Earth. After several months of travel, it was finally in sight. For most of the gems aboard your ship, this place has always been an ominous mystery. The one thing you know of the planet before you for sure is that something unspeakable happened here thousands of years ago, a tragedy unparalleled before or since: the death of possibly the most beloved of the four diamonds, Pink Diamond. You probably aren't terribly well-informed on most of the specifics of the war that led up to her death, aside from important names like the reviled Rose Quartz, but that fact alone is more than enough to earn this planet its vile reputation among gems. You were sent here as part of a reconnaissance team to run diagnostics on a geoweapon unlike anything Homeworld has used before, the Cluster. Upon landing, your orders are to use the equipment provided to reach the Earth's core and see that it has been developing as expected, then quickly leave before it emerges. If all goes according to plan, this weapon will finally remove Earth from existence.

Unfortunately, your mission is currently decidedly not going according to plan. Either due to an undetected bug with the ship's programming or a navigational error, your pilot lost control of the ship shortly after you entered its orbit and you are presently heading toward the Earth's surface at an alarming rate. A computerized voice sounds over the ship's comm system. Warning: Gravity resistance systems offline. Prepare for impact. An awful rumbling noise can be heard as your ship begins to catch fire in the planet's lower atmosphere, you are approaching the ground at speeds capable of damaging a gem.

The Chromite who had been sent as protection for the scientist gems began to panic. "E-everybody remember your training! Duck and cover!" Damn, was it 'duck and cover' or 'hit the deck?' I'm probably not qualified for this! "Howlite, is there anything you can do? It would be best if we landed on wet ground!" Chromite, of course, was aware that Howlite already knew this and was probably already in the process of trying to regain control of the ship, but in this situation she needed to be absolutely sure. Being that she was designed to take heavy amounts of damage, Chromite wasn't terribly afraid of what the impact would do to her, but she was terrified of the idea of losing any of the gems that she had been sent there to protect. Chromite struggled to stand against the force of Earth's pull as she summoned her shield and placed it on the floor of the ship, motioning for any nearby gem to come and hide under it. Hopefully, that would be enough to prevent any of them from being poofed or worse. Chromite then took her own advice and crouched down with her hands over her head.

Moonstone/Pearl

Before Pearl even boarded her ship, she had done her best to research Earth as best as she could, just as she researched Moonstones before she made herself a Moonstone. Unfortunately, the information she pulled up was the same as what everyone on the ship already knew. Thankfully nobody on the ship suspected that she was a Pearl...except for a certain Larimar. She kind of avoided him for the entirety of this trip. She was able to keep the illusion and shapeshifting up. It wasn't that hard.

She stood at attention as the ship approached Earth. Unfortunately, things started to go wrong and the ship was starting to make a crash course towards Earth. Pearl, or rather Moonstone, was also there to protect the scientist gems. She called out to the other gems after Chromite gave the order to Duck and Cover, "Hit the Deck AND Duck and Cover! Hurry!" Pearl immediately had her buckler out and over her head. As soon as Chromite summoned her shield (which was larger than the buckler) Pearl immediately headed for under the shield, while grabbing and towing two of the smaller scientist gems with her to underneath it. After that, she raised her own buckler shield again in order to help protect them from any spot that Chromite's shield might not have been able to cover.

Howlite

When the mission started Howlite was on top of the world with joy at being trusted with this mission. Her own ship! It was an honor for any gem to be trusted with one of Homeworld's vessels and for the duration of the mission it’s maintenance and piloting where all down to her. If she didn’t screw this up maybe she would get to keep it after she finished transporting the scientists and their cohort of troops to and from Earth.

It was about 30 seconds before the alarms started that Howlite knew she fucked up.

