Mahendra Huq Zalil

Location: The Museum (Washroom) --> Vera's Office
Skills: Drawing

It was a brief relief to button up the shirt and once again conceal the branding that he couldn't idenfity, but that didn't cease the pain though. It was bareable, but far from comfortable. Mahendra, still feeling the fever burning him up started washing his hands and face quickly with what cold water the washroom sink could provide, hoping it would help. But the real issue was not the fever, so he took a deep breath in and finally exited the washroom.

He had to get to Vera. She was the closest and most qualified person to identify the mark, and they had already said they were going to her office just before he himself ran off. But as he made his way to her office, trying his best to remember the directions from last night, he pulled out his notebook and a pencil to start drawing. This was a dire situation, cosmically so, but it would be not appropriate for a man to go off showing his bare belly to everyone. So Mahendra tried to draw the symbol branding him on paper to the best of his abilities.

Mahendra reached the office to find Lauren and Akhmed absent, but the three other ladies remained. Most importantly Vera. He didn't know what type of conversation he had just entered, but Mahendra tried to wait for a proper time to interrupt as he spoke to the others, sweat dripping from his forehead from the burning pain and fever. "I am sorry to interrupt my Ladies, but I must ask a possibly relevant question..." Mahendra began to speak, holding out the notepad to Vera. "It...it appears that this symbol has been branded on...well, on my stomach, just now. Quite painfully so."

The items up for Reginald's inspection gave him no solace, no sense of immediate closure. It was the appearance of finality at the end of a tunnel, giving him a sense that maybe, sometime in the future, he would be able to fully accept the reality of his situation. Peter was indeed dead. This time.

He briefly considered claiming the watch and other personal effects for himself, citing his relation to the man and the fact that they were both military officers. It was protocol to go over these items before passing them along to the family, anyway. "No, thank you. This shall be sufficient to identify." he said quietly but clearly, "If I might have a moment with his things before I claim his remains?" It was less of a question, more of a statement of what was to occur next.

Careful hands picked up and inspected every piece of Peter's charred belongings. Cufflinks, wallet, watch, the handle of his cane, even the irregular piece of something that was embedded in his leg. Especially the irregular piece of something that was embedded in his leg. A foreign object that may or may not have contributed to his death, be it directly or indirectly? It deserved his scrutiny before he moved on.

Without context or prompting, Reginald looked to George as the inspection continued, saying, "I appreciate your assistance with this difficult task, Mr. Benaszewski. You seem a decent and loyal fellow. As we finish things here, I should wish to buy you a drink. A bit of spirits among Men of Honor to tribute our dear and fallen."

Nora thought for a moment, looking at the suddenly startled and hissing cat. It hadn't made any sort of aggressive actions prior to this moment. And taking in Neema's words, Nora looked around her, trying to spot any detail that seemed amiss. They had met up with Josephine and the others prior to the cat beginning to hiss. It only started to hiss once Lady Munn's question had been directly answered by Josephine. If Neema was to be believed, was this somehow a warning from Bast? Or an answer to Lady Munn's question?

As Lauren left the room, Nora crouched down and looked underneath the desk at the cat. She figured Lauren had gone to retrieve a means of luring it out. And then, in order to test a theory, Nora removed the glove from her hand, allowing the brand to be seen clearly. She held her hand out to the cat. "It is alright," she whispered. Had she not been in the middle of testing a theory, she would have risen immediately and faced the newcomer that had been branded miraculously. Had he been designated as a replacement for Haakon? Or were there other guardians being selected?

Josephine eyed the others as the cat hissed, almost as if the beast was speaking to them, suggesting that perhaps there is danger in reading books. Then again, if you had asked her before all of this, she would have called you crazy and suggested writing a script based off that insane idea. Now, it seemed more likely than ever that mysterious forces were at work and, perhaps, the book in question was the culprit? She wouldn't dare share those feelings with Vera though. The woman was clearly beating herself up already, Josephine didn't want to add to that.

Then that man from the other day entered and spoke about his own branding. Josephine idly glanced at her own mark before turning up to gaze at the man, wondering what Vera would make of this. Was it because they lost Haakon? Or was it because these new people entered into the scene and were now chosen? Either way, it seemed too much of a coincidence. "More marks? Seems others are being roped into this adventure."

Josephine was still of the mindset that there was another player in this wicked game. Someone, possibly one of their own, orchestrating everything. Haakon's death, Peter's death. Whether it be mortal or otherwise, she was invested in figuring this out.

