I really like this character, but much like Silver Carrot's character I want to make sure everything is fair. There's clearly a way for someone to avoid getting caught in his mind shenanigans, so that's fine. But does anything change about the targets when they're taken into his dreams? Are they still able to do everything they would in the real world (powers, physical capabilities, etc)? I'm also willing to be a little bit lenient about powers when it comes to staff members anyway, since I kinda want them to be a little bit OP

Daler's dream world shows people in his mind as they see themselves in a dream - be it as a form of themselves, an animal, whatever. Despite the appearance shift, those in the dream world know exactly who the others are. Their powers work as normal unless he specifically commands all powers within his dream world to stop - which includes his own constructs, as a sort of 'peaceful' state that reflects the calmness of his own mind. Strength of abilities and physical strength are variable and are dependent upon the mental strength of those he brings into his world - a person with a diminished sense of self worth, for instance, finds themselves weak and vulnerable unless they choose to accept Daler's offered gifts of strength and support. Meanwhile, someone with incredible mental fortitude in all areas is utterly monstrous, and is considered to have passed his class.

I'll go ahead and add these little details into the CS.

Hmmm...normally I'd be against the idea of not being able to defend themselves well in the dream world, but I do feel like that could actually be an interesting method for teaching the other students. Also, I imagine this can backfire on him if the person that he traps in the dream world is very confident or egotistical. And considering anyone who would willingly fight a staff member would probably be pretty confident anyway, it kinda works out. Alright, accepted

Now that Brad's done, I'll inject more pure caffeine straight into my hepatic vein so I can work on my mentor!

Also hit me up if anyone wants to be buds or rivals with Bradley, because I'm a poor judge of character xD

CS added to my post in char tab. Added in the little details, added some flavoring (mostly turmeric flavored).

Time to get cracking more on character interaction PMs.

So far, I'm looking at Jonathan being a study partner for Ryuuto, being involved in a sort of passive-aggressive yet semi-respectful rivalry with Hondo, and a classmate of Musashi's in Alexei's Augmentor class. He knows about Clarabelle's tendencies and keeps his distance out of respect for her desire to keep to herself.

PM me with ideas :D

Well...the character herself is good, but the problem is that she's almost exactly the same as my character Akiko. And unlike most of the time when I say that the characters are just kinda similar, this time the character seems to be much more similar. Not that there isn't anything different about them, but they seem to have more similarities than differences. She kind of just seems like a slightly meaner version of Akiko that chose to live in the gutter rather than starting there

Look, I don't mean any disrespect, but I really don't agree with this assessment. My character is supposed to be a Yankee/Delinquent cliche, and I know your character has elements of that, but they're more someone that's been mistaken for being one than actually being one. I mean, I wrote that my character committed crimes, and crimes that weren't simply defending herself. Unless I've vastly misunderstood what I've read, I don't think your Akiko would go around smashing people's windows in when they didn't do anything other than expand their business, and I think that's a fairly extreme gulf of difference right there. I don't think "slightly meaner" does justice to the difference here; your character might break the rules when she thinks they're unfair, but mine would break the rules when it suits her even if the rules are the only thing standing between the earth and hell.

I know I wrote that thing about fighting bullies, but I didn't mean it as though she actually went around fighting bullies all day. In fact, more often than not, she's being a bit of a bully herself, seeing as the people she does stuff to don't exactly deserve the level of retribution she exacts on them. It was more just to play into the trope of delinquent characters not being total monsters, at least when they aren't faceless side characters or villains. It's like, she can be a nice person under really exceptional circumstances, but she's really bloody petty too, and I don't think your character is supposed to be anything like that.

Also, I think her vanity is a pretty large difference between the two. Your character is not only poor, but you specifically wrote that they don't care about fashion, where mine really really cares. I read that female delinquents are often portrayed Kogals/Gyaru girls, which is why I wrote all that stuff for Yasu about her being consumed with having nice things. She's the kind of person that will talk and talk about the latest trends whereas yours would probably try and tune that stuff out.

I mean, yeah, I can see some similarities, and believe me I read all the sheets before I made mine. But I don't think it's fair to say they're "almost exactly the same", and I believe there's more than enough to make them both distinct from the other. You compared your character to Goku earlier (in the sense you said she would be like Goku to Ryuuto's Vegeta), while Yasu is definitely more of a Vegeta. Heck, she'd probably strongly consider beating people up to gain immortality if she could; there might be a good person hiding in there, but there's a vain and petty person manning the helm.

