@SleepingSilence Its a bad meme in your subjective opinion, but luckily, meme quality isn't based on 'how well sleeping silence receives it', so nothing more has to be said there.

Down the thread there was talks of Resident Evil 4, I already know Resi7 is set in the deep south, thats why I didn't bother mentioning it. And fine, I think confused Outlast 1 with 2.

But even if all 4 of those games were all redneck murdering simulators, the number of games which feature right wing christian hillbillies as enemies is still very small comparatively. Therefore there isn't a left wing double standard against straight white christian males in video games.

This is literally all I've been saying over and over again, but I know you really don't like agreeing with me, so you're posting escapist links that add nothing to the argument.

But I agree, lets kill it there (even though I don't think you will for some reason.....)

*Sighs* Ya, know if you're like trying to bait me into anger or something. I just kind of feel exhausted. Though just waking up probably adds to that. :I

My own quote from mere sentences ago...

I wasn't turning this into an argument. ;3

Just seemed a bit touchy, since it wasn't part of my point. But I agree.

@Dynamo Frokane First, be less personally bitchy please. We just went over this, you just apologized for doing it. I know the whole, won't go after you if you don't after me, wasn't exactly akin to a blood oath. But it did last longer than less than a quarter of a single day. :P

The discussion were dropping was about fictional enemies and if one could be considered old news or possibly a trend people were following. Not 'does the left wing have double standard in video games'. And that's miles and miles long, and I'm pretty sure not even you aren't aware of it. But I won't make unfair assumptions. I also have absolutely no idea how the straight cis part fits into anything.

But I sort of don't trust you'll keep a discussion non-personal. Sorry. <.< So I'll just agree to disagree right off the bat and hope I'm not further disappointed.

No it shit like this that is bitchy, catty and passive aggressive, but you're still waking up, so have a coffee and use that time to reflect on these pointless comments in your discussions.

:P <<See look I'm using a toungeface emoticon, so you cant get offended!

@Dynamo Frokane It's literally tongue in cheek...Did an emoji sell you a crappy car once? Do you not know what emoji's are suppose to do?

...If I say.

I had a great day. :D

and

I had a great day. >.>

Would you assume both are the same? Somehow one or both are stealing candy from babies? Or maybe that one is pleasant and the other is sarcasm...

The tounge. Refers to...dear lord I'm explaining emoji's to an adult.

An emoticon generally meant to look like a face with a tongue hanging out. like other emoticons/smileys, it's frequently used in IM conversations, forum posts text messages, etc., especially by younger people. It usually signifies one of the following:

1. Somewhat sheepish (but good-humored) acknowledgment of (usually one's own) silliness, foolishness, absentmindedness, or ineptness. While often used to reflect one's own state, it is also used in reference to others or situations.

It's not like I don't add them for their intended effect...Imagine if I -didn't- add that ":P"...

You weren't reading well.

Sounds more blunt and matter of fact. Frankly, sounds worse when you don't add the playfulness to it.

But without that, you're saying you wouldn't still cry about shit? I highly doubt it. When you fail to ever blame yourself with any hint of genuine reflection and just want to start shit flinging contents. 1. Trust me, I have more dirt. You'd lose. 2. Fucking grow up.

Ha ha my goodness this 'hit piece' NBC news put on their youtube account is hilariously bad[decent editing though]. How Gamers Are Facilitating The Rise Of The Alt-Right. That's right guys, discord and all those gamers are the true problem...:P

Just thought it appropriate since the topic is in game territory right now.

@SleepingSilence Sounds like you're having a wonderful day.

Your use of the emoticon isn't as deeply offensive as it is passive aggressive and kind of stupid. But you've been doing it so much, I think there isn't much use asking you or telling you to stop, but I'm still going to bring it up.

And yes I was reading just fine, you dropped that insult in because you thought I missed the part about Resident Evil 7, but I told you I DID see it but didn't bother mentioning it because acknowledging that game had rednecks did nothing to go against my point.
No amount of good humored toungeface emotions make that any less of an insult, you were simply wrong about me not reading well, accept it.

But refrain using analogies about the deaths of my families and/or mother, its unnecessary. I'm only going to ask once.

NBC did a horrible job of presenting a real issue.

Theyve made too many broad strokes, and attacking discord is a stupid, its just another platform and it can be used however the people in question want to.

