I am, but look at him.
*Motions at Alan, who just raises an eyebrow.*
Do you think i could even have a chance of forcing him to switch forms?
He is just too lazy from what I've seen.

There's not much desire there.

*Takes another, slightly larger bite*

Neurons. Glucose. Dopamine.

But this is affecting everything. I literally had to take a couple seconds to remember that it's "affecting" not "effecting" in that previous sentence. My mind isn't just shifting focus, it's losing focus on everything. And I don't have any passion and effort to give. Even my dreams for the future leave me unmotivated. Things I enjoy doing I end up getting bored with immediately. And I'm not talking about things I could do years ago. 6 months ago I could learn a new incredibly complex concept easily, and now I can't understand things half as complex. Even my personal imaginations have lost their appeal and creativity. There's just nothing left from me.

That's a different scenario altogether. Losing a purpose in life causes your emotional and perceived mental state to deteriorate immensely. In that circumstance, you have to provide a motivation based on your will. Even if you don't like it, force yourself to do it and get better at it, and everything else will adjust accordingly. Let your willpower be your drive, and even if that isn't it, allow the state of nothingness to push you away instead of pull you in. Virtually everyone feels worthless at some point or another, but it's a matter of pulling yourself out of the rut instead of sitting there to simmer.

Alan:I do know her, it's just that she doesn't recognize me in this form, probably due to the fact that if i switch forms my personality shifts to a more energetic one.
-...*Shrugs.*
Maybe what he said? I don't know.
*Finishes off the last cinnamon roll in a second.*
Anyone got more?

<Snipped quote by Extra>

Alan: Meh.
-Could i have that box?
*Points at the one not being bet on.*

And you're not the slightest bit curious?
<Snipped quote by Techspert>

No, David is borrowing hat. What else Bet?

We're pirates, Sreig. You don't get your hat back until I become the Pirate King, or you win the bet. It's how the world works.

<Snipped quote by Techspert>

I guess mine doesn't run that deep, then.

*Shrugs*

You're presuming a lot about me then. I used to be able to learn things easily. Quantum physics? No problem. Give me a wiki page and I'd know it inside and out. Now I can't even understand the same pages. I'm not strong. I have literally no redeeming qualities beyond an inability to not help when I feel I can. Humans are trash, but I'm pretty much bottom of the barrel trash, and nothing you say is going to change that or convince me to pretend otherwise. I've accepted it, it's fine. Don't worry about it.

The neuroplasticity of the human brain allows it to learn and reduce skill in areas depending on how they're reinforced. Each neuron or neuron matrix establishes a "knowledge-base" that the rest of the brain utilizes in order to "know." When you learn something new or work on an existing skill, the existing paths are made stronger, while new paths aren't made as often. The reason new concepts can be learned so easily as a child is because this acts as a network of roads, where a new, small road can be added relatively easily and often. As you age, the small roads begin to be replaced by stronger and faster "highways," where thoughts occur more efficiently. When building your neural "highways," your subconscious decided that certain skills could be better used in other areas, hence a more difficult time understanding quantum physics, but an easier time understanding the complexities of human emotion. The way to rebuild highways or make the current roads larger is to put passion and effort into whatever you want to achieve.
<Snipped quote by Techspert>

That's Sreig's hat.

Maybe if you win the bet.

<Snipped quote by Techspert>

Nnot really. But I can taste.

There's a complex matrix of nerves and receptors that make taste an experience for humans.
<Snipped quote by Techspert>

*gets closer and lifts the eyepatch*
What and how much does David bet?

<Snipped quote by Techspert>

*gets closer and lifts the eyepatch*
What and how much does David bet?

*Points to my head*
I bet you this hat.
<Snipped quote by Techspert>

I can do it. I just... Blech.

Do you even have an appreciation of taste?
<Snipped quote by Techspert>

Bleh. I've been losing any potential I had. I'm forgetting basic things, having trouble relearning things, I've lost my creativity... There's just nothing for me to give even if I had the motivation.

That could work.

I'll look into it.

That's a part of life; sometimes it's harder to learn and sometimes it's easier. The key is to resist, regardless of what life throws at you because you're strong.

*Scoots away from you*

<Snipped quote by Techspert>

Hmph.
*Takes a nibble out of it*

Are you even capable of this? Don't gunk up your gears.
