The ringing in his ears continued as he sat there in the car quietly for the duration of the ride. Every once in a while he could hear some muffled voices, people saying something around him, or to him, but he was not sure what. All he could hear is ringing and the sound of drums; no not drums, his heart beating deep within him, pounding against his chest and thrumming in his ears. Max’s hands moved as if controlled by another, shaking away from his hair and sides as the inched closer and closer before him and above Veils legs. They appeared to be red, dripping with a deep ichor that slowly pooled at his tips before releasing and falling onto Veils legs. However as soon as the crimson beads would hit her they seemingly disappeared, leaving no trace behind, save for the pools of red that bathed Max’s hands, and only his hands. The blood of those he’d killed were now staining his skin as he watched in silent horror, knowing it wasn’t real, yet still transfixed by what he had done, letting his body lightly jostle in the seat as Sapphire drove them back to the Underground.

Once the car had halted, and the doors unlocked, Max made his way out of the Imapala and staggered a few feet forward. He saw the rude teen from before on her cell phone, he silhouette going in and out of focus as his eyes tried hard to concentrate on the task at hand. Leighton was there as well, and seeing her brought another sick sensation to his stomach. How would he be able to face the others? Jack? James? Leighton? Everyone who had seen or heard of his previous failures now being able to bear witness to his newest mess, one that ended in murder and fuel for more anti-mutant monsters to use against his kind. How could anyone else see this as a mere accident when lives were lost? Max had stopped in his tracks as his mind raced with thoughts of past events, eventually stumbling upon the memory of the Power Plant explosion that took out thousands of peoples power. How many lives may have been lost at the plant? How many more due to lack of power for medical supplies like breathing machines at home? He kept trying to tell himself that mistakes happen, even at the hands of professionals like the X-Men. He now teetered on a fence unsure of whether or not he could forgive himself for this mistake, yes they happened, but they seemed to happen more frequently to him.

Jinx felt the loose tile as he had kicked the glass, pulling his sleeves down to cover his hands in an attempt to not get his prints on the piece, kicking away any glass that may surround the tile so as to not cut himself. As he moved it out he spotted a small ornate wooden box with some initials carved into it. He tried to think on who this might belong to when he heard his lovely partners grating voice telling him to stop what he was doing and go get his hands cooled off. Gah, the name was at the tip of his tongue but all his mind kept thinking of was Kebastian Shaw, when everyone knew his name was Sebatastian Shaw. Stupid brain. ”Yeah yeah, do that in a second just...give me a moment here.” He slipped the box into his messenger bag, taking his time to place the tile back into the ground as if it was never disturbed and doing so before Emma or Ana came back to pester him. He kicked some more glass, this time to attempt to cover the area so it looked undisturbinlgly disturbed by the fray that took place.

Jinx began to make his way towards the restroom as he was instructed, nodding to Reqiuem about wanting to leave and get work done before more interruptions could appear. Though he had a sinking suspicion Shaw wouldn’t be the best person to ask, but an attack at homebase was most certainly a call for action. ”Alright, not too sure on the whole Shaw bit, but I’ll go and cool my hands off. Damned kids gonna have one hell of a bad luck streak coming to him the next time i see him.” As He made his way into the restroom he felt his pocket vibrate. Finally. Jinx turned on the tap, letting the water get cold as he fidgeted with his phone, seeing the pizza emoji that Casper had sent him. The actual fuck? He sent him back a reply text
I take it that means you want a slice of this wonderful deal. Good. It’s some premo shit and I was oh so hoping to work with you instead of giving it to someone less worthy. So, when can we meet bb?

He placed the phone back into his pocket and ran his hands under the cold water, cooling it down and leaning his head back as he felt the cold refreshing feeling pour over his burns and began to wonder why they hadn’t gone to medical themselves. Once that was dealt with he rejoined Reqiuem back in the room, patting his hands dry. ”Ready as I’ll ever be.”

