Final Fantasy: Stranger in Paradise is the funniest shit I've ever seen while also not being a bad game. Just crack open some cold ones with the boys, blare Limp Bizket, and Kill Chaos.
"...Were there THIS many people last night?" Vani asked himself aloud, muttering a bit as the fledgling paladin emerged from his slumber. Clutching his sword against his chest with his shield tightly strapped to his arm, Vani had slept through the night with every possession he had in the world contained in his pockets and hands. It was a sad existence to some, especially since one of those was a half empty bottle of cheap wine, but...
No actually, that was just sad. His mind raced with all the possibilities that 250 gold pieces could present. That was like...add 50...carry the 4...
It was a lot more gold than he ever made smithing swords. That's all he knew. A LOT more, considering he'd never even seen a gold piece in his life with the cheap swords his dad had him making.
But, regardless, the line was forming to get in and Vani didn't have the patience for crap like this. Especially when he saw some girl just blitz her way past and vault over one of the walls. He knew that people had already gone inside and were searching but...damn. He needed a way inside, and fast. And that's when he came to notice the woman attempting to squeeze on through a crack in the wall, and an idea struck him. And then it struck his shield. Raising his shield aloft, Vani would smirk as lightning began coursing through it. Divine power coursed through the simple metal shield.
Goddess Lolan, grant me your might! With my faith and your storms, let the path be cleared!" Vani would say, chewing the scene before he slammed his shield as hard as possible into the most damaged wall around, managing to clear it about halfway down its length; A perfect height for him to simply climb over and into the ruins. Smirking at his handiwork, Vani would hurry to lift himself up and over the wall, rolling to his feet inside the ruins. A smirk crossed his lips as he exclaimed: "Lifetime of mead and good inns, here I come," before bolting off at a pace that betrayed his actual strength. He may seem a fool to most...because he is...but there was no denying that he compensated adequately with his strength. Ancient ruins with infinite archaeological value were not comparable to a fat sack of gold in his eyes.
"Hehe...I bet that showed 'em. I gotta hurry, before someone else nabs that secret. ...Maybe I can split it 50/50 with someone else and cover more ground," he thought as he began his search in earnest, eyes shining with a determination born of a need for good booze, coin, fine women, and preferably a very healthy amount of all three.
Steppe Archer couldn't help but cringe at the sight of the quest detailing the slaying of roaches...after what had happened to the Guard lady she'd been adventuring with, she hated to think of one of her companions or herself contracting that disease as well. But thankfully, it seemed her companions weren't intent on doing that one, what with the question Big Red posed of whether they could take on two quests nearby. She had a feeling he meant the Goblin Nest extermination as well as the escort mission; It sounded like a good enough idea. And they'd net over 100 copper each if they managed to complete both. Even more if they found the adventure party that had departed before. Still, she had to wonder what happened to them...were goblins such a huge threat out here? She'd heard they were tricky, and liked to gang up on stronger people to take them down fast but...she figured adventurers were tougher.
Still, it was an opportunity to earn a huge sum of money...so long as they dealt with the goblins. The escort sounded simple.
Smiling, Steppe Archer would give the Druid Girl a smile, saying: "An escort sounds super simple. Plus with the three of us, we're covered for basically anything. We have my bow, your magic, and Big Red's strength!" The girl was fairly confident they could manage. But, she would quickly add: "If we're going to take on that goblin quest while we're there though, we should bring things to heal ourselves with. After all, goblins don't fight fair."
Double posting so it can be seen outside the review of IceHeart's characters, but...
Please, put collabs in hiders.
Like, always. Just courtesy to everyone else since wall of texts cause panic attacks, infant mortality, signing your soul over to the devil, and losing custody of your kids on Christmas Eve.
Sorry for my relative radio silence the past few days y'all.
Okie-Doki, let's see if everyone can handle this one. Just know that one should steel themselves before entering within.
Name: Violet Florence
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Appearance:
Occupation: Miner/Bodyguard
Residence: Barracks
Character Focus: Miner / Tank / Aggro-Controller
Personality: Violet is in one word, adorable. She has a bright and happy personality but it is tempered by her shyness with certain subjects. Despite her age, she acts like a little girl and talks like one too. Violet has a bit of a complex about her height and weight, so you can usually find her in her dwarf form despite the reduced stats.
She can act a bit clueless and naïve at times, with the ability to turn into a cherry tomato at the drop of a hat. When she sulks, she will lower her helmet’s visor and refuse to look directly at you. Because she is a little sister character despite being a literal giant, Violet has the tendency to call everyone onii or onee-chan.
Notable Equipment:
*Ring of Size Reduction: The ring changes Violet from a 10 foot tall giant into a 4 foot dwarf. The main reason for this ring is so that violet doesn’t take up too much space in the Chateau as she sometimes got…stuck in the game. The reduction in size also effects her stats, especially the range of her taunts and other skills making her less effective at her job of defending others. Unfortunately her weight stays the same which can prove to be quite embarrassing.
The ring’s effects are only active when worn, so Violet simply has to remove the ring to return to normal size. Everything she has currently equipped is also affected by the ring.
