@yoshua171 Well I'm not the best at describing personalities which is why that's the only tidbit but I'll give you what I can
-and if anyone else wants to talk about relationships with Reiji after this feel free~
Anyway, to start he's kind of hypocritical when it comes to his hate of the rain. He sees the rain as a symbol of sorrow and sadness which despite those feelings his demeanor comes off as solemn and reserved. He's soft spoken though he commands a level of confidence and nobility in his voice. He's a proud swordsman who despite his feelings about the rain is deeply appreciative of strength that his Zanpakuto lends him. Reiji is no social butterfly and has a hard time connecting with others even Raikiyome who has pretty much the same disposition that he does. (Really two downers like them are not doing each other any favors ^.^;)
Well, that's about all I have until I've gotten to RP with him a little. Hope it helps and feel free to suggest interactions everyone~
Hmm, I think I can work with that just fine. Majime can respect someone's silence, and he can also work to, gently, pry them out of their shell. Might even have a very constructive friendship between the two ^_^
@yoshua171 Works for me man, but they are only random when you show me up ;__;
Woot. Lol, only random. I don't assume Majime will outright win any of his fights. It'll be an uphill battle, though people don't seem to think so. Seriously, kido is his only notable skill. It means he's practically mid-long range combatant who has no notable physical abilities to defend himself and can only use a limited shunpo to make distance. If that's not a huge vulnerability, I don't know what is.
<Snipped quote by yoshua171> Ohh, promotion. And Mirja is only scary when you's a doosh-nozzle.
She has a distinct dislike for men. Majime happens to be male. Also lol, "doosh-nozzle."
So I have been going over the character sheets for the last while and picking out those that Majime may have some relation to. This is me tagging the people who play those characters so that I might run my ideas by them.
@Vongola_Hasayo I was curious as to what sort of person your character, Reiji Kyuryu was. I found it interesting that he hates rain, given that his zanpakuto produces it (not a coincidence I'm sure). I'm curious if there might be some sort of interaction between majime and Reiji. Not sure what it could be, but I'd love to have a chat about it.
@LokiLeo789 I really like your character, for one. Secondly, Majime and Nero share some notable similarities personality-wise, though they are coming from different places, if that makes sense. I get the feeling that they'd get along very well as they have similar sensibilities, both having a less seen side of themselves that they, perhaps, might share with a like-minded soul.
My proposition is they be very close friends. Perhaps they met when Nero was wandering off as he tends to do :P Majime likely would have been ranked as the 5th seat of the 5th division at the time. Not sure how many years that is from the presence, but estimating based on what I know about Majime and a bit of intuition (lol) I'd say it was about 20 or so years ago.
Oh, by the way, I noticed that your zanpakuto's name has a translation of glass that is basically the same word, just pronounced the a japanese accent (damn you google translate...even though I regularly use you xD). This is only a suggestion and feel free to ignore it, but I went and typed "Glass,"...or was it "glass," (you'd be surprised at the difference not capitalizing a word makes in Google translate sometimes) I got the same translation. However, I took a look at the kanji list on the bottom right and clicked another translation and got "Hari," as an applicable translation of the word "Glass." If you like how it sounds better, feel free to use that tidbit of knowledge.
Your character, your choice. I just thought I'd offer the option :)
Anywho, below are my propositions for the individuals that Majime would be likely to have interacted with and maybe still interact with in greater frequency than others of the Gotei 13--though with some exception. There are some notes included that are in regards to Kounora, my captain.
Manami, Mayu (Kido Master) – Lieutenant {Already confirmed with @Ciphra} Endorsed him during his time in the Academy when it was thought that he might never be able to graduate due to his lacking ability in three out of four areas. Without Mayu, though he doesn't know it, Majime would have never become a member of the Gotei 13. The two have become good friends, but Majime suspects that Mayu is hiding something from him, though he is not entirely sure as to what it is. She has also served as one of his teachers, and now rivals, helping him test new kido, and to learn the principles of the art.
Yuka Mogami (Kido Master) – Likely friends with Kounora. (Captain) {Working on this in PM with Tarquin} Majime and Yuka likely had a very easy friendship, as well as him looking up to her as someone he genuinely admired and respected. Her idealogy is one that he agrees with wholeheartedly, and though he left her division, his departure was not lacking in its sad goodbyes. The two still meet up semi-regularly (if that's alright with you) and his reason for leaving had little to do with her or his squad, but rather than his skills pulled him to the Kido corps, where he felt, that in regards to his abilities, he would fit in and be even more capable of bettering himself with others who could compete at his swiftly rising caliber. Even to this day he holds a fondness for Yuka and many of the members of the 5th division. He left some time after achieving the rank of third seat.
Yuka served to preform zanjutsu, hakuda, kido, and hoho demonstrations at times, allowing him to see how those who fought with the former two could be countered and predicted, whereas she did the latter two to help him learn kido, and to perhaps improve his sorely lacking skill in shunpo in particular.