Jackson came running towards him, fist cocked and ready to strike, figures an Ares kid would telegraph his moves. Demetri leaned back to avoid the hit, but in a last second switch, Jackson stopped his punch and instead went for a kick. He feigned a punch, the Ares kid actually used some form of tact. This should prove an interesting fight after all. Having been off balance from his dodge, the kick sent Demetri down onto the ground and skidding a bit. He watched as Jackson slowly backed up giving him the chance to stand up and fight once more. Demetri got up, pulling his pants up slightly and then patting his ass free of any debris that may have clung on from the fall. He got into an defensive position, looking for the best angle of attack against a kid of war and decided that the best defense is a good offense. Celestial Bronze seemed to be just as deadly to the children of gods as it was to the monsters that hunted them, good to know.

”Awhlright then, suppose I shouldn’t use that then now should i?” His british accent slipping a little as he became more focused on the task, and a bit more relaxed. His parents each had a posh accent that carried onto him from years of hearing and learning from it. A trait he’s tried to suppress at times as most kids at school either swooned over it or hated it. He backed up a few more paces, gaining some distance between the two. Demetri’s stance grew wide, similar to a sumo wrestler as one leg spread and then the other. He began to rush towards Jackson, his form taking longer to shape until finally he shifted into a rhinoceros. It’s thick hide armor should be a good defense against Jacksons blows, while its charge and horn can do some damage. The rush continued as it evolved into a full on charge, swinging his head to the side of Jackson and hitting him with enough force to knock him down on the ground. The black beast skidded to a halt as dust and dirt was kicked up into the air, nostrils flaring as it stared at Jackson, legs digging into the ground ready for its next charge.

Max used the cane as leverage while he slowly allowed himself to sit on the floor of the building. He laid the cane before him and just sat and listened to the others and their opinions on the matter of what they should do next. Jame had decided that it was best the press forward as quickly as possible, and more hopefully as soon as now. His heart sank a little as he wondered if James was callously ignoring Max’s exhaustion or if he just hadn’t heard him, he was quite the thinker usually. Max leaned back, his head now resting against the cool surface of the wall pressing up against his blonde hair. He closed his eyes, listening to the voices around him and hearing Hawkeye completely dismiss James idea. On one hand Max was glad to gain some rest, on the other hand he knew James plan was actually quite smart. Clearly the healer had gained more leadership and strategy skills since they first met, and this worlds S.H.E.I.L.D. training must’ve helped along with that as well. Perhaps that was smarter, to mix the two realities and use as much knowledge as possible to help influence the tide of this battle.

A lot had transpired in the course of two days, and Max had to get back into the habit of using his powers more frequently than just his usual fashion shows and trips around the world. Teleporting one person was one thing, he could do that forever, but to have done this scale so quickly after having his ass handed to him? That was a bit of a larger task. But with Jame’s healing, the rest he was now getting, and the food to come, Max knew he would be in fitter shape to do more the next day. One last trick, a little recon to help the mission to come. Max looked down, cupping his hands over his mouth and whispering into them as if telling a secret. He focused on Casper, having trouble finding him at first with all the clutter in his mind, but soon finding purchase and sending off a message to him. Hey Casper it’s Max. I don’t know if you remember me...and I really hope you do, but I have James here with me and I wanted to know if you can remember either of us. We want to find you, we need to find you. You can reply to this message

Salem walked up towards the counter and noticed Max and Aaron speaking. He figured now was as good as anytime to speak to the receptionist while they were all busy. "Salem Spellman, again, sorry. I realised as we were heading to my dorm that I have no way to get in. Would you by any chance happen to have a key to my dorm so that I could enter it?" It was around that moment that the poor receptionist was barraged by another request, this time from Max who appeared to be in quite the hurry. Then again, judging by how he was holding the dog in the same manner as if it were luggage, he could only assume that Max was trying to rid himself of the cute little thing as fast as humanly possible. He didnt so much as eavesdrop so much as just heard what Max was asking of the receptionist before them. Noting that he also got a partner change although he was informed of the who but not the where.