However there is a point here amongst all of misrepresentation and poor research, one that is something kind of unspoken and that is that gamergate has been a gateway drug to more nefarious groups sometimes.

Just stick with me on this train of thought:

Gamergate was HUGE and it was the first really major political movement for a lot of young male gamers since the jack thompson days. And just like with Jack Thompson, they rose up against attacks on their medium and the politics which seemed to be doing no good for the games or the consumers.

A large majority of Gamergaters were just regular people who didn't like the actions of Kotaku and Anita in the wake of a few different scandals. Politically they were across the board, it wasn't a right wing or a left wing movement it was an apolitical advocacy movement.

But what cant be ignored is that along the way a section of the gamergate movement got tied up with the anti-feminist movement, which of course overlaps with the Men's Rights Movement. Still a small percentage mind you, not even most gamergaters support Roosh V and his dangerous rhetoric but there was some overlap. This is also where Milo became famous outside of England, and some of the original GG crowd overlapped with him.

Now what I'm saying here is fraction of GG got with the MRA movement and then a good chunk of that MRA movement got with the anti-SJW movement and then that anti-SJW anti-Feminist movement, got with a general anti-leftism movement. So this is small fraction but the breadcrumb trail is fairly clear. Now at some point the alt-right got involved with MRA and Youtube skeptic community, and were able to bolster their numbers with angry newly politicized young men who not only hated feminism but now a large swath of what the left represents in general. So fast forward to today, there is a fraction of ex-gamergaters who got lead down a trail of internet movmments that eventually lead them to the alt-right.

HOWEVER

Stormfront has been around for AGES and there was no shortage of young people on there when I would occasionally lurk back in 05-06. So I think what most people are missing is that the LARGE majority of Alt-Right tiki torch crowd were already white nationalists and were just wait for a new energised movement as a springboard before showing their faces. This is what everyone including NBCis missing about the Alt-Right, investigate Stormfront, not Gamergate.

Not quite as lovable as you are, Andy.

Your initial argument still doesn't hold any weight, you're expecting them to be historically and consistently accurate in a game where they have never been interested doing that. They didn't explain mecha hitler either, but they managed to get the swastika right, totally inconsistent amirite? This is literally the equivalent of criticizing sonic the hedgehog because REAL hedgehogs aren't blue and they don't wear shoes.

If you're expecting any sort of historical accuracy or consistency from a pulpy, nazi killing, fever dream power fantasy, that was born out of the 80s and you're leaving unsatisfied, then the video game probably isn't the problem here.

I eagerly await your next 'laid back' insult while you find another wikipedia nazi fact that doesn't line up with Wolfenstein's story.

Lmao. I know in addition to not being very smart you have a poor memory, but the subject is wolfenstein 2, not the old one. Additionally, you're still not providing a single point on what benefit to story or gameplay this particular deviancy from historicity provides.

Oh, and you want to swing at me for "insulting" you? Tell you what, I'll stop when you stop your own bullshit.

Quite right. I was so glad, similarly, that when Sony decided to revive the long dead Crash Bandicoot series, they took painstaking care in ensuring that each mutant marsupial looked as authentic to their analogous creatures in the animal kingdom as possible, so not to offend them with a bipedal, orange, short-wearing caricature. Remember that the artist's true tool is the focus group, for how else is he to know exactly which form his creative process should take to be objectively acceptable for every possible viewer.

I suppose you would have preferred that for every story Charles Dickens penned in support of better living standards for those living in poverty, he write a contrasting one to advocate in favour of their suffering, for balance's sake.

I know in addition to being a contrarian you have a very strange grasp of how fiction works. But wolfenstein is a series, I brought up Mecha-hitler to highlight their track record of silliness, history be damned. You do know how a franchise/brand works right?

The latest four games Wolfenstein (2009) The New Order, The Old Blood and The New Colossus are soft reboot of the original series, but still are alternate history silly games even if the graphics and dialogue are a bit better. The new order begins an alternative timeline of the 1960s where the Nazis won WW2 so the very silly franchise, still complete with mecha nazi warmachines and cyborg dogs takes many liberties with real world history.

