As the time went by River began to feel hunger take over again from all of the hard, medial task of gather ingredients for cooking. He himself wasn't able to cook but it never hurt to either sell them or find someone who could and share the meal. He quickly made his way back towards the inn after equipping his boots of travel to hasten the journey. He sat at the guild table hoping to encounter more of the them aside from Reylan and Shiba.
After a few moments of searching, Aster finally tracked down the boy she'd been messaging with: River... something. He had a last name, but it escaped her for the moment. Taking care not to catch him off guard, Aster called out "River! There you are! Sorry, I almost missed you in the crowd there! Do you need to do anything else in town, or are you ready to go?"
River looked up at the woman who called out to him. Aster was her name and she always seemed to wear such nice clothing accentuated by her long raven hair. He laughed at her comment about the crowd and smile warmly "Its no problem, and I'm always raring to go!" he said as he quickly jumped up on the seat. "The night is young and so are we! So let's watch the night away!" he face had a slight bit of concern as he looked through the crowd of the inn. "Though...I dont know where the other are..."
Aster spared the merest smile at the boy- no, the young man's comment. "Why, River, that was nearly poetic! Young we are indeed..." She trailed off for a moment, eyes unfocused as she looked somewhere just over the snappily-dressed fellow's shoulder. "Well... for the moment, what say we send them all a second message, then head out if they don't get back to us?"
River nodded in agreement as he opened up his menu searching for Shiba and Xenos's name and sending them each a message.
Xenos/Shiba
>>Hey, Aster and I are at the Inn waiting for you all. Quest should start soon so I suppose we will meet you at the quests location. -River
"Sent to Xenos and Shiba. I'm sure they'll pull through for us though. I asked them to meet us at the quests location." as he spoke River went about changing his equipment. Putting on what he deemed his 'Battle Gear'and taking of his leisure clothes then sending a party invite to Aster. "Makes it easier to view your health if we party up."
Aster arched an eyebrow at the invitation, then gently prodded the blue "Confirm" button, accepting the invitation with a smile. "All right. That's settled then. Any word from the others, or are we stuck for now?" She drummed her fingers on the table, averting her eyes as River changed, though nothing was revealed. "Not that I mind, it's a nice enough spot to wait."
River noticed as she began to avert her eyes and wondered if he should feel more embarrassed about swapping gear in public areas. This thought had never truly crossed him as he spent his first 5 days in the wilds mainly and had bathed in the lakes, so being exposed inside a virtual world meant nothing to him. "Hmmm. I haven't heard back from Shiba yet but I know Xenos was keen to meeting at the quest location. Besides, the less time he has to stop for a drink the better. Shall we?" he said motioning his head towards the door.
With a quick pat at her hip, Aster felt for her sword, and then, reassured that it was in place, nodded. Her face had little of the smile left on it, despite River's upbeat tone, and she merely followed after, contributing little to the conversation. It was time to be focused on the task newly at hand. Pleasure, it seemed, could wait.
After some walking for some time in the silence with nothing more than the minute chirpings of Pots River decided to attempt to break the silence. "So...Reylan invited Xenos and I to the guild." There was a long pause as he looked for the appropriate follow through "I figured if we are all going to be working together perhaps we could exchange our skills?" his face grew flush with red as he realized that asking a players stats is typically an mmo's taboo though was unsure if that still applies in a game of life and death. "U-u-unless of course you dont feel comfortable speaking about your stats t-then that's fine too. Heh." he began to look down at the ground attempting to avoid her gaze.
The walk was pleasant enough, the company equally so. Aster enjoyed silence, when she could get it, and River's was companionable. When he spoke, she wasn't startled, and she didn't look up until he finished speaking. With a bemused half-smile, she spoke in a calm, measured tone. "Well... I'm not surprised. Rey... That is, Reylan is very much focused on keeping the guild going strong." She paused, letting the silence grow once more, then added, "You should accept. I mean, you don't have to, but... I... that is, we would like to have you. You seem like a capable guy, and more than that, like a nice enough person. That matters a lot more, in my book." She felt her cheeks reddening, and chided herself. Why did she have to blush around anyone that paid her any attention? "So... yes, I think you should." She nodded, as if that finished the matter. "Oh, skills. No, that's no worry. Here." with a few precise, careful motions, she jabbed at the air to send her stat block to the trainer:
Receiving her skills he stared with child like amazement. Mouth a gasp the entire time marveling at what a few more levels could do. He looked at the bottom right corner of his HUD which he kept mostly active to show his Renn count...it was no where near hers." Sword wielding 35, Dancing-D-d-dancing?! 18. Unarmed combat 18 as well..." he turned to face her as he walked, pay no attention to any possible perales ahead of him as he whispered to her "Do you have some form of specialty class I havent heard of? Blade Dancer? You could combo in your sword and fists using dancing to seemlesly blend in a fury of attacks that are flowing and unpredictable making you an agile threat at close range." as he spoke his speech became more and more rapid in his excitement at the idea turning the end into a mere flash of sounds.
"Blade... dancing?" Aster said the words almost as though they were foreign to her. "I... No, not at all. Do you think that's possible? To make a custom class? I just took points in dancing because..." She looked away. "That's not important. But... If I could make this a real thing, make it work like... like you said, seamless, and flowing and all that..." She looked at the trainer with awe. "This could be something else! I mean, think about it! A fighting style that enemies aren't familiar with, at least not yet... That's something else indeed." She smiled, openly now, with more sincerity than she usually let slip through. "You might just be a genius, River."
