Lyminia

As she listened to the Chief, Lyminia raised an eyebrow before moving out of her cautious stance, the sharp branch she had picked up like a makeshift two-handed spear still held in her left hand for the "just in case" situation. Still, the powerful looking chief seemed to know what he was doing, and with that in mind she felt that she could lighten up a bit as well within the realm of reason. Now curious about what would be going on, the female Goblin looked on at the fight as closely as she could, watching the fog glow around Sabu and the two trade blows for a moment before things seemed to end as quickly as they started. As the language was still unfamiliar to her, it was not like she could understand what was being said, but at the same time one word instinctively came to mind as she watched this.

Magic.

She had been thinking about digging tools and getting the layout of the land, but perhaps some magic could be a good idea in this world. That is, if she could find some way to learn it....if she could learn it. She had no understanding on how to learn it and if it required a certain level of aptitude or not, and among other matters this was one that piqued her interest along with the subjects of gods and the like. Letting out a small sigh, Lyminia felt that perhaps she was getting a tad distracted from the basics she had wanted to take care of first, but the more she knew and pursued the stronger she could grow, right? With that in mind, perhaps if she asked about this "magic" business and such she could get ahead of the curve a bit. Not that it was a competition, but if she was ahead, she could do more. By being able to do more, she could become a better member of the tribe. That idea seemed to make sense, right?

"Heh. You still owe me that explanation, Chief," the female Goblins said, a musing smile coming to her face as she glanced over at the chief and spoke to him, the fact that she herself had so much interest in these things so far after waking up being an amusing thing to her, "Do you think Sabu will be willing to explain magic to me though? Maybe even see if he can teach it to me? I'd be interested in learning some magic after watching a bout like that."

Eh, it was an idea, and something she would pursue at this point in time it seemed. If possible. All in all, though, this first day of her life was becoming more and more interesting as the minutes passed by. \

Kluuto

Kluuto heard the chief's explanation. It seemed there was nothing to worry about and it was just "the usual thing" happening again. So it wasn't going to be a battle of life and death then. So it was just a spar of some sort. Still, Kluuto still gripped her stick tight and stayed close to the chief. She still didn't feel safe enough to watch the two without any protection. And who could blame her, with all the powerful aura the two was firing at each other and their surroundings? And how fast they clashed that Kluuto's eyes couldn't keep up at all? And that loud humming sound? She caught some of their words however. Second Stage, Ignite, angels in a desert; like before, she couldn't make sense of it at all, which was why she was glad that Iris asked about it to the chief. She was quite surprised however that Iris caught some of the words. Perhaps it was because they were spell words, so you didn't have to understand the human tongue to catch it. And speaking of spells, the pretty goblin asked whether she could learn magic from Sabu. Just like her, she had become quite interested in the whole thing after this amazing display of strength from the two parties, no doubt only possible through magic.

"I would also like to learn magic myself," Kluuto said to the chief. "If Sabu could teach me, then that would be great. But if he couldn't, then could you give me some pointers at the very least on where to start?" Kluuto had decided that even if she couldn't find a teacher, she would study magic on her own. Surely, the humans had books written all about it. She could just learn from them, utilizing her gift at the same time for maximum efficiency.

Rekzild

Interacting with Sabu:@Moonlit Sonata

Rekzild nodded in thought as the Chief answered his question. It had been more thorough than he had thought it would be, which allowed him to tune out the rest of the answers to the questions asked by his fellow newborns that had joined him in following their Chieftain. He was ill suited for both the Adventurer's Guild and foraging on his own, but taking from the trees and hunting animals. Sure he knew how to do both, but neither particularly interested him. Even if he was only a goblin scavenging in the wilds to survive seemed too...basic of a lifestyle for him. This thought caused his lips to pull downwards, it would seem he had the unfortunate placement to feel as though he was above the life he was given. He would just have to ensure that he managed to evolve to a more suitable form sooner rather than later.

No a life among the other goblins did not suit him in the slightest, not in this idyllic forest where they hunted and foraged as they were meant to. But he couldn’t very easily live with the humans in their city, he did not know the tongue they spoke in. Then again he was small, he could find locations to hide while learning the language. It would take work, but anything worth pursuing did. His first stop would have to be the library, once he made it to the city of course.

With the beginning of a plan beginning to form his focus shifted from his inner thoughts to the outside world once again. Apparently they had been walking long enough that they arrived in front of a goblin, presumably the Chief’s son, and a human woman in the start of a standoff. The words spoken between the pair were completely foreign, going right over his head. There was heat between the two, but a distinct lack of actual hostility. Soon after this was confirmed by the chief as he told the group to watch the ensuing demonstration closely.

