I just don't see the point of lien myself. Like you've got credits for actual upgrades, so Lien aren't necessary there. The stuff they are going to be spent on, clothing and the like, are ultimately inconsequential and the price is up to the players discretion so the money spent is also pointless. Like in theory they have a limit, but in practice, since they're deciding the price, no real limit exists. If you have Lien you probably have enough for whatever item you desire. You can argue responsible RPers will avert this, but said RPers will be just as responsible without a tangible amount of money.
Focusing more on credits for upgrades makes more sense if you ask me. Let players RP as rich or poor as they like. You want fancy clothes and a new laptop and you think your character has enough money then go for it. Why create arbitrary limits that don't make sense from an gameplay or story side.
That said if some itemshop with set prices for goods was made that would make a little more sense. Of course then you might start straying too far into tabletop territory.