River gave an amused chuckle as her quip about him being a genius "Oh I dont know about a genius-he spoke as he placed his arms behind his head looking towards the nights stars "But death game or not Talrae is a wonder...a game in which your class does not determine what you can do but simply points you in a direction. Combining the class system with a free for all skill system and it's free magic system as well, well, I dont see why you couldn't create the class. What's more there's title to he earned, titles that are unique to each and every player no two every repeating...who's to say yours cant be Blade Dancer Aster? Truth is anything can happen in this game. That was made clear from day one and it's what I'm here for. I'm going to be unlike any other trainer." his voice was almost like that of a dreamer in the beginning but began to turn into a more determined and confident tone as he began to speak of his dream to be a trainer like Talrae had never seen.
River quickly pulled out his menu and sent her his stats so as to keep it fair.
With the party now dissolved River thanked Shiba once more and made his way to the bank. Just as quickly as he had earned the Renn, he lost it. "I'd like to pay for my loan please." A small woman sat at the desk with rose-gold colored hair, fair skin and amber eyes hidden behind bright red glasses. Her appearance was humble and almost meek."May I have your first and last name please?""R-River Fido" he struggled to get the words out as he watched her diligently work. Searching through files until she came across his "You currently hold a debt of 325Renn that was just recently taken out. You dont aster time do you?" a cheerful laugh escaped her lips as she handed him the documents as well as a tray in which to place the Renn."If you could just Sign here, initial there, and then use this tray for the Renn. Aaaaand you're done, congratulations you've paid your debt." a sigh of relief escaped him as he feared he'd never have paid it back when he pulled it out. "Thank you...uh""Kistueki and you're welcome" a low grumble could be heard from Rivers stomach as he stood there and he was riddled with embarrassment "guess I forgot to eat. See you later!" he ran out and made his way towards the inn.
"Hey Hans! Mind if I get some grub? I'm starving" the inskeep gave a deep guffaw as he began to put in an order for River who took his place at the table the guild tended to sit at. He did so in Hope's that he may meet more of them as he relaxed and ate for a bit. In the time it took for the food to be prepared River summoned Pepper once more and then sat there and meditated to regain back his lost MP. Once he finished meditating he found the food was placed before him and he began to dig in savoring every bite and feeding Pepper some here and there. Now full and rejuvenated River got up and paid Hans for the food before stepping out in his new fancy Clothes and began to head outside to gather cooking ingredients using this Botany and Gathering skills. Pepper stood on his shoulders the whole while watching his back, flying up and encircling the area every so often to insure a spawn hadn't occurred nearby and would aggro onto River. This went on for around 3 hours occupying the restof his day.
Summary -Paid Debt (-325 Renn) -Bought Food (-10 Renn) -Current Renn (119) -Gathered Cooking Ingredients ( 3 hours worth ) -Meditated (Regained all lost MP)
As River awoke for the morning he noticed Shiba's message and quickly responded while he was beginning to sit up on the bed, using one hand to wipe away the tiredness from his eyes and the other to navigate the menu to open up the message.
Shiba
>>Hmmm I was looking at my map and realized it's a far walk to traverse one foot, about a full days journey at least. Fighting them at night is most likely unwise especially so close to the dungeon. I wish there was some way to teleport in this game aside from the Crystal's you can buy to get to town. There's boots of walking but I really dont need anymore debt. If you have any ideas feel free to message me ASAP so we aren't killing daylight. -River
Shiba looked at the new message and sighed not realizing that it would take that long to get there. If so then they needed a plan, he did mention some boots that would help but he was broke. Shiba had noticed them back when he was shopping but didn't really see the use for them until now. If they could double their speed they would get there by midday at most. He then messaged back: "alright meet me in the market today then. I still have enough renn to buy us those boots, think of it as my gift you. Besides I'm planning to get a business started in this game so 400 renn will be peanuts soon ;) before he pressed send to see what he would think of that
No sooner had he sent the message than he had gotten a reply. Shiba must be an early riser... then again I just like to sleep in a slight chuckle escaped his lips as he stood up and stretched for the day then sending back a message
Shiba
>>Sure! I'll meet you at the market after I get some breakfast. My friend wanted to make some sort of pact with Reylan so I'm kinda the intermediary at the moment. Besides, apparently the game doesn't allow the sewing skill to fix beginning clothing so I need a fresh pair...its about all I can afford lol -River
Shiba smirked a bit at the response saying that he would meet him there. Shiba was already out the door by the time he received it. He then went to the market and waited at the store where he last saw the boots happy to see that they were still on sale. He didn't know if he would be any good at wolf catching but he honestly wanted to try. Having a pet wolf would be so cool even if his class wouldn't allow that. He waited patiently at the stall expecting him to find him easily since the shop keepers were just waking up as well.
Now that River has finished his meeting with Xenos and Reylan he hurriedly stood up waving the pair goodbye and apologizing for the abruptness "Sorry! Gotta see a man about some boots!" he gave them a cheeky smile and rushed out the door. I hope he hasn't been waiting long! as he arrived at the market he began to search for Shiba and had noticed he'd been standing outside the store in waiting. "Shiba! Ohayo! I hope you weren't waiting too long on me" a childish smile beamed from him as he stopped in front of him and spoke.