*Tower Shield of Spell Reflection: As most of her allocated stats were put into physical defense she was gifted her tower shield as a way to compensate. As long as she is able to intercept a spell she can reflect it back onto her assailant up to tier 5, with a 30% chance at tier 6. Anything above that and the shield merely provides a lot of magic resistance, as long as the spell hits the shield and not her body.
*The Thundernyan's Mace: Despite its name the mace does not have any electrical powers or kitten powers for that matter, the only thing it has going for it is the thunderous sounds it makes when it smashes into something. The mace drastically increases her bludgeoning skills and has the ability to create a small, localized Earthquake at the location of her choosing to put the enemy off-balance.
*Guardian Angel Armor: An armor set designed with the expressed purpose of defending other players. The armor provides cutting, piercing, bludgeoning, and metal weapon resistance giving her already impressive defense stats quite the extra layer of defense. The armor gives her the *cover* skill, which allows her to designate a target and teleport in front of them to provide cover from enemy attacks; this skill can only be used once every 30 minutes however. Coupled with the Tower Shield of Spell Reflection and the combined defenses of her armor, this equipment makes Violet perfect for protecting the other members of her party.
*The Pick-Pickin-Pickaxe of Harvesting: This pickaxe is designed for hard labor in the mines and is capable of pickin' even some of the hardest of metals. The pickaxe gives her an increased chance of finding rare materials and increases her capacity for hauling larger material hauls. On the top of the axe is a heart shape for some extra moe love.
Creator Information: LadyDuMoe was a woman obsessed with making everything she could get her hands on, Moe. Everything had to be cute, kawaii, or just plain adorable. All of her characters, equipment, even her talking patterns had to have sufficient levels of Moe to satisfy her. As a result of this obsession, most of her creations were small and cute, so one of her guild mates jokingly challenged her to make a kawaii giant. LadyDuMoe took the challenge at face value and so Violet Florence was born.
No matter what creature, shape, size, or gender, LadyDuMoe made it her mission to make everything she could Moe. She was sometimes caught making, alternations, to certain NPCs which almost got her banned from the guild; thankfully she was able to restrain those urges to the point where she would only gift people items and try to chat them into making certain changes. She was good at what she did but, was rather pushy so it was hard for others to see her in a positive light.
As far as any sort of equipment or stats go, Violet seems perfectly acceptable to me. She's adorable, and her creator is probably the reason Yaoishisaurus made Zouyu a little bean of a weretiger. She's accepted.
Party composition wise she'd be pretty useful to have out and about, especially with any squishies. I suppose I could put in a mining emphasis for those tough rocks that one else else can get. Though if need be, I could tweak her and replace the smithing part with something else so she wouldn't be quite as 'necessary'. Could also add some smith bots in the Forge used mostly for maintenance and the like so Violet would mostly just be needed for making and taking care of high-grade stuff.
Didn't want to double-post, so here is the other character I had in mind for review.
Name: Talim Brighton
Gender: Male
Age: 22 [Looks 15]
Appearance:
Occupation: Scout/Spy
Residence: The Roof
Character Focus: Intelligence Gathering / Air Support / Infiltrator
Personality: Talim Trighton is a tease, to everyone. As a young pretty boy, he tends to dress in a rather, borderline fashion just to add some confusion to the mix for fun. Add that to his Illusionist skill set and you have a little trickster always ready for another round of mischief.
Talim appears to take nothing seriously, is nosy, and will never admit he is in the wrong, ever. Despite these character flaws he tends to be good at getting people to talk, no small part thanks to a little Incubus charm. With his youthful and cute appearance he tends to be especially good at getting under women’s defenses. Delving into peoples’ secrets is his naughty hobby and is not beyond doing a little dream skimming to try and snag a juicy tid-bit of information.
Notable Equipment:
*Flights of Fancy: The Flights of Fancy is a special scarf that Talim equips which gives him the ability to use Fly without any drain to his mana pool and increases his speed and acrobatic prowess by over 80%. This boost allows him to keep up and even outmaneuver natural fliers such as large birds and harpies.
*Amulet of Misdirection: A pair of cute hairclips to keep the bangs out of his eyes, they are both fashionable and useful. The hairclips sport a 40% boost to his illusion skills and has a passive that makes his speech more persuasive to the listener. This was a personal gift from LadyDuMoe herself, not that Talim would ever admit to caring about that.
*Shortsword of Maiming: The shortsword has the ability to maim and cripple a target when hit. Of course that sword can do that naturally but has an added debuff that can trick a target into a crippled status. The debuff is not a physical wound and merely sends a signal to the brain that a limb has been rendered useless. The debuff only lasts a few seconds to a minute at most and the more armor a target has the harder it is to put on a potential victim. The weapon is great for putting an enemy off balance to set up for a fatal strike.
*Barb Du Finale: Talim has a secondary weapon on the end of his tail, a metal barb with armor piercing properties. The classic way to use it is to distract an opponent with his shortsword, while masking his tail with illusion magic to hopefully give a fatal blow to the enemy. Along with the armor piercing abilities it has a very high critical hit rate, making it great for finishing the job or at least taking out a huge chunk of hit points.