"Oh it seems we're on the same boat here. Although I wasnt even informed by either of my partners, new or old, that there was an exchange. So when I found out where I was at now I nearly, well no I did, forget to request a new key for me to actually get in. So who's the new partner of yours? I happened to get...Victor Astorio." Salem gritted the vampires name between his teeth, knowing full well that his time at this school has taken a full turn and that unpredictability would be his new companion. He crossed his arms and leaned against the desk as he spoke to Max, wincing a bit when his knuckles pressed against his biceps and quickly changing poses to accommodate the new injuries.

River

River may have been a busy body outside if this game, but he could still read his friends like one of his zoology books. Willows words flowed out smoothly and with what, to some outsiders, might seem like some edge. He could however see them for what they were, a sheathed blade just waiting to be released so as to remove the nearest head in sight. Luckily for both Willow and other players, this game offered many ways to decapitate without penalty in the form of monsters. Though River wasn't too fond of the idea of killing the more creature-esque critters, a goblin or two never seemed to hurt anyone. Pepper had plopped of his head as he sat there in thought, unaware as she crept closer and closer to Auras plate, sniffing the air around it and waiting for a chance to swipe some fruit. Alas, that opportunity never presented itself as Aura had finished her plate and went off to follow Willow. Pepper left to sniff at the plate and lick some of the left over honey before it was picked up by the waitress. "Dont worry Pepper, we'll find some nice and exotic fruits out there while we're questing. Oh and welcome to the group Aur...oh she left...uh I'm gonna go catch up to them real fast."

River lightly jogged out after the paladin, Pepper flying close behind as Ubi drifted behind the pair silently. "Aura! Hey Aura! Sorry I was a bit lost in thought in there and realized I never greeted you or welcomed you to our little group." There was a slight tiredness to his voice as he spoke, stretching lightly before a small yawn escaped him. "Oh man, I'm not used to being up so early yet. Though I do seem to be getting better sleep than usual. I dont have a house full of animals to wake me up in the middle of the night or a tight schedule to keep for feeding and care. I'm River by the way, dont really give out my real name and if you dont mind I probably wont use yours. No offense. So...what brings you to our merry little band of misfits?"

As soon as Sapphire arrived everything seemed to move fast. Max quickly placed the computer in the back trunk of the car while the others got in and placed the now two unconscious mutants into their seats. Luna sat in the back with Veil laying across their laps while Havoc was up front buckled in for a ride. Max watched as Glimpse tore off some of her clothing in an attempt to wrap her wounds, and potentially apply pressure to is at well. Good. The sirens grew louder and the police were now visibly on their tail. Panic began to fill Max as he thought of something to help slow them down. He turned to face the back window and stretched out his hand a little. ”I’m going to try and slow them down, maybe with some thumbtacks or nails in the road to give them flats.” He attempted to create these small makeshift caltrops about ten feet behind their vehicle, but in the panic accidentally created a ten foot nail behind them, skewering the car and those inside it like a barbecue treat.

Anything that anyone may have said to him at this point was lost. His eye’s dialated as he stared onto the horrific scene he just created. Flashes of what could’ve been their lives now skipping before him and the only sound he could hear was a faint ringing in his ears that grew louder and louder as he continued to watch in horror. He just killed someone, someone with a family, someone who was only doing their job. They didn’t deserve this, he didn’t mean to, he only wanted to help... So many thoughts rushed through his mind at this time, his lower lip quivering as his hands began to shake violently, slowly reaching up for his own face and gripping his hair in panic. His stomach churned and burned as he felt his meal coming up, burning his throat until finally he attempted to look away from it all and everyone, and spewed what little food he had in him on Veils legs. His hands continued to shake and his words couldn’t be formed to apologize to her, just stuttering nonsense as he thought on what he just did.

The phone had gone to voice mail and Jinx had finally decided that there were only a few explanations. Either the druggie was busy, currently high, or finally overdosed on his stache. Sure he may have also misplaced his phone, but regardless of the reason, Jinx was beginning to get extremely annoyed. He slid his phone back into his jeans as he meandered around the room as he took in all the chaos. Jinx kicked the filing cabinet in frustration, one of the drawers jiggling and then he began to recall something. ”Wait wait wait wait wait.” He started snapping his fingers as he was thinking, the smoke practically coming out of his ears. Je began to speak to no one in particular. ”You, you were there, and I was over there, with Britain. Emma was there and so was the little girl. That Elsa wanna be was behind Emma which makes sense, knock out the leader to take out a group. However, they had two of their teammates over here by the cabinets. Why?”

