Melanie noted with a hint of irony how quickly all the blood rushed to Megan's cheeks as she tried to speak and she couldn't help but run away with it a little, if only to get her back for getting so under her skin earlier when the lesson had started. She couldn't deny that she found it amusing that the Ravenclaw had appeared so confident earlier but now that she was faced with having to speak with her directly Megan seemed to be balking and unsure of herself.

"No, actually, I'm just standing here for my health." she retorted, remaining silent just long enough to make the Ravenclaw panic before the Slytherin girl flashed a mischevious grin and rolled her eyes. "Of course I'm waiting for you."

The dark Jedi paused as she slipped behind a half fallen support structure, the dim light filtering in from the holes in the ceiling of the tomb providing her with enough visibility she needed to see her quarry. The other woman had no idea that she was even being pursued. There were techniques, both with and without the Force, that allowed one to muffle their footsteps and remain unnoticed. Techniques she had been practising for many years, with the help of both her father (when he had the time to offer her extra tuition in secret, which was few and far between now with the war effort in full swing) and through the guidance of her formal mentor.

Now, she had to remove this obstacle or she could kiss the apprenticeship to Lord Bracknell goodbye. And that was not a negotiable option. She had trained in the ways of the Sith since her father Khoan Saal had removed her from Onderon upon discovering her sensitivity to the Force. Before her mother's whisperings of these 'Jedi' could taint her thoughts too far against their Empire, perhaps it had been a little rushed but it had been worth the risk. The young acolyte had fallen into the training as easily as Khoan had hoped, and soon had little need of his teachings though she always insisted upon it, if only to impress the other Sith Masters, especially Bracknell whom she had hoped to gain favour, and eventually an offer of apprenticeship, from. She had almost succeeded too, carrying out the Sacrifice test with no hesitation; she'd thought that with her mother out of the way there would be nothing left to give Bracknell and the other Masters cause to doubt her loyalty, until she had returned to Korriban to find that Lysa woman had showed her face. The little ex-Jedi rat had knocked Aria right off her pedestal and she'd be damned if she was just going to sit there and let her have it.

Her fingers flexed as they closed around the hilt of her lightsaber, ready to strike as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Lysa's back was turned as she examined the tightly shut sarcophagus that contained Naga Sadow's remains. Setting her jaw, Aria made her move as she advanced closer, ignoring the crunching sound as the toe of one of her boots connected with a heap of old bones, Lysa would likely take no notice of it and pass it off for the Tuk'ata that lurked in the shadows of the tombs. Only when she was feet away from her did the Sith acolyte finally strike, the saber humming to life as she struck out at her. The scream echoed through the tomb for a few seconds before dying back down into silence.

The Slytherin stifled a laugh as she gently grabbed hold of the rat before it could skitter too far out of her reach, she balanced it carefully on one palm as she re-arranged some of the bedding in the cage to make it more comfortable before replacing the rodent there and scratching it lightly between the ears. "There you go, little guy." she grinned across at Alyssa encouragingly, glad to see that Professor Cunningham agreed with her that Alyssa was better at Potions than she gave herself credit for.

Melanie nodded politely to the Professor and thanked him, collecting her vial from the front desk before she hovered awkwardly as she waited for Megan, since she had every intention of taking the perplexing Ravenclaw up on her invitation to tea. If for nothing else but to just get to know her a bit better.

Turning her attention away from the mischevious Ravenclaw for a moment to attend to her own sickly rodent, Melanie managed to coax the rat into sipping small quantities of the draught at regular enough intervals. Each time it spluttered and began to cough she would wait a while for it to settle again before attempting to get it to drink more.
"Now I know it probably tastes terrible but it's gotta be better than feeling like crap for even longer, right?" Or dying from blood loss. she added as a silent thought to herself, sure the animal probably couldn't understand her the way snakes could but she still felt the need to attempt to reassure it as if it would help the animal's well being any further.

Setting down what remained of the decanter on the desk, she let the rat nestle into the crook of her arm while the potion took effect, silently praying that today wouldn't be the day Kindle decided to ignore her advice and try her luck at eating the poor thing anyway.
