The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

I think I will actually drop out.

I didn't realize how much would be written. I very often keep up and update my RPs on mobile during breaks at work, and don't have much time outside of it. I simply don't have the time to read the amount of text that this RP is generating. Even without the game even starting.

Sorry to hear that's how you feel, but I can absolutely sympathize as I've had the same kind of problems myself before with keeping up and feeling like things are getting on top of me too. It's also a shame, as I was really looking forward to seeing how you play a Syreen!
But no worries, hope you have fun with whatever else you do, and that we can play together sometime in the future.
@Natsucooldude Gurjan looks fine, the only thing I'd ask is if you could tweak the formatting on the sheet a little bit; bold the section headings and put a space inbetween each section? The actual character looks fine though, and I'll add him to the active list.

Thank you!

@Silverwind Blade all done. Let me know what you think.

She looks fine :) I'll add Nyx to the list of characters!

I'll just fill in a character sheet and see what happens. It will be edited into this post once finished.

On an aside note, I counted the races of the league, and there seem to be six, not five

I'd ask that you please post your character into the characters tab, rather than in the OOC

And you'd be surprised how many problems I have with numbers, even simple ones like that >.>
I'll change the info so that it says six in the appropriate places instead of five.
@Jdolan and @Gisk, your characters are both approved. I'll add them to the active list!

Okay, sorry it took so long I had a lot to do yesterday and by the time I was done it was midnight. :|
But I'm reading through everything and I will have a sheet up today.

No problems, I appreciate you keeping me informed :)

Is there still space in this?

There was a huge amount of interest in the Int Check, and it did seem like it was full. However, not everyone seems to have come across, and I'm sure I can squeeze you in somewhere. Also, not being mean to anyone, or picking on anyone, but in my experience there'll be some drop-outs once things get started too.
The subject of rank came up in a PM, and it's one worth repeating here too.
I'm going to suggest that DefCom squadrons like Wylde Fyre, that have dual-role flight and ground personnel, and likely DefCom ground forces as well as they're dependent on the Naval forces, use US Marine Corps-style ranks.

As all of our characters are flying personnel, we'd all likely be officers. Erien's rank, as commander of the squadron, will be set at Colonel. I'll choose people to fill in as 2IC and other appropriate ranks as more characters go up, and we get into the game a bit more, based on their attitude and service record, as well as their age and other factors.

So when shall we start the rp if i may ask? Or are we still waiting for people?

I'll probably wait another day to give a few more peeps a chance to post their characters, and also give myself a chance to plot out the structure of the game. I've got the idea of structuring it a bit like a TV series; each mission will be an episode, with two to three episodes forming a story arc, and three or four arcs forming a 'season' with something spectacular, dramatic and action-packed at the end of each.
@Urukhai Asrial is totally fine, happy to approve him. I'll add him to the list of active and approved characters.

@Zetsuko Elik is mostly fine, the only things I'd ask as edits would be that the Hardlight bow is a bit more advanced technology than the setting is set at. You're welcome to have some kind of folding bow instead, although I'd point out that it wouldn't be permitted as a primary weapon, as DefCom is a military organization, and uses standardized equipment. Your primary weapon would be a variant of the ACR, the White Wolf PDW or a shotgun.

Same for everyone else, actually - weapons are standardized, and should be something from the DefCom equipment list, though it's a bit more relaxed when it comes to melee weapons, as long as it's not anything truly ridiculous or out of place (like exotic martial arts weapons, for example)
IM SO EXCITED AND I JUST CANT HIDE IT !!

I LIKE CAPS TOO

I've updated the list of active players. As more people post their characters and they are approved, I'll add to the list :3

Sounds good - was hoping it'd be more a BSG-style. Makes for a more kinetic and fluid experience with a lot more options. I like it.

As for the player-space issue...you're already butting up on ten, so quickly? I thought you only had like 4 or 5 folks on line.

I think Babylon 5 did it relatively similarly as well?
Mainly, I'm aiming for it to be gripping, exciting and fast-paced, but with at least some nods and acknowledgement to realism, as long as it adds to the fun and cinematic nature of it, rather than subtracting from that experience.

As for the player count, if everyone who's mentioned they're interested from the Interest Check comes over, then that's 13+ plus people. However, I'd be very surprised if that happens, and at least if they all post characters that meet the standards.
If you're interested, go ahead and post a character, and I'm sure we'll find a way to work it out.
