Bio

I have been writing as a hobby for longer than you have been alive. I have been a regular member and roleplayer of no less than fourteen different online forums during that time (including the old RPG), five six eight of which no longer exist.

I was previously a regular on the Homestuck forums, but I became so sick of thread turnover there that I asked around and eventually found the Guild. Since joining, I have exclusively only participated in Advanced RPs. Before Mahz gave NRPs their own subforum, I used to be an NRP regular in the Advanced Subforum. I am a Guildfall survivor, and know/regularly write with a few others.

If you ask anybody who has written with me in previous RPs, they should tell you that I have a generally open schedule, I post regularly and in a timely fashion, and I never drop an RP once I join unless the thread dies. Some of them may tell you that I have extensive expertise within the realms of Biology, Psychology, and Physics, which I will make no effort to validate since there is no way I can provide hard proof of aforementioned alleged expertise to anybody over the internet (though I am happy to try and answer any questions you send my way).

My favorite fandom is the Myst franchise, which seemingly nobody other than me has ever heard of.

I was a Contest Moderator for the Writing Contests Subforum for just a little bit over two years. I wrote the Moderation Policy for that subforum and I ran a contest called the Twelve Labours; you can still go there and see all of them and the entries people wrote for them in the Contests Section and the Victory Archives.

I have been quadruple secret banned from the guild discord. That is not a joke.

As Yegor charged into the warehouse, Tracton simply knelt on the ground and became still. The warehouse might not have been connected to the matrix or had any nodes, but the same wasn't true of the muscle packed inside, and she had plenty of time to make them start regretting their choice of career while Yegor slowly tore centimeters across meatspace. Running Hot, even on the public grid, time slowed to a crawl as her persona manifested within the sparse desert of the warehouse. The moving icons for the trolls' and orcs' augmentations, weapons, and commlinks were all arrayed before her, unmoving, undefended, and all isolated from one another.

Every Shadowrunner team that wanted to last for more than two runs had a Decker, and the reason for that was solely to protect themselves from other Deckers. Anybody who had augs after the second Matrix Crash, unless they specifically went for throwbacks or had gone far out of their way and deep into their pockets, had augs with wireless capability. Even a child with so much as a finger prosthetic had at least a biomonitor installed as well. Any decker who knew what they were doing could force their way into any kind of aug's innards, whether they had their wireless features disabled or not, and if there was one thing you did not want to happen during a run it was for some Spider to start shutting off every bit of wire and metal in your body - or worse.

Traction idly activated her agent program, and a lithe, spindly construct resembling a twisted insect spirit materialized in a flash of light. Without any prompting from her, it drifted past the set of icons representing Yegor and began autonomously applying sleaze programs on the fly to every device belonging to the unknowing muscle. Their smartlinked weapons, their augs, and their commlinks alike. The smart ones among the bunch had slaved the rest of their devices to their commlinks, providing them with limited Matrix firewalls - but every commlink in the room combined couldn't have protected their users Traction's codeslinging. Even as Yegor finally reached the warehouse doors and threw them open, every device in the room had been marked once. Traction herself started to move back and forth along with the agent program, and by the time Yegor had thrown his second flashpak she had two marks. By the time his shot reached the fire extinguisher, she had three, and with that came the beginning of the end.

Traction went to and from each commlink in turn, manually reformatting each device and slipping snoops into their operating systems. Those she would leave intact, just in case any of these meatheads lived to talk to anybody more interesting later. Once she had made sure all was well there, she signaled her agent program and they both started shunting dataspikes into every device that wasn't a commlink.

Back in meatspace, one of the orc guards fell flat on their face as their prosthetic left leg went dead. Another crashed into a stack of crates as their right arm locked up and became a fancy anchor latched onto their shoulder. They were the fortunate ones - An orc and a troll who had wired reflex packages both collapsed as seizures wracked their bodies, spasming and frothing in anguish as their neural boosters and adrenal simulators started shooting raw pain through their every nerve and fiber.

Worst yet came when most of the remaining gunmen decided to indiscriminately open fire on Kali only for their weapons to completely fail. For a few of them, the clips for each of their guns were comically ejected to clatter on the ground, while for others the trigger simply locked itself in place. The only mercs left in the warehouse still in commission were those using throwback weapons without smartlinks, and who didn't have any hardware augs.

Jacking straight out of the Matrix, Traction rose from the dust outside the warehouse and, without any fuss or hurry, walked inside with her ingram smartguns ready in either hand. She was ready to fire on anybody still standing - enough of them were already incapacitated or writhing in pain on the ground for her purposes of ensuring a few of them lived to feed her data later. She had no compunction about geeking any and every one of them still standing if either Kali, Yegor, or Recluse didn't manage to mop them up by the time she got inside.
Also, haven't looked over IC stuff yet, but addressing (now super old) OOC questions that had come up... Cath will be officially dropped, meaning that she'll be an NPC. I have no intentions of controlling her more than I have to, it's just not something I find fun, so we can pretty much do whatever in that regard. Iunno, if somebody has an actual plan they'd want to enact IC, let me know.

