My Very Brief Bio

Male, 33 years old. (I'm even more dead than before.)

Likes (other than writing and roleplaying): I'm into all genres of music. I love to cook. I love the outdoors, and walking through the park near my house. (Yes, really.) I read a lot of thriller/mystery novels. And I usually watch seasonal anime. (Or cooking shows. Because Western Media provides even fewer things that are worth watching.)

But as for my many other neglected hobbies, I've played basically every sport. (Soccer and Bowling being my favorite of the bunch.) And I'm trying to play more video games. (Going through my never-ending Steam library.) Plus, I've dabbled in making electronic & metal music, and I used to play a number of instruments. (Guitar, French Horn, etc.)

I am glad to have had all those years of college paid for by the government though. Scary here.

I'm sure it is. <.< With the constantly dropping crime rate, abundant living conditions, no chance in hell for food shortages. Cleaner environment than Europe. Not even remotely showing off utter ignorance of the world around you.
@KatherinWinter Well maybe. But I think it's just that there's a misunderstanding of player knowledge vs character knowledge and how stories unfold often against the odds. People don't call the cops in horror movies, because it's interesting. People will face obvious danger and near impossible odds, for the same deal.

Okay, so the collars are magical. And different looking based on crime committed. Got it. When Bastian bought her though, what did he do? Does he not own her? Is this a temporary thing? You think that would be brought up when purchasing right? Does she have an amount of debt needed to pay off before allowing to no longer be a slave? If so, Bastian couldn't realistically promise to free her. (unless he had a lot of money. And although he does, while unaware of it, for reasons I haven't gone into yet.) Shouldn't he reasonably be allowed to take the collar off? Even if he needs to get it officially done (or illegally done.) By some powerful mage...

But, a slave could still benefit from an appearance change. Changing their face and details, yes you'd still be labeled a murder. But could the owner still recognize her? Could someone be an abusive terrible slave owner, have one of their bought slaves escape find this person. Who themselves uses magic, to alter physical appearance. Alter their face and go under a new owner, who promises to pay and treat them better. Getting more loyality and harder work in the process? And people can still pay in ways that don't need currency.

And on the seemingly impossible task of tracking down the bladed beauty. Again, you wouldn't need to ask, every single person. You'd just need to ask the right questions and say the right things. Who knows, maybe you'd get lucky and they'd come to you in a dramatic irony/twist of fate. If you don't want Elizabeth to find her, because you don't think she'd reasonably could do so. Even though he hopes that she can. You can still go there...you wanted to help find the kids. He's desperate and you guys have hours to kill. So unless she's a character who'd give up such an important task. I'd assume it would be given the most effort.

So okay, since you seem to require clarification. I'll give you the reason, Bastian would know. (Just not yet. But would instantly upon meeting her.) She is currently wearing his daughter jewelry, which he hand crafted himself and reeks of her distinct scent which can't be smelled by humans. She was given this as payment, for the kidnappers in question and she also knows their names and even their location. Because she keeps tracks of clients, that she suspects will do more crimes. For safety purposes. But...once Bastian sees this...He's not going to get all the information, because...well...anger will happen.

My intention was, if he went in that area. People -would- fight him and if he sees his daughters items on someone else. His curse feeding on his impulsivity and anger. He will not let them live...

Actually to further, just explain my intention and ideas. She ends up crossing paths with you, she finds you, because she knows everyone in this town and sympathizes with your plight, because she was once a slave pursued by someone forever until she learned to hide away from them. And I wanted her to seem at least like an empathetic gray character. I wanted to come up with the details later, but obviously planned on cutting her out of the story, in quite a literal fashion. <.< But it also was going to be the first time he has ever had concrete objectives. (while the negative, being that his curse is actively getting worse.)
So by illegal in the United States, you mean sometimes illegal in some of the states? Just looking for clarification...

My post literally goes over what most of that Wikipedia page went through. Yes sometimes, law doesn't make a whole lot of sense and is sporadic. Go figure. (Hell I even posted, a wikipedia page.)