She was in the middle of the main control room of the ship, standing motionless and plugged into control console with her mechanical limbs. It was an old ship, and she was sure she had thoroughly checked through everything before they set off, but apparently the ship’s anti-grav was even more antiquated than she had initially thought. After millennia of work it just couldn't handle the type of approach she had plotted and as a result had overheated from the strain of stopping them from plunging down the gravity well. As it was they were currently plummeting into the atmosphere uncontrollably as Howlite tried to get the ship to restart the anti-grav system, the maintenance drones of the ship dumping foam over the red hot system to try and cool it down.

It was once her attempts to salvage the descent into anything remotely looking like a normal landing that she let the alarms through and panic spread throughout the ship. She was so going to be shattered for this. She was in the middle of dramatically going down with her ship when Chromite, one of the soldiers, broke her from her self pity by shouting at everyone.

"Howlite, is there anything you can do? It would be best if we landed on wet ground!"

It was kind of inspiring to see her and Moonstone the try to protect the others with their shields, as if they could simply parry the planet towards which they were falling. It reminded her that she couldn’t let them all die from her incompetence. She responded with as much confidence as she could muster.

Working on it! The earth has lots of water, if I angle the Ship right we can splash down instead of smash down!

That and try to cool the anti-grav down for one last push. There was little chance of that while they roared through the upper atmosphere, the hull super-heating from reentry but once they had started to decelerate she finally managed to cool it down enough with all the remaining foam to use it to change their descend from a steep plummet to a more horizontal glide. They still had way too much momentum and the reactor explode about halfway through the maneuver, but they were going to make it, though there wouldn’t be much ship left after this.

Hold on to something and brace for impact! make sure you protect your gem!

Ivy had been distracting herself with her psammokinesis before the ship encountered problems. She had seen Earth in the distance, wide-eyed in awe at how it appeared. It was much better than she could have imagined, but it lacked the design that a lot of homeworld colonies had. From what she could gather before leaving, along with discussing it with the other gems here, this used to be a colony, right? It made her question what went wrong, how a diamond could have been shattered here. And the one gem who did it, a 'Rose Quartz', were they still around? Ivy laughed a little to herself, shaking her head at such a question. Of course she wasn't, the Diamonds must have felt that this place wasn't worthy to be a gem colony, right? Or maybe that it was too much hassle.

Regardless of why this planet was still around, and despite the appearance of it, Ivy shrugged at the possibilities, regenerating sand from her gem to create several small spheres before having them spin in a circle above her hand until it hit her. The entire reason they were there was because of the cluster, so obviously that was the answer as to why Earth existed still.

It was then that the group entered the atmosphere and the ship began to malfunction in some manner, causing Ivory to instinctively generate enough sand to envelop her feet so that she stayed in place. Problems already? But they hadn't even touched down yet! She turned to their leader, who immediately shouted "E-everybody remember your training! Duck and cover!" before generating a shield, which was then followed by the moonstone assisting them. How smart! She wasn't sure if that'd be helpful, but it didn't seem like they had any other options at the moment. She shifted over to them, maintaining her supports on her feet when she arrived. If only there were more sand on the ship, she could have created something like a sand barrier or bubble to protect everyone in. But it seemed she'd have to rely on those designated to protect them for that.

Not to say Ivory couldn't handle herself, she was a gem designed for traversing unknown planets and territory, but it was reassuring to know they'd be accompanied by gems made for protection. And if they crashed down and were alright, Ivy vowed she'd find the way to the Cluster...

Today was the day for Pyrite, the day that she goes with her assigned team to the fabled planet, Earth. She always wanted to learn more about the groundbreaking war between homeworld and the rebel gems. From the leader, one Rose Quartz, shattering one of the diamond authority to the victories and different shattered gems. Now, she was finally gonna be able to see the battlefield for herself! As she got in line with the others, Pyrite tried to contain her excitement and focus on doing what she could. Possibly she could collect some Earth treasure while there.

Several months had passed..

