It saddens me that the previous thread died out and was closed, so here is my attempt at recapturing the magic that @Surtr Inc created when he made the thread. Meh, sounds good. never liked music about love, connections or human emotions like that. That's why I prefer instrumental music or foreign music which I can't understand. Words just ruin it for me. But the beat is good though. 6.7/10

@Bishop You forgot to give a rating and a comment to my song, my dude.

I like that song. The beat is odd and not something I've heard before, but it had a rhythm to it that was pretty neato. The vocals here and there added a nice layer to it. I don't know what they were saying, but that doesn't matter, now does it?

I'd give it a solid 7/10 for it being a solid track.

@Altered Tundra Nothing like new music in the morning. Thanks for making a new one, can only hope it isn't derailed and stays active.

Well you certainly picked an interesting piece. It immediately reminds me of The Requiem by Linkin Park. Which, for the record I absolutely hated the fact time I heard it, but it's oddness grew on me.

Oddness certainly is what I got from listening to the piece, I'm not sure if repeated listens would make the experience better or worse. Because I didn't really digest any of the lyrics, or note anything particular about the instrumental piece that I liked (or disliked). But it kept my interest throughout. (And got me to skim a few other tracks to get a better idea of the artist.)

It's always just a little bit harder to rate tracks like this, especially on the scale of subjective liking vs recognizing effort/talent. But I'll always rate it on my personal enjoyment in the end.

6.5 I think it's interesting, those who enjoy more pleasant calming background/ambiance music will enjoy this one more.

(Here's something I can imagine enjoying greatly, hating, and anything in-between. But I also find appreciation in artists that dabble in different sounds, their new album sounds more (Blurryface) 21 pilots like. If you like them a lot, maybe give their new stuff a spin instead.)

IT'S BAAAACK!!! AUDIOPHILES REJOICE!!!

Unfortunately, my internet is worse than useless where I am. It's taking all my bandwidth just to watch these damn videos, and they still don't buffer faster than they play. I can say I dig the style. Anything pop-punk hits me in all the right places (Fucking hell, you guys should know this by now), though it drifts a little bit too close to the pop part of that spectrum. But it's still pretty good, so I'll give it a pass. And it's actually meaningful to some extent. More than I can say for the majority of new songs that I hear anymore. Seriously, fuck the current music industry. 7.5/10

I waited a day, since I've listened to this song before. (And I was the last one to reply. But I guess there's no real hindrance from others from listening.)

8/10 Alkaline Trio's lyrics have never been their strong suit. But their catchy, enjoyable pop-punk. (A genre I also listen to plenty of.) This one is probably the best from their 'Good Mourning' album.

I remember the old thread, but never took part in it. So, let's rectify that.

I'd give that a 7/10. First time hearing it and I'm surprised at how modern it is. It's reminds me very much of a 90's R&B song in the best way possible. I really like the music. The lyrics kind of left something to be desired, but I'll cut it some slack since it seems that English might not be his first language.

7/10 Solid song. I need more good southern rock tunes.

Electropop. So take it or leave it. I was tempted to post one of their newer tracks, but this chorus though. (Their music videos are enjoyable in a surreal way, forgive the 2009 style lesser quality.)

Overall, I enjoyed it, and this is typically close to what I think of when I hear the words "club music". Sadly, most clubs just play remixed, bass-boosted versions of whatever's in the top 40 at the time. This was a fun time though. I loved the beat and the use of the bass and... whatever that thing is that makes that buzzing sort of noise. Please fill me in as to what that's called. 7/10.

Also, your sig is adorable.

Gonna keep with the electronic music.

@TheMadAsshatter This is not music I feel I can really enjoy on my own but the quality is undeniable. Considering how stripped down the intstruments are the song has amazing pace and keeps me engaged. I also love how crisp those kick drums are, they feel full without being overly loud.

Not normally a fan of rap, though I do have some choice favorites from the 90s and early 2000s. This definitely seems to take a couple pointers from rappers of that time, which I can definitely appreciate. Kinda makes me think of DMX. I do have one complaint being with the various changes in tempo throughout the song. That's just a problem I have in general though with any song that has that sort of change with no lead up to it or logical transition. It just comes off as jarring and makes it hard to keep up, but that's just me. 7.5/10.

Coheed and Cambria just released a new song. I think here is a good place to share it, because it is fantastic.

It's nice to see Coheed and Cambria return to form. Not that their previous album was bad - in fact, I enjoyed most of the songs their previous album had. But this one really gave me vibes of their Good Apollo days. The breed of songs that were 7+ minutes long. It really was a welcomed surprise. As for this one, I really enjoyed the entire song. The opening was quite interesting, but as the song went on, I really started to jam out to it. Suffice to say, I'm hyped for their upcoming album.

8/10 Certainly need to be a certain mood for stuff like this. But I enjoy the bombast of the track. The layering of the vocals make them a little drowned out in the music's "loudness" at times.

Another song out of my usual listening experience, kinds of sounds like something you'd put to a Disney movie, hopefully will be an enjoyable experience.

This sounds vaguely familiar, and the art style of the music video reminds me of another song I heard on the guild fucking years ago, but I forgot what it's called and haven't been able to find it since, which sucks because it was great.