Following the instructions he was given his eyes locked onto the pair before him, brilliant auras surrounding them both just prior to their charges. If it weren’t for the glows surrounding the woman he would have lost complete sight of her, even as it was he could barely keep up with her. The vibrations that followed every collision between the two burrowed into his skull, though it stopped short of causing actual pain.

The next vibration created after the two had upped their power output did begin to cause a minor throbbing in the back of his head, not that he could pay any attention to it as he was enthralled by the display of strength happening before his eyes. It was fascinating, not something he would have any desire to manage on his own but it was something that he found interesting nonetheless. Soon enough the spectacle came to an end and the two began to exchange words once more in the language he could not fathom.

The other newborns with him launched into questions towards the chief once the display had come to an end, he had another destination in mind. With purpose he walked towards Sabu and the woman, who had apparently not noticed they had company as of yet. He directed his gaze towards Sabu, as he was unsure if the woman understood their tongue.

”That was astounding to witness, the sheer power and finesse showcased between you two was unreal. I am Rekzild, a newborn member of your clan. I don’t know if your companion can understand my words so if she cannot would you be willing to translate my praise to her as well?”

Eek

Interacting with Aya: @Moonlit Sonata

Silently, Eek was listening to every word that Aya said, making a mental note of what to do and what not do. She rubbed her chin, following slightly behind the Goblin Druid, thinking of anything else that she would like to know at the time. A question formed in her mind, remembering that the chief had told her that the goblins did not use tools, a perplexing subject. However, upon opening her mouth, Kresh spoke up and she jumped to the side, raising her hands in defense. Eek had not realized that Kresh had decided to stay with them. How had she not noticed him before? The timid goblin shook her head from the fear and straightened out, continuing to follow Aya through the forest and fearfully eyeing Kresh, despite him having previously saying that he would not hurt her.

”Mi-,” she stopped herself, ”Aya, why does our tribe not use digging tools? Do we use any other tools? Do we use tools at all?” It was a bombardment of questions, but Eek was genuinely curious on the subject, finding vast interest in what the tribe uses to survive in these lands other than evolution. Surely, it could not just be those few options to be keeping the tribe afloat, that would not seem rather effective in the slightest. She scratched her head, thinking about the subject.

Her eyes began to wonder to the trees that surrounded them, watching them with a keen eye as to not be taken by surprise anymore times in one day. Though, she liked the view of the greenery, finding it somewhat calming to be in the presence of something so beautiful. A small smile came upon her face as her eyes explored the limitless forest that encompassed them, letting the sounds soak in for a small moment before her gaze shifted back to Aya and her smile slowly disappearing as her mind went back to the subject at hand. Eek had to force herself to remain focused on the situation, needing information to better her chances at surviving in this strange and foreign place.

Kichi

At Iris and Kluuto's questions, the chief of the Goblin tribe couldn't help a grin come to his face. A quiet laugh left him, as though he found something about what they had said funny.

Well, that was exactly the case, actually.

"Those incantations weren't magic, actually. The human could explain it better, obviously, but she trains in a combat art known as Align, which bases itself around 'vibration'. I'm told it was made by an order of monks in the desert across the northern sea. She seems to have cultivated to what those monks would call the 'second stage' of the art." He explained, shrugging slightly towards the end. Even if he was more than capable of evaluating the combat style given his eyes, things like the history behind it and the stages of cultivation were elements only those well-versed in it would actually be aware of, after all.

He had to wonder how it was that Iris had understood what the two had been saying when they were conversing in the human language though, but he would let it slide.

Glancing back over at his son, though, Kichi puffed up with pride very slightly. "As for Sabu, Potential Release isn't a spell, but rather his Gift. It draws out the latent power in the body and soul and amplifies it, pushing the user past their limits. As an addition, my family line has just the slightest trace of a dragon's blood in our ancestry. For me, it's too faint to do much besides some minor benefits, but Sabu's Gift has allowed him to essentially thicken the strength of his draconic bloodline, and by using his Gift at full force, what you saw just now is possible. His potential's honestly astounding. After his next Evolution, I'd be shocked if he wasn't finally stronger than me. For my dignity as a father, I can only hope that doesn't happen too soon though." He remarked, shaking his head with a chuckle.