The ship finally reached the mysterious blue planet. Pyrite has been assisting the rest of the crew, mostly helping Howlite with piloting. Before she knew it, the ship started to malfunction. She adjusted herself to prevent herself from hitting the ground in reflex. The leader, Chromite and Moonstone had raised two shields for the crew to huddle under. Seeing and hoping that the pilot had the situation under control, Goldie took cover herself, hugging her knees and wishing for a safe landing.

So far, she wasn't having as much fun as she thought right now.

Marry

Earth, a planet that was only talked about with disdain. Apparently a Rose Quartz had gone rogue and done some unspeakable act, leading to a bit of an overreaction on the Diamond's behalf. Either way, the planet looked much different than Homeworld, and while their mission was to inspect The Cluster, more things could be awaiting on this planet.

Moldsvite, or Marry as she preferred to be called because 'Moldy' sounded disgusting, was one of the lead scientist gems sent on this mission. While the Cluster was the main experiment to check on, Marry was a bit interested in the strange ecosystem on the blue planet below. Before she could get into deep thought, alarms sounded as the ship started to lose control. "Howlite, whats going on over there?" Marry said.

Much like their training had dictated, both Chromite and Moonstone were up and ready to protect whatever gems they could. Not wasting much time, Marry conjured her own tower shield and glided gracefully to hid beneath the pair. "My My! Onto a new planet and already things are going poorly! Might be more to those stories than we thought." Marry said with a slight chuckle. Howlite was at least trying to mitigate the crash forces all the gems would be experiencing.

It was her big break to finally be layed off the team with Prima. She couldn't stand how snobby the other Astrophilite was, and thanked the diamonds to be off that team. Who cared if Prima was the oldest in the group? That Astro herself was the youngest? That Astro was fundementally the weakest, and more unacceptable to shattering? Who cared! They were going to a planet that was abandoned by Homeworld. Nonetheless, the was going with a group that was composed of several different types of gems! How unusual!

It was her time to shine, and no time better than when everything was falling apart with the gravitational resistance. They were now plummeting into the earth, what fun!

She moved power to her EM field manipulation, keeping herself planted to the floor of the ship. It was the one thing that she was good at, and her complete mastery of the power at such a young age is what put her on the team with Prima in the first place.

It wouldn't be enough, she told herself. "I can protect us, but you need to be close!" she called out to the other gems in the ship. It might just barely be enough to save their gems, especially her own. She hated how weak and fragile she was, always having to actively use her fields to protect her gem from coming in contact with other things. Even her fusion with the other Astrophylites resorted power to her gem specifically.

Now, though, was her time to shine.

After seven grueling months of space travel, PT finally gazed upon the planet that was the objective of her first mission from Homeworld. She still questioned why she out of all gems was picked to join a reconnaissance party to this strange frontier planet, but she wasn't going to bother questioning her orders. The sooner she finished this mission the sooner she could return to the archives back on homeworld and her fellow tourmalines. Being disconnected from the others for so long had made her a little antsy, but she had gotten used to it over the seven month trip to this strange dirtball. Besides, this would be nothing more than a simple mission at worst: Go in, find any and all information regarding ‘The Cluster’, get out and return the information back to homeworld. PT considered she might even get a higher level of access within the archive if everything went smooth enough and she brought back enough significant information.

The one thing that bugged her the most out of all this was what exactly happened on this planet so long ago to make it so significant. She had tried discussing the topic in the archive and she was only meet with a flurry of quiet murmurs and whispers quickly taken care of by the elder gems in the area. All she gathered from the chatter was that the names Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz were the center of the conversation before they were silenced. She hoped to uncover something about these two while documenting any information that was found regarding the cluster.

This was the least of her concerns seeing as how the ship had turned into a molten fireball and is about to crash down into the planet at any moment. The constant shaking and rattling of the ship threw the small gem down onto her knees as she clung to the closest thing to keep from being thrown around. She heard Chromite calling out "Everybody remember your training! Duck and cover!" as she tried to make her way over to the bunker of shields the other gems were forming before impact. She was rather glad that the Moonstone managed to grab her and pull her over to the group before anything could get worse. She felt rather useless at the moment as all she could really do was clutch the gem in her chest and hope for the best.

