Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

  • Name: Koyuri
  • Age: Likely around 14. She's 4'9/144 cm and small, she could not be. Or she could be. It's hard to tell. She doesn't appear to be a child under 13, however, though she does look young. If pressed, she's likely to say she doesn't remember.
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance: "Oh, hello!"
  • Personality: Koyuri is friendly to a fault, ever curious and inquisitive about her surroundings. Unfortunately, this is combined with an extreme naivete and trusting nature. Without someone to help guide her along, she is likely to believe almost anything told to her within reason. She would believe, perhaps, that there is a law placing a tax on all sweets. She would not believe that shoes are actually evil monsters, or something entirely nonsensical. At least without sufficient evidence. Koyuri possesses a deep adoration for food of all kinds, provided it's good, and will eat absolutely any good food offered to her, often completely ignoring pricing until it's too late. She is a terrible liar and as a result cannot even begin to keep secrets. She is generally terrible at hiding anything. However, she enjoys meeting new people and generally has a sunny disposition. At the same time, Koyuri is quite easily embarrassed or flustered. An outside impression of her may be that she looks like she could not possibly survive in the real world, and that's before considering that she is often absolutely clueless about the way the world works in general. However, beneath all of this is a terrifyingly efficient markswoman who unhesitatingly draws her weapon whenever she believes it is necessary, particularly to defend others. Speaking of which, she is quite attached to her enormous rifle and is very hesitant to part with it.
  • Skills: Koyuri is utterly without any skills that would seem useful for day-to-day life. Again, it's easy to get the impression she would be incapable of surviving on her own. Don't try to make her cook, that's for sure. However, she is an inhuman marksman capable of hitting a rapidly moving target without bracing herself while standing. While she can easily lift her weapon, Koyuri is otherwise rather useless physically. However, she can apply her incredible marksmanship to other weaponry.
  • Abilities: Koyuri has enormous mana reserves in order to fuel her wide variety of spells that, in combination with her magitech rifle, make her an absolutely deadly ranged foe. In terms of her spells, she possesses numerous anti-infantry and anti-vehicle magical spells. Among these are spells to make bullets pierce more solid targets, spells to coat a bullet with expanding barriers, and spells to convert her bullets into destructive waves of mana.
  • Equipment: Koyuri's only notable equipment is an enormous case that she can lift seemingly without effort. On it is a magic circle, identical to one marked upon her back and on her favorite dress. This acts as a form of identification, making it impossible to open the case if you do not have the magic symbol on you in some fashion. Within this case is an enormous rifle, a full 182 centimeters long, measuring considerably longer then Koyuri herself is tall. The prototype for a cancelled model of sniper rifles, the Styx III is equipped with a scope and fires huge 15 centimeter bullets. However, its true power is in its magical capabilities. Feeding off of the users' mana reservoirs(in such enormous amounts it was deem impractical unless the user had truly ridiculous mana reserves, which Koyuri does indeed possess), it can be used to cast devastating offensive ranged spells. Even without the magical function, the firepower of this rather absurd weapon can blow soft targets apart and tear through non-reinforced metal. Its weight also makes it impractical, but due to Koyuri's impressive mana reserves it can be lightened easily for use. The recoil is such that on a smooth surface, standing, and without bracing herself, Koyuri is sent sliding backwards across the ground for a meter or so.
  • Brief History: Koyuri isn't forthcoming with her past, in spite of her very trusting nature. She is very adamant about travelling and collecting... something, but what it is she isn't willing to talk about unless the ones asking have agreed to work for her.

Twenty years ago, Lord Atoran Yeln used his wealth and cult of personality to convert his home city, based on the floating island nation of Kyn, into a fortress from which he could terrorize countries into submitting via the extensive weaponry held within. It worked, and the Empire slowly expanded. People within its bounds were held to a strict code introduced by Yeln, but provided they did so enjoyed a relatively high standard of living... for a time.

During its existence, the Yeln Empire offered what it claimed to be stability via a strict code introduced by Emperor Atoran Yeln himself. However, this code was in fact created to introduce a situation in which any behavior Emperor Yeln did not approve of was punished harshly. In addition, Yeln did not see the inhabitants of Crinitia as people, and upon conquering the country proceeded along a policy of treating them as slave labor and conscripts.

Those who dissented against Yeln's tyranny were executed if they were discovered, and those who attempted to aid Crinitians were tortured before facing execution. Still, there were some who managed to successfully defect from the Yeln Empire, which was one of many causes for the impending war.