"If you'd like to learn magic, there are better options than those two. Among our tribe, Aya is the best-suited for teaching basic magical theory. The humans have resources as well, but those generally require things like joining organizations to have access to. You could also always wait for Madam Archmage to return from her travels, but who knows how long that will take? If you do want to learn from those two, though, you'll be disappointed. The magic that they were both using is what the humans call 'Biological Harmonization Feedback'. It essentially runs magical energy through the body to boost strength, speed, reaction time, and a bit of durability. It's very common among the human soldiers. However, it's something only humans really have the aptitude for, but Sabu managed to create his own imitation of it through Potential Release. Monsters like us are already made of magical energy, so if we try to replicate it without a cheat like Sabu's, the results will be virtually nothing."

Sabu, Human Woman

At the approach of Rekzild, Sabu turned slightly, quirking up an eyebrow before he caught sight of the group of Goblins that was also nearby.

"<Oh, hey, it's da->" The Goblin cut himself off, switching from the human language to the Goblin one before continuing. "Oh, hey, it's dad. Came to make sure we didn't mess up the landscape, yeah? Oh, are these the newborns? They're finally up, solid." He called out, waving to the chief.

Around then, the youngling's compliment finally registered with him, his posture immediately straightening up and a new glint entering his eyes as a sharp laugh left him. "Gahaha! I appreciate your kind remarks, small one! <Hey, Ai, this one gives your fighting a thumbs-up.>" He remarked before translating to the human woman.

"<...thanks, I guess? Knoth's sake though, get your tribe to learn Human and just speak that already. Hearing that series of grunts you lot call a language gives me a headache.>"

Aya

"Eh..." A bit of an uneasy expression crossed Aya's face at Kresh's question, the druid going quiet for a handful of seconds before responding. "It's not like there's conflict between them or anything. The Elves are just...not to generalize, but you'll understand if you meet them. They're a bit quirky and like to keep to themselves."

"Humans are basically the polar opposite and will interact with anything that moves and most things that don't. Originally the Elf Village was public knowledge, but a few decades back the Elves got sick of dealing with the humans, pretended they moved to another forest, and got permission to live closer to the center in secret. As far as the humans know, the Elves moved out."
She explained, shrugging slightly.

In response to Eek, though, her expression became more confused than anything else. "I mean, why would we need digging tools? It's not like there's much to really get out of the ground here, save for annoying Lord Yggdrasil if we mess with roots, and the caves around here aren't exactly ore-rich or anything. We've got weapons for hunting, axes and such to chop down trees with, but digging tools specifically just aren't really needed, so we don't have any around." She said, speaking as though the reasoning was obvious. Granted, to someone like her who had been raised in this environment, it necessarily was. "No need to dig equals no digging tools at hand. Pretty simple."

Kluuto

When their bout was finished, Kluuto saw the scribbling goblin immediately walking towards Sabu and giving compliments at him and his partner's battle ability. She was quite surprised at the display. She didn't take him as such a bold person.

Kluuto then heard the chief's answer to her and the other goblin's question. So it wasn't exactly magic. For the human, it was a combat art of some sort. For Gabu, it was him utilizing his gift of unleashing and amplifying the latent power inside his body. Apparently, he and the chief had some dragon blood in them. The chief couldn't really use it to his advantage that much but Sabu had the perfect gift to bring out that draconic power.

The chief then also explained where they could learn magic properly. Aya should be able to teach her basic magical theorems. She could also learn from the humans but the fact that the humans seemed to use a type of magic that was unusable for monsters like her seemed quite counterproductive to her. It wouldn't hurt to just know the facts though, just for curiosity's sake.

Kluuto thought about which route she wanted to take first. She could train in that vibration combat art thing or learn basic magic from Aya first. Logically, the latter would be the better option since Aya was a part of the goblin tribe so she should be willing to teach her right away. And besides, she couldn't see herself being a frontline fist to fist fighter.

"Greetings," Kluuto followed, bowing at Sabu and the human woman, "I am Kluuto, one of the newborns. Like Rekzild said (she finally knew his name), that was quite a battle. I've never seen such power before, though I am a newborn after all so that's to be expected..." She scratched her head, not sure how to continue. "And if it's alright with you, I would like to accompany you to your next outing to the human city. My gift is language comprehension so I could understand the human tongue right away and I would like to hone that gift of mine."

Kluuto stood there, a bit tense as she waited for his response. She wasn't sure on the manner she should speak with him. Formal? Or more casual? He was the son of the chief after all.

Redd emerged from the other side of the bush, disappointed in the lack of red nectar. He then doubled around and came from the same direction they original came for in order to draw less suspicion. He say that another of the newborns was talking to the human. He looked at his make-shift spear, and placed it gently in the roots before approaching any closer.

He was no closer to tasting the red nectar than when he was born, though it felt so close. Their was a temptation just to take it by force, but no, he needed a subtler means of achieving his goal. He had heard that you need to join groups in order to learn magic from humans. He had memories he should not have of what groups are and what they do. For him, the magic would only be a tool for him to add to his tool-belt, the his real objective was to gain the trust of the humans.