Nero Kimashi (Kido Master) – Lieutenant Someone that Majime would be likely to get along very well with considering they both have mastered Kido and are very social/personable and loyal individuals of a similar intelligence. One might call them brothers.
Airi Mao (Kido Master) – Captain. Probably doesn't get along with Kounora, though they may have a grudging respect for one another. @Hantu Kongkek
Even if Majime sometimes finds Airi to be somewhat overwhelming to be around, her leadership qualities coming off too strong perhaps, he thinks she is an incredible person and most of all an interesting one. He respects her skills and her character and while he has only seen it several times, he has incredible interest in her zanpakuto's abilities.
He may have asked her to use it from time to time, perhaps even challenging her, though it is unlikely that he has ever gotten her to release into bankai, which is something he sorely wishes he could see her do.
Kawagana, Arina (Kido Expert) – Lieutenant @CaughtInTheRiddle While he initially sought her out for training in kido, due to her superior skill at the time, he, with time he surpassed her level and came to find her an intriguing woman who was far more than what one might think her at a fleeting glance. The two, despite Arina's sometimes lazy and sometimes questionable morals, became friends of a sort, with Majime understanding the woman in a way that few likely do.
Shota Hayashi (Hakuda Master) – Lieutenant @Brink Something of an oddity to Majime, Shota is someone who zoomed past him during his time in the Academy, excelling in essentially every field. He gives the young shinigami space, though deep down, he has a sort of jealousy for the boy, something that he dislikes admitting to himself. While part of him wishes to fight the lieutenant, the rest knows better, as to challenge a Hakuda Master such as Shota, with skills such as his own could, and likely would, prove a very dangerous decision—especially considering the boy's temperament.
Mitsunari Osaka (Kido Master) –Lieutenant @Oblivion666 While he initially sought Mitsunari out to learn kido from him, he quickly found that the shinigami's mood swings were a bit too much for him to deal with on a regular basis. He keeps the man at arms legnth, though on his good days, Majime will sometimes show up to have a long chat.
Mirja (Captain) @KabenSaal Stays far away from the strange and often scary woman.
Margaret Maxim (Kido Master) – Seated shinigami @Zobozun Thinks the woman a kind, if guarded, soul.
>Expand on relationship via a conversation with Zobozun.
It appears that my edit to Majime's history did not save. I just now fixed that. So yeah. mind you there is an empty space in that history that will be filled on by the relationships he's forged with the other characters in the past as well as how he became the Vice Chief.
My pre-emptive edits to Majime have taken place. I decided to tone down certain things and better explain others based on the feedback I received earlier, as well as some things I considered on my own and could infer as my time GMing Bleach RPs and assisting others in balancing characters.
For anyone who's curious, since it did start the whole shebang, I am currently editing Majime--though I am still waiting on the GMs to get around to reviewing him (this is not me rushing them, just me stating he hasn't been reviewed yet).
I figure that I already know some of the things that I could nerf, or at least explain better.
@Zobozun@Phobos, since you two are the former Vice Chief and the Kido Commander/Chief respectively, I'd love to have a chat on the circumstances of his gaining the position of Vice Chief. Additionally @Tarquin since your character is the head of Squad five, which he was a part of for a time, would you like to help me figure out if there is any history between him and your captain?
As a note, I'm probably going to go and read the characters at some point either today or tomorrow so that I have a full spectrum of who has what and who is what sort of person. Typically I do that before expressing interest or before making a character, but I didn't this time because when I joined this I was busy with work (as I will be this week after Thursday).
P.S. I asked @Hantu Kongkek if he minded my character remembering very vague bits of his history in the skype chat and he said he did not at all mind. I'm tagging him so that if someone thinks I'm lying, he can confirm that I am in fact not.
Also, to avoid this same problem of, as Zobozun put it, "Creating a character in a void," (which while I partially disagree, I understand the sentiment and will thus move forwards in the following manner), I am going to post an excerpt from my 7th division captain's CS so that anyone who might be interested in being a part of her history or having an established relationship (be it a rival, hated individual, friend, romantic interest, or otherwise) may get a sample of her and thus approach me.
Just tag me if you're interested in the above bit regarding my captain. As to the excerpt...BAM!
Name: Yōki(Keeper), Kōunora(Rainfall on fields). Alias: Swan-song; more pending.... Nicknames: Nora; more pending.... Gender: Female. Age Appearance: 26. Race: Plus-->Shinigami. Rank & Division: Veteran Captain of the 7th Division.