In the final assault on Kyn Fortress, Emperor Atoran Yeln was killed when his body was cut to pieces by Dame Angelese Tirese and her Arch-Lancer squad. Kyn Fortress was destroyed as it crashed into the sea.

That was a year and a half ago.

Now, Crinitria has struggled to rebuild, the beastkin that call it home often viewed as remnants of the Yeln Empire. The people of Laake, a country instrumental in Yeln's downfall, is now filled with saboteurs who no longer have a purpose. The War against the Yeln Empire took its tool, even though Yeln fell.

And now, a strange girl with an enormous rifle is seeking to travel across the lands, seeking something mysterious...

So this is going to be an RP with a maximum of ten players(counting myself). This will be a group of four accompanying said strange girl, and a group of five acting as player antagonists.

The players accompanying the "strange girl" will be people she has hired(near the beginning of the RP) to escort her. Anyone how would accept such a job is acceptable.

The antagonists will be agents of a new government agency of the relatively distant country of Tinnec, founded to help rebuild after the war and hunt remnants of the Yeln Empire. They might not be all the seem, however...

Laake: A country on the border of the former Yeln empire, Laake is known for its fusion of various architecture styles, and its production of a variety of different foods. Fiercely independent, Laake refused to submit to Atoran Yeln's conquest-based desires. This rejection of the Yeln Empire is indeed one of many catalysts that lead to the war that destroyed it.

Laake boasts a strong military history in spite of its small size, possessing an elite special forces unit created with the purpose of infiltration and sabotage. Individuals are trained for a long period before deployment, allowing them to exhibit a high degree of skill in stealth, combat, and the elimination of targets.

Laake is ruled by a constitutional monarchy, boasting a popular ruler.

Crinitia: Crinitia is a small country, and considered the homeland of the Crinitians - or animalpeople. For several centuries, it was an independent nation noted for exporting rare fruits, and being a tough place to live for humans, due to colder climates and relatively few settlements. While not a poor country, many native Crinitians choose to leave the country for less harsh living conditions - those that remain are typically suited for hunting and fighting.

However, this land was unfortunate enough to be one of the Empire's first territories to envelope. Faced with its' far superior technology and overwhelming presence, the Crinitians were forced to choose between annihilation and subjugation. While the Empire was active, the natives were treated as slave labour or conscripted soldiers; gender and age were of little importance to the Empire, who considered the Crinitians as little more than animals.

Because of the Yeln Empire's policies regarding their people, Crinitians had become a common-enough sight in their ranks, that many people today still see them as remnants of the fallen Empire, and as such, are often treated with distrust, or even outright hostility. Many people, even citizens amongst the former empire, were unaware of how cruelly treated the Crinitians were. Many believed them to be willing participants, when in truth, they were little more than cannon fodder for the empire, meant to soak up the bullets and blades of the enemy for the real forces.

Though the Empire has fallen, the country is still rocked with poverty and crime, no longer a peaceful place to live.

Tinnec: A more distant country, Tinnec was still instrumental in the defeat of the Yeln Empire, deploying its elite Lancer teams to ultimately slay Emperor Yeln himself. A militaristic monarchy, nevertheless it seems rather eager to spring to the aid of other countries and assist in rebuilding after the long war against the Yeln Empire.

Magic and Magitech Employed in some weapons and all airships, technology employing magic is not everpresent, but definitely not unheard of either. Most often it is used in air-based vehicles and some weapons. Magic is also possible to use on its own, providing a variety of effects. Technological advancements are wide and varied, such as the technology that allows floating islands to be converted into vehicles(the largest of which being the capital of the Yeln Empire) and even genetic engineering and the creation of extremely human-like robots.

That's three people already! One more and I'll get the OOC up.

Lyrie Cossette

"Ah!"

Someone had approached her! ... And it was someone... kind of scary. Lyrie clutched her staff tightly to herself as she opened her mouth and then faltered for several moments, unable to get any words out. How embarrassing, she had shown up to serve as a healer for the Iron Roses and now she couldn't say anything to one of them. But he was really pretty gruff and intimidating-looking! The small blonde girl fidgeted, shuffling her feet under her as her gaze directed itself firmly downwards at the ground.

"I-I'm here to serve as a healer, u-um, Fanilly-I mean Captain Fanilly! I-I mean Captain Danbalion! Ah..." This wasn't going well at all... nervously, Lyrie kept shifting from one foot to the other, looking everywhere but the knight who had greeted her. He was going to get mad at her or something, wasn't he... even if Fanilly was her cousin, she was still the Captain of the Iron Rose Knights. That meant that she definitely shouldn't refer to her as anything less.

