He begins slamming his blazing axe into the beast's thick skull, but is making no apparent mark on the bone, aside from a slight ash smudge. "WHY WON'T YOU JUST DIE?"
I think the the Liver faction of The Ouroboros sounds most like what I'm thinking of. He's a hitman tasked with "cleaning out the riff raff, and the rebels."