Shiba looked up at the sky as morning started to appear sadly he wasn't in a position to see the sun rising but he thought about what he would do as a businessman. He wanted to sell weapons of course but he wondered if he would need to find a business partner. That train of thought flew by when he heard someone running towards him and he smiled seeing river come over. He then said "nah don't worry I wasn't waiting long just thinking about a few things. Let's get inside and get the boots and on the way to area C you can tell me about our prey" he said as he walked inside and found the boots they were looking for he then brought them to the counter and said two pairs my good man" the npc rang them up and Shiba just lost 400 renn but he would make that back easy. Once he paid for them he handed one pair to river and said "from me to you, now let's ware these out" he said with a laugh as he equipped them and walked out of the shop with him.
River brimmed with joy at the gift Shiba had given him and immediately equipped them noticing his mana bar decrease by 100 mana and a new symbol appear on his H.U.D. which showed a small green shoe with a x2 next to it. "Hmmmm I'll have to re-equip my sorcerers shoes once we arrive to be safe. Excuse me, could I also purchase one clothes armor please?" River said turning to the shop keep. Once he'd gone towards the back to fetch the item he turned to Shiba and said "Thanks again for the boots! This will make adventuring much easier in Talrae, maybe even let us get ahead of the others too." As soon as the keep came back River paid the man 60 Renn with an uneasy face and equipped his new armor. "Alright I'm ready to go!"
Shiba smiled at him as he seemed so happy to receive the boots but Shiba didn't mind. In all honesty he had a weakness for helping others and he figured that he could use them as much as him. He waited outside for him to Finish paying for his own cloths. Once he came back out Shiba smirked a bit and said "not a problem, like I said consider this my gift to you as a friend. So mind telling me more about our quest. All I really get is that we have to capture a wolf but I don't see how we could do that" he admitted since he was only a rouge he didn't know if river had any skills to tame the beast. Shiba then sent over a party request so they could get moving as he led the way out of the marketplace
Following Shiba's pace out of the market River accepted the party invite and proceeded to explain to him the intricacies of taming a beast. "Hmmm well taming in this world is so much more different than the outside world. Never the less I am capable of it. First objective is to find our prey, in this case the White Wolf. Once we do that we should cautiously engage in combat, my build allows me to heal as nessecary without a ton of strain on my mana so two man ops are not too bad. We can't kill the wolf is the catch, we have to weaken it to say...yellow or red health bars and once that's happened..." he quickly pulls out a wooden totem that at the moment bared no markings or semblance to a creature at all "I use my spell and capture him with this. After that we can deliver him/her to the council for the quest reward pretty simple huh?."
Shiba listened as he explained what they would need to do and honestly it sounded simple enough the question was how strong was it and can he really hold himself back. He thought about how it would go down mentally playing out the battle itself as he asked if it was simple. He nodded and said " yeah shouldn't be all that difficult I just need to make sure I don't perform to many burst moves. Get it weakened not dead basically. The question is how strong will it be. I do want to ask why you wanted me on this? I thought a tank would be better suited for a job like this, I can certainly dodge blows but I also cause a bunch of damage" he said giving his reasoning why he thought he wasn't all that suited to this
A thoughtful look ran across Rivers face as he attempted to find the words best suited for what he plainly wanted to say. "Well...to honest, I dont have many friends here in Talrae and spent most of my days out in the fields avoiding players. Xenos isn't much help in combat but is one heck of a tinkerer, I don't know any tanks and aside from the 'Ven twins i only know you and Reylan. He seems so busy and it's harder to watch his health when he's more ranged than I. Besides I need an agile character who can deal damage and just as quickly fall back. As to how strong the creature will be well...they're typically around level 5 or so which is good because it guarantees an easier tame. It's got three major abilities we are to look out for, the first of which is called 'Greater Howl'. This ability is an AOE or AE ability which increases the attack powers of its allies while reducing our defenses, that said it's best to try and catch this wolf on it's own and not drag more into the fray. The next attack is called 'Claw swipe' this allows him to hit two targets at once, though not a full AOE it's still a nasty thing to be struck by and should be avoided if possible. Finally we have 'Snarling Threat' another opponent debuff, it allows for the wolf to slow nearby opponents movements making them a bit more susceptible to their attacks. I didn't notice any cast bars on these attacks meaning they may not be interuptable so we should work together to insure we aren't stacked against to many debuffs." Rivers tone was much more serious from beginning to end as he spoke into details as to why he chose Shiba and about their would be capture.
Shiba listened intently as he explained everything and it made sense. Even though he didn't know any tanks that didn't stop his logic about making sense in needing an agile player rather then one that can take a lot of punishments. He would need to be careful of the snarling threat move since his abilities rely on speed and agility it would be inconvenient to deal with. Shiba then nodded in saying "can't dent your logic. I hope you know some buff spells or some debuff removal spells. The other moves I can avoid however if I get hit with the snarling threat I may be in trouble. I'm sure we can handle it since we aren't trying to kill the beast." he said with a South before smiling and deciding to lighten the mood again as he said "gotta say having a pet wolf is pretty badass, makes me envy tammers to be honest he said with a laugh(edited)
River laughed at Shibas envy of tamers "I guess so, Pots here is the best though, and that wolf is getting turned in so it's not like I get to keep it. As for debuff spells, well I'm not so sure if any are in game yet but I do have a strength buff spell. Worst case scenario if you're hit attempt to dash out of combat and Pepper can attack then switch switch with me and I'll attack as well. Keeping our front man rotating should help spread out the damage as well as keep threat levels low meaning it won't target one over the other."