Especially given that Fanilly must have been very busy, after all...
Konpaku Youmu

This scenario was far too strange. Those outside world vehicles, and... some sort of commotion going on at the other side of the bridge? It didn't take long for the small silver-haired girl to conclude this was some kind of incident. Therefore, the only logical course of action was to see just what was occurring. With this in mind, Youmu started across the bridge. Her phantom half drifted along behind her, and sure enough it did indeed become clear there was something occurring on the other side of the bridge. There was a great deal of men, fully human as far as she could discern, some of them carrying something she didn't quite recognized. It seemed familiar, in some respects, but she couldn't place her finger on just what those things they were carrying were.

One of them pointed at her, and said something she couldn't make out to the others.

Youmu raised her hand and waved.

"Hello!" she called, "Do you know what's-"

There was a sound almost like a crack of thunder, and something tore towards her. Instinct took over in an instant and she ducked to the side, expression hardening as she smoothly drew Roukanken and lashed out, the gleaming blade flashing in the daylight as it cut the projectile cleanly in two, dampening the shot's momentum and sending both pieces off-course. Quickly, this lead the silver-haired girl to a number of conclusions.

The first was that it wasn't danmaku. The second was that these were enemies. The third was that, since they were ordinary people from the outside world, Youmu was not going to use any lethal methods unless absolutely necessary.

As the men seemed to express surprise at what she had done, the small girl drew Hakurouken as well.

Putting on a burst of speed, Youmu immediately darted into the midst of the men, directly in front of the man who had fired his weapon at her. He only had a split second to gasp in shock and take a step back before she drove Roukanken's hilt directly into his chest, his eyes bulging as he let out a strangled yell. The impact set him back about two meters before he hit the ground and rolled, passed out from the blow.

The other men were, needless to say, somewhat shocked. Youmu reminded herself that the outside world very likely wasn't used to such displays as she raised both her katana.

The first one to raise his weapon again after her arrival had it promptly sliced in half.

Saber - Arturia Pendragon

To be honest, this wasn't anything Saber could have expected. A resplendent golden theater, the Aestus Domus Aurea that the notoriously vain Nero constructed in life was mainifested as-

"A reality marble?" she asked. She had seen one previously, the King of Conquerers' internal world supported by his army. But this was different. Perhaps supported entirely by the vanity of the one who had created it? Regardless of what the circumstances were, there were far more important things to focus on. Arturia quickly swallowed her surprise at the sudden manifestation of a reality marble. She had to be prepared at a moment's notice, even as lasers rained down and pelted the whale-beast, courtesy of Ozymandias. Indeed, the beams hit home, striking the massive beast and forcing it to thrash about in pain and shock.

It seemed as if there was nothing such a creature could do, stranded in the middle of dry land. At least until it suddenly manifested the storm directly above their heads. Immediately a torrent of rain poured down upon Nero's theater, and streams of water arced through the air, seeming to lash towards anyone else in the arena. This couldn't be allowed!

Crouching low as another arc of water tore towards her, Arturia sprang into the air, her dress trailing behind her. Her armored boots hit water and she sprinted across the arc before leaping again, landing on another arc of water and sprinting up running along the stream of liquid. Her goal was to close in on the whale creature, drive her blade through its flesh, and fire a blast of prana directly into its body. It was too large for simple cuts to quickly make a difference, but an attack striking directly inside of its body...!

The blonde girl-knight had swiftly made her way into the air and above the creature, using the very streams of water the beast had been attacking with in order to get herself into position. Light traveled up Excalibur's blade as it came into view, Invisible Air releasing with a rush of wind as she hurtled downwards towards the monstrous whale-creature...!

Saber - Arturia Pendragon

Her attack had hit its mark! The enormous creature beneath the water had been struck, the beam piercing through its flesh. Unfortunately, Saber had been unable to strike it in a vital area, and it surged beneath the waters deeper... by this point, the only way that the blonde knight could trace it was the trail of crimson it was leaving behind it. And it seemed that it was heading directly for the ship. Quite simply, this wasn't an acceptable outcome, and inwardly the girl cursed the fact that she hadn't foreseen this outcome. Placing the others in immediate danger... immediately, she broke into a sprint, back the way she came. She had to do her best to outpace the beast under the waves, leaping off the crest of one particularly large arc of water before driving onward, ducking low to make herself more aerodynamic against the winds.

She'd reach the boat first...!

And indeed, the shape of the ship became visible through the pouring rain and crashing waves. Taking a deep breath, Arturia opened her mouth, and...

"There is a creature beneath the water, approaching the boat!" cried Saber.
