The evening was rather pleasant. Melina enjoyed talking to Zander and the first year, about her school and educating them on the lore that her school was famous for. Which included the story of Melusina and Count Sigefroi. It seemed to interest a few others in the common room. Even if they were silent; they had enjoyed the story.
Count Sigefroi used to live in Körich, and one day he took a ride on his horse and got lost. He found himself on the place on which the city of Luxembourg stands nowadays, on the ruins of an ancient castellum. He looked over the lush green valley, when he suddenly heard the most beautiful voice sing a song. He listened closely and let his eyes follow the music; he then spotted a young maiden sitting amongst the ruins next to the river Alzette. It was Melusina. Upon seeing the knight, she pulled her green veil over her head and disappeared with the last sunrays.
Sigefroi grew tired and fell asleep under a tree. The next morning, he followed the river and found his way back home - but he could never foret the maiden. He often returned to the valley, and soon Melusina began to like his company. They fell in love, and he asked her hand in marriage. She agreed, but she had two conditions: firstly, she asked not to be moved away from her living place, and secondly, she made him promise to leave her alone on Saturdays and never to ask or look what she was doing on that day. He promised, but he didn´t have enough money to build a new home for Melusina and himself, even after trading some of his own possessions with other Lords and wealthy members of the clergy.
So he made a deal with the Devil, who promised to help in exchange for Sigefroi´s soul in thirty years´ time. Over night, a beautiful castle rose above the Alzette valley, and Sigefroi and Melusina could move in. They lived happily and had seven children.
Now years after their wedding, Melusina was still holding up the tradition of locking herself in her room on Saturdays. Sigefroi had grown curious with the years passing, and so one Saturday he decided it was finally time to discover what his wife was hiding from him. He went to her room and was greeted by the sound of large quantities of water gurgling and splashing. He peaked through the keyhole and saw Melusina, sitting in the tub, combing her hair with a golden comb or brush, a fish tail instead of her legs. He screamed in surprise and disgust, and Melusina disappeared, forever taken from him, and her soul damned to never find peace.
It is said that the castle´s wet nurse sometimes spotted a ghost-like female figure entering the childrens´ bedroom to comfort the youngest one when it was crying.
There are multiple other stories telling about how to free Melusina´s soul, but no one succeeded so far. It is said that she appears every seven years as a mortal woman on the very same spot she disappeared. She can also be heard lamenting on this spot whenever the city is in danger. She turned into the city´s mythological keeper.
Melina nodded with a smile. "Yes, she's quite different than some muggles." It was quite rare, to find a Muggle who would be so accepting like her mother was. After they said their goodnights. Melina met her new roommates, the girls were around her age and they struck up a brief conversation before going to sleep that night. The next day, her first day of Lessons began.
Her first lesson had been Care of Magical Creatures. There she had met quite a number of students, from the other houses. And Hagrid, the Game-Keeper and teacher for that lesson. The students studied the Phoenix. Dumbledore's own pet, Fawks was used an example. Melina found the creature interesting and beautiful. A lot of students, just like her admired the Phoenix.
The rest of the half-day went surprising quickly with Ancient Runes and Divination. Most seemed to think that Professor Trelawney was bit loopy. But she found the woman and her predictions fascinating and interesting. Melina could tell the older woman was kind. Just took her own predication rather seriously, maybe a little too much...which seemed to put of some students. As some thought, it was supposed to be for good fun too.
After her lesson ended. Melina walked out of the classroom. Her books in her hands. Chatting to a Gryffindor student. Melina smiled when she saw Zander waiting for her "Hey, how was your day so far?" she asked, as she walked over to him. She glanced over at the Gryffindor girl "I'll see you later." she said with a small wave towards one of her new friends.
A few other students, stopped in their tracks. Surprised to see the new girl, already had the attention of Zander. A few murmurs broke out, that Melina had an escort already.
Melina tried to ignore the whispers. But wondered what it was about. "How's your little sister doing?" she asked. Wondering if he had a chance to catch up with Ester yet.
Location; Kingdom of Abhainn. Interacting With; King Maddox Auclair@Scarlet Loup
Lucian had spent been somewhat quite that day. Maybe it was the nerves of the arrivals of everyone. The final steps of the treaty were in front of them...or more so especially in front of his elder brother; King Maddox and the Kingdom. Lucian had worried about the treaty. Maybe the war, had made him cautious of the other Kingdom. The young Prince wondered, if the alliance would bring anything good for Abhainn. Most of all, he wondered how the people..Nobles of Sliabh were like.