He laughed a bit and nodded as he said the wolf would be turned on so he couldn't keep it. Then he mentioned how in worse case scenario to just switch so they could even out the damage. Considering neither of them could handle to much damage it was the best course of action if Shiba became unable to dodge. He then said "makes sense, I'm sure we can handle one wolf by ourselves. Although did you know what class I'm really envious of? The lancers or to be more specific their subclass reaper. Imagine an assassin looking down at you from the top of the building, the moonlight behind them as a scythe dances on their fingers. That would be so badass! I would strike fear into everyone, though I still love my katana" he said with a laugh knowing that the ideal he just describe would have to change to a bloody katana, still fearful but scythe make everyone scared.
"What's stopping you? To my knowledge any class may wield any weapon with significant practice. You may not get the special abilities a Reaper comes with but you are able to use a scythe I believe. After all, Tamers are a casting class that venture into Riders. We focus on our pets and typically wield wands or staffs for our magic which I do but..." River quickly went for his side pulling out his whip and quickly cracking it before placing it back to his side "...I'm also a combat whip user. Took some fights and practices buts it's what I enjoy."
He looked at him surprised as he said that Shiba thought that these weapons were class specific. He then watched as he demonstrated how he uses a whip while he is actually a casting class. Shiba then said "I honestly didn't know that. I thought that weapons were class specific so to speak. Not to mention that I tailored my skills to exotic weapon mastery which I thought classified the scythe along with it but to my surprise that wasn't the case. If I can wield a scythe then I'm so buying one when we get back. Though in truth I plan to hang out at the council hall to see if I can get a permit to sell weapons. I also want to see if I could start making money for the guild and you know help us get bigger as a major guild" he said telling him his plan to get a scythe and find out how to start a business.
"Mhm mhm, that was one of the many things that drew me to Talrae was it's free system, any user can use any weapon combined with their personal skill sets and unique titles which allow for very individual gameplay. Really it's all amazing, and it's a good thing we shall be going to see the Council about this wolf, who knows they may even favour you for doing this quest, and hey if you happen to have a short sword I wouldn't mind training alongside you against your scythe. "
He smirked a bit as he said that was one of the things that brought him to this game. Then he mentioned that if he had a short swords they could spar together when he got a scythe. He then said "sounds good to me though I doubt I will have enough money to afford buying both a scythe and a sword. I will definitely need to train in using a scythe properly it will be a big change since it has reach where my katana doesn't. Honestly I am not sure if their is a named scythe for sale either compared to the katana I have now he said unsheathing his katana to show him it was uncommon and was a named item. He was concerned with finding one of equal value. He then said "but hey if you are looking for light weapons I'll be sure to give you a discount he said with a laugh amazed that they have already walked so far just talking. Guess being stuck in this game isn't half bad.(edited)
River laughed at Shibas pass about selling him a discounted weapon "Of course I dont expect you to buy a short sword, i meant if you just happened to have one laying around i could use it to spar with you. After all i dont think itd be fair for me to fight you scythe against whip as mines also a named item and I'm quite good with it as well." he gave Shiba a cheeky smile then childishly stuck his tongue out and ran a bit ahead then turned around "Race ya!"
He smirked a Bit as he talked about giving him a sword if he found one walking somewhere. He then watched as he got a cheeky look on his face and said to race. He laughed and said "think your a match for a rouge agility? he said flicking river forehead you tease him back before he took off running showcasing a rouge speed and agility made them excellent runners
Eager for the challenge of the race River sprinted as hard as he could attempting to catch up to Shiba but not once gaining on him. It was as if for ever step River took Shiba took twice as many and thus stayed out of reach. Until they inevitably reached their destination.
He laughed as he actually turned astound to ruin backwards and watch river fail to catch up to him. He was taunting him as he pretended at this speed was nothing before they finally got to area C with the sun still out. He turned to river and said "maybe next time, but that's what up get for challenging a rouge. Now let's find our wolf" he said stretching a bit before putting his hand on his katana ands letting river lead the way since he knew which wolf they were looking for
River began to use his Tracking, Sneaking and Monster Knowledge skills together to find traces of the creature and its location. It was lapping water from the nearby lake and seemed to be alone. River unequipped his Boots of Travel for his Sorcerers Shoes this gaining back 100 mana. "Alright there's our mark, Pepper will go in first and spray it down with her poisonous breath; after that you'll dash in and strike using your katana while she retreats back to me. From there we assess the current hp it's at as you step away from the wolf because they'll probably use 'Greater Howl' then. "
Shiba had to admit that he was mildly impressed with how he was able to track the wolf pretty easily. He got in low and started to use his sneak ability as he followed him when they found their target he talked about their plan of attack. He nodded thinking that it was a sound strategy he then said "got it, I'll avoid using fatal strike till we know his hp status" he said quietly as he sneaked in to a closer position of the wolf signaling river to send out his pet.

River looked at Pots and smiled then pointed at the White Wolf whispering "Pepper, spray." She quickly took to the skies flying high above the wolf then spiraling down spraying a breath of deep purple poisonous gas at the wolf just before swooping immediately back up so as to avoid a possible attack from the wolf and returning to Rivers side. River turned to face Shiba and gave him a nod "Go, use the gases temporary cover to strike the foe, it should be cleared out by the time you arrive" Shiba watched his hand on his katana ready to strike before he watched rivers creature strike forward with poisonous gas. When he heard him say to strike he didn't need anymore encouragement then that. He already trusted river so he didn't need any prodding. He charged forward taking his katana out of it's sheath before slicing through the wolf from snout to tail then he jumped back before the wolf could attack checking is hp to see the damage they did.