Sorry, tangent over. This is definitely something that you would expect to hear in a movie soundtrack or something. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the song itself though. I've listened to it twice and been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to come up with words for it, but just can't to be honest. It was just sort of there. Nothing bad about it, but nothing that really stood out either. If anything, I feel like the song could have worked with or without lyrics, and they seemed like they were just filler. I dunno, maybe I just have a hard time critiquing certain types of music, but it just felt very neutral. 6.5/10.

@TheMadAsshatter Can you remember any more specific details about the music video? I know a few that share different similarities to the track in question.

A perfect circle seems like a band that should have a more consistently good song record than I feel they really do...(they're a super group after all.) But tracks are often hit or miss to me. (Forgive my own tangent.)

The guys voice is good as usual, but the lyrics (I looked them up to make sure I wasn't missing anything.) aren't really all that interesting. Musically, it feels a little empty. Doesn't really build, or have any notable changes from the quiet sound of the track. There's like a little bit of underlying creepiness from the chorus, which matches the album cover in question. But if it was going that route, it needed more.

So aside from vocals it's about average, which is a little worse, because I feel they can do/have done better than this.

5/10

One of my own favorite hit or miss artists. (Won't even say if I like this song/album or not.)

So all I can say of the song is it has sort of a post-hardcore/alt/indie rock feel to it. I actually remember the music video pretty clearly. It's all animated in a simplistic way, and it starts off with this blue/green background and zooms in on a turtle shell. The turtle comes out of the shell and starts walking, then a meteor comes and blows the turtle to pieces. On the pieces, there's people (drawn as stick figures IIRC) and houses and shit (all very simplistic), and they're all doing whatever. At certain parts it changes to just show a silhouette of a person singing along to the lyrics of the song. Around the last verse, the turtle comes back together (still alive, no blood or anything like that) and just gets back in it's shell. It's weird and abstract, but yeah that's about it. Also, I'm 98% sure someone said the band was from Europe. Somewhere Northeastern if I recall correctly. Finnish, maybe. It was sung in English, though.

.....

So, back to your actual song, going into it, I was concerned that it was just going to be that tense violin buildup with nothing but those hard hitting beats after that. And then the singer came in, and I was like "Ahh, okay, this is the actual song." Still though, those hard stings were useless. And then in the interlude between the second and third verse they were distracting. I wonder if there's actually supposed to be some creative artistic value to it or if it was just noise. Either way, I don't understand why they were used at all. They just sounded cheesy and honestly, the whole song loses a full point just for that. I get that sometimes musicians experiment with shit, and sometimes that shit fails.

As for the rest of the song... (listens to it again). It was... okay. The chorus felt generic (and suffered from sudden-needless-tempo-change-itis, my least favorite musical element), but I did enjoy the overall instrumental composition of the rest of the song (not counting the back-to-back stings), but I really wasn't a big fan of the overall melody. It seemed really devoid of range, first of all. The lyrics were okay, but forgettable. Most importantly, it feels like the artist just took ascending and descending chord progressions and made the occasional tweak here and there. I'll trust your judgment that this is one of your favorite "hit or miss" artists, but this song was a miss, IMO. 5/10.

Haven't brought up any of my ambient post-rock shit in awhile, so here you go.

Amazing simply amazing stuff. The choice of instruments for an ambience track is key, becasue you need to be able to have something soothing to listen to on loop as the song builds but also must be unique enough to keep your interest. Up until the guitars kicked in I completely forgot this was a rock song too. One of the best instrumentals ive heard. '

@TheMadAsshatter I failed to find the vid in question sadly. :c

Biffy Clyro is just one of those artist where one song doesn't do the poor man justice, every album is different. (Puzzle, the album this is from, was probably too straightforward of a rock record for its own good.) His harsh vocals are so bad, that they actually make me laugh a bit...so they're oddly enjoyable? xP *least tolerable when you get used to how it sounds* (I'd send you various songs through discord/otherwise if you'd be curious enough to indulge. Beaten to the rating, but still listened and the instrumental was pleasant enough.)

@Dynamo Frokane
Sorry ^-^'

Humor is subjective. But I feel if you compared this to something like Rice Gum, or any youtube (non-musician) rapper. I don't think it would sound/be much different in terms of musical/lyrical quality.

2/10 I've heard worse, but the gag got old fast. Like even as a joke, it kind of ended in a dud. Don't like feeling like a stickler. But I've really never liked the 'skit' part of this genre, which is how this song comes off. The cartoon sound effects/censors as the instrumental were obnoxious. I guess it's mostly inoffensive?

Feel good music anyone?

It's pretty catchy, the piano being played throughout the song was good and it is certainly a very perky and upbeat song I could listen to it for awhile. However the singer's voice would get on my nerves a little bit after awhile, it's not my type of music honestly but I would probably randomly look it up and listen to it from time to time. I'll give it a 5.6-10 still a good song regardless. :)

@Nallore The song sounds like it belongs in the soundtrack of a 2000s racing game, like Burnout or Need for Speed (which is funny because Rise Against has appeared in Need For Speed before), or mid-2000s anime music video. Regardless, I have an appreciation for this song because it took me back to a time where things were simpler. I would put this song in a workout playlist. It's a great song to pump someone up for sure. 7.75/10