Additional Appearance Information: An elegance about her every movement, Kōunora wears her shihakusho and haori with pride, having modified the latter not at all. However, her Shihakusho possesses less folds, and instead hugs her figure more closely, resembling the garb of the second division captain in its way. More often than not, Kōunora wears her striking silver hair tied into a long pony tail largely keeping it out of the way during her daily duties and should she need to engage in combat. The woman's elegant form stands at 5'3 and weighs roughly 128 lbs.
Personality: Kōunora is a compassionate woman with an effortless elegance to her actions and an air of wisdom. Caring deeply for those taken under her wing, the women protects them just as fiercely as she teaches and cultivates them. A worldly woman, Kōunora is not one to shy away from any task, no matter how mundane it may seem or how others might look at her as a result. She cares little of the opinions of others, thus revealing her own assurance of self. While she does her utmost to temper this confidence, it can sometimes get away from her where it can become arrogance for a time. Yet, while Kōunora may appear totally sure of herself to others, internally she is somewhat more plagued by the troubles of the common folk; namely indecision and a sense of being empty or lost.
In essence, Kōunora is a woman in transition, attempting to fully embrace the creative spark within her so that it may become a roaring flame. However, for now that flame is but embers and her hidden passion and creativity remain largely untapped. As a result of this she appears pragmatic and strict to many, perhaps even overbearing at times, though most who know her have come to understand that oftentimes she is this way only because she cares.
However, it is perhaps her loyal and caring nature that makes her so feared by her enemies as any harm done to those she cares for is seen as a terrible harm done to her. As such, when those around her are hurt, she will, in whatever way she can, seek retribution. So overzealous are the punishments she has doled out in the past, that few dare to cross her or hers—most doing their best to show due respect for the captain, her friends, and her entire division for she is not a woman whose pride one mars without consequence.
“You really shouldn't have struck one of mine,” she said, voice filled with assurance, her body language tense. While her blade may have not been drawn, the look in her eyes, and the pulsating aura that surrounded her was threat enough to more than compensate. On the ground behind where she stood lay the motionless form of a seated officer, one of hers. Her hand moved to her blade as the arrancar smiled in response to her anger.
The being closed the distance, meaning to strike her, but too late he noticed her other hand grasping a cube of white reishi. “Chōten seigen,” said the captain as her palm opened upwards, releasing the cube into the air before her, where it unfolded, thus revealing a smaller black sphere. Immediately upon its unveiling, the sphere shot outwards expanding around her. The arrancar retreated, but not before it touched him. As his sonido ended he found ribbons of black reiryoku where his finger and toe had touched the sphere.
He looked up, but found the orb of energy impenetrable to his senses. It only last a moment, suddenly cracking and then shattering to reveal Kōunora's glittering form, the air about her shimmering with silver light, a light which seemed to refract off of thin air. Her blade was drawn at her right side and it shone with a subtle gold, as if a muted light had been trapped within it.
Eyes locked with his, Kōunora pushed forwards into a shunpo and at the same moment two tiny shockwaves blossomed from beneath her feet. In that instant she vanished, reappearing two feet from the arrancar who, in response, stabbed his blade at her torso. She spun to the right, dancing around his strike, blade reversing grip, before it plunged at an angle, behind her back, and into the hollow's side.
Immediately the arrancar howled in agony before he was sent flying as a powerful wave of kinetic energy washed over him, sending him into the wall of a building, which formed a crater as a result.
He had no time to recover as he saw her lightly jab her blade into the air five times, tiny blades of silver light pinning him to the wall as she did so. Her red eyes gleaming, the captain crossed the distance in an instant, placing the tip of her blade before the throat of the arrancar as she did so. “Have you any last words, hollow?”
“I hope my fello--...” he began, before the blade sliding slowly into his neck interrupted his words. In moments he was unable to breath, and after long minutes of gagging on his own blood, his convulsions ceased and the light left his eyes. There was no empathy or remorse in the actions, not a single shred of a compassion in her fierce crimson eyes.
Pulling her blade from the hollow's corpse as it began to dissolve, the captain watched the process till the last shred of reishi dispersed into the air, and only after did she flick the blood from her glowing blade and sheath it.
“Enlighten, Tenshi!” Sung out Kairi, the 20th seat of Kōunora's division. Smiling lightly at the glimmering blade, the captain slid one foot back and turned so her left shoulder faced her sparring partner—or rather, her trainee. “Keep your eyes open. Use your peripheral vision and trust your instincts. Strike first,” she advised, and so Kairi crossed the distance and slashed at Kōunora's abdomen, as if to disembowel. However, the captain took a single step back, arm rising reiatsu wreathing her gloved hands, to push the blade aside. In the moment that the swing passed her, she stepped forwards and nearly drove her palm into Kairi's collarbone.
She stopped half an inch short leaving Kairi to stare up at her, eyes wide. Kōunora smiled emphatically, “You can't let fear take over. Fear is the mind killer. You will freeze in place as you just did when you ought to retreat or counter.”
