Current I'm a pretty good writer and former site staff; I still deal with imposter syndrome every time I log on. You're definitely not alone. And t's worth trying anyway.

Don't worry, D3AD ST4R, most of us feel like that. <33

I just finished The Secret History, a very Gen X book. Never Let Me Go before that, which I'd recommend to any writer outside the MFA atmosphere who wants to know emotonal restraint.

<Snipped quote by Ruby> Well, when I say '300 words' I really mean 300 good words that have been spell/grammar checked and capitalized properly. I also tend to mean 'it moves the plot forward.' But you knew that.
Yeah, sorry. It seemed to me too many were missing the heart of the matter, and your '300' just triggered me. Although grammar/spelling can slack a little if the writing is good. I knew you knew it, too, but at least folks like User can see it and hopefully understand it better. If you approach the concept of Advanced as length/grammar/spelling requirements first, you missed it. The boat left, and you weren't anywhere near the dock.
possibly interested. Big star Trek fan :) Would this be casual or advanced?
I'm inclined to say High Casual, just as a cop out. ^_^
I'm game. Been sinking a bit too much time into ST:O recently, so... Do you have any ideas for which of the continuities you're planning to set this in, and if it's "prime" what era?
No, but only because I haven't asked potential players their preference yet, and I'd like to keep an open mind on all setting/plot elements until I get an idea on what you folks want, too.
I'm a walking Star Trek encyclopedia; I'll know what Wiki article to point you to, or be able to answer any questions you have myself. So I'm much less worried about the players knowing all about Star Trek.
<Snipped quote by Ruby> HEY! i put this up so i could understand. and so far i can understand it snt for me. no need to be rude
Okay, I'm a little confused how you got something disparaging out of that.
Curious to see if there's enough folks out there interested to start really brainstorming a Trek game. It's always been a surprisingly underplayed fandom on the Guild, hence floating this test balloon before doing a proper Interest Check. Thanks!
Also the option of removing Bruce from the game for a little bit. Maybe characters will feel like they have more 'breathing room' if the Big Bat had to go save the JLA's ass, or something.
Likewise, we could continue on with the dead Mayor, bring in Lex, have people ask Bruce to run, get the Mad Monk introduced, and introduce the Court of Owls THAT way. So many story options. Really, maybe just throw it all out in the open and let folks pick as a group.
Honestly, I thought giving everyone their own independent episode would help build excitement and help people feel that sense of ownership of rp and character. Sadly I think this rp just started at an inopportune time that meant their are periods of "dead air" so to speak where people cannot post and that's left people feeling like they can't post unless there's a big story impact to it. The intention for me at least was always for this to be character rather than story driven. I don't want this to end so I think adjusting our approach as Ruby said is the best way to move forward. I've always been a flexible GM and I know Ruby has too, we're more than happy to roll with something that someone else does. I just hope we haven't come across as anything different
Maybe a storyline that each player can really have some fun with? Something they feel comfortable enough creating for, instead of simply reacting to GM posts. Maybe...a Night of Owls?
I mean yeah, we did have a lot of people kinda wander off and away, which is kinda sheer bad luck... So what kind of alternate approach do we take? We could re-boot with new people in new roles if we have to or try and recruit, but I'm not sure people have that kind of patience. XD
We'd just change the storytelling focus, from a big group to a smaller group. Probably make our lives easier.