Benefit to the gameplay or story? Jesus is this your argument? What benefit to the story would it have been if it stayed totally realistic and had the war end in 1945? Its an alternative fucking history, real world facts are totally irrelevant. You cant criticise fiction that is in no way attempting to be realistic for not being realistic. So Hitler hated the KKK IRL? Cool, who gives a shit? Wolfenstien II wanted to have a dumb exchange in a 1960s america of SS troops berating subordinate Klan members for not learning german quick enough. That's its own justification.

You're essentially complaining that a 'What-if' Fan-Fiction is misrepresenting Nazis to make them seem more cartoonish and ridiculous then their real life counterparts. Considering you are literally arguing this on a Roleplaying Forum adds a thick layer of irony over your already well established ignorance.

I take it you are using the term 'bullshit' in the broadest possible sense because I haven't said anything false about the games here. But bullshit is a lot more preferable to irrelevant nonsense.

it's not historical liscense, and anyways is impertinent. But that's a pretty ebin paragraph you got there. Shame it means shit.

I'm pretty sure you're not actually laughing, much less laughing your ass off, so I guess this is an attempt to seem blase and laid back while you argue. Low effort man.

tru fam

I know in addition to being a contrarian you have a very strange grasp of how fiction works. But wolfenstein is a series, I brought up Mecha-hitler to highlight their track record of silliness, history be damned. You do know how a franchise/brand works right?

Nevertheless there's a disconnect to the lore, so that bit of writing is worthless and irrelevant.

The new order begins an alternative timeline of the 1960s where the Nazis won WW2 so the very silly franchise, still complete with mecha nazi warmachines and cyborg dogs takes many liberties with real world history.

It has a clear point of divergence, and it is nevertheless expected to follow it's internal logical consistency, and trying to write it off as a result of it being a franchise goes to show the retardation of your stance, especially given the many "serious" moments.

Benefit to the gameplay or story? Jesus is this your argument? What benefit to the story would it have been if it stayed totally realistic and had the war end in 1945?

It wouldn't have been alternative history then, stop restating the question in a retarded way.

So Hitler hated the KKK IRL? Cool, who gives a shit? Wolfenstien II wanted to have a dumb exchange in a 1960s america of SS troops berating subordinate Klan members for not learning german quick enough. That's its own justification.

As I said myself, this isn't too important to me especially since the statement hitler hated the kkk was based on a single poster depicting them poorly in nazi germany and he would have most likely used them opportunistically.

You're essentially complaining that a 'What-if' Fan-Fiction is misrepresenting Nazis to make them seem more cartoonish and ridiculous then their real life counterparts.

that still in no way explains what the point of making the frau a roman catholic is. but, avoiding a point/question is standard behaviour for you.

Considering you are literally arguing this on a Roleplaying Forum adds a thick layer of irony over your already well established ignorance.

That's funny. You were the one who was bitching about people bitching about a game.

I take it you are using the term 'bullshit' in the broadest possible sense because I haven't said anything false about the games here. But bullshit is a lot more preferable to irrelevant nonsense.

@Andreyich Serious moments =/= Real World internal logic, but you knew that right?

They could have made the frau a roman catholic for aesthetic reasons, it doesn't mean they dont know their history, it means they are intentionally playing with it. Not every decision made by someone representing nazis in (fictional) media is an opportunity for a 'gotcha' moment for some online wehraboo to 'refute' it.

But again, what does this matter? Not following historical details, subverting them, or changing them in alternative history doesn't necessarily add or subtract anything from the game plot-wise. You're looking for something to not like about the game because the consensus is that it's popular, and its becoming more glaringly obvious with every stupid response.

There is not a clear point of divergence, the game was in no way historically accurate leading up to 'Nazis winning the war' so you either haven't played these games (somewhat likely) or are just lying through your teeth to save face (very likely). Stop trying to make the wacky nazi game a reddit histoy critique you'll be a lot happier in general about videogames in I think.

No, you just have other disgusting behaviour patterns.

And you're stuck in my thread, arguing with me about the accuracy of fanatsy nazi video games, boy I don't envy you.

So the DNC has officially acknowledged Clinton rigged the election.

Clinton rigged the primaries, but Trump won the election and one of his officials recently confessed to Russian involvement (as heard on NPR). There was corruption on both sides. Both parties are disgusting. But at least the democrats didn't enlist the aid of a foreign power. The election should be solely domestic.