As River watched Shiba charge forward with great speed, he readied his wand and whip each in one hand so as to be able to heal or damage as needed. As anticipated the wolf let out a howl at the sudden advances onto itself and then stood, teeth bared, ready to attack. It held its head up high and released a 'Greater Howl' in hopes to lower the rogues defenses before sprinting forward for an attack. Not far behind River quickly leapt before Shiba, cracking his whip onto the White Wolf's snout as he exclaimed "Not today you don't!" The wolf took the brunt of the damage continuing its charge of attack towards the pair causing River to use his 'Stunning Punch' allowing them a brief respite while the wolf was stunned.
The rouge jumped back ready to dodge as the wolf came forward but river took the opportunity to instead cause more damage and stun the wolf. Shiba then said "switch! and charged forward this time he dodged the wolf as it tried to bite him and instead slashed straight down on the creatures neck knowing that normally it would bleed out in moments from the blow. He then jumped back to regain the room needed to outmaneuver the wolf ready to let river switch in if he was ready.
As Shiba struck the wolf once more River analyzed the creatures health bar and noticed it was still in the green. Alright we're doing good and not hitting to hard, this should be cake "Switch!" This time the wolf was ready and unleashed his Claw swipe on River but narrowly missing Shiba as they switched positions dealing a good chunk of damage to River almost knocking him to the side. He quickly regained his footing pointing his wand towards Shiba as he began to cast a spell "Fortes! Facti! Sunt! Strengthen!" giving Shiba a +5 to his strength score, giving River 50 HP as he watched his mana drop 25 points then turning his wand on himself saying "Sanitatem! Healing Beam!" this not only healed River back to full but also allowed him to regain his mana back up to full as well.
Shiba watched as the wolf pulled back then he was told to switch and he jumped back to let river take his turn. He took the time to analyze his surroundings and see if he couldn't unleash a fatal strike since he noticed the wolf was still in the green. He was able to dodge the wolves strike instantly grateful he added all those points to his agility. Once he received rivers buff he nodded and said "switch! Time to pick up the tempo!" he said jumping upwards to the tree tops and running from branch to branch to confuse the wolf. Then when it was looking away from Shiba he jumped down bringing his katana down like a guillotine and called out "fatal strike!" he aimed for its spine glowing down and slashing through its torso which normally would have literally cut the wolf in half. He then jumped back to get ready to strike again or make a switch
It appeared the fatal strike was just what the duo needed. Immediately the HP bar plunged downwards and struck yellow. "Nice Job Shiba! Now's my time to shine!" River put his whip away and drew out the wooden totem in its place eyeing the wolf. "Animalis Autem Instituendi! Tame!" and just like that Rivers mana dropped by 75 points as a light green stream of lights flew out of his wand enveloping the creature, entangling its limbs, necks and tail as it slowly dragged towards the wooden totem. Finally the spell lifted the White Wolf off of its feet and towards the totem at rapid speeds entrapping it within. The totem then changed its shape to resemble the wolf's body with two small openings, one at the wolfs mouth and the other at its tail. A large smile spread across Rivers face as he ran towards Shiba with Pepper in tow "We did it! Shiba we did it!"
Shiba smiled as the health bar finally went down onto the yellow. He then watched as River went to work getting the wolf into the totem and he then laughed a bit as he said that they did it. He patted his shoulder and said "we make a good team. Time to head back and cash in! he said with a grin. River grinned at what Shiba had said and nodded in agreement. "You should give me a 15 second head start and then race me back again. I'm eager to show the Council of Genisis City what we were able to accomplish." With that River sped off in hopes to catch Shiba off guard and perhaps beat him in this race.
Shiba laughed as he said to give him a 15 second head start as if it would help. Shiba then started to count by Mississippi. Then when he finished he ran out quickly and it only took him moments to catch up and he said "still to slow!" he teased running out in front of him.
As the duo approached the City Hall that housed the Council of Genisis City, River clutched the totem in his hands This is it, time to prove them wrong. He saw his old friend that he'd met the day before "Hi Lizu! I come here again to speak to the council. This time... he slammed the totem onto the receptionists counter looking him in the eyes ...I have the White Wolf with me. River stopped briefly remembering that Shiba mentioned he had other business here as well "Oh! how rude of me, Lizu this is Shiba. He aided me on my quest for the White Wolf and is also here looking for information on how to open a business here in the city. Would you be so kind as to let us through so that we may speak to the council of these matters." " Welcome to the City Hall Shiba. No doubt you two must be pretty tough to of tackled this quest."
Shiba smiled as he followed next to river as they appeared in the council hall and it seemed that river was gloating about the fact that they got the wolf. He then mentioned why he was here so he smiled at the man and said "a pleasure, as for being tough not really I'm just incredibly fast" he said with a wink following behind river since this is his first time here
River walked past the receptionist and down the same hall he had gone through the day prior, all the while leading the way for Shiba and once again coming across the security placed in front of the councils door. He waved us in and there stood the three wizened men that had been there before, each eyes gaze burrowing into River as though inspecting him. "What brings you here today young adventurer? I believe we have made our position on the matter very clear." A cocky smile slowly formed on Rivers mouth as he stood before them. "That you did, then it's a good thing that I have come bearing the Whire Wolf. With my skills coupled by my friend Shibas agility and swordsmanship we were able to apprehend the creature with out so much as a sweat. The names River Fido and I suggest you remember it." a sense of pride could be felt coming off River as one of the council men stood moving closer to the pair. "We shall insure not to forget the names of Shiba and River, may you present the Creature for us so that we may see it?" With that River gave a nod and dismissed Pepper then took the White Wolf Whistle and blew into it. The sounds of a wolfs howl could be heard echoing throughout the chamber as the same green light that captured the beast seeped out of the whistle and formed into the White wolf sitting ar Rivers right hand side.