Akhmed looked over towards Mosi and a smile formed on his lips but it faded when he saw the mark that she showed him. His brows lowering as he stepped out from behind the counter and came closer to her. Kneeling down and taking a closer look at it there was a nod. "Yes I know it," he said as he looked up at her. Slowly he rose to stand fully again. He was about to say more but another came over. Miss Ridgeway from the night before. It was probably best to get her on her way than to stay there and talk and have her wait.

"We didn't use to but once Lady Munn started keeping her cat around here we did," he said motioning out to the street. "There is usually one of two out there trying to get the sale for the day. If you wouldn't mind, can you get enough for two cats?" he asked as he reached into his back pocket and pulled out some bank notes. "Don't pay more than this for three pounds," he said as he handed it over. "Sorry but I have to run and help a guest," he said to Lauren before turning his attention back to Mosi. "Follow me if you would."

Vera looked over at the cat as it hissed. It didn't seem too terribly pleased right then. It made her wonder where Merneith had gotten away to but she wasn't overly worried about her own personal feline. Cats had a way of surviving. Lauren was off to go get some food for the cat, hopefully that would be enough to get it out of there or at least stop hissing. Rubbing her temples she glanced over as her new assistant came into the room. Josephine was right, more and more were getting drug into this.

Even the cat was because as Nora reached out the cat it calmed, almost instantly. Purring and rubbing its head against her hand and more than that the branding. This was a curious development. Especially as it kept close to Nora, winding its way around her and becoming a hissing blockage between Nora and Mahendra. Vera perked a brow, whatever it was, it was at least making her focus on the now as she stepped over to the man and looked at the symbol. "Set."

The man left to allow them some time. George stood there and watched in silence, not breaking it until the Lord Major spoke to him. "Mmmm, yes. Thank you. If you will let me... tell you about the metal piece while we do," he said quietly before the man re-entered. After that, it was not long before Peters body was placed in a pine box and taken out to the vehicle fro the barracks. George walked in silence and opened the doors for Reginald as they went. Once they were back in the transport, they were ready to go.

A pine box, like a common soldier. It was a piece of quiet dignity, really. Without regard to what his position of birth afforded him, or what would become of his remains after they arrived in England, he was given the same honors that were given to any low-born enlisted man who fulfilled his pledge to give his life for the British Empire. They were all equals in death, and in that regard, Reginald was a jealous man. Quietly, he picked up the box of Peter's effects and filed in behind the plain, wooden coffin as it was carried out to the vehicle.

He kept silent until both he and George were in the Rolls-Royce, choosing that moment to respond to the soft spoken, disfigured man. "Ah yes, so the irregular bit of metal does bear some significance. Indeed, Mr. Benaszewski, I would like to learn more about it. Too many things of seeming unimportance have been proving themselves to be anything but. I know not what this little adventure is supposed to accomplish sir, but I do have a feeling that it is a thing greater than myself. To commit one's mortality to such a purpose is a noble passing indeed, possibly balancing the scales for a lifetime of mistakes." He eyed George intently for a moment, continuing, "I cannot believe that this is mere coincidence, and as such must follow the path put before us. I know it must seem an old man's folly, but do you understand, at least in part, to what I refer?"

The car continued down the streets of Cairo, laden with its living and formerly living cargo. It made its way in the direction of the Qasr El Nil Barracks, where imbibable spirits and hopefully useful answers resided within the Officers' Club.

Lauren Ridgeway

Location: The Cairo Museum

Lauren continued to look away from Mosi while Akhmed spoke to her, until he pulled out a banknote towards her as she gently took it Lauren looked it over for a moment. She nodded slightly as she listened to him Lauren didn't know that Vera had owned a cat, but then again she only had known Vera for only a day. "Of course I don't mind." Lauren she accepted the banknote paper and gave Mosi a friendly smile and nod, looked he was going to tend to whatever Mosi needed. "I'll return shortly and I can give you the left over money as well." Lauren said before turning around and started to head out of the Museum. Lauren looked around as she walked along side the sidewalk near the museum, she adjusted her hair a bit.

Lauren did feel a bit bad for just up and leaving Vera, especially after finding out that she had lost Peter the night before, but she did have company with Nora and Josephine as well as Mahendra to. Lauren dug through her purse once more taking out twenty British Sterling that she kept on her. Lauren would occasionally look at some of the people as they went on about their day and gave them a friendly smile and a nod to those that looked at her. If she couldn't find the cat meat vendor nearby Lauren would just have to head back inside and find a way to lure the cat out. Lauren did start to wonder what Mosi and Akhmed were talking about exactly and why she lifted up her shirt, and also she did make a mental note to possibly ask her about it.

"More marks, like sheep marked for the slaughter, or men marked for great things...regardless, I do not particularly enjoy this chain of events." Mahendra said in a tone of restrained nervousness, sweat still dripping from his forehead and underneath the red turban. Those marks on them could mean many things, but the Bengali once again feared the worst meaning of them. Looking from Josephine to Nora with the cat, hissing at him and seemingly keeping him away, before looking at Vera as she turned her attention to him and his own mark.

"Set?" Mahendra repeated after his superior, clearly trying to connect the dots of things he swore he knew. He was certain he had seen the mark in the Museum before, yet the pressing matter of the marking didn't help in conjuring up what he was supposed to remember. And for a man with usual good memory, it was not a good impression to give off to the one he was an assistant. The fever and pain probably didn't help either. Mahendra looked from Vera and to everyone in the room, even the cat Lauren had brought with her...what? "Not to sidestep the more pressing matters at hand, but what seems to be the issue with the cat?"

She kept attention on Akhmed's face and saw that his smile vanished when his eyes fell onto the brand. Curious and possibly concerning. She had to know more now! She stood firm without moving or showing shyness or anything else as he came closer and even went kneeling so he can get a closer look. Mosi just looked at him with answers demanding eyes, waiting for him to speak.

“Mm?” Mosi made a questioning sound as she heard a familiar voice to the side. Turning her head to the side to see the source of the voice, she didn't even bother to let down her shirt. Indeed it was someone she now knew, in fact someone with whom she took the same ride last night, it was Lauren.” Hello, Lauren. Good morning to you too.” She greeted with a smile and turned back to Akhmed.

This was a rather weird thing she had went through so yeah. She wanted answers to it. She believed in the supernatural well enough. She wanted to study the supernatural as much as she can, but to suffer through this she wanted to be sure it wasn't some evil omen or something the likes of that. If it went that route well things would be complicated fast.

“Sure, lead the way.” She replied with a smile non the less and finally let her shirt fall down again as she headed to follow after the man.

Nora wasn't much of a cat person, but she couldn't help but smile slightly as the cat calmed down. Of course, she couldn't help but find it curious that the cat seemed to recognize her branding, rubbing itself against it and then coiling its way around Nora. There were three explanations that came to mind immediately: 1) it's a coincidence and nothing more than that, 2) the cat had been exposed to a friendly person with that symbol before and came to associate it with safety and friendliness, or 3) the cat knew it was the mark of Bastet. "Lady Munn, please forgive me...But are there any other symbols of Bastet that you know of? I have a theory I'd like to test with our feline friend."

The cat seemed to hate the mark of Set and adore the mark of Bastet. Of course, that could all be pure coincidence in Nora's mind. If she were to present the cat with another image related to Bastet, how would it react? And if she were to have an individual the cat showed no preference towards - such as Lady Munn - hold it, what would happen? "I believe there is a chance that the cat recognizes our brandings...perhaps those associated with them...but I would like to make sure," she whispered, explaining the idea to Mahendra as she looked over at him.

Josephine Clark

It seemed as if more would be joining their fold and Josephine wasn't sure whether to be excited or upset. After all, she had been branded along with the others and she was now part of this investigation. She was invested in this now, whether anyone else cared or not. And now, more seemed to be getting marked. Did Bastet just hand these out willy-nilly?

As Lady Munn got up to investigate the man's brand, Josephine took it upon herself to finally search Vera's office. She wasn't looking for anything in particular, just something to help explain some of these things. Words like Bastet sticking out would be good. And now, it seemed, Set should be added too. Jo paid little mind to the cat and the small woman who spoke up about some test she wanted to try. However, Jo noticed the social cues given off of her. She didn't remember the girl's name, but she seemed smart and skilled, if quiet.

Jo would have to remember what she saw since she was sure Vera would not allow her to take anything with her.