As far as augs go for our trogs, (if any are left, like I said, haven't run through the IC yet) they've all got smartlinks, a couple with wired reflexes, a fake limb or two (go nuts, I'm not gonna clamp down on the nitty gritty, do what you want within reason.) Nobody's got anything way out of whack, but the standard samurai kit is basically present, just scattered in between them.

Perfect, I'll post tomorrow then.
Does the "prize" have to be the same for the protagonist and his/her allies? In other words, if the protagonist succeeds, the protagonist gets "Prize" A. If he/she fails, the allies get "Prize B".

That works, so long as the protagonist is denied prize A.

I've got a question.

There's a story I've been working on for a long time, off-and-on. Haven't been able to carve out enough time to write the conclusion, but this is *almost* a perfect fit.... but only if there's nuance involved. It's about a noble lord gradually rejecting his nation to save his own (conquered) lands. So he's totally the ambitious guy, going it alone except, he's got subordinates following him. Most of those people are along for the ride all the way through. So even though he's 'Going it alone' in terms of the court nobility, he's bringing his lieutenants with him (most of them anyway), and those would be his 'friends' as described by the challenge.....

typing it out, I feel like that doesn't actually fit the labor. BUT IF IT DID, I would really love to finish it and share it here. It'd be crazy stupid long and I think one of the better big-pieces I've written.

No special treatment..... is that (plausibly, assuming I actually write it correctly) a fit for the challenge? I've got plenty of other ideas if that's better.

You know as well as I do that all entries should be written specifically for the contest at hand. If you feel it still qualifies, do as you will.
Fourth Labour is Live. Proceed at will.
The Twelve Labours

The Fourth Labour ascends. For those of you who are just dropping in and have no idea what this is, take a peek at The Twelve Labours Introduction Thread (it's a quick read, I promise).

A brief announcement. After the unpleasant revelations surrounding RPGC#2, 3, and 4, there is now a new set of Moderator Policies. The new policy post has been appended to rule #3, so read that one extra carefully. This is why we cannot have nice things. As a front-up warning, all accounts which submit an entry will be checked to ensure none of them are alternate accounts which have been blacklisted.

Regarding the Third Labour: The Contest Mod toolkit is unfortunately still undergoing development, and @Mahz is taking a break to catch up with real life for a bit. So rewards are going to be delayed in their issue, though all winners of TTL#3 will receive them retroactively eventually. All winning entries have been added to the victory archive however, so there is that at least.

A special call-out to @Holmishire, @Psyga315, and @WiseDragonGirl. All three of you have won each of the proceeding Labours. I dare you to lose this one. If you can just endure another paltry eight Labours after this one (and let me tell you, I am really looking forward to TTL#8), there may even be something special waiting at the end for those who are Twelve Times the Victor.

Let the Fourth Labour commence. Submission ends at Objective Midnight, September Twelfth.
Entry Rules:

1. Jaffar's (left) thumb.
2. Follow the standard guild rules.
3. Obey the Dark Lord Sauron's rules as well (just to cover all the bases).
4. Follow MY rules too. Let it never be said we did not warn you.
5. Send your entry to @Terminal by September 12th.
6. Be sure to include whether or not you want your story to remain anonymous! I will add your name only if I am given your permission!
7. Any explicit/mature material must be kept off-site. I will only post links to them with NSFW notices.
8. I reserve the right to simply toss out any story if it doesn't possess a basic modicum of good sense and taste. Don't make me.
9. All stories must adhere to a certain standard of quality expected of good storytelling.
10. You must use your own characters. Preexisting characters from franchise settings may only be alluded to.
11. If your setting is borrowed from a franchise, make sure to include a disclaimer and credit the original inventor of the setting used.
Prizes:

All winning entries will receive a forum trophy as well as a unique, custom forum title which they can activate and deactivate at their leisure. Additionally, winning entries of particularly exceptional quality will be awarded Challenge Accolades.

All winning entries will also be saved to a public archive, a link to which will be permanently available in my signature! I personally post in the News and Discussion subforums of the guild to congratulate and announce the winners as well. As a reminder, unless you specifically give me permission to include authorship of an entry, every posted story will remain anonymous (awarded trophies can also be hidden in your user profile, so you will not show up if people are examining the trophy groups).
The Fourth Labour

Gratitude cannot be sent across burnt bridges.

Voting closes in a few hours. Make sure to get your vote in if you haven't gotten around to it yet.
Sorry for my lack of posting. Have been a bit busy/under the weather. Will get a post up tomorrow at the latest.

Perfect, good to hear.
Oh hey this is here.

EDIT: Oh shit Flagg you actually changed its name to Terminal Mechs INC.? How the hell am I supposed to operate? I wanted to run under a different name and I can't compete against myself!
@TerminalStrange, I see the picture just fine.
Perhaps it's kept within my browser's memory?
Either that or as it tends to be at times with image sharing sites certain people may not see pics for some reason.
I go check it.

EDIT: No, I can see the image clearly even on different browsers.

Nonetheless, your map is broken. Most imagery (save for your map) is appearing just fine to me.