Shiba smirked a bit as he watched river tell the old men off and told them to remember the names of Shiba and river. It was a funny sight seeing the men all interested in them for taming a wolf. He could only guess why river looked so satisfied with catching the wolf. He then watched as he actually summoned the same wolf tanned from before. He walked over and stroked the wolf's fur and said "that's a good boy. No hard feelings he said with a smirks before pulling back to look at the council. "since I have your attention I would like to know about starting my own business here. Mind telling me what I would need for that. They weren't against telling him but Shiba groaned as he heard about how much money he would need to get a blacksmithing shop off the ground and he knew he would need to find a way to make the price cheaper. He had to think on it but he then said "thanks for telling me
"In regards to the quest we had put up here are your rewards, we hope you find them well." each adventurer was given a coffer that when opened contained the following items inside of it.
-1 Fancy Clothes (common) (they weren't too impressed with the way you were dressed so they gave you a set) -3 Gold coins, 3 Silver coins, D5 Copper coins, D10 Nickel coins (Does not include bounty)
in addition to those items a notification sound could be heard as an on screen display appeared. It showed the Council of Gensiss City with a bar that was labeled "favouritism" and it began to fill a bit before going off screen. Shiba and River had now gained favouritism with the Council of Genisis City which could prove useful in the coming times. After some deliberation they had instructed River as to where he may release the White Wolf so that they may study it further and so he did as they said, going where needed then using the release spell to set the wolf free for them to study and once again blanking out the totem.

"Uuuuugh we’ve been wandering around for so looooong.” Xenos complained. "I just want to get this over with so I can jack up my skills! I have plans and shit and this is not one of them!” Xenos kicked a rock on the ground before he slapped River on the arm lightly. "Just send the guy a PM and have him meet us for breakfast. My plan is going to get in the way of the festival at this rate. I’m not dropping the efficiency of gains just for this quest." Xenos frowned thoughtfully before pulling up the dashboard, groaning at the time. "I’ll just readjust my plan of attack for this.” Xenos headed off, waving quickly to River and sauntered away.
I suppose this gives me more time to gain some Renn before the festival River gave back a polite wave to Xenos as he sauntered off into the distance. He pulled up his friends list and sent out a message to Reylan
Reylan
>> Hey Reylan its River. My buddy was looking for you hoping to strike a deal on the iron mines before some other players are capable of doing so. If you could please meet us for breakfast tomorrow that'd be swell! Thanks!!
With that dealt with River decided to tackle a bigger monster, the Genisis City Council. He quickly made his way to their building where they were undoubtedly planning the upcoming festival to insure it goes off without a hitch. He was met with a young receptionist that sat there with medium length blonde hair, crystal blue eyes, and an extreme look of boredom. "Welcome to City Hall, what business do you have here?" his voice and tome was professional, though you could tell he longed to go back to his house and rest for the day. "I'm here to speak to the council about the White Wolf they requested" The receptionists eyebrow raised in curiosity towards River, his eyes now carefully examining him. "You've caught the White wolf? Alone?"there was a pause of silence " Not yet, but I shall! I am here to speak to the council on matters pertaining to the quest in hopes to further speed your research along." River spoke with a lump in his throat, the nervousness beginning to get to him. The man's face fell as all River announced he had not yet caught the beast but once again raised when declaring he would do so. " Alright, Alright. Tell you what kid, go on ahead inside and tell the security Lizu sent you in. Good luck." He flashed a thumbs up to River before letting him in and instructing him how to get to the room they were in.
"Council, there is someone here to see you." said the security outside the door as they cracked it open to speak. Some murmuring could be heard before the door was widened further revealing three council members each older than the one before. Their wizened faces all staring at River as he stood at the threshold thinking which way was best to present his case. He cleared his throat and began "Gentlemen of the Council of the city of Genisis. I come here to aid you on your research on the white wolf by both offering you my knowledge of the creature as well as the opportunity to obtain it for your own further studies..." he began pacing side to side as one does when presenting a case, making sure to see each member in the eyes and never having his back towards them " I ask for only one thing before I embark on this quest for you, that is the Renn to make it possible. You see I am a Trainer and thus naturally gifted to be able to bring you what you desire yet I lack the funds for a totem and spell to be able to capture this second creature so that I may deliver it to you. Will you grant me the funds to aid you?" the eyes in the room were pensive and then they turned cold. The eldest of the three stood up, pacing his hands onto the desk as his robe flowed open and hood fell, allowing the light to give him a sinister glow. "You come here to ask for aid in order to offer it. My dear child I am afraid that if you are the one in need then perhaps you are not strong enough to do what we ask. Go, train, grow and then see us again when you are with beast at hand." Rivers heart fell into his stomach fighting back tears so as to not show weakness. "Weak? You think I am weak?" his face lit up with a grin as he stared the men down a cockiness beginning to show in his voice " I am stronger than you think and I shall show it to you. I don't need to go and train to do this because I am already capable. Wait and see and I will have the White Wolf in the room soon and you shall then acknowledge my strength." with that River turned, allowing his mages Cape to billow as he walked out.