Jinx began to walk around the room cabinets to where Max was previously hiding, looking for anything that may have fallen or a clue to what they wanted. He started tracing the blonde mutants steps as he was the first to not outright fight them untill he was blown. ”He ran this way, but fell short and then we all broke into a fight. Everyone seemed to be locked in combat but him, he came back and grabbed our computer, the other two said something about grabbing file or something...Soo...they were after information? But, if that’s all they wanted why not just send Little Britain alone? I’m sure she could’ve just asked unless its something they know we wouldn’t freely give. Argh this is all too complex. Requiem will need to think of something that could link this all together. What could these pipsqueaks actually want to learn? What’s worth learning?” Anastasia was gone for the moment and Jinx began to chew another piece of gum. Walking over towards the glass, kicking it absentmindedly as he tried to figure out what the mutants wanted, and who they were.

River made his way into the Quicksand, ordering three tankards of Mulled Tea and ensuring the tab was posted to Lyveva, not wanting to spent a single Gil he had just earned. He took notice of a few of the patrons that were currently in the facility, seeing a strange Miq’ote wearing an eyepatch over one eye, having raven dark hair with a fair complexion. Bit of an odd looking character, but then again River’s appearance wasn’t exactly normal. He watched as he took his drink, standing and moving away from the table, leaving a spot open for him to sit. Perfect. Many odd conversations began to take place amongst the characters there, all of which were not to his liking and he started to see why the Miq had left his seat so promptly.

He sat there, frowning and waiting his order as he poked the wooden tables, boredom filling him while the urge to count his new bounty slowly welled up inside of him. Finally, the fabled Lyveva from the notice made herself present. Standing atop a table, which quite frankly reminded him of home, and allowing him to have a better view as opposed to him having to stand on one to see. She was a rather plain looking Hyur with milicorn hair, and not much confidence it seemed. Her speech drawled on and he quickly found out that it was not he who needed help so much as the guild was in desperate need. His drinks made their way to him and River took a careful sip while continuing to listen but knowing full well what he thought his answer would be. Yes, Cartaneu took many lives, yes it changed the world for all, but to champion such a cause one must have conviction and the stones to show they can lead. The Hyur had something, but he wasn’t quite sure what yet.

As River downed his final tankard he stood up, full ready to walk away, but then the strange Miq’ote spoke up. The words stirring within him, giving River a deep sense of longing and reminding him of where he comes from, why he was here, and the creed that Limsa Lominsa follows. Sure this corn-headed Hyur wasn’t a leader now but who could blame her? To lose so many and to still strive on, that was something of a fire he had to admit. He stood atop the table himself and held his empty tankard up real high (or as high as a lalafell on a table can hold up one) yelling out after the man before. “Till sea swallows all! Aye, I suppose I’ll be joining your motley crew of a guild. It’ll be rough sailing for a bit but I’m sure we can make our way out of stormy waters and into clear seas soon enough!”

Max’s lips twisted into a disappointed frown at the mention of Captain America and Black Widow. ”From what I could gather about The Cap is that he’s an old war veteran, not much else to gleam from it; as for Black Widow, she didn’t show up at all, a dark spot on the radar if you will. I don’t know these people intimately nor what they are in this world so my powers can only grasp the concepts of them from both realities. That’s probably why I was able to find people like Cyclops and Frost, they’ve held the title thus are considered it via my powers. The Theroit brothers may have functioned in the same sense, if they are the children of the founder of the group then they may be considered it by blood. It’s not an exact science unfortunately. In any matter, if we do want to go about splitting up to cover more ground then I have a few suggestions. One, we all need new outfits. Most of yours are tattered, old, or just gross, I can conjure you all up some if you desire just let me know. Two, I request that James and I go on the New Orleans team. We both know the brothers there and can hopefully jog their memories if need be. Now I don’t know who this Swamp Rat person is but I can at the very least attest to someone by the name of Gambit and Rogue being there. Third, and certainly not least...I need rest guys. Scarlet Witch kicked my ass from here to Asgard and broke my bones. Yeah, James healed me and I’m super greatfull dude but using this much energy can get exhausting and doing such a massive teleportation...well its taxing and I just...I need some rest.”