*Just-A-Peep Spyglass: Talim has a small, retractable spyglass that he will often use when scouting around, or just spying on residents of the Chateau. The spyglass has very impressive zoom magic and comes with magic filters to help pierce through anti-information magic barriers. The spyglass has a clear image feature as well which can help with the blur one might see while looking through something like frosted glass for instance; Very useful for information gathering and tracking enemy movement.
Creator Information: LadyDuMoe was a woman obsessed with making everything she could get her hands on, Moe. Everything had to be cute, kawaii, or just plain adorable. All of her characters, equipment, even her talking patterns had to have sufficient levels of Moe to satisfy her. While all of her creations had to be at least moe in looks, that did not always spill over to her NPCs’ personality. “After all, sometimes the strongest moe can be seen in the extreme contrasts between looks and temperament. While a charming child is the ultimate moe, a beautiful brat can also be a feast for the senses!” Or so LadyDuMoe once said to one of her guild mates who merely pretended to listen to her rants.
No matter what creature, shape, size, or gender, LadyDuMoe made it her mission to make everything she could Moe. She was at one point caught making altercations, to other’ people’s NPCs, which almost got her banned from the guild; thankfully she was able to restrain those urges to the point where she would only gift people items and try to chat them into making certain changes. She was good at what she did but, was rather pushy so it was hard for others to see her in a positive light.
Name: Vani Silverstream Age: 57 Gender: Male Race: Wood Elf
Artist Credit: 純珪一 Height: 6’7” Eye Color: Orange Hair Color: White
Personality. When someone thinks of a paladin, the last person they might think of would be Vani. In place of chivalry he holds revelry to be his core tenement, seeking enjoyment wherever he goes. He's a lover of wine, women, and boasts, holding the firm belief that any adventure is worth having so long as its enjoyable. He may shirk duties that he finds loathsome, but when it comes to having a swordarm at your back, worse than Vani exist out there. He is loyal to those who show him respect, and despite his negative qualities at least understands that a paladin exists to protect people from evil. If Vani suspects that he can help with a problem, he'll offer his services immediately, boasting that it would likely pose no threat to a man of his caliber.
...Put simply, he's a pain in the neck.
History: Wheras most paladins enter their service through tenements of fate, Vani entered it from a childish fit. At the ripe young age of 46. Born the son of a blacksmith and without a mother figure beyond his third year, Vani always resented the simple life that he was born into. As such, he'd try to escape from under the thumb of his father as soon as he worked up the nerve. The simple village of Marinkarn was one that had a rich store of iron present in its mines. Simple farmers, miners, and a few merchants made there home there. It was an idyllic, simple little village...which made it terribly dull to one with such grand ideas of adventure and wanderlust as Vani. He'd admittedly come to love the place, and later in his life would regret leaving in the way he did. But, for his ends, he abandoned it as soon as he had enough money to ensure that he could travel.
Running away with one of his father's swords, Vani would enter the service of the church of Lolan, Goddess of Celebration, Storms, and Weddings. It was a simple enough procedure, but it would create a rift between Vani and his father that has lasted for years to come. The reason he chose this church is, frankly, the most selfish one can imagine. As the Goddess of Celebration and Weddings, Lolan's followers are not barred from the usual prohibition placed on clergy for its members to marry and have children. It was a very selfish reason, but Vani always figured that someday he'd settle down with a nice girl after he got the adventure out of his bloodstream. Maybe get stupid rich and famous while he was at it. While Vani had always been a bit of a vulgar and lazy sort of person, the sheer contempt he held for his noble "betters" in service of Lolan drove him to better himself...at least, in terms of ability. Born lame in the brain, Vani would instead focus all his talents on swordplay and training, seeking to become a man worthy of being knighted in full as a paladin.
Sadly, due to a mix of his own loose tongue and his inability to master some of the more intermediate paladin spells, he was passed over for the Rite of Advancement. Left behind by his brothers and frustrated with himself, Vani would leave the Church on an unofficial pilgrimage, feeling that he had wasted ten years of his life, and wanted to finally go out and seek adventure on his own terms. Strangely, despite leaving the church improperly he is still capable of using the spells of their order. Perhaps it is because he never lost his faith in her, but rather the tenements of her followers, Vani is still considered to be under the watchful eyes of the Storm Queen. Now, having wandered around for a year on his own, Vani has accumulated a bit of adventuring experience at his own pace.
...Of course, now he was shunned by his brothers, not welcome back home due to leaving his father high and dry, running tavern tabs out on towns that he couldn't afford to drink in at the first place, but...y'know...at least he's killing a few goblin nests here and there. And so the fool of a paladin would march on to the beat of his own drum, unbound by his church, and lacking any home to call his own. ----- Level: 19 Class: Paladin Profession: Blacksmith

Because of Vani's relatively low mana pool, he enjoys using this in short bursts during combat as it ends the fight a hell of a lot faster if the other guy is a smoldering charred mess.
Lay on Hands: The most basic of healing spells. Paladins are not clerics, and as such generally are not taught much of the healing arts beyond this spell. The user transfers a bit of their stamina into healing magic that must be delivered via direct contact. Vani scarcely uses this.
