Sup im sword just got here and am getting a feel for things.
Well i got a feel for things and i think ill stay... also recovering from spine surgery sucks but is better than ending up in the emergency room again.
The last few days had been busy for the Fort Stevens crew, mopping up the last of the raiders and getting the solar panels to Arlington really seemed to make the last bits of suspensions leave the local rumors. The engineers were even able to expand the walls of Arlington, improve irrigation pipes for some of their farms, as well as train some of the town’s people with basic hand-to-hand and weapon skills.
Everything seemed peaceful for the most part, Jane was recovering well enough, Hector seemed to be holding up alright but never seemed to be around much, and Maisy was taking on her new role in stride. For now everything seemed to be doing alright and for the most part the expedition was going well enough, a few expected casualties but plenty of new friends. Our next stop should be Maisy’s family ranch, truth be told she hadn’t spoken to Trevor much about her old place. He figured she was getting stressed out about it and simply didn’t want to talk about it.
For now, we go to Trevor who is currently instructing a portion of the local lady’s and some kids on self-defense and basic combative drills with his squad. This was a class he volunteered to put on for the towns folk who wanted to join, for many it was optional but for the best fighters in town, whether they were male or female, it was mandatory. The mixed martial arts and military combative class was being held in a dirt patch just outside the main wall of Arlington, fenced in with a few roving patrols nearby so security was not an issue.
For the last few days he was instructing one person personally while his squad went over the basics with the rest of the group. He knew he wouldn’t be here forever, that’s why he was training this strong Burnett named Alex and going over a few military combative training manuals for her to go over with the others. There was talk that Hector might be staying behind to command a small garrison here at Arlington while he worked out his personal issues, but Trevor couldn’t rely on rumors. Alex was strong, and fast, and brave. But she had an easy temper and had an awful habit of being clumsy when she was angry.
For the most part she seemed able to accept criticism and showed great interest in being a combat instructor, her ability to absorb and replicate the subject material was also very useful. Trevor liked her, in time if she got her own issues down she would make a fine soldier. But that thought was pushed aside, as there was still a lot of training to do in the short amount of time before they left again.
They were nearing their lunch break when Trevor found himself pacing through the small crowed while they practiced punches and learning how to fall and roll. Now and then he would correct someone who was doing it wrong or show them the proper way to do one thing or another. Something outside the fence did catch his eye for a moment, someone he didn’t recognize wearing suspenders, the person was tall and slim but from this angle he couldn’t quite make out their gender. The tall figure also was leading a couple of dogs who were pulling a red cart behind them, “Trader perhaps” he thought as he turned and continued watching his men conduct the combat training.
“Cuban?” what an odd description, this man didn’t seem like the racist type but one could never really tell sometimes. Victor smiled at Joseph when Olivia offered for him to join them, “You should come with us, tell us what inspired that unique suit of yours.” He wasn’t trying to be mean even if it might have come off that way. He was never all that good at social interactions some times.
The man didn’t realize it, not at first anyway. Olivia seemed distant trailing off with her ever softening words, until finally she fell. He wasn’t fast enough to catch her, even though he tried. He was looking forward making sure their path was still clear when she mentioned sitting down and by the time he looked down at her she was already falling. The tall man didn’t hesitate his instincts kicked in, and he was at her side checking her pulse, and monitoring her breathing. Victor didn’t have any idea what could bring on this issue, she didn’t drink anything before this, but he didn’t see her eat that much either. The medical possibilities raced through his head as he stared at the unconscious girl.
A rather young and spunky looking girl said she would try to find help and left without him getting a word in, some other bystanders had stopped to look or watch even offer assistance. Victor simply told them to give them some room while he dialed the emergency line on his cell phone, “This is dispatch what’s your emergency” a monotone female voice came over the phone while he continued to monitor the girl, “I need paramedics to the north-eastern entrance to the Central point ball area for a Female, early twenties, that passed out and fell.” He relayed the information to the girl on the other end of the phone, he could hear her typing in information on a keyboard.