As he headed out Lizu caught a glimpse of him and was about to ask how it went, but when he saw the speed at which River walked he knew it must not have gone well and felt bad for the boy. Still desperately in need of funds River headed out to the bank and took a loan of 325 Renn, just enough to purchase a spell and totem. With the money in hand he quickly made his way to the Trainer Trainer, a character almost as lively as he. "Teima!! I need a favor of you!""Honestly River I keep telling you I cant give out magic for free. You need to pay up like any other client of mine, even if you do have more appreciation of the craft than others." her voice was in a joking manner though not far from the truth. Rivers face scrunched in annoyance like a child being caught before he's done the act " That's not at all what I was gonna say Tei. I have the Renn for the spell I just need you to teach it to me. I'm gonna increase my monster cap." a surprised gasp came from Teima as he spoke, not only to the idea that River had Renn but also at the fact that he wanted to increase his cap "What happened? I thought you only wanted Pots? Don't tell me...""Calm down Tei she's fine and still my number 1. No I need this for a quest to capture a White Wolf and deliver it to those stuck up Council members. Hmph they wouldn't know strength if it bit them in the keister." Tei laughed at Rivers annoyance towards the situation and taught him the spell needed. He quickly thanked her and went on his way to purchase a wooden totem before heading back to the inn for some much needed rest as the day wound down.
Once at the inn River made his way toward the room he and Xenos shared the night before and sat down onto the bed. He once again pulled up his friends list and this time selected Shiba for the recipient of a message
Shiba
>>Hey Shiba! You said if ever I needed a rogue to hit you up and I think I need just that! Later tomorrow I'm planning on hitting up area C in search for the White Wolf. I plan to capture the creature and turn it in for the reward the City Council is giving. Care for a cut? I'm sure your blade would help great against it, though we cant kill it, I need it alive. -River
Xenos and River decide to postpone mines till after festival Acquired Increase Monster Cap 1 Acquired Wooden totem Acquired 325 Renn debt Contacted Reylan to meet for Breakfast and Shiba to meet for Questing
"Don't you dare make me miss the festival. Xenos muttered mockingly, eyes still shit even as a plate of food knocked up against his head. "Don't worry you won't miss your silly festival. We need to go deal with this mine quest, prove ourselves as capable defenders or whatever, and convince the powers that be to give us a chunk of their production in exchange for being on call or something and boom, I make my crafting skill sky rocket after sleeping with whoever I need to for discounted or free forge fees." He stuck his tongue out at Chari as she passed.
"Well, that contract would be nice..." Rivers voice trailed off as he leaned back, placing his hands behind his head and pushing the chair to an incline with his foot. "And I do suppose that we should attempt to jump the gun on this one. After all if a bonehead like you could come up with such an idea in a drunken stupor who'd to say that no one else out of the thousands of players haven't already done so as well." He let his foot off the bar edge to allow himself to move forward again leaning closer to Xenos "and we have the advantage of being able to partner with a guild, one who beat the first dungeon within the first week none the less."
"Has anyone told you you're an ass told?" Xenos grumbled as he started shoveling his food down, speaking around the mouthful. "I have to go speak with this guy about it first though. Reild, Reyuid, Rey... Ugh I don't remember his name. I'll have to see if he is even okay with me joining. Getting one of his guild members drunk AND letting them drink me under the table probably wasn't telling best damn plan." Xenos took a second to breath and stretch. "We'll, guess I gotta go talk to..." He turned around and noticed the vacant spot Reylan sat at previously. "AAÀAAAAAAAAAAAH! When did he leave?! I don't have time to track him down!!!!"
River laughed at Xenos's expression as he noticed Reylans absence. "Reylan. That's his name, and you best remember it if you plan on making this plan of yours go through." he stood up and stretched out placing his hand on Xenos shoulder. "As for tracking him down, we friended each other last night so I can see him on my map. C'mon I'll lead the way." River opened up his map and began searching it for Reylans position.
"I think I found him. C'mon slowpoke follow me!" River sprang forward towards the exit the whole while waving Xenos to hurry along and follow him to Reylan.
"Regarding to the pepper... Of course chīlli!" Nenetl said, almost like if it was the clearly obvious choice speaking in such an old dialect Seorsa hardly recognized it."It's pungent taste is good for both the body and the soul. To heal and purify. It has a myriad of qualities. In some cultures, it's said that chīlli is a present from the heavens." Nenetl continued, with a smile to the elf boy speeding through her words barely allowing him to speak. Though this brought a smile to him as rarely did he meet someone so excited about such simplistic things.
"How much will it be? Ten for the coffee, and how much for the chīlli?" she asked, putting her hand on the small pouch and taking off a few dollar bills.
" That would be four dollars for the peppers. So your total will come to fourteen dollars for both items." seorsa scribbled them receipt down on his pad handing it to her.
"Pray child if it is not much burden, direct me to this merchant. I fear the market's paths still escape my memory." He held the note out for the elf to see, Nadia's Knick Knacks scribbled on the paper.
"Sure I'd be more than happy to help. Just follow this road for about 2 to 3 shops until you spot the alley way on the left, keep going down that alley and on the other side to your right shall be the shop." Seorsa beamed a smile at the gentleman as Nentl stared at a strange man whose presence had been lingering for a while.
"Once I've gathered your payments I'll be sure to head off and begin working on your orders." He awaited the payment from both parties and once acquired made his way towards his room, waving off the two new customers and thanking them for their business.
Once inside his room he began to set up for the orders. He grabbed two large pots and moved them to opposite sides of the room. Placing a sticky note on one labeling it "Dark Roast" and the other "Ancho-Chocolate Roast". After doing that he carefully placed rich soil in each taking care to ensure it was treated appropriately and speaking to it as if it was alive. He prepared 3 more pots though these were of medium size and were labeled "Chocolate" "Ancho Chili" and "Chili Pepper". Giving each the same treatment he did the first two.