Redd walked up to Sabu, for he did not know if the human spoke his language or not and very bluntly asked, "I want to join the humans to learn magic." The line was to emotionless and he technically was not lying, and instead just lying but omission.

Iris listened intently to the large amount of information they had just received, trying to keep it all in her head was proving a little tricky. It turned out her second suggestions to what the words had been sort of correct, that they were not magic but a technique exclusive to humans and a gift that was being used to mimic that technique. All in all that and the rest of the information provided a whole host of lines of inquiry from the more sensible of going and asking Aya about magic later to the probably less useful of how a dragon’s lineage ends up in a goblin. She did however wondered if any of them were like Sabu and the Chief. She was also curious about the other magic learned individual he mentioned.

"Hey boss, do any of us have interesting ancestry? Also who is Madam Archmage?"

She waved to Sabu as he mentioned them but left the others to go over and speak to him, knife ears… Kluuto apparently, had the gift of human language which was convenient for her when it came to all this. She wondered how hard that would be to pick up with regular learning and if anyone had the time to teach her and what she might be able to offer in return.

There were so many other things she wanted to as well though, she wondered where he would find the time. Their journey here had been just a glimpse into all the nature the forest contained, she wanted to explore it without having to keep up with the group. Yet she also wanted to get those digging tools to get at some of the roots of plants that her gift had told her might be useful. She also kind of wanted to go talk to Aya about magic. She supposed it depended if they could get money for the tools. She turned to Golden Eyes @Holy Grail

"Didja have any ideas of how you were going to get money for your digging tools? I can help you if you did, coz I kind of want some too."

Lyminia

After listening to the Chief's words and watching some of the other young goblins run over to the two combatants, the golden-eyed, attractive goblin let out a small sigh at the fact that what she had seen was not magic, but rather an ability that she and the other excepting Sabu would not be able to have. It was sad, but interesting all the same to think over. At least from what she had heard so far, the human city had opportunities to learn magic and the like, albeit with their own conditions it would seem. Truly, Lyminia wondered if she even had magic potential, but there was only one way to find out. She had to get someone to tell her who knew magic in the first place. It was an idea she felt would still be good to pursue despite her initial disappointment at hearing Sabu had not been using magic.

Though when Iris spoke to her about digging tools and such, it snapped Lyminia back into reality and out of her focused and pondering demeanor. At first she was visibly curious as to why this other female would so suddenly be asking her about the matter, but upon realizing that Iris might want to contribute to help both of them get tools a small smile came to the golden-eyed female's face.

"Well, Chief already mentioned selling thing from the forest to the humans, so maybe if i sell some ironwood and pelts i could make some coin to buy the tools with. If two of us are doing that together, we might be able to get the tools more quickly, eh?" she said to Iris, "Speaking of which, before any of us go trying to learn magic, maybe we should see if someone in the human town can tell us if are able to learn it in the first place before we spend any money or such on the venture."

It was perhaps a valid point. Knowing if they could learn magic would help them know if they could learn it or not. If she could somehow not learn magic, then in Lyminia's mind that simply meant more time spent for other activities. Before any hard decisions were made on her part, though, she had to see if she could learn magic and what it would cost to do so. If a Goblin of the tribe could teach her magic of some sort, that would be easier than possibly paying humans to teach her perhaps.

And the chief still owed her that explanation on how he evolved and became a Bugbear, dangit. She wanted to hear how he had managed to get to that point in the first place.

Sabu

One Goblin wanting to go learn how to speak Human, one wanting to learn magic. Well, at least they knew what they were after in life. "Gahaha! Good, it's important you take life by the horns and ride it like a Greater Dragon! Fair warning, though, if it's magic you're after then you'd better hope you've got the aptitude. Most Goblins don't have the talent enough to make a specialty out of it; there's a reason Aya's the only one currently around who we'd call a magic specialist in the tribe." He replied, nodding at the two younglings with a toothy grin. Looking to Kluuto, Sabu nodded contemplatively.

"Language comprehension, eh? That's a useful one. The others are gonna have to learn Human the old fashioned away, unless they feel like buying a Stored Knowledge Matrix and getting themselves in debt." He remarked, pausing for a moment after speaking.

"Right, you won't know what those are. Okay, so, humans are great. Don't get me wrong, Dad, Goblins are cool too, but humans are something else. They've created all sorts of weapons, from swords and spears to these things that fire tiny flaming chunks of metal, to more magic foundations than you cann fill a library with, to libraries, it's amazing. But so, one thing they've put together is this thing called a Stored Knowledge Matrix. You need a magician who's skilled in the Thought Transmutation branch of Alchemy and who's also really really good at runic inscriptions, he takes a jewel and is able to copy some of his knowledge into it."