“The female did not hit her head, she is unresponsive with a slow heart rate and slow and deep breaths. No seizure and no alcohol or drug consumption” The dispatcher continued to type before speaking again, “can I get your name sir?” Victor continued to watch over Olivia while he spoke again, “my name is Victor Henson.” The dispatcher chimed in one more time, “Alright sir, Paramedics are on their way and should be there shortly.” A sigh escaped the man, “Thank you, I’ll call you back if her condition changes” he hung up his phone and continued to watch her.
It was still daylight while he slept, the strange man that joined this rag tag group a few days prior. He just so happened to be enjoying his favorite pastime of killing the risen when a few people thought he was in trouble and came to help, telling him to join them in their humble abode. They were glad to know he had medical skills but began to distance themselves when they noticed the things that made this man off. Multiple personalities, talking to himself, hearing voices, and the ever so subtle modified straight jacket he wore under his trench coat didn’t seem to ease these people. But Lucas didn’t give a dam, he figured that it would be fun to stay with people again until it got boring.
But it would seem that this place would not settle for being boring, although he never really talked to anyone or get to know them. This strange man wouldn’t settle for sleeping on the floor or under desks like the others instead he stacked a few chairs on a table and made a bed in the false ceiling, finding a reinforced area near a wall to sleep on. It was small but out of the way of the others, he could also keep his things up there while not worrying about anyone going through his stuff.
Then it came with a scream, the beautiful sound of chaos and despair. Lucas woke with a start he was already gathering his gear when they burst through the door. He could hear yelling and shouts of trouble, his heart felt like it was going to leap from his chest as his adrenalin spiked but all he did was smile when he dropped from the ceiling and onto the table and strapped his gear onto him. Lucas didn’t seem to care or hide how disturbing it was with what he sung for all to hear, “Despair, you come to me, with your poison and your misery. Oh death, you come to sting with your poison and your misery” breaking glass and moans from the undead outside seemed to drown the man out as he leaped from the table making his way towards the door.
His voice was louder now, the dead were coming, and they would make it in eventually. “Death surrounds me, singing to me softly. Let the shadow spreads his wings, around me. In the night, close your eyes, for it means to come in. In the night, close your eyes, I'll be here to call. I can feel the shadow creeping in my mind. Don't close your eyes!” making his way to the few survivors that surrounded the wounded man and seemed to be starring on in shock, he decided to take the initiative. “Quick!” he shouted at them pointing to a desk against the wall, “move that to the door it will give us time!” short and simple, something easy to get those just standing around to do something.
Even through the language barrier they seemed to understand, he waited for them to move off before kneeling down to the sweating and crying man who was lying in a pool of his own blood. At first glance he knew, he knew this man in his current form was not long for this world, and he would soon join the others that were clawing their way inside. So he would wait, wait for the others to look away or gather their things. Slowly while kneeling next to the man cradling his head in his arms he whispered while taking Enrique’s green butterfly knife from his hand, “Shh Shh, everything’s going to be okay and you will be free of this pain.” Lucas gripped the knife in one of his hands as he kept talking. “I am the Ángel de la muerte” this seemed to stop the man’s whimpering for only a moment as if understanding what was happening. The swift small movement of his hands ended that moment and with it Enrique’s life as Lucas pulled the knife from the base of the other man’s skull.
He knew what that phrase in Spanish was, angel of death, one of his friends at the ward would occasionally call him that when he had one of his episodes. He also understood where he needed to strike someone in order for them to stay down, one of the first things he did was experiment in both the killings of the dead and living he needed to see and understand how it all worked. Feeling like Enrique wasn’t coming back he stood and smiled as he looked to the others, “Well it’s another day in this beautifully chaotic world, now then in case you all still need direction.” He paused for a moment and looked to all of them, “I kindly suggest you all get your shit and get out! Enrique here has made a noble sacrifice and will stay behind to slow down the risen that will get through.” With a laugh and a smile the insane man picked up his ax strapped on his fire helmet and walked out the side door towards the planned escape route.