She dropped her hand and took a step back, “Again.” With the word Kairi struck out, blade stabbing forth. Kōunora turned, letting the blade slide past her. Her chest facing the blade, shoulder pointed towards Kairi, she met the shinigami's eyes and thrust her palm forwards towards her head. This time Kairi responded, jumping back, bringing her sword arm close, before slashing upwards at the captain's outstretched arm.
Kōunora smiled, shifted her hand's position even as she did her body's, before pushing off the ground and running right under the swing as the blade's alignment passed above shoulder height. She closed in, whirling for a spinkick, but Kairi swiveled backwards on her heel, barely spinning out of the way even as she slashed at Kōunora. The captain ducked under the strike and retreated several steps following the maneuver. The eyes of the two met again and Kōunora's smile was still present. “Now start actually using your zanpakuto, Kairi. I know you can do better.”
Smirking, Kairi drew a circle in the air and then dashed forwards through it. Her body became wreathed in golden light and her speed increased dramatically. Kōunora grinned and danced out of the way of several consecutive thrusts of the girl's blade. On the last one of the series she let her fingers encircle the blade and pull, offsetting her opponent's balance even as she drew her own blade for a slash with her free hand. Kairi's eyes narrowed after a brief half second of surprise, and a pulse of light released her blade, allowing her to jump from the path of the captain's blade.
“Now let's see how well you defend,” Kōunora said with a smile before she closed her eyes, body sideways, blade pointed behind her, arm in alignment with her left shoulder. Whispered were words that even Kairi, being so close, could not hear, and then the captain's eyes opened once more. “...Tsubame ken-kyō(Swallow’s Speculum),” she stated even as a flash of golden light overtook her blade, fading to a silver light that spread about her form.
Kairi shifted her stance, swallowing hard as she eyed the captain's now released zanpakuto. “Are you ready,” Kōunora asked her. Kairi nodded, and so it was that Kōunora advanced. Dashing forwards, she suddenly turned, approaching at an angle so she passed Kairi, at which point she swung at her side. Kairi adjusted and blocked the strike, though Kōunora had already begun the next, pushing herself sideways and away, before she stabbed past Kairi's blade and at her neck. The girl lifted her blade diagonally, pushing the captain's away from her just in time. She dodged backwards and to the side, and Kōunora followed, stabbing once more.
However, her strike missed, passing over the girl's shoulder before the captain withdrew so that Kairi could not retaliate.
....
The espada was a barely perceptible flash and as she had found, its attacks, whether physical or energetic, were devastatingly strong. Unwilling to sustain further damage, she waited, and then the hollow struck. Three massive cero, all at once, from three angles, one in front of her, wide enough to stop her from dodging up or down, whereas the other two were in front of her and to either side, closer than the one in the middle. She could go back, but the three would likely join into something even less manageable. A worried frown knit her brow as she let her foot slip back, bracing her, even as she reversed the grip of her blade, letting her right arm follow her foot's movement, held diagonally in the air behind her, blade perpendicular to the arm. She took in a deep breath, deciding her course of action, though she hated that the pitiful being had driven her to such lengths, she announced her technique.
“Kussetsu keiro(屈折径路 'Refraction path').”
Immediately, the intensity of the silver light rose before a great hollow column of silver reiryoku formed, behind the sword, its length difficult to pinpoint as both its openings faded into the air, as if it continued even where it could not be seen. Then, taking action she stepped forwards and began her swing. Her blade arced forth, the curved column following suit, to meet the first of three cero head on. However, it did not block it, but instead pulled it into its hollow and as she spun the same happened to each cero before she completed her spin, back turned to the remainder of the slower, more massive attack barreling towards her.
Her stance shifted and so did her grip, as she turned and thrust her blade at the massive cero. What followed was a flash of red reiryoku, made resplendent as it shone a dazzling silver at the edges, piercing through the center of the larger blast. However, the column that had pulled the cero in had not left it, instead extending its length through the entire blast before holes opened up along its sides, releasing the red energy of the cero it contained to further disperse the attack.
She felt, even before she heard, the arrancar use sonido to occupy the space behind her, but to its surprise she had already began to move, grip reversing, blade brought forth, its pommel slamming into the hollow's stomach. Her expression serious, even grim, as the arrancar looked upon her face, before the last words he'd ever hear were uttered.
“Sai Soukatsui,” she stated, a red light binding him for but a moment before a massive blast of blue energy erupted from the pommel of her blade, turning his body to nothing 'cept ash and reishi. Behind her the column had shrunk and the energy of the three cero had dissipated as if they had never existed at all.
Also don't use those combat excerpts as an entirely accurate measure of power, reason being while they are accurate to her fighting, one or two of them might make it appear like she--or more specifically, her zanpakuto--is stronger than it actually is, when in fact something might have considerable limitations (which at least two of its techniques do). So yeah. That.