"Then, by using the jewel, you get the knowledge in it streamed right into your head. See, amazing right? Spells, geography, just about anything can be put into one. They didn't originally have ones for the human language cause why would they, they're humans, but a few human language ones have been getting made since more and more towns are working out alliances with monsters nowadays. Problem is, given the requirements you need to make one, they're super rare and as a result, super expensive. I'd barely be able to afford one if I used all my savings. Also there's the risk of the engraver's personality contaminating your own, but that's never been proven to actually happen, so eh." He explained, shrugging helplessly. A moment later, though, he seemed to realize that he'd gone off on a tangent, slapping his head with his free hand. "Well enough of that. I'll tell you more about cool stuff the humans have worked out later. So, if you wanna check out the human town, I can take you there now I guess. Could use some food. You haven't eaten till you've tried food from a human restaurant, going back to raw meat and veg is just impossible after that. Any of your pals want to come with?"

Sabu

"Not that I know of, no." Kichi replied to Iris, shooting a brief glare at Sabu as he extolled the greatness of human society. This was what he was worried about, his human-phile of a son going and converting the younglings to his way of thinking. Sabu refused to even eat food that didn't use those damn imported human spices anymore. "Only my line has a non-Goblin ancestry we're aware of, and even that was a bit nebulous before Sabu came along and confirmed that it was very much a dragon's bloodline." He explained.

At the next question, his expression grew somewhat complicated. "...Madam Archmage was-...is, rather, the greatest magic-user our tribe has ever produced. She's the oldest member of the tribe, and while I haven't sparred with her since my Evolution, I can still confidently say that she's the strongest member of our tribe by a fair margin. The only magic-user I know of who surpasses her would be humanity's greatest magician, the madman who has managed to equal the might of Knoth and Anekanta's chosen heroes with nothing short of willpower and magical talent. She's off traveling, currently, exploring the world and training herself further. Aya is actually one of her descendants, though there's a few generations separating them."

Kluuto

Kluuto paid attention closely as Sabu answered her question. So it seemed most goblins didn't really have the aptitude for magic. She really hoped she was the exception to that rule. Like she had said before to herself, she didn't feel right going around punching and kicking her enemies instead of taking care of them from a safe distance. Though, if it came to that, she wouldn't hold back at all. She had to survive even if it meant using methods she wasn't comfortable with.

She then heard from him about this Stored Knowledge Matrix thing. It sounded incredibly useful and she would love to get her hands on one, though from what the chief said it seemed to be quite an expensive and rare thing. Still, she put the information on the back of her head just in case she could get one later.

The chief then answered the hazel-eyed goblin's question. As she had though, the ancestries the chief and his son possessed were a rarity on the tribe. So she herself would be a pure-blooded goblin, it's safe to assume. As for the Madam Archmage, apparently she's this really powerful magician who used to belong to their tribe, and that Aya was her descendant. That explained her affinity with magic, she thought. She didn't know anything about her goblin parents yet, but if they didn't really have any magical talent in them, then perhaps she wouldn't have it either.

...Kluuto shrugged the thought out of her mind. She hadn't even tried to learn magic. She wouldn't be able to know if she had what it took or not.

"Y-yes, I would like to come along, please," she replied to Sabu's offer. No sense in rejecting it since she had been planning to go to the humans' dwellings right away.

Golden eyes suggestions of using the pelts and wood harvesting method where probably the best choice and she agreed, it was probably easier than finding a human jobs without being able to speak their language and perhaps was safer than adventuring.

"While we are in the human town could find out what we specifically we want and then how much it, the pelts and the wood are worth so we make sure we bring enough stuff to sell on our next trip. Maybe I can also find out if there’s any types of plants they might wanna buy?"

Though those getting those two resources required tools of their own, but presumably the village did have access to appropriate tools. Licking tress wasn’t exactly telling her ways to make bows, arrows, axes or traps out of them, so hopefully the could borrow or be show how to make those tools.

"Hay Boss, who would be good to talk to if we wanna learn how to hunt? Would that be our parents when they get back?"

She considered the chief's answers her two questions. Dragon's blood and the world's second greatest magician: quite the prestigious bloodlines this tribe had, despite them spawning some of the lowliest monsters. Shame they had none of that, though they did have their gifts so maybe that was the universe/some god making up for their mundane lineage.