Victor walked slowly beside Olivia making sure not to lose the small girl in the crowed, she seemed to be commenting on the look of the festivities when she trailed off. Something caught her eye as she looked through the break in the crowed. He wasn’t sure if it was the same person he saw until she spoke a name, “Joseph” Joseph is not the name of the man that Victor glared at. Honestly Victor didn’t like being around the people he worked with when he didn’t have too, but there he was, Sasha god-damn Kuznetsov. Victor had already read the file on the kid and frankly he wasn’t impressed.
His stare was broken by the man clad in cardboard and duct tape, the slight smell of alcohol followed him and his mere sight reminded him of the homeless. This man was somewhat strange towards victor saying he was Olivia’s date, his posture changed to a bit defensive, sure he looked harmless but victor didn’t know him.
For a moment his attention shifted to a man beating up a bush and then seeing another man strike him then help him up and out of the spot light. “Such a strange place” he muttered as his attention again was brought back to this man who showed hints of depression across his face as he introduced himself. “My name is Victor and I’m uh not her date, I’m her brother.”
He looked the man up and down again before glancing over to Olivia, “one of your friends eh?” he smiled at her before glancing around at all the people. Not very many stood out other than a very tall blonde a little ways away, “so Olivia you want to start heading towards the ball room and perhaps out of this cold?” he wasn’t trying to be pushy he only figured by the size of the girls coat that she was a bit cold or by her size and pale skin maybe a bit frail. His eyes rested on the tall blonde again for a moment, he couldn’t tell if the blonde was a boy or girl yet but looked like this person was easily six inches taller than him.

Personality: Lucas is or was a good man with a single driven purpose to help and care for others, now with his multiple personalities he’s… weird. Lucas is normally calm, collected, and tends to be helpful. Currently he can speak English and Norwegian, and otherwise seems normal other than the slight conversations he has with himself.
Dave is a character, adventurous, reckless, and a bit rude he tends to be more talkative. Constantly trying to make others laugh if he can while at times intentionally harming himself to make others smile. However, he has been known to be a bit crazy and has done things most would not call sane. Dave can speak Norwegian and French.
Joe is quiet and reserved, rarely will he speak and rarer still will he smile. He is stern, cold, and selfish only ever looking out for himself and is a bit more primal or instinctual than the other personalities. He will communicate with hand gestures but otherwise speaks Norwegian.
Biography: Lucas can’t remember anything about his life before his 14th birthday, when he was 23 he was in a bad car wreck while on the way to his friend’s apartment. Who knew alcohol and driving on a stormy night was a bad idea. He spent 3 months in the hospital in a coma and another two months in physical therapy. Eventually his new personality’s and other issues became apparent. Voices, and headaches plagued him to the point that they put him in a mental institution for his own safety.
Before this he was in Belgium with a scholarship to be a paramedic and was training while also staying at a small fire station. He was getting some on the job experience while also going to school. Lucas was almost done with his schooling even preparing to go home for a visit with his new girlfriend, Sasha. It’s funny, how a series of bad decisions can culminate into a near death experience and then having everyone you know and love abandon you in a mental ward.
When the world came burning down around them, with the virus, dead, and riots, he was well aware that being locked in the hospital was a death trap. And so, while a few nurses were discussing what to do he was able to convince a few of the ones that were nice to him that letting them out was a good idea. That keeping them locked in these rooms would be cruel, that they deserved a chance just like they did. After that they let some of them out, the ones like Lucas who could care for themselves. He left that place and disappeared into this new chaotic world. He knows he has family, but he doesn’t know where and really doesn’t care too much, all he’s trying to do now is simple, survive.
Other: Has family somewhere but otherwise has a soft spot for children and dogs. it should also be noted that when talking Lucas has a deep voice, where Dave has a more high-pitched voice, and Joe is more monotone.
