Following the disbanding of the League of Silver Marches the region of Luruar has stood divided for near a decade now. While the great cities hold steadfast against the dangers of the far north the various smaller settlements and hamlets of the frontier must often fend for themselves. Such is the fate of the town of Deadsnows sitting at the feet of the foreboding Nether Mountains. Threatened by orcs, goblins, dragons, and other menaces the folk of Deadsnows are always vigilant and never stray far from their walls. The roads are just as dangerous, only the bravest travelers walk “the Fork”. You are one such traveler daring the far reaches of Faerûn. Weary from your journey and seeking shelter from the cold you have arrived in Deadsnows.

You find that the people are without welcoming words and kind smiles, a grim aura resonating in the air. Facing food shortage and constant attacks across the countryside morale is low and the town watch are pressed to retain order, the Seneschal having naught to offer locked away in his manor. A sinister shadow presides over Deadsnows misfortune, the eyes of tyrants have come to rest on what they see as theirs to be dominated. Willing or not you will find yourself swept up in the coming events. Will you seek to help the people, muster riches for yourself, or merely survive?

• General guild rules and expectations apply.
While not tabletop, this RP is set in the current edition timeline. (5E, Current Year 1495 DR)
• Players begin with a single character. An additional character may be created later. Players will have a maximum of two characters allowed.
• Players are expected to notify OP of any extensive absence so that we may work something feasible out. If players wish to drop out I consider it a courtesy to let me know.
• Godmodding, flaming, metagaming, bullying, and general harassment and poor conduct will not be tolerated.
• Typical post length expectation will range from three to six paragraphs - five to eight sentences - although I do realize that certain circumstances will mandate less content than others. That said, one liners and low effort posts will not be acceptable.
• Graphic violence is permitted though I would prefer we not go full Michael Bay, please.
• Character intimacy/relationships are permitted but any sexual content must fade to black. NSFW content and graphic sexual descriptions will not be tolerated.

Original Interest Check

For those who want to further familiarize themselves with the region and those who dwell here. This will be further expanded as the story progresses for reference. Ask me any questions you may have!

OP will be posted tomorrow, sorry for the delay! Had a busy day at work.
@Jinxlynx There is still room yes!

@Archangel89 Basically, yes they are.
I will most likely role as a half-elf Ranger (Hunter archetype).
@POOHEAD189@Rising Dusk@Kassarock

NOTE: The reason for the template to be so “skeletal” is to allow for players to get creative with CS design from color coding to alignment and indentation. This allows a personalized aesthetic design in CS appearance. (This has always been an approach of mine.)

@ShuYea sorry didn't mean to talk to you like you didn't know or anything, was just making sure we're on the same page D: My bad

No worries! You were just clarifying. ^-^

I guess I should clarify

Utility in this case means how in DnD 5e there are spells like 'stone shape' 'speak languages' 'detect magic'

I asked about any book related to this area we're in so I could look up a PDF to read up on or ask a friend of mine who has a lot of 5E stuff if he has it

I’m familiar with utility spells, no worries. Again, a utility caster build wouldn’t be out of place in the RP.

I do feel the need to add that this particularly area isn’t like super explored. For example the lore on Deadsnows provided in the wiki is… about it really as I’ve looked about online (though I won’t deny I might have missed something here or maybe there) . The same goes for example with the Vordrorn and Arn Forests. This is a frontier region that really doesn’t have a lot of heavy lore development or.

EDIT: Thanks Poo.

@ShuCan I ask you how the roleplay will work? Will someone function as a DM of sorts? (It's been a long time since I've been a part of RPGuild so I'm not sure if that's how things operate here still)

How combat focused do our characters need to be? Would a utility caster/support role be helpful or just still useless here?

Is there an official wizards of the coast handbook of any kind I could go find and read? They tend to be more detailed than anything the forgotten realms wiki has

Good questions,

I will be GM/DM as I will control NPC characters and regulate events and story background. My roles will be limited to such as we won’t have any tabletop mechanics, I’ll basically just guide the story along and present players with choices to be made. I also have a “tavern” feature where I will post “rumors” and whatnot in the OOC for players to look act and if a particularly rumor/arc I’ve posted interested them they can pursue it.

While there will be parts of heavy combat I don’t see utility magic as totally useless in this setting. It could help in combat situations and if your character might know a couple of other spells - such as some evocation ones - those could be of assistance. A pure utility caster even could be of relevance as well, but I suppose that comes down to how you play the character really.

As for a handbook… @POOHEAD189 may have something. He is also big on Realms lore and could help fill in holes with his knowledge. I don’t know as much as him but I would be willing to help you out with what I know as well.