Larimar

Once Larimar heard Chromite speak and say something along the lines of duck and cover or hit the deck, he quickly forms a little transparent bubble and tightly grabs onto the squishy puff knowing that they float before looking back and sending one to the other gems so they wouldn't sink to the ocean floor. he looked around once the ship once more making sure everyone had a bubble by them for safety. "Hold onto these if needed, they should be strong enough to keep you afloat if you do impact with the water but if it goes for the worse, then use them to has something to break your fall if we collide with the planet's surface," Larimar instructions him in a soft and kind manner, " Chromite once we land permission to scout the surface for somewhere safe and hidden from all lifeforms to temporarily set up camp and start our work?"

Larimar looked around the ship studying everyone trying to figure out nicknames for them based on their appearance since he already knows one of the gems on here who is a close friend of his, who he was sitting adjacent to on the ship and nicknamed her Moon. He first met her a while back though at that time she was Pearl not Moonstone, either way, it doesn't matter to him. he is just ready to land and see the surface again.

The surface... Those words just started spinning around his head after he started thinking about it though he has been to many planets with his noble and they were all so different from each other which only makes him even more curious to see what this planet's surface would like or even if it does have a surface. What if this planet doesn't have land?! he thinks to himself starting to slightly panic because that would mean he would have no idea what to do and be forced to use his abilities to be able to be his mission correctly.

Chyrosparse

Chyrosparse was filled to the brim with excitement for their new assignment. After years of stupid assignments like guarding a door or doing routine analysis work on some of the core homeworld planets he finally had a shot at putting his name in the logs, to be a member of a group to check up on a homeworld geoweapon of massive proportions. It was really an honour for the young gem.

What Sparse didn't know is how boring the ride there would be. Most of the other gems seemed a little stuck up from what Sparse could gather but in all honesty she didn't care. She just wanted to do something noteworthy enough to get at least mentioned by some of her higher ups. That opportunity would soon reveal itself as the ship began to rumble and plummet towards the blue and green planet.

While most of the gems hunkered down, Sparse ran to look out one of the ships windows and look at the real image of the planet quickly getting closer and closer.

"This isn't looking good~!" he said with a slight melody to their voice which betrayed their excitement of the situation.

The ship continued to plummet towards Earth, now slowed due to Howlite's efforts. The antigravity system kicked back on for a brief moment but ultimately became non-functional. Now that the ship was in a vertical as opposed to horizontal position, the wind resistance also helped slow its descent.

Chromite was very relieved to see that there was another reliable defender in the form of Moonstone, who had managed to pull Paraiba Tourmaline to safety, and that the other gems on board were generally responsive to her order to seek cover. Ivory was one of the better positioned gems being stuck to the floor with her sand. Pyrite, too, helped assure Chromite with her quick response.

I'm terribly sorry, head scientist Moldsvite. Something must have gone wrong with the ship. Please try and stay safe under your shield until we reach the ground. Chromite said.

If Chromite had a heart it probably would have skipped a beat at seeing Chryosparse looking out the window with no apparent regard for the imminent danger. "Chryosparae, what in the universe are you doing?! Astro, Larimar, please focus your attention on protecting them if you can! I can answer any questions you have later!.

With any luck the two gems who had offered to use their abilities to help others would be able to act quickly, because the ship crashed about four seconds after she had made her request. Thankfully Howlite had managed to direct them into a marshy area. They landed with a great SPLOOSH and the ship simultaneously made waves and left a sizeable crater. The force was reduced enough that even the softer gems on board weren't in danger of any permanent damage, but the force threw Chromite upwards so hard that her tough body became embedded into the ship's ceiling.

After it was all over, Chromite spoke over the sound of the electrical currents of loose wires and a small fire that had started. Everyone, status report! Are any of you injured? Can... can anyone help me down?