" Alright, this is where the magic happens." he placed the appropriate seeds in each pot and then stood in the center of the room facing one pot, concentrating on it and then slowly lifting his arms. Seorsas veins glowed green on his left arm as did his eyes while he spoke to the seeds, gently coercing them to grow for him. His right arm however glowed yellow in the veins as a radiant light shone down from where his hand gestured, helping the plants grow and allowing them to become a beautiful harvest of coffee.
Sweat dripped from his brow as he finished the first plant and looked into the remaining four. "I can do this. I got this" he said as he let out a deep sigh to relax his muscles. He took this time to relax and pick the berries off the plant and placed them into a roasting tray. He created a light that was so radiant it became 240 degrees Celsius and shielded that area in a rocky dome with a vent on top so as to ensure the room didn't get to its temperature. To help ventilate Seorsa conjured a constant gust of wind having the airway come from the ventilated hole to the under crack of his bedroom door so as to allow the heat to escape through there. The way he commanded the elements and directed the world was although he was a conductor for nature itself. He spoke to them with such sincerity and understanding it was as if they wanted to bend to his will.
Once that roast was finished and he'd heard the crack of the bean he undid the light, earth, and channeled the air to uplift the newly darkened beans to both cool them off as well as place them into a burlap bag made for a pound of coffee. This was tied off and had a hand made tag, placed on the lace that held the bag shut, which read Dark Roast and placed that off to the side inside of his sellers pack where he could easily manage to grab it later on the day.
Moving on he followed the same procedures if light and plant magic becoming for the peppers and chocolate to grow for him and be at the appropriate ripened state for each. The only exception being the Chili pepper in which he made 1/3 of the pound ripe, another 1/3 to be ripe in a week and the final third pound to be ripe in two weeks so that they may last Nentl for a while and not go bad over time. He then picked and placed the chili peppers into separate 1/3 lb. bags each labeled for when they'd be ripe and set those off to the side as each stage of ripeness came. Once the Ancho and Chocolate were ready he placed them into the roasting pan and then turned to proceed with growing the coffee for Nentl.
The process to grow the beans and then place them alongside the cacao beans and acho Chile peppers was a long and arduous one. Not that any of the previous processes were not. For this process he followed a similar one to the previous roasting processes though taking care to not burn or char the new notes added to the coffee. Once made this new blend would have a Molé flavour to it giving it a unique flavor and kick.
Seorsa took quite a few breaks throughout the day, drinking water, eating, and resting to allow himself the strength to continue forward with each new plant and roast. By the time it all ended he was sore and promptly plopped himself onto his bed groaning and aching. "finally...its done...maybe now I can enjoy the rest of the day" Seorsa's head turned towards the window after he had insured all his magic had ceased including his phosphormancy and noticed it was pitch black out and night time. This process has taken him a full day to achieve.
Sorry sorry sorry a coworker got promoted which meant I now have more shifts until they find them so my schedules been out of whack due to it. Will have a post by 6 am tomorrow morning it's currently 1:22am
No sooner did River explain his plan than Kharne rushed forward with extraordinary speed. Closing a good amount if distance between him and the monstrosity that lay before them. His maw gaped open and spewed a veritable amount of acid directly at the creature. As if in anticipation the demon rose up it's axe blocking a surprising amount of acid, only allowing a few splotches to get past and eat away at his armor; this was however at a cost. With the axe now weakened and still held up to block, an archer cast a few arrows into it's hilt splitting the damned thing in half. Good, one less thing to worry about Though quick, Rivers eyes detected the latent magic that coupled those arrows and threw his eyes in the direction of their owner. "So nice of you to join us Aradeyr! he shouted towards here and then began speaking to himself "and not a moment too soon I might add."
More and more comrades joined into the fray each providing their own unique skill set to aid the team. Genthok valiantly (or foolishly he could not quite tell) went down closer to the demon and began to cast his form of magicks. Blood in hand amd strewn across his chest, his cast went forth and established the ground beneath allowing for the demon to stumble on its own weight and fall. A proud smirk ran across Rivers fave as he watched his comrades not just foolishly rush in but attempt to work in harmony to weaken the thing before going in. Noticing Artur beneath him River hopped off the tree and onto his back, grasping a tuft of furr "Onward valiant friend! Our help is nee-" he was cut off at the horrific sight that fell before him. Ardur cloaked his arms in flames as he launched a heated assault on the monster only to have a rock hurled towards him knocking him fifteen feet back. "Curses, I should have foreseen that. It matters not at the moment. Let's make haste Artur!"
Dashing forward he tugged on the bears furr to signal it to halt. "This should be plenty fine." dropping his sword of ice into the ground he pulled out his book and held his hand over it, eyes closed and concentrating. He heard the screams off the two fallen soldiers and the sounds of bones becoming dust beneath the giants feet. Finally River opened his eyes to Gil unsheathing a spear and watched as the magic did it's work. A sphere of water formed not even 1 foot away from the red hot section of the monsters armor and then slammed into him like a torrent. Cooling the spot as hot steam rose off the plate towards the giants face. The giants attention was fixated on Gil and the spear as he was noticibly about to charge once more. "Not on my account you unholy abomination" a large pool of water formed in front of the path the giant was charging through about 5 ft away from his current position. This pool of water immediately froze over becoming a thick, sheet of smooth slippery ice. Rivers eyes fixated on Gil and was prepared to shield him in a sphere of ice if the giant got too close for striking distance.
