Either RolePlayerGuild.com is glitching, or everyone is studiously ignoring my PMs.

Still working on my character sheet. I find that the posted requirements are producing exactly the effects (on me) that I was aiming for: in-depth character development. An unfortunate side effect is that it's incredibly time-consuming. I'm about 3/4 done, and I started several hours ago. e_e

Character Sheet:
* Given name & Family name:

If an image is provided, I must be able to see a face. Aliens do not exist as of yet. You may use either cartoon, anime, CG, or realistic pictures, or none at all. Verbal descriptions must be adequate, and preferably more engaging than an all-points bulletin. Worldview and motivations, being core to the character, must be thought-out. Background is malleable - you can come from the outbacks or with a silver spoon in your mouth. Your social standing is relatively free as well, so long as you're not playing one of the 7 Immortals. Your role on the ship must be a core active one, such as weapons officer, helm officer, captain, etc. Go for the highest ranks - you have my blessing! Every player needs to be and feel important.

@6slyboy6 Updated the CS. Thoughts?
@FallenTrinity

Solomon ascended the staircase behind the servant boy. The air clamped at his chest and weighed down his breaths, and his footfalls sent uneasy echoes in a chamber unused to living souls. The servant boy never once spoke or turned his head, leading Solomon to wonder whether he was being led into a trap. He folded his arms and exhaled - what would happen would happen. They soon came upon a little wooden door, lit by the ghosts of flickering torches that struggled against the shadows. The servant opened it to the darkness beyond.

Then, the boy spoke.
"Anything you may need has been prepared for you and you are free to move about as you wish. You will be called when she is ready."
With that, he vanished behind the door and shut it, plunging Solomon into the black.

It's a little like death, he mused as he sat down upon the dusty stone floor. Cold, uncomfortable, and void of all light. Yet, it is unlike death in that there is apprehension of impending doom that is, at best, mute when one is nearly past it. To ease his mind, he bowed his head and pushed away all thoughts and let them go. Time trundled on until at last a shrill creak broke the silence. Someone opened the door.

"Follow me."
Solomon rose to his feet and beheld the individual in his gaze. The man giving the order eclipsed nearly all the light in the doorway, but his eyes brimmed with the energy of shorter folk. Solomon gave him a nod. "Lead the way."

If the journey to the third floor was creepy, the journey to the 28th floor was intimidating. The deathly chill that permeated the lower floors intensified, and the silence grew deeper as the two men unconsciously settled in rhythmic pace. Every step seemed determined to kill him, some too high, some too short, some slippery, some arched. Though he knew that castle staircases were always designed that way, it lent little comfort to his mind already primed with a foreboding spirit. He mouthed a relieved prayer when they reached the top, only to take it back with a curse when he found himself face to face once again with yet another portal into the blackness.

"Lumine ent Luma..." he murmured, repeating the words written on archway. He slipped a sideways glance at the tall man. "Translation: Jokes are illegal." The corner of his mouth lifted almost imperceptably before he stepped once more into the darkness.

A pair of glowing lights pierced through the black. "Enter and tell me what you have envisioned," said a voice. Solomon recognized it as the voice of the Queen. He turned away from her and folded his hands behind his back, pausing to gather his thoughts.

At last, he spoke, his voice grim and laced with solemn resignation.
"I have peered into the Abyss, wherein I fell and gazed into eternity. I beheld, as it were, beasts, bearing the image and likeness of men, whose minds were forged by the hammer of Time for depravities unfit to pass the lips of the living. I beheld the Blade of the Infinite, stained red with the blood of the Undying, held in the severed hand of the Awakened One. As I looked upon the disembodied member, it grew and reformed in the likeness of a Woman. Though her appearance was so deformed by sorrow as to pass all description, I realized that I knew her, and she me. And in that moment, she raised her Blade and slew me. I fell once more and further into the Abyss, where the eternal flame licked at my heels and threatened to end me. I died a thousand deaths crawling over the bodies of the slain to return to the Portal whence I gazed."

Solomon turned to look her in the eye.

"You are that Woman."
Bah, I can't make sense of anybody else's post. Might as well treat this like a 1x1.

I could use the feedback. What sorts of things should I add to the CS?

I'm about to start. I like to have pictures of the characters, and if one is provided, it must have a face. If a verbal description is provided, it must be adequate and engaging to read. The full character sheet is as follows:

* Given name & Family name:

* Worldview & Motivations:

Is there anything else we should go over before we begin?
The Core worlds are, at once, a bastion of high civilization and a den of evil. The economy is almost totally automated - from production and services to mining, farming, and maintenance. Even science and coding are automated to some degree. The end result is that work and money have become obsolete. Any necessary economic transactions result in bartering.

Sounds like utopia right?

Wrong. Having nothing worthwhile to do with their lives, the people have wholly devoted themselves to the pursuit of pleasure. Alcohol, drugs, games, and especially sex are popular pastimes, and all manner of historic depravities occur on these worlds. The more conscientious members of society devote themselves to the pursuit of science and the arts. The military used to be an outlet for their energies until the end of the Conquest War.

The outer worlds, however, are a rather different animal. More on that later.
__________

The outer worlds are more or less postmodern, which is to say, considerably less advanced. Most of them can't even get a craft in orbit, let alone out of their solar system. And unfortunately, those that *used* to have spacefaring abilities were bombed back to the stone age duing the Conquest War. Over the last few years, some have regained some degree interstellar travel, but they're nowhere near as advanced as their conquerors. Our game will start with one of their emmisaries returning a batch of starship crew to their post around Crescent Prime.
There were multiple sources of inspiration. The chiefest of them was Master of Orion 2 (a renowned classic in the 4X genre). The setting is an original universe of mine tailored for science fantasy/fiction with magical facets, kind of like Star Wars in some respects. The universe itself is (loosely) inspired by Spiral Knights, a Zelda-like MMO in which you play a tech-knight who crashlanded from a starship on an alien world.

You know how many space empire 4X games have an extinct Precursor civilization who left behind artifacts that other empires can discover? The Crescents are supposed to be that empire. There were no other races before them, no aliens who evolved parallel to them, no previous empires for them to build upon. They were the first, the original space empire in this galaxy. The other empires only existed because the Crescents allowed them to and nurtured their development. Their time is coming to an end, and we, the players, will be witnesses to it.
The Empire has a foothold in every single star system, whether it be a core world, colony, conquered group, or military outpost. Only the core worlds produce the best starships and tech; the other worlds are struggling to catch up, or even taking different paths. While the official government is an oligarchy, with 7 Immortals on the Immortal Council, the Empire is so vast that the more remote colonies can get away with operating like sovereign states. One of your missions will be to change that.
