I think for RP it should go based off of how they do it in the anime. It's not as fun and pretty restrictive if we go with just whatever mechanics the game gives us. There are more ways than one to use a Pokemon's attacks after all.
@Otomosthecrazy and @AbysmalDemon, do you guys need any encounters made? Or you guys fine over there?
I think even if Nexus' Pokemon aren't tied down to any type, they'll still use what is common, so we should see a repeat of ones like Poochyena and Zubat.
@EWillden Double Battle, 2 Grunts. Poochyena, Zubat.

@Heckno12 Single Battle, 1 Grunt. Magnemite.

@Sketcher Triple Battle, 3 Grunts. Noibat, Geodude, Pawniard.

@Tangletail Single Battle, 1 Grunt. Machop.

@alexfangtalon Triple Battle, 3 Grunts. Poochyena, Pawniard, Litwick.
Oh we could. Well I'll give you guys some then? Is that fine?
You should at least give them something to go up against. Yes it's not pinned down to any type, but you should throw matchups at everyone. Put some more effort into GMing man. Just that little bit.

When you play a game, deciding yourself the full details of what happens next is... Not really fun. Especially when you have to play it out all by yourself. I'm literally trudging through this segment now so that I can make random encounters for other people's groups, with a chosen party, and since there is a loss state for these encounters, they're going to be done as a PvP.

Think about it this way, when you play a game, you don't know what may happen next, and that is in large part of the fun, and the reason repetitive design is considered bad, because it's not interesting and because if it's repetitive, we already know what's going to happen or what we're going to have to do.
It'll be a combination of achieving the required level, and bond with their trainer. Once they've achieved the required level, we as players will be allowed to choose when they evolve.

For instance during mid-battle, when the need arises, other dramatic display. We don't have to play this exactly like a game after all.

Honestly I'm pulling up a lot of inspiration from the anime and how they seem to do things. I think it fits.

Also lastly @AbysmalDemon, what Pokemon do the Nexus Grunts have? Also, I've posted. Take a look at the battle and tell me if anything's up.

VS

As Rylen and Del Rosas shaped up to battle, with Rylen shaking off his knife wound, and Larvitar squaring up with Luxio, battles all around them were erupting. It seems his and others bold declaration of resistance had emboldened other trainers in the Pokemon Center, this hospital of sorts had quickly become a battle ground.

"Larvitar, Sandstorm", he ordered. Immediately the area around their battle was covered in a maelstrom of sand, almost from nowhere.

"Tackle with Leer", the Luxio charged through the sandstorm, taking buffet damage as it leered through it's rush attack. As the attack was about to land...

"Bite!", he yelled. The Larvitar stuck to it's guns and took the tackle head on, along with the leer weakening it, it was a heavy hit, but Larvitar had a clear shot of it's own as it chomped down on the Luxio's neck.

"Don't let go of it, wrestle it if you have to", the Nexus admin was visibly surprised at the gutsy move. These were not the instincts of an amateur. His Larvitar grasped the Luxio in a hug while it's young yet strong jaws kept the Luxio from moving. Combined this with the sandstorm around them, it was definitely a terrible place for the Luxio to be.

"Quick! Charge! Spark!", the Luxio attempted to charge, but Larvitar being a ground type didn't feel a thing as the Luxio struggled by discharging electricity. The Charge did nothing, and the Spark was just a glorified Tackle but without any momentum, Larvitar's jaws remained clamped on the Luxio.

"If I have you locked down, you can't work around the typing... Larvitar, pin it and Bite again!", he declared. Rylen's Larvitar heaved the Luxio off it's legs, letting go at the same time before going in for the final blow. The Luxio was soundly defeated, unable to use it's electricity, it was almost no contest. Even if the Nexus admin Del Rosa had another Pokemon, the sandstorm was still up, which favored him nicely.

"If you have more I'm ready for it", he said. He was lucky he could end this quickly. If he didn't have Larvitar hold the Luxio down like that, it would've simply made use of it's speed while deciding to instead weather the sandstorm rather than charge in like it did, and probably would have won that way, seeing as it was higher level. Still, did this leader guy have anymore...?
Did I stop? Never.

@Heckno12

Now who's next...

Oh yeah. I was thinking evolution should be handled differently. The way we're using levels will bring our Pokemon to evolution very quickly so we need a different deciding factor.

EDIT: Also Abysmal, for everyone else's sake, you should probably tell us what Pokemon the Nexus Grunts have. All we know is Del Rosa has the Luxio, but what about the rest?