Max was now leaning up against a wall, clearly using it as a support. He gauged the room and listened in to a few requests as people took him up on his offer for new outfits, many of which weren’t just simple costume changes. He closed his eyes for a brief respite, catching his breath and attempting to work past the exhaustion that plagued his body. Once all were done asking for their changes, he opened up his eyes, stood off the wall and slowly raised his arms. Swirls of energy would surround each member that had agreed and their outfits would change to fit their criteria, all they need do is let him know. The last to change was Max, brandishing a new suit that he thought would fit right in with the New Orleans fashion and feel, while still maintaining his sense of self, a cane was created along with it as part of his look, brandishing a pink jewel atop it that resembled a chaos emerald. ”I hope you’re all satisified with the results. It’s been quite some time since i’ve been allowed to make outfits en masse...though its usually just for fashion.” Full glad was Max that they were going to ignore Frost and Cyclops, not wanting to risk another fight with her, nor wanting to be around the destructive power of another Summers, especially if he was as much of a dick as his brother Havock.

River

River took a seat at the table, and noticed the woman who was introduced to them as Aura. A paladin who wanted to enter their ranks, which truth be told was very needed. River listened to Willow as she explained that they needed to nominate a new leader, a sore subject that he was hoping to ignore for a while longer, after all denial is a powerful thing. She was, as usual, right; the guild needed a new leader and with the Blades and other guilds still pushing for these meeting for the coalition, it was important to have someone in a position of power to be able to attend and speak for the betterment of the group. He gave Prome a side glance, glaring at him for a moment before thinking that perhaps he had finally broken down, his mind creating pockets of safety for him to be able to function normally by excluding ill memories that may endanger that semblance of normality.

”It’s like Willow said, our previous guild leader is indisposed of at the moment, so just vote for a new leader in their absense so that we can continue to attend these crucial meetings that are held by all the leaders.” His voice was equal parts sympathetic and annoyed, wondering why he even needed to question something that was being put out for them to do. He opened up his menu and dragged Willow’s name into the slot, knowing she would most likely be fit for the job over the others. ”Done and done. I agree that we should hit up those quests as soon as we can, Holly also got a quest of her own while we are out in the wild doing the other two, it’s to help her unlock her subclass quest. As for the images...we’ll need to get that skill higher and soon if we want to beat out other players at this possible riddle. I’d hate to be the first to find it but the last to solve it.”

Salem dreaded the walk back to the administrative building. Realizing he was now those people who had to visit a place twice just to get their work done because he hadn’t managed to think on such a simplistic thing like needing a key to go into his dorm. A long drawn out mental sigh filled his mind as he could just imagine the receptionist’s face as they entered once more, wondering what more these kids could possibly need in such a short span of time. Or perhaps they knew exactly what was needed and would secretly laugh at the mages like some sort of bumbling child who can scarcely learn to walk without a guiding hand. More and more apauling thoughts began to invade his mind with every step they took towards the place, Salem not even realizing the quiet that came from Lilie nor her constant stumblings onto him or Aaron as they made their trek there.

Something did catch his attention however, snapping him out of his own headspace long enough for all the thoughts to fade away. Lilie commented on how cute the dog was tha Max was holding and all he could think, and accidentally speak outloud in a low voice, was ”I didn’t realize he had such a cute ass.” Salems cheeks blushed and had it not been for his tan complexion it would be clearly visible to all. His aromatic pheromones began to exude once more, making him blush harder as he attempting to clear his throat and hope that no one heard his comment just then. ”Uh, yeah, I didn’t even think he’d like dogs, or animals, or people, to be honest.” Saved it. Salem tried to calm himself down by repeating the breathing excersise that he did in class for control, lowering his heart rate and attempting to real in his magic before Max had another thing to snap about or say.