Lucian only knew Amaranthea. Not that he knew her a lot. But the pair had a few conversations. And she perhaps one of the most kindest outsiders he knew. But he knew, not everyone would be like that. But nonetheless, there was nothing Lucian could do about this matter. All he had to do was be nice, respectful...and see for his own self, how the arrivals would be like. Hopefully, they'd be friendly...nice to get on with.
As he stood beside his elder brother. 'I wonder what they're all like.' he thought to himself. The carriages were getting closer and closer. "They're almost here." Lucian breathed out, before glancing over at Maddox. "Feeling nervous?" Lucian asked his elder brother. Flashing his brother a smile. Wondering how his brother was faring with his nerves. If he was nervous at all.
When the carriages finally arrived. Lucian watched the royals getting out. One by one, he took them in. He remained composed...a friendly smile on his face. He bowed his head in respect towards the King and Queen of Sliabh, as well as the Princess Julianna. Already, she seemed flustered by his elder brother. It wasn't long, before Lucian spotted the young Prince and Princess of Sliabh. Jaxton was the first to notice him it seemed. Lucian smiled back, with a head nod. The two Prince's seemed about the same age, height. Whilst the young Princess, she looked a little younger than the both of them.
Lucian smiled over at Elaisse, with a soft friendly welcoming smile. He didn't want to interrupt his brother and his future sister in law. There'd be plenty of time to meet everyone and properly introduce oneself.
Yavanna had barely felt sad. But to hear Thorin speak so harshly about her kin and even doubt her good intentions. it was saddening and hurtful. It seemed like the Brightest Star of Rivendell, was becoming dimmer and dimmer...with her sadness. Her light fading...like a dying star would fade in the night sky. She tried to smile, as she saw Fili look at her. But her smile seemed almost forced..and lacking her usual happiness.
"I have yet to meet an elf, that doesn't hide their true intentions." Thorin breathed out...seemingly ignoring everyone's comments. He hated to be told otherwise...apparently, he was very very stubborn. Not one to admit his mistakes easily. "And I don't need the likes of you, being around my Nephews...to charm them and betray them." Thorin's jaw clenched.
Those words, felt a slap to Yavanna. The bright light she once bared...seemed to fade out almost totally. Saeril's warm smile, and the support of Fili, Kili, Barin and Bilbo was the only thing that kept her light flickering slightly. But it was weak. Yavanna smiled back at Saeril...but it was a sad smile.
"I am sorry...I think, I should excuse myself for the night." Yavanna's voice cracked slightly. "Goodnight." she then began to leave.
"Yavanna wait.." Kili tried to stop the young Elf princess, but she quickly hurried away. He just frowned and he folded his arms over his chest, glaring in annoyance. Turning to Thorin, he frowned. "I hope you're happy now!" he said. "When will you admit, not everyone's the enemy?! She's never done anything wrong! Her intentions...are true." he sighed shaking his head.
"You don't know that." Thorin said.
"Yes I do!" Kili raised his voice now. "She's never done anything, to suggest she's hiding something." he frowned shaking his head.
Charlotte's jaw clenched. Her eyes filled with irritated, and hate towards the Bitch of District 1. If only looks could kill. Charlotte's look might have killed Marsha a dozen times by now. If there was something that Charlotte hated; it was being referred to as being 'little' and talked down to. Marsha's words made her eyes roll into the back of her head. This was much as her fight, as it was Luke's. Charlotte's nostrils began to flare in anger, biting the inside of her cheek. Just to stop herself from spitting out a number of rude words out at the blonde from District one.
"It won't be me, loosing my tongue!" Charlotte spat back. "At least, I don't play the Bitch card, to try and impress!"
Luke rose a sharp eyebrow at Marsha. His eyes narrowed in a cold look. "It's as much, as her fight as it is mine!" He reminded Marsha. "Me and Charlotte are a team! So you better watch it!" his tone filled with a harsh coldness towards Marsha.
He smirked at her words, about the training. "Mhh, of course....We'll just see who's the better Archer." Luke remarked. "Of course, I wouldn't pull out of my own bet." he remarked, at the mention of a blind-fold.
"See you, in the Arena...you witch!" Charlotte hissed, biting her tongue to stop herself from saying another word. She felt quite relieved, when Marsha walked off. But she still felt agitated and quite angry. That was it. Marsha was on her to kill list, when the Games would begin. Luke could practically feel the anger and tension radiating from Charlotte. Not that he blamed her...Marsha pushed her buttons quite a lot. It was understandable.
"Don't worry...we'll get her." Luke promised to Charlotte. His words a whisper, only meant for her ears. The sorting process was still going, and soon enough. The Introduction room was starting to get empty...as the tributes, each district one by one left with their Mentors...to their Apartment rooms.