Sabu meanwhile was going on and on about humans. Not that the information wasn’t useful but the admiration he showed for them was somewhat uncomfortable, it was obviously because he was really excited but he kind of made her feel like trash for not having been born human. It was an unpleasant experience, even if he didn’t mean it to be. His last comment about getting human food and the state of goblin food did get her to pay particular attention and maybe justified his enthusiasm a bit in her eyes.

"Wait. We don’t cook food?" She said mainly to herself in a small bout of confusion. A whole heap of the plants she had analysed had given her the understanding that the could be cooked to make them either edible or more nutritious. Admittedly she had no idea how or what parts you could cook but it had given her the impression that cooking was what just what you did with food.

"My gift told me some of the plants I got in the forest where edible or better after you cooked em though. so why don't we?"

She had thought of just going straight about the tool situation and getting back to the forest as soon as possible, but now she wanted to know how cooking worked. She was also kinda hungry. If food was being offered who was she to say no, even if there was the whole not liking going back to goblin food problem to worry about.

"I wanna see how to do that, so I’ll come too. Plus the whole tools thing"

She hurried on over to be with Subu, Kluuto and the rest who were going to town.

Lyminia

Though Lyminia silently nodded at what Iris had noted about finding out selling prices, though the plants bit seemed odd to the golden-eyed female. Perhaps related to Iris' Gift? That would seem to be a good guess in her opinion considering her own desire to dig. Yet at the same time Lyminia had also listened to the speaking of the Chief about the matters of this "archmage" of the tribe and such. So many questions to be asked, yet so little time to ask them at the moment it seemed. If she wanted to get out and about into the human settlement, however, Lymnia noted that she needed to get over to where she now saw the others around Sabu and such. Seriously, she was not going to be left behind, unless some people wanted this stick to be shoved where the sun did not shine as punishment for leaving her behind, especially after she had noted her interest in coming to the human town...

"Hey, though the chief told me ya didn't use magic back there, can you bring us to someone in the town who can tell us if we have aptitude for magic or not? I know at least i want to see if i am able to learn magic or not, and maybe some of the others want to know as well for that matter," Lyminia said clearly and directly to Sabu after walking over to the others, her face giving off a serious tone that to her showed she really meant business when asking about getting a chance at learning if she had an aptitude for magic or not, though at the same time was trying to be somewhat polite about the manner as well on a secondary note "By the way, nice badass spar against that human. Wish i could use some similar power, but i guess that wasn't my lot, eh?"

"Gahaha! If it's market pricing you want, then no need to worry, that's all rather well defined. As for magic testing...hm, well there are certainly ways to do that, but all of them will cost money. I suppose I can cover you for this time, consider it a welcoming gift to the tribe!" Sabu replied to the three Goblins who had spoken with a brazen grin, executing the human gesture known as a "thumbs-up", though its meaning would certainly be lost on the lot of them. "Remember to always continue pursuing the peak of power, and before long you too will be capable of feats like my own! More important than talent is hard work, and more important than hard work is luck, so all you need to do is create your own luck!"

It was gradually becoming apparent why Aya didn't seem very fond of the chief's son.

At Iris's question, Kichi looked at her with a trace of confusion before voicing his reply. "For the most part, your instincts should fill in the gaps of knowledge when you're out hunting. You can learn by example, though; we generally hunt in parties to minimize the risk, in case one of the stronger monsters in the forest happens to come along. Though, save for Lord Yggdrasil, I'm proud to say that none of them are stronger than myself." He explained, donning a grin that indicated at least a shard of the family resemblance between himself and his son.

At Iris's next question, though, this expression faltered a bit. "...ah, Sabu can be a bit...overenthusiastic when it comes to humans. Raw food makes up the bulk of our diet simply because it's more efficient for our bodies, but we will occasionally cook things, albeit rarely meat. The humans are...something of spoiled creatures that can only eat food in very particular manners, though. Sabu's taken on some of that, thanks to being with them so often."

Redd was following behind, silent. He did not feel comfortable around other people, as something in his gut told him that they would not accept him if he revealed his true intentions. However, he also needed them. He found Sabu excitement grating, but perhaps useful to get close to him.

He realized that the bugbear and Sabu both had dragon's blood. However, sneaking up on or tricking the bugbear would be much harder. However, it seemed like the goblin had a weakness. He appeared to be egotistical, and seemingly driven by no goal other than to satisfy his own arrogance. Despite being just born, Redd had an intelligence from an unknown source, and he intended on using it.

He casually walked up behind Sabu, and made the remark, "So, you have dragon blood in you? It seems hard to that just a goblin has such regal in them. Are you sure that your legacy isn't just a bed-time story? Though, if you want to prove it. Well, I have a gift. " he said in a very monotone but biting tone.