Howlite

I have everything perfectly under control!” she shouted in response to Marry as she tried to find somewhere to land. She was made a lair a few moments later when one of the reactors could be heard exploding somewhere behind them.

She had been aiming for the ocean, but they overshot that by a few kilometers. So she aimed for a lake, but they missed that too. In the end the ship was aimed to land in a bog. She hoped it would be enough.

The skys above the swamp where lit up as the vessel hurtled towards the ground, like the burning vengeful fist of an angry god it descended, barely missing a rocky formation. It plunged into the mud at a shallow angle, punching through the muck before coming to a stop in the crater it had created, a trail of destruction left in it’s wake. The surrounding area was then showered by burning bits of debris that had broken off of the ship during reentry.

Inside Howlite’s connection to the ship left he rattled about a bit, but more or less intact. She shook her head to clear it, temporarily shut out from her mind the million problems the ship was screaming at her about and raised her tiny arms up in triumph.

”Wooo! Kiss my butt gravity! We are alive!”

It was at this point that she became aware of most of the more local problems with the ship, namely the fact that it was, in places, on fire and also there was a gem embedded in the ceiling requesting a status update. Ah. She went through and systematically shut down all the alarms, got the 2 remaining drones to start putting fires out in the back of the ship and collected her thoughts before reporting:

”Status of the ship: We are basically never getting this thing off the ground again unless we find replacements or components for basically every system. Anti gravity is completely fried, the 2 main reactors melted down, the hull is full of holes, communications, navigation and ftl got cooked along with the reactors. Basicly the only thing we have left is reserve power, which is why the lights are still on and, remarkably, whatever it was was in the cargo hold.”

She finished, then added nonchalantly.

”oh, and I’m fine too.”

They were alive.

Goldie couldn't comprehend what just happend, but they were alive! She slowly stood herself up, shooken from the landing. "Hah...hahahahaha...yAHAHAHAHAHAAAAR!" Pyrite laughed in joy, "We made it!" she tightly hugged the nearest gem by her. She turned her atention to howlite's status on the ship. Pyrite thought for a second before replying, "Hm, gravity must be that strong. I did hear that the beings who reside here on Earth have their own aircrafts. If we could somehow get our hands on ones parts, would that be a suitable substitue?"

Pyrite's eyes crept over to look over the damages and took notice of the small fire, she then used her pyrokinesis to collect the flame and morph it into a small ball. "Jackpot. Now, how are we gonn-." she started to say before double taking Chromite stuck on the roof. Goldie snorted before reaching up for her. "Haha, hold on captain, this might take a bit."

Moonstone/Pearl

Pearl easily noticed the bubble that Larimar had summoned by the other gems, and she only gave him a brief glance before turning her attention to the Chyrosparse who had foolishly gone up to the window! She gaped and she called "Chryosparse! Get away from there, NOW! It's dangerous!" They heard the gem's statement and she couldn't help but wonder if that gem had lost their marbles. After a jolt and the coming heat, Pearl was reminded of the situation and she braced herself, remembering the simulations and training. She called to everyone as the ship crashed "Brace yourself everyone! Impact in 3...2.....1...!"

Sure enough, the impact came, and Pearl stood her ground, or rather kneeled, and protected Paraiba Tourmaline and her gem from the impact.

Once they had landed, Pearl stood up and answered Chromite "We're fine here!" before she surveyed the area. There was water...the ship was in shambles, and on fire. Howlite and Pyrite were laughing. Well, that was to be expected. This could've been a near death situation for the non-fighting gems. She looked up to see Chromite was stuck in the ceiling. After Pyrite had taken care of the fire, she started reaching for Chromite. With a simple roll of her eyes, Pearl simply jumped, using Pyrite's shoulders as a boost, to reach Chromite. She used the sword she had to cut at the weakest parts of the metal with great precision and speed, while taking care to not hurt or poof Chromite. After she landed she looked to Chromite and she stated "You should be able to pull yourself out now. But be careful not to hurt yourself!"