Though even then, from eons ago. My argument was this shouldn't be encouraged, its a tragedy every time someone losses all hope, it demoralizes countries, medical data that people do it for is often wrong, and it often fails and costs us billions. Which was what you disagreed with. Without really giving me any counter evidence, which I assume just means "feelings trump facts and data."
@KatherinWinter I'm aware you said she was a slave and that she apparently had a collar on her.

I guess my question that follows...Can it be removed? Whether easily like a normal collar, or if the collar is magical with magic, and is it legal to do so? Does the collar do anything beside a visable cue to display that she's a slave?

I mean, this world has established slave trading. So they at least has to be a market for slaves, reasonably some people would try to steal other slaves. Or some may be against such and provide shelter. Just assuming. Why wouldn't a human likely illegal gambling ring accept a slave entering the premises? Wouldn't they thrive on people desperate for money and in debt?

Also, this women accepted clients that are criminals and does stuff that's clearly shady. So would she assume a random slave coming to find her, knowing how desperate most are for freedom. Strange to be seeking her out? (Maybe since you'd figure they'd not have money, they wouldn't be interested? But there's always more to pay, than just coins...) Just curious on what you want to go on here. And if she has a tattoo, that incriminates her as a slave, wouldn't that be the first person used to seek to fix that problem? Someone that can alter appearances.

Also, we do have a way. Just neither character would realistically know about it, but I have one already in mind. Player knowledge, not character knowledge to be specific.
It is so against the law that it is physician assisted suicide is legal in Oregon. Or something.

Yes, you're so educated. Tumblr genders are real and all that.

@catchamber

My mistake, I was under false impressions from news I've read regarding the topic. It's a little more complicated than I (or Penny) implied.

(Paraphrasing:)

Under modern U.S. law, suicide is no longer a crime. Some states, however, classify attempted suicide as a criminal act, but prosecutions are rare, especially when the offender is terminally ill.

The "some states" part is much more important than was emphasized there, however.

A case that reached the Virginia Supreme Court, Wackwitz v. Roy (referred to in Wikipedia) pivoted about the legality of suicide. From the decision:

We are aware of only one legislative enactment that addresses suicide as a crime. Code ยง 55-4 provides that "[n]o suicide ... shall work a corruption of blood or forfeiture of estate." Thus, although the General Assembly has rescinded the punishment for suicide, it has not decriminalized the act. Suicide, therefore, remains a common law crime in Virginia as it does in a number of other common-law states. See, e.g., Southern Life & Health Ins. Co. v. Wynn, 29 Ala.App. 207, 194 So. 421 (1940); Commonwealth v. Mink, 123 Mass. 422 (1877); State v. Willis, 255 N.C. 473, 121 S.E.2d 854 (1961); State v. Carney, 69 N.J.L. 478, 55 A. 44 (1903); State v. Levelle, 34 S.C. 120, 13 S.E. 319 (1891), overruled on other grounds by State v. Torrence, 406 S.E.2d 315 (S.C.1991).

To constitute suicide at common law, however, a person who takes his own life "must be of years of discretion, and in his *865 senses." 5 William Blackstone, Commentaries *189; accord Plunkett v. Supreme Conclave, 105 Va. 643, 646, 55 S.E. 9, 10 (1906) ("`To constitute suicide at common law the person must be of years of discretion and of sound mind.'"). This common law rule comports with a contemporary definition of suicide. Suicide is defined as "the deliberate and intentional destruction of his own life by a person of years of discretion and of sound mind." Webster's Third New International Dictionary 2286 (1981).

I believe that the "only one legislative enactment" refers merely to Virginia state law, not nation-wide law.

Thus, in Virginia, and other states, suicide could be treated as a common-law crime. However, in United States v. Hudson, it was ruled that such common-law convictions are not allowed at the federal level.

Also, on assisted suicide. Yes, illegal in most places.

@KatherinWinter In this case, Bastian wants you to keep the idea you're enslaved to him as a secret. One option to gain sympathy that may be something she can suggest/tell to Bastian, if she were to say "What if I we're to say, I'm escaping from a beastkind here who has me enslaved. I need refuge." and since this city is clearly divided down race lines to the point of building for war. This could be an effective method to gain entrance and not have anyone question your presence.