Kluuto

Kluuto heard Hazel-eyes asking more questions, about how much goods were worth in the human city, how to hunt and why don't the goblins cook food. Now Kluuto was starting to feel annoyed. She just wanted the chit-chat to cease and for them to go to the human city right away. She tapped her foot impatiently with her arms crossed.

Now, the pretty one's question was more to her liking. The way how they would know whether or not they had the aptitude to magic. She certainly would like to learn about that right away. She didn't like having this big thing hanging on her head, making her anxious.

Nice! Sabu would pay for the magic aptitude testing! And she would put his advice to heart so one day she would be able to be that strong as well. The chief then answered hazel-eyes' questions. Hunting should be second nature to all goblins and raw food are more efficient to goblins. Nothing really surprising to her.

Suddenly, a goblin sneaked up on Sabu, and pretty much questioned his talk about him having dragon blood in him. What is this idiot doing, Kluuto thought inwardly. Now he would make the mood of their guide sour and that would be bad for everyone involved, especially her! She just had to put a piece of her mind to him now!

"Hey you, what a disrespectful thing you just said to the chief's son. Apologize!" Kluuto said to him, her face visibly angry.

Lyminia

Lyminia folded her arms for a moment, visibly pleased and donning a small smile on her face at Sabu offering them a "welcome to the tribe" gift in the form of magic testing. If she could learn magic of some kind, that would in her mind give her a leg-up on possible future situations. At least, if magic could help. Better to be prepared than vulnerable, after all. Though as much as the eccentric nature of Sabu about humans, including the unfamiliar and likely human-originated gesture he made towards them, could be understood as to why it could annoy Aya so much, at the same time the golden-eyes Goblin was finding it...well, sorts cute and amusing when it came down to it. While she wouldn't audibly debate about luck factoring in as 'more important' than hard work, it still had its place in things if she had to think logically on the matter. She also felt in agreement that hard work was more important than talent in the end.

"You know, you are just about to become one of my favorite Goblins i've met since i woke up! Lyminia said with an audible and hearty laugh, slapping Sabu once on the back in a visibly playful manner before continuing speaking to the fellow dragon-blooded Goblin, "I can speak for myself at least, though, when i say i'll take you up on getting that magic testing this time around as a gift! Shall we go ahead into town then?"

Though before she could attempt to push the group towards town, emphasis being on "attempt", the strangely red-colored male Goblin (who was not exactly on Lyminia's good side at this point) spoke up about blood and Sabu proving his lineage. This combined with one of the other females piping up about the disrespectful nature of the male's comments and such. And in reality, Lyminia felt herself putting together a theory of sorts about this guy's motives. Red skin. Trying to sneak up on the chief. Pressure to use his gift to "test" Sabu's blood for its legitimacy...

"Oi, blood-sucker for brains, are ya that desperate for a taste of his blood or something?" Lyminia bluntly said, a small frown and disapproving look donning her face as she talked to Redd, "Just wait 'till go hunting or something, and drink it from a rabbit. For now it'd be nice if ya didn't try to drink our guide so at least we can go see the human town!"

She wasn't going to sugar-coat it. Redd was not exactly her favorite Goblin right now with his antics thus far, and she wasn't standing for it. Luckily she still had her sharp branch if the little idiot tried to do anything else strange or the like. Not that she came here to kill a fellow Goblin or anyone else really, but if she had to defend herself or something he Chief had better intervene if Redd gave her the excuse to shove her stick where the sun did not shine. Or into his eyes, if that was necessary in her mind.

Well it was good that the pricing system was going to be simple, and free magic testing was nice. She wasn’t entirely sure why he pointed at the sky after offering that though. She wasn’t entirely sure what he meant by “create your own luck” either, and ended up thinking that luck manipulation was a type of magic.

As for her questions it was good to know that hunting would come naturally, and she would presumably have Golden eyes with her to help and maybe some of the others like the sneaky one who had accompanied them, should cover the strength in numbers bit. As for the cooking bit, it struck her as odd that her gift would suggest cooking so much if it was less effective for them, almost as if it was made with humans in mind. Kluuto’s gift was also geared towards humans as it gave her the ability to communicate with them. All this was rather odd.

Moving on from that there was the sneaky one who had apparently pissed of their two serious goblins with his rather odd disbelief of Sabu’s ancestry. The guy had scales and was previously on fire, that looked pretty dragony to her. She was not however going to jump on their being mad at him bandwagon. She was pretty sure Sabu could protect himself from their fellow newborn without the others’ help. At this point she just wanted to be off to town so they could move on from those two fawning over their senpai.