After hearing Hoplite's analysis of the ship's status, Pearl called out, "We can't stay in here. Who knows when this ship is going to collapse on us again? We need to move now,"

Everything wasn't going super well, or very well depending on your outlook on things. Various gems were doing their own thing to defend themselves as the ship went down. Thankfully Howlite was able to crash the ship in a nice remote soft area. Sure it wasn't the ocean like she was aiming for, but that was fine. At least everyone was fairly ok when the ship finally landed, even if most of them sort of lost their footing as they crashed.

"Well thats good. No one got broken." Marry said, looking over the other gems. So far it looked most were ok, or excited that they survived. Though it was humerus that Chromite was stuck in the roof of the ship after all that had happened. Howlite gave a report on the condition of the ship, and Pyrite suggested that the native lifeforms of the planet might have parts the gems could use.

"Sorry to shoot you down there Pyrite, but I doubt their technology is compatible with ours." Marry said, analyzing all the stuff Howlite was saying as she glided to the side of the ship and opened a portal tunnel to outside of it. "Well ladies, this planet was the site of a gem war back in the day. Maybe some ancient tech could be salvaged. We should at least find a base, doubt you all want to be out in the elements. This isn't a gem world after all." Marry said, moving through her own portal gesturing to the others to come on through.

Larimar

Once the ship crashed Larimar shot out of a window that broke causing him to be unconscious and his bubbles to burst sending a small boom to occur. He slowly sank to the bottom of the bleach floor which was about 30 feet bellow and at least 10 feet away from the crash. Larimar laid there so a bit before waking up and shootong to the surface and frantically looking around for anyone.

"I'm okay... I think.... a little discombobulated and lost at the moment." Larimar says has he floats at the surface before summoning one of his thoughts to be a platform and climbs up on it and looks around, "there should be an old temple over there.
The technology would probably be pretty basic but we cpuld fix it. And intigratr some of our own using the stuff can salvage from the ship."

He softly sighs before making himself a pathway to the shore line. Once finished hie walked acrossed it making sure that the ones behind him wouls disappear. He when looks around the group and points in the direction of the temple that he mentioned has hus eyesight enchancer focuses on it.

Chromite carefully pried herself down from the ceiling and gave a nod of approval to the two who had helped her. Pyrite, Moonstone. Thank you, that situation was less than becoming. Now, let's see what we can do. Chromite first approached Howlite. I appreciate you getting us here safely, Howlite. Try not to feel too bad about the ship. The maintenance Peridots should have known to double-check for something as important as an antigravity system that needed replacing, and would it have killed Sagenite to simply outfit us with a newer ship? Chromite reassured.

The ship likely sent out an automated distress signal during our descent, and as of now that's probably our best chance of leaving this planet, as any gem technology left here probably isn't compatible with current technology, as old as this ship is. I have no idea when the signal will reach Homeworld however. For the time being, we should probably focus on the mission at hand." Chromite said in response to Marry's suggestion.

Chromite climbed out of the ship and surveyed the area around it. Muck was seeping into the hole, and was beginning to bury the ship. Which at this point appears to be salvaging everything we can from the ship before it sinks! Everyone, please help me if you can. There may still be some equipment we can use inside, but most importantly we need to save the drill, we won't be able to complete our mission without it. Chrysoprase, you're the strongest, please stand at the top of this crater and wait for the rest of us to hoist it up."

It was all too fast. She had gotten the command from Chromite to continue doing what she was doing in order to protect herself and those around her. She grunted, forcing her limited EM field to extend just a little further to envelop those closes to her. She couldn't get out a worded response before they made impact.

She didn't lose consciousness, per say, but there was an obvious gap between the recalled moment of impact and when she opened her eyes again to the rubble of the ship. Chromite was asking for assistance to be set down onto the ground. Moonstone and Pyrite had helped her down while Astro was too busy with checking herself for any marks in her gem. She was obviously alive, a miracle itself, but to have crashed with such a delicate gem and not have a single mark? That was either very lucky, or a glimpse into the full power of and Astrophyllite.