And, she can't know who to approach. She's presumed to change her appearance frequently. I wanted to let you have a little more control, and let you roleplay through it. Whether by inferring from my direction, or if you'd be so inclined. Come up with such yourself. (Maybe you somehow recognize somebody you shared a cell with. Who just so happens to be the person in question. I dunno. I don't mind a little impromptu story building from the other side.) I don't want to lead everything, if you wanted to have some direction. You could do so in this case. But the person in question, is very much there. (least how I was going to write it, if you wanted to simply go with the flow of how I'd write the scenario.) And if/when I come there. I'll know them immediately. (how, I won't spoil. Because where's the fun in that? ;P)
"no u" - SleepingSilence

It was a joke, you don't heff to be mad.

No u.
Ooof, that's a lot to ask for from our pal SleepingSilence. Sweeping generalizations and using personal anecdotes to describe 99% of the people in question is basically all he does. You're practically asking him to shut up.

Oddly, that seems like an ad-hominem that isn't actually truthful whatsoever. That is itself a broad generalization. But if I told you to stop doing that to me, or others. Than I would be telling you to never speak again. And you forgot the @ mate. ^-^
@Dynamo Frokane I can't take anything seriously on here. So not putting jokes aside for me...

Yes, I did think that sounded bitter. Dude, well aware that it's generalizing. I also don't really care in this context, because it was stating my own opinion and elaborating on it. Ofcourse it would rely on personal anecdotes. And I don't disagree that sexual attraction/sex life is the contributing factor of most marriages. Though my own argument wasn't about that, and in fact pointed out that was a problem. (even knowing, the 50% marriage/divorce stat is bunk. And most married couples, are statistically more happy and healthy folks.)

So, I'm not actually bitter to anyone who finds the right one. Good on them, I'm happy when others are happy. I'm just different, for reasons I'm well aware of and I won't go into further.

I call it bullshit progressive terms, because I'm perfectly aware I'm an outlier to societal norms, and considered abnormal as a result. I don't want, nor care if anyone believes or accepts that terminology. I won't change people's mind, and I'd prefer to just call myself straight, because realistically that's exactly what I am. I'm just not interested in having sex right now. It doesn't mean I'll never have it, or if my partner wanted it. I wouldn't do it.

Also, yes. I'm just laughing because you protest so much on this single topic. Only you and the leftist of left make this into anything but the meme that it is. Traps don't have to be gay. (Being attracted to them, for and not in spite of it. More concrete in determining sexual orientation.) Though you clearly misunderstand Traps. Because not all cross-dressers are considered traps.

Also, I don't think I've actually watched more than like a tiny handful of videos from Paul Watson...(nor have they been him wearing drag.)

Thus far you have shown me a handful of things on people I do not follow and do not care about, and know even less about.

Yeah, it's a fallacy known as guilt by association. He does this a lot...

@Dynamo Frokane Just seems like you're more bothered by it than me. Eh, eh? See what I did there? :D

Not really, least what the average person thinks when they use that word. Just not a top priority on my list. I'm not particularly interested in wasting my life away dating, as I've seen the plethora of terrible, abusive relationships, and people just behaving at their worst when they think with their dicks.

I guess if I want to use bullshit progressive terms, and you're clearly one that takes that stuff seriously. I guess I'd call myself "asexual" specifically referring to the desire to have sex. Yet "romantically attracted to the opposite sex." Just because, I know what it looks like and have dealt with the humping dog mindset where you act so fucking desperate to get someone to talk to you, being on every dating app known to man, or trying to hit it off with your friend's friends. And I find it immensely pathetic. So, let's say. I'm not currently interested in pursuing it. But it's not like I don't find that the opposite gender can't be attractive, I do. Just don't want to fuck any person I lay my eyes on, so when I actually seek out friends...I'm not trying to boost my own ego, like yourself. Or finding someone to bone, like far too many people. And people wonder why marriages don't last...

Also, even people who are castrated know traps are gay. Get with the times.
