Hi, I'll be working in Ambra's place for the time being. I've finished the fancy formatting of the OOC, along with its subsidiary posts and pictures. All that's left is some polishing, writing the plot to replace the lorem ipsum text, and looking towards the graphics.
So, in the mean time, we have decided the names on the three major Houses.
The North is ruled by House Lear, regional capital is Penkarth.
The South is ruled by House Ralei, regional capital is Caerleon.
The West is ruled by House Rathmore, regional capital is The Windkeep. House Rathmore is also the seat of the King of Estiala.
The East is no longer considered a ruling region, as it has been abandoned and forbidden to enter. No characters will be from here.
In addition to us naming a few minor Houses in service to these major ones later on, you guys and gals can also create a minor House of your own, from which your character can originate from. There won't be a limit on how many characters you can have, but the general rule of thumb is that you should only make as much as you can develop equally and handle.
Now, for some cool stuff for you, our participants; as you know, each House must name a Lord in its rule. This especially applies to... the major Houses.
When the OOC goes up, the Lords of the major Houses will be open for anyone to claim except for the incumbent King of Estiala. The children, who are the Princes and Princesses of these Houses, will also be open for anyone to claim.
This will operate on a first-come-first-serve basis. Another general rule of thumb for this would be to limit each person to only having one character as a Lord to a House. That would mean you can not have a character who is the Lord of Penkarth, and another character who is the Head of another minor/major House in any region. You can still make the Princes or Princesses to the same Lord character, or other minor/major Houses, if they are not taken.
At the same time, it is not required to create a Lord or Prince/Princess. You can simply create someone such as a ward to a House, a wandering knight seeking a lord for service, and etc.
Since this roleplay is moreso drawing influences from Game of Thrones (similar plot themes, terminology, etc), Estiala itself is not a massive continent like Westeros. The number of Houses for each region is different based on size, but compared to Game of Thrones, there will be fewer minor Houses, in order to make more sense and avoid potential confusion. A lot of these minor Houses will pretty much only be mentioned, but not controlled by us. Maybe in the future, those opportunities may be explored.
I'd probably go off of these numbers:
