They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

So ded. Cannot brain. Just one massive poorly coordinated and balance-lacking headache. But don't send help. I don't want to people either. X.x

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@Shoryu Magami firstly, how'd you get that special title? Secondly: NaNoWriMo is a competition, but only against yourself. The idea is 50K words in 30 days, though you can tweak it to your personal preferences if your goal is the writing and not NaNo itself. There's Camp NaNo in summer that has flexible goals, too. And you could totally write 50K words of drivel, or in your story's setting, or even part of your future book. The idea is to encourage people to get the words on the paper, and to worry about thinking and editing later. I find that I meet a lot of wonderful people through NaNo, both online and in person, since I now go to my local meetups. <3 My best friend in the area is one I met through NaNo, and I have several others. Spent until 2am at the house of one of them (and her daughter) last night, also with the aforementioned best friend. We started at Denny's but it was just us four, so we switched venues.

NaNoers and the forums are likewise a great resource if you have odd questions that you're not comfortable asking people who aren't writers or don't want getting the wrong ideas, such as do male genitalia float, how much jello it takes to fill the White House, how long before a punctured lung will kill you, and the best way to skin a cat. There's also threads with ideas and suggestions and dares and discussions, all of which can spark inspiration and ideas for future use. It is one of the best things ever, in my opinion, though my true love is writing /with/ people, not for people.

Even if you don't want to participate, friends and ideas and encouragement for your own solo project are wonderful things to have -- and you have always had thoughtful responses when I've seen you posting, so you might be a significant contributor to discussions that encourage and inspire others. <3

@tsukune I just took a glance at your profile and I think I like you. *glomp* Blame Shoryu when you can't get rid of me~

@Gowi *sits on* Sounds like fun~ If I was writing seriously, I'd try to do the sequel to my first novel with the shattered fourth wall, or the one where the guy kills the dragon by mistake and has to fix things, or a total feels trip. ^.^ I want all the feels lately. ALL OF THEM.
@RomanAria @Tyler Night (since I saw you mention it) and I don't know who else.

Happy first day of NaNo, everyone that finds their way here. I probably can't win this year, and may not even get to do more than putter around with story stuff, but I do plan on writing at least a little. It's a shame I'm out of town a quarter of the month, and having life attack me the rest. Then again, I've only won twice, of all the years I've tried. Participation and camaraderie (and the dare thread!) are what I enjoy most. Winning has always been just a bonus. <3

So what is everyone trying to write, what characters are you planning on torturing or killing off, and got any good dares for my collection?
@TheMinorFall Aww, that's adorable! And I'm glad to hear you're still rping with her. Kinda sad we're not doing a group, 'cuz having the various people adjusting at the same time was fun. Also Cera is sad because this means she is out of luck.
Princess? ...That was just a nickname or something, right? Jareth couldn't believe Lya was a princess -- sure, she might be beautiful enough, but she didn't act like royalty or anything. And if she was, she wouldn't be having anything to do with him. And she was very much having things to do with him.

Another mental wrench, and he sifted through what Victor had said, though he was sidetracked by a sudden kiss that left him stunned and staring as she sauntered off. One hand lifted to almost touch his cheek, where he could still feel the pressure of her lips. Oh gods...why did he have to go back home on Monday?

Right, engine thing. Wait no, processor? "...Maybe it doesn't need to be faster," Jareth said slowly, his gears gradually gaining traction and kicking up to speed. "What was it my one friend keeps gushing about? Quantum processors? I mean, you probably already have them, but if you give me a look at some of the theories, it might be possible to layer them better." The idea of computers that could do multiple calculations at literally the same time instead of in very rapid progression had a lot of people excited, and if this lot were indeed more advanced, as they seemed to be, they doubtless already had them. Actual quantum processors -- ones that worked, that were standard and cutting edge and dear gods he wanted to see them. His fingers tingled with the familiar itch, a yearning that had started with tinkering, but now spread to concepts as well as physical work.

"It's always in how it's used. Good and evil are as subjective as truth. More so, in fact. If it's a matter of morals, and the same power, then they might as well be the same thing," Amuné replied. "And in my biased view, failure to act can indeed be wicked." She fell silent. She still doubted anything had absolute power, unless you assumed reality itself had some sort of consciousness, but that issue was toying with ideas that strained comprehension, and she wasn't in the mood. The Seer subsided into complete stillness, though her focus sharpened at the final question. "I can," she said. "Nothing fancy, but enough. Unarmed martial arts, primarily a knife or short staff for CQC, and firearms. My Sight aids me only in supplementing tactics and sensing attacks. I have no other magic."

"Two minds? Split personality or something, like that comicbook villain? Ha, that's a laugh." Cera shook her head. "Sometime you'll have to tell me how you ended up her lieutenant, cutie -- and what made you decide to leave," she added, putting her feet up on an ottoman. "If only two ever see her, then she must have an excellent hiding spot, and she must not do a lot of travelling. But a second lieutenant...hm." The vampire twisted a lock of dark hair around a finger, thinking. "It'd be someone new here, and I'm not sure how much of a friendly reception new folk'd get. It's a delicate balance this town has, and even those that are loud elsewhere have found a quiet place useful. I don't know how they'd take to someone messing that up. Which means--" and here she leaned forward, her grin stretching wide, "--all we really need to do is wait for someone to see them and start fussing. This isn't exactly a small town, but the monster community isn't that big, all things considered."

((His ring? ...Orion's married?! *flailing*))
@Mogtaki Aww, Cecil doesn't like hugs? =/
@kapuchu I love that sort of thing. When character interactions flow -- and especially when they surprise you, or lead to pivotal moments for characters. <3

@Nanashi Ninanai See, here's development happening! <3
@Shoryu Magami Sanity, an important stat in Call of Cthulhu and...Ravenloft? Greyhawk? Whichever.
@PlatinumSkink HAha, well, for me "me" and "tragedy" do rhyme, but I'm the one that says "see" and "reality" rhyme. =P Where are you from? My wild guess is Aussieland, but I am as likely wrong as not.

I came over here to say I enjoyed your story. And from the beginning, Steven felt a bit ominous. I can't put my finger on it, but I suspected he wasn't the great guy he seemed to be. Charity has a lot of power, but as this is a story and not an rp, that's not so much an issue, and you handled it well. Her changing her nature to be what was needed was the final kick in the gut. I have feels. And I may need to read Apocalypse Maiden. <3
@Shoryu Magami I would be scared if I didn't know the SAN of most rpers...and considering my own abysmal score.
I like @ArenaSnow's idea! That'd be such a blast, interviewing characters and answering in their manner. Of course, reticent characters might have awesome answers that they refuse to share. But this is where a player's note might come in handy.
