Lyra registered the rest of the scene a moment later. "Oh, oh! Are you two having a moment?" she half-whispered. "And is that Mr... err-" He looked familiar. Must be one of those she saw during the speech? The name, inexplicably, came to her. "Mr. Manilow? Ooh."

"Do you think the other teachers know about this?" she whispered, quiet enough that only ShiZen could hear her. "Do you think... hey wait!"

They were here to find whoever had been shooting water at them, right? Okay, but it can't be either of these teachers! Ms. Hargreaves' a wind elementalist. Mr. Manilow's an earth elementalist. And there's no water gun anywhere! No, it can't be them.

She told ShiZhen this reasoning. "And I'm not letting those water squirters go. Come on, let's look for them." Before she walked off further into the fog, she called out to the pair of teachers up in the tree, like an afterthought, "Sorry for the interruption, Ma'am! Sir!"

The blackmail materials had already wobbled off her mind.

When Jordan winced, Catherine looked back at him with sudden concern in her eyes. He had told her once, in a moment of vulnerable intimacy, of his pains. She wondered if she went too far when giving him 'CPR' earlier in the day. She wanted to say something, but the words couldn't come. They always took things too far, they had gotten too close, too quickly, exposed their weaknesses and ugliness, like they were trying to make up for lost time, like they were both running from something. If love was a choice, then is it no longer 'love' when it became a 'need'? Before she could say anything, Jordan stalked off into the darkness. Hearing a familiar voice call out and begin asking questions, Catherine balled up her fist in regret, and turned to address the student. Though Lyra's question seemed biting and pointed, having met her previously, Catherine had a hunch that the girl with the violin was merely harmlessly curious. "Just a pleasant, late night stroll between two colleaugues, think nothing of it," Catherine pleasantly reassured Lyra, who seemed to be lost in thought anyways. "Good luck," she wished the pair of students as they continued through the forest. As they disappeared among the trees, Catherine tugged absently at the noose around her neck and closed her eyes tightly. Weightlessly, she lifted off the ground and flew towards the main building; she had had enough 'fun' for one night.

"Uh...eh...umm..." ShiZhen was still trying to process Lyra's question, when Catherine answered. "Y-yeah, i-it's probably not...that..." ShiZhen said, blushing in the dark. Suddenly Lyra went searching for the source of the water, so ShiZhen automatically followed, though she offered Catherine a respectful bow. "W-wait for me!" ShiZhen called, "I-I don't think we should go looking for trouble!"

In case I've got fellow muslims here: Eid Mubarak!

Also, apparently there'll be plenty of travelling to visit families the next few days for me, so I might not get good enough internet. Sorry if I end up being a little late.

Assalaamu alaikum! Eid Mubarak! Fellow Muslim here!
@Pirouette
Noted.

Out of curiosity, is the picture for Marcus working for everyone? I ask because I've had mixed words from multiple people on the matter.

"Whatcha playin'?" Shakti asked Elpoy looking over his shoulder, having seemingly crawled out of nowhere. This conversation was not struck up at random. Shakti had seen first hand how ridicule of one's difficulty with a language could make someone close in on them self; after all, both his parents had been mocked for their Indian accents. Shakti had seen and heard some of that ridicule being thrown Elpoy's way the previous day, so had decided to just be a comforting, nonjudgmental presence. Shakti's halo was glowing brightly and tilted backwards, a sign that he was in a good mood, and ready to be open and friendly. He brushed back a long strand of golden hair behind his ear. The hair and the halo were pretty clear signs from a young age that he would develop a quirk, since many quirks had physical symptoms.

Shakti was super excited for their hands-on hero experience, and just as excited to see New York City. Although Shakti was born and raised in the heart of Silicon Valley, the Big Apple, from what he'd heard, was a different beast. He wondered what mentors they would have, as well as what team he'd be put in. He scanned around the bus, wondering what everyone's quirks were.

Catherine wasn't actually going to hurt Jordan, just scare him a bit.

Catherine chuckled to herself as she noticed the startled reaction her set up had on a hapless student, but her mirth was cut short as she realized that the one she had frightened was no student. She lowered herself towards Jordan, noting the bright pink name that the other teacher had labeled his water gun with. "Cute." She thought to herself sarcastically, though to be honest, she was a little hurt. Though she had appreciated how fun-loving Jordan was in the time they had spent together, she felt that in the end, he never took anything seriously. Maybe he was trying to cover up sad moments with happy moments, or maybe they were never able to truly get in sync when it came to their emotions. But the fact that he would use her name and a particularly intimate piece of clothing on a water gun, quite frankly, felt objectifying. Maybe she was nothing more to him than a piece of sexy, or maybe this is just his crass attempt to get her attention again. It was always hard to tell with Jordan, and Catherine didn't want to play guessing games anymore, she was all done with mind games by the time he found her on the street years ago.

Catherine hovered down to Jordan, smiling wordlessly and not letting her face betray her thoughts, until she was standing right next to him. Placing a hand on his chest to still his rapidly beating heart, she moved in closer to whisper seductively in his ear, "Was I that much of a squirter?" The hand on his chest suddenly balled up into a fist, grabbing the scruff of his shirt threateningly. "You know what they say about the vacuum of space? No one can hear you scream..."

With the fog and the increased dampness it was basically impossible to see very far away. It didn't seem to deter Lyra, however, as she walked on right through it in the direction where she thought the water came from. "Hellooo?"

"Students are coming," Catherine gently whispered and released her hand, patting Jordan's chest and smoothing out the wrinkled material, turning around to face the oncoming pair of students.

"I-it's not a matter of winning or losing..." ShiZhen protested mildly to Lyra as she followed her towards the source of the water. Looking up she was surprised to see, not upperclassmen, but two teachers, standing there pleasantly (well one of them was). "Wha...what?" ShiZhen didn't think the teachers would be in on it, and was having a hard time processing whether this school took itself seriously or not.

Well fuck me. Also, it IS 10 accepted characters right now, Remial had a touch of confusion on some things but we're discussing that.

The co-gms and I may inject a few more apprentice chars, depending on how things go.

Whoops, I did exclude Etrius in my count, but accidentally included Marcus.
I just realized, of 11 accepted characters, 9 are male, and only 2 are female. I hope future applicants can even the ratio out a bit.
...a trap.

I prefer the term 'otoko no ko'. 'Trap' implies that someone else's confusion of my character's gender is more relevant than my character's desired gender expression.
