Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

Going to be making a second master probably. ^^; Saber's got a planned out pairing already as well.
@BurningDaisies: Okay um...

Going to kind of try and straighten things out a bit here:

Fairies can cure some illnesses via contract, but physical problems are a lot... less easy, even considering the whole transformation thing that happened to circumvent the "only girls!" rule. Healing also only works insofar as restoring the body to the healthy state the fairy knows about.

I didn't really mean to discount the idea of magical girls with disabilities(in fact I like the idea of a magical girl in a wheelchair whose transformation works around this or something a lot), but certain disabilities are really hard to play in the context of the RP. It's really hard to do deafness or muteness in an RP effectively, and I'm not exactly opposed to the idea but I don't want someone to put a lot of work into an idea for it not to work out.

The main issue is communication, since not everyone knows sign language and communicating in a fight is difficult to pull off if you can't do so vocally.

That being said if you can think of a way to get around this(say, one of her abilities as a magical girl features messages made of light or something), I think it might work out better.
"Haaah, what a drag..."

Draping her spear over her shoulders, and her hands over her spear, Shadowrender Mitsuko let out a long sigh of irritation.

"It's not just one problem, it's many," she said, looking annoyed at even having to explain. "Since last night the Negari haven't left me alone. It's a pain in the ass."

That was a bit more of an explanation. Mitsuko was an accomplished magical girl, frequently seen munching on snacks after taking down various dangerous Negari. But if it had been a large number of Negari that she'd been fighting since the previous night, it was possible that the experience had worn her out a considerable amount. However, at the moment, it seemed there were no more Negari in the vicinity. Indeed, aside from the girls, the alleyway was entirely empty of anything else. That being said, it couldn't be confirmed that she hadn't fought here, as well, given that Negari bodies dissolved once they were killed.

"It starts out fun, but it just gets exhausting, y'know?" she complained, leaning back as she did. "I think that I killed the last of them. I think."

@NightinGem@Mercurial
@NightinGem: I'll get a post up with Mitsuko later today or tomorrow at the latest. ^^; Sorry about the delay.
@Feyblue: Fairies have minor healing abilities for anyone by default, but it's probably stronger with their partner.
Fairy healing can go pretty far, but it can't do everything and it's also variable from fairy to fairy and magical girl to magical girl.

As an example, one girl was accidentally injured by a fellow magical girl and it left her in a wheelchair.

However, another gets impaled and eventually is fully healed.
Oh right!

@TheFake: Accepted.
@NightinGem: The very first magical girl I made for this setting was a case of a boy becoming a girl. ^^; Albeit for different reasons.

My real concern here beyond being worried about your participation(deaf characters are VERY hard to write well) is also that fairy contracts can do some... pretty drastic things to heal or alter the host, though those are fairly extreme circumstances.

In setting one permanently changed a teenaged boy into a teenaged girl at one point to get around the "magical girls can only be girls" thing.
  • Name: Tylane Carth
  • Race: Breton
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Dark brown hair, dark blue eyes, pale skintone, armor mostly silver, hammer is dark silver and gold. She's a little short, but not excessively so.
  • Personality: Tylane is, above all, one who is dedicated to the idea of a paladin. Virtuous, dedicated to hunting the evil and defending the innocent, standing as a heroic figure who cleanses the wicked and is a shield to the weak. These ideals motivate her through thick and thin, and prompt her to do as best as she possibly can no matter the situation. In this regard, Tylane is a generally nice and caring individual who carries a great deal of care in her heart for the plights of others, but a merciless approach to those who willfully commit evil acts. That being said, it can't be ignored that Tylane has something of a temper, both in reaction to foolish behavior(which can be responded to with serious-minded admonishing) and when encountered with what she feels are seriously evil or cruel action. Indeed, if something is bad enough, she is prone to flying into a rage-fueled determination to punish the perpetrator. That being said, the safety of the innocent always takes priority in her mind.
  • Birthsign: The Warrior
  • Skills:
      Two-Handed Weapons, Heavy Armor, Restoration
  • Equipment: Tylane has a set of fine clothing to wear outside of battle, a set of plate, and an enchanted two-handed warhammer imbued with cleansing flames that burn those who survive its initial impact.
  • Brief History: Tylane was raised in a deeply religious household, one that paid special attention to Stendarr. Her family brought her up on ideals of heroism, and of course of honor and knighthood. A minor noble, she eventually became a junior knight of the Order of the Rose, and continued her combat training from there. She was also trained in Restoration, in order to heal the injured as well as harm done to herself. An enchanted warhammer belonging to her family became her weapon, and with it, a suit of armor came as well.
    Recently, she has heard word of the undead menace threatening Sentinal, and traveled without hesitation in order to assist in destroying it.

Sketch is... not my best work but I think it gets the idea across. ^^; Might replace it with a better image later on but wanted to actually get this bio up finally.
