So, I'm thinking I really going to take this to a level of D&D. I'm not going to have my own characters, per se. I'll list all NPCs PCs have met into the first post of the Character tab. They will be short descriptions so you may reference them should you feel the need. They will be broken down by character so only those characters have interacted/know of that NPC and have that relevant information.

As for posting, I feel I don't need to have an opening post. Since it's going to be sandbox and I'm going to be reactionary to everyone, I don't think it'd make sense for me to post first about something that's probably not going to be relevant. I also don't want to write something relevant and it ruin any surprise. xP
So I'm thinking both of you can post first. However, that brings me to my next item.

Posting frequency:
I had the idea that I'd post every week (we'll just say Saturday). People may post only once after that post. Those who don't post and didn't request more time or didn't want more time will be skipped and I will post again in response to those who've posted. Those skipped have the opportunity to catch up with a collaboration with me during that next week.

Does that system sound fair but still quick enough? Is it too fast?

It sounds good. I think it'll work just fine, and we can always adjust the system if necessary, right? So you want each of us to make our own opening post then. I can try and get that written up. I'm going to be busy this week so I'd rather write it now and have it ready to copy and paste when we get the IC going.

On another note: It's up to us just how much interaction we want our characters to have with each other, so what are y'all thinking? You wanna aim for starting in the same area and maybe meet up or just scatter them individually and see where that goes? Diego has no particular reason to prefer one part of Hoenn to another.

@Prints Avoid Yes, you'll make your own introductory post. You can be as descriptive as you wish. I just want everyone to realize that the first poster will determine the season and time of day at the end of their post, to which everyone else should follow. I don't want to have to worry about time discrepancies.

@Prints Avoid, @DepressedSoviet, @Imperfectionist
There's another layer that I was thinking about, however.
I, as the GM, would like to consider the ability to meta-game, power-play, auto-hit, and control your characters that is normally poor form in RPing. But these "powers" will not be utilized often, or even seldom. There might be times when I want to push a character in a certain direction, have them confronted by a near-impossible conflict to work through, or interact with another character that they wouldn't normally interact with, for purposes of the plot as well as general intrigue and forcing character development from the rest of you.

So, the question is, are all of you comfortable with my taking slight control over your characters and Pokemon when/if the time comes? If you'd rather, I can always PM individuals when I wish for an event or interaction to occur and they can write it out how it'd actually occur and provide depth to the situation rather than my just going "Okay, now you're - here!" (which I wouldn't actually do it in that manner, but you get the idea). I'd just like to clarify that I'm not going to pick up your character and drop them across the map. I'd simply "suggest" they head for a certain location or follow a particular individual/etc.

@PhoenixI'd rather you PM us if the time comes, and we write it, over you writing it yourself. I'm fine with you "guiding" the story a particular direction, I just much prefer to write my characters myself.

@DepressedSoviet I understand your dislike of the idea. However, perhaps if I clarify and provide examples, you'll have a better idea of what I mean by "taking control."

Auto-hits would be from a Pokemon off-scene and unexpected. It would be a "hit," but then your response would be yours and, should it fall into a battle, it would play out as a normal back-and-forth.
However, I'd like to reserve the right to make attacks land that I "believe" should have landed (against/from NPCs or other PCs).

The "meta-gaming" would come in by introducing characters from your own character's past and playing them "with" you. So, for example, introducing a contact Nick had made in Kanto and coming up with a reason for the meeting or interaction to occur. Ultimately, we'd both play them until they leave the scene, or such. So I'd pretty much develop the character for you.

The "power-playing" would be my pitting you against someone or something you couldn't possibly succeed.

I guess the actual movement of your character isn't necessary, however. I could suggest it ICly and then your character would act in the way that'd be fitting. I'll probably PM you if I need to learn something that your character would investigate/follow/fall for.

Yeah, I wasn't going to go ridiculous crazy with it. I'm trying a new GM approach that I hope will keep everyone involved and around for a longer period of time than two months and only write 1 post. Dx

And I'm really not above being debated over a ruling/event I've made/created. I'd like to consider myself pretty reasonable and I'm open to opinions of others and (civil) arguments. So if I do anything way too drastic, let me know and we'll work it out. ^^
I'm all about collaboration and cooperation. But I also love drama, so I might get a little carried away and have to be pulled back a little. I expect you all to hold me accountable. >D

so… sorry for an opening post that is both long and boring? but i mean a lot of it is just establishing the scene. so important stuff for continuity: if you wanna join my character, she's just leaving mauville heading towards the daycare/verdanturf. night time. rain storm.

I'll post tonight or tomorrow. I do have a question though. How's the map scale looking. Opening post says Verdanturf is close enough to Maryville to talk to in one night if I understand correctly. Are we gonna try and keep it scaled for distances or just kinda see what the plot demands?

personally, i was thinking that mauville and verdanturf in particular were close. they seem kind of closely linked (not just talking geographically) and have a well-worn path between them, with the daycare there. i imagine back-and-forth between those two is a pretty regular thing, so a trip maybe takes like… an hour or so? if that's walking speed that's about 3 miles. other locations tho don't necessarily scale the same way as in the games.

that was just the assumption i was going off of, anyway.