"How bout we leave him be and get going? I'm sure Sabu can protect hims own honer from an ankle biter like us"

Sabu

"Hm?" It seemed that one of the younglings was doubting his illustrious ancestry. Well, he would humor the child a bit, then. The prospect of showing off a bit more certainly wasn't something he was about to complain about.

"Gahaha! You must not have been paying attention during my bout with the General, eh?" Sabu remarked with a brazen laugh, indicating the human woman who had been nearby only to realize that she had already left to head back to the human town. Shrugging off the momentary lapse, he continued on, not seeming to even acknowledge the newborn's mention of his own Gift. Why would he do anything involving that when he had a much better-looking method at his disposal?

"Well, I suppose I can give a more involved demonstration. I don't usually employ this sort of thing in combat since it takes a bit too long to prepare for my taste, and the efficiency of it's much lower compared to what you saw earlier, but I can always use it as a little demonstration. Ah, you should probably take a few steps back, though."

"Explode, Potential Release."

After speaking, that same red fog started to emanate from Sabu's body, his muscles tensing. The air around him grew thick with a form of power far distinct from the faint air of the forest's Lord that permeated his domain. For a moment, the Goblin's eyes changed, a glint entering them that was removed from his prior demeanor, one of a tyrannical indifference that faded as soon as it had appeared.

Space bent. That silhouette that had taken shape behind him during the earlier spar once more appeared, but this time its shape was less hazy. Its immaterial form was made visible through the red fog, scales glinting and a hundred heads writhing. With its appearance, with its roar that shook the air, a "pressure" that was practically palpable manifested. It was not mere physical force, no, it was something beyond that. An attack on the soul, the force of subjugation, the nature of the "king of beasts" that demanded the subordination of all those before it. A speck in the hand of a bodhisattva, a mortal staring into the depths of an eyeless god, it was a tyrannical power that could tautologically be called nothing but tyrannical.

If Redd had not, in fact, chosen to step away from Sabu then he would have been forced to his knees by the pressure, bones creaking under the strain as the very act of thought became momentarily impossible. The others would not be nearly so affected, but would nearly be paralyzed; merely breathing felt like an ordeal, and attempting to move even slightly would be almost impossible without putting their all into it. Even the chief seemed to be affected in some regard, albeit not nearly as much.

And just as quickly as the image had appeared, it vanished, the pressure lifting and the red fog receding back into Sabu's body.

"Gahaha! Quite impressive for a 'bed-time story', no?"

At this point, his grin could be said to have adopted qualities that those of another world would likely call "shit-eating".

Rekzild

After his initial compliment made towards both Sabu and the human woman Rekzild had fallen silent for a time. In an action that was clearly developing into a habit he wandered a little way off, setting himself against a tree as he took in what had been said, and the bits of conversation that were still able to reach him. For many it would be overwhelming, or one would think at the very least, yet him and his fellow newborns all seemed to be catching onto everything that was spoken without much issue. Even the strange blood hungry kin of his possessed a startling ability to understand all of the things that had transpired. Was this something typical among goblin kind, or was there something exceptional about their batch?

He lifted his head for a moment, cocking it to the side when he heard mention of preparing to depart to the human city in a short amount of time. This was welcomed information, though it would seem that the others had more questions that required answers before they could depart. Unsure how long this portion would take Rekzild rose from his position against the trunk of the ironwood tree and made his way back to the chief’s side, who had been largely abandoned by the others. Stopping at his side he looked out towards the ones interacting with his son, buzzing around him with millions of questions that they fired off at a rapid pace.

Throughout all of their questions most didn’t pertain to him. He had no interest in learning magic, nor discovering if he was capable of it, he had received the name of the location he could find books already as well as an explanation on how to acquire tools to write his own, and he certainly wasn’t interested in making the chieftain’s son prove his lineage. The only thing mentioned that he found truly interesting was the Stored Knowledge Matrix. Such a device would prove immensely useful, if he did not have to rely on others to translate for him he could successfully manage himself on his own.

Before he could take another action he was taken back by Sabu unleashing his power in a more vibrant display. Rekzild could barely draw air into his body, but fortunately the display was short lived as it vanished almost as soon as it had appeared and he could breathe once more. Inhaling a couple of times he walked back towards the chief’s son, head tilted back to look up at him.

”If you are willing to help them acquire magical testing would you help cover part of the cost of a Stored Knowledge Matrix for me? I know you said it is ridiculously expensive so I wouldn’t expect you to cover the entire cost, I will accept the debt and work it off, but assistance would be greatly appreciated sir.”