Astro saluted at Chromite's next command and got to work. Using her fields on her feet, she was able to walk on just about any surface on the ship. She could also attract objects a small distance away, granted that they were light enough, and began to run through the ship to pick up whatever little important odds and ends were available. The ship was sinking into the marshy waters below, and she didn't have a whole lot of time before it would eventually eat the ship up.

Howlite

It looked like they hadn’t lost anyone. That was good. She wasn’t sure how she would have handled the guilt of having hurt one of the others with the crash. Chromite assured her that the crash was not her fault, Howlite was not so sure that those who had assigned them the mission would see it that way. Still, that was a problem for later.

”Alright, those of you helping with the drill, come with me. As for anyone who isn’t made for heavy lifting, it would be helpful if you could go out and find us some dry land where we can unload stuff onto”

With that she hurried over to the door, opened it, closed it again, went and got the gem equivalent of a fire extinguisher, opened the door again and then slowly cleared a path through the partially burning corridor to the cargo hold.

Inside was the drill and a bunch of other equipment of lesser importance. She touched one of her mechanical limbs to the wall and made the ship open the doors at one end of the hold, revealing the marshy outsides and just how close the ship was to sinking into the muck. At this point they were joined by the two remaining drones the ship had, things that looked like a hybrid between a spider and a tow truck. One began loading the various other equipment onto itself while the other Howlite climbed on top of and got to carefully grab one end of the drill.

”If you could grab the other end and lift it we can get moving.” she called to anyone who had come with her

Hearing all the plans and suggestions everyone was making, Marry figured that they weren't going to go digging for this ship later or carry it out of their landing zone. "Well then, if its a base we need, I'll be back." Marry said, poking her head through the portal hole she had made. "I'll place as big of a portal as I can on the ground outside here and fly around to find some place more... stable. Be careful!" Marry said.

Flying outside the ship, Marry closed her doorway portals and after concentrating for a bit, fired a portal on what looked liked a island of earth. She wasn't sure if it was big enough to accommodate the drill, but worse comes to worse there were always some kindergartner drills they could probably use. After all, Earth was once supposed to be a gem colony before it became as unmentionable as it is.

Either way, it was nice being a gem that could fly. Sure it was slow and more of a slow glide than what the gems with wings could do, but it was still a nice feeling being unbound from the ground. Once Marry made her way past the treeline and was in the open sky, she started to scan for a good place to fire her next portal as she rose. Not finding one, she decided to just fire a portal at a nearby mountain peak and use that for a better vantage point.

Dropping and going into the portal she had made on the ground, she appeared over the mountain she had fired her previous portal at, the fast cold mountain winds leaking through the portal and scaring most of the wildlife that had gotten curious at the shining light screen that had previously been there. On top of this mountain, Marry could get a much better view of the land, and found a nice clearing at the base of a rocky cliff, and lights nearby! That last bit was kinda strange, but then humans could talk if the rumors were true, so it only was logical that they could make a society. Actually that was quite an interesting thought, a society of humans that could produce lights, Maybe they could have tech that'd at least be serviceable to a spaceship? Or at least have the ability to produce some of the damaged tech. Marry didn't think for too long on this, readjusted her current portal to aim at the space she was eyeing for a base, and went back through.

Around this time the other gems had done a good lot of work on salvaging the ship. And with some precise aim through her first portal in the swamp, Marry got a portal at a nice area with some varied defensible terrain with a human settlement nearby. Of course even with that work done, it would be up to the group if they wanted this spot or if Marry should look for a different one.

"So ladies, hows the ship coming along? I found a decent spot to camp out. Not sure if there is any gem temple nearby, but at least theres no fear of stuff sinking. Oh, and did you know the humans have society now with lights and everything?"