  • Name: Natsuki Sumiko
  • Age: 15
  • Gender: Female
  • Personality: Sumiko is a friendly, cheerful girl with a very outgoing personality. She enjoys meeting new people and making friends, and could even be described as rather aggressively friendly, eager to introduce herself to others. She believes that people can solve any kinds of problems if they can just get through to one another, and so naturally she wants to build relationships with everyone in order to ensure that it's easy to solve problems for others. Sumiko likes helping people and will go out of her way to do so, even if it's to her own detriment. Even if it seems nearly impossible. Even if that person is seemingly her enemy, she'll try to talk to them and see what's wrong. This cheery, friendly demeanor seems to be nearly unbreakable... nearly. While Sumiko is determined to try and talk out any problems, even those of her enemies, she also won't hesitate to fight and attempt to defeat them in order to get through to them. And if someone is truly terrible, she'll try to beat them as hard as she can. Truly heinous acts can make her truly angry. In most cases, however, Sumiko is friendly and easygoing, just wanting to make friends and help people out. However, she has a bad habit of charging into things without thinking them through.

Sumiko absolutely loves food, as well, eating a great deal more then anyone would ever expect she can pack away in her body. In fact, it seems almost impossible that anyone could eat as much as she does and still remain healthy, but somehow she manages this astounding feat. Perhaps she somehow stores it away somewhere inside her. Regardless, Sumiko loves good food and eats a huge amount of it. She claims this recharges her energy.

She also has a strong sense of justice, refusing to allow innocent people to get hurt.
  • Backstory: From an early age, Sumiko loved stories of heroes. She loved hearing about justice, about the people who fought for the innocent, to protect others. Sumiko wanted to help people like that. To help everyone, everyone she could. Even people who called themselves villains, if she could. Growing up, she constantly volunteered to help people, constantly jumped to the defense of people being bullied, and generally tried as hard as she could to be a hero like she wanted to be. To help people in need. However, this often got her in trouble, or even bullied herself. In spite of all of this, she wanted to keep helping anyone she could. Even the bullies when it came down to it. When her abilities awakened she was overjoyed.
Now, she wants to be the best hero she can be.
  • Appearance: "Oh, did you want one? Uhhh, do you mind that I already took bites out of both?" She's about average height for her age and ethnicity.
  • Equipment: Sumiko doesn't carry anything out of the ordinary for a schoolgirl.
  • Abilities: Sumiko isn't exceptionally athletic but she does decently well enough, and can fight remarkably well in hand to hand with an unpredictable amateur style featuring a lot of kicks and punches. She's actually quite a good cook when it comes to Japanese food, as well.
  • Channeller category: Augmentor
  • Description of power: Star Shiner - Sumiko has a baseline amount of energy, which she usually splits evenly between her four limbs. This results in twenty-five percent of her energy being in each of her arms and legs, increasing her strength greatly and causing each of them to glow slightly when in a fight. However, she can divert this energy to enhance any of the limbs' strikes more, producing much more powerful strikes and a more brilliant, flame-like aura around the limb being enhanced. Without any other augmentation, she can shunt a hundred percent of her energy into one limb for an attack. However, she has some abilities that allow her to do more then this, and she may learn even more.
  • Names/descriptions of moves:
    • Star Igniter! - Sumiko's basic ability to channel energy into her limbs.
    • Stellar Impact Punch/Kick! - Sumiko increases the amount of energy in her fist or foot at the expense of her other limbs, up to fifty percent.
    • Super Stellar Impact Punch/Kick!! - Sumiko goes up to seventy-five percent in one limb, increasing her strength further, but only for that one limb and at the expense of more energy for one or more of her other limbs.
    • Meteor Justice ~ Supernova Buster!!! - Sumiko focuses all her energy into her fist, causing it to ignite like a star. On impact, it erupts into a small explosion.
    • Starburst Overdrive - Sumiko temporarily breaks her limits and manages to channel a hundred percent into all four limbs. Her entire body blazes like a star while she does this, but it's extremely exhausting to the point of collapse.

I think when he says 'similar' me means 'they could be more different for maximum variety'.

I mean he said my teacher character was similar to his even though they have very little in common even though I can make a few parallels. Still completely different characters. Asa's kind of like a mom character, and Mako's more like a big sister character. Also Asa's normally kind out of class but harsh in the class whereas Mako's normally playful out of class but kind in the class (unless she needs to use her power to scare somebody)

Hmmm...alright, I believe this is fair. I suppose I'm just being a little bit paranoid when accepting characters who have similar traits to others, since that's been the downfall of many RPs that I've been a part of in the past and also because I want there to be enough differences between the characters for there to be conflict. However, I admit I might have been a little too harsh in this case though, and I might not have read the CS as close as I thought I did (a mistake I will try to avoid in the future). You've made a strong enough argument for your character that I'm willing to take back the criticism. So yeah, she's accepted

I just want to say I really appreciate this. I've dealt with all too many people that probably would have told me off just for having the nerve to disagree with the GM, so this is refreshing to see. Don't worry, I understand the concern around similar characters, I just thought mine wasn't quite that similar to yours.