As the Lord Major's conveyance smoothly pulled up to the main vehicle entrance of the Qasr El Nil Barracks. It was generally customary for approaching personnel to show documentation of some kind, papers of intent or orders or some such, but considering the nature of the arrival and the fact that it was the base's Commanding Officer, things could slide. George had already gotten the affirmative earlier, and the man who gave it was in the car with him. The guards merely raised a salute and opened the gates to allow the Rolls-Royce to enter unhindered.

Now, the vehicle that pulled up behind them did get the full treatment. It appeared to be a more local conveyance, an older model of German or Austrian construction that was repurposed as a light transport vehicle. Reginald looked back as the truck began to gather the attention of more and more guards, but he didn't give any orders. Either the driver had the necessary paperwork or he just put his life in the hands of the watch Sergeant's judgement. "That is most likely the additional supplies I ordered from closer sources. Luxury items, creature comforts, sundries, and the like for our little adventure." he explained to his own driver and George. Focusing purely on the man behind the wheel, he ordered, "Drive on."

The Lord Major's car pulled around to the first courtyard's receiving area where an Honor Guard was on standby to take responsibility of the casket and the remains therein. For now, Reginald retained the box of personal effects, slightly anxious to learn what George had to say.

October 5th, 1924

George remained silent as they traveled through the city and back to the barracks. He had a lot to explain and sadly could not say everything. Things had to be worded correctly. It was not that he was trying to hide anything about the piece of metal that was in Peters pocket when he died but if one was not careful during a time of loss the smallest of things could set one off. This was not something he wanted to do. He didn't want to upset the Lord Major anymore than he already was. George knew the feeling of loss. Peter might not have been blood but he did look at the man as if he was a brother. Peter had been the closest person to him other than his sister and she never could understand what they had been through during the war or after. He hoped she never would.

Thankfully the thought of death was not playing on the minds of the vendors that ran back and forth outside of the museum. There were plenty of them and rightfully so. The museum was a prime location for tourists to come and see all the treasures of Egypt. They could sell their wares for a hefty mark up, passing many worthless items off as historical artifacts. Most didn't know the difference. Many would approach Lauren while she was outside, trying to sell her trinkets or statues. To anyone that had lived in Cairo more than a month, it would be easy to spot a scam. Thankfully there were two cat meat sellers out front and they wouldn't be hard to spot. Their carts smelled of heavy burning incense to cover the smell of the meat. Both were middle ages men, one more robust than the other. The thinner one would be easier to deal with but drive a higher price. The more rotund one would be an ass to deal with but one could haggle the price down further. (Feel free to control and have fun with the haggle.)

Vera nodded slightly as she reached out to the arm of a chair to steady herself and sat down. "Set is the patron God of the Desert, of Chaos and Disorder." There was much about Set, he was a big player in the history of the mythology of Egypt. The first thing that came to her mind though was his symbol. "He is said to be the destroyer and ruled over Lower Egypt..." her words dwindling slightly as her eyes traveled around the room. "In conflict with Bastet."

Watching Lauren head out, Akhmed turned his attention back to Mosi. "Yes of course, this way," he said before leading her further into the museum and up the stairs to the second floor. As he went he explained. "That is the symbol of Set, or Seth. He was lord of the red, the desert, land where he was the balance to Horus' role as lord of the black, the soil, land. He was a skilled fighter but he killed his brother Osiris, wanting to rule over all of Egypt. Osiris was Horus's father. In the end, Set got the Lower Kingdom but he represented everything that threatened Egypt."

"Oh balderdash. Set was great and he had a right to rule as he was the decedent of Ra," the curator pipped in as they came to three statues. "Here he is crowning Ramses III with Horus."

"The same could be said for Bastet and she had much more claim to Egypt being the eye of Ra than any others," Akhmed chimed back.

Vera nodded. "Oh yes. The lioness. Cats. The Udjat. The sistrum even. She was attributed to the sun and the moon, the colors yellow, green, and gray. She was the daughter of Ra and the goddess of birth. I doubt there is much in Egypt that isn't attached to her in one way or another. She was life, while, well Set was death." Being the daughter of Ra, it made Bastet a key player in life and history or Egypt. Yet that was not a text that Josephine came across. She came across a book titled A Family Feud: The Contendings of Horus and Seth taken from the Chester Beatty Papyri.

Back at the barracks, George exited the car and waited. "Perhaps a drink is in order sir, mmm." His voice was solemn as he spoke and he kept his head down. Whether that was in respect of trying to hide his mask was up to debate but there it was. He was ready to explain once he and the Lord Major had some privacy.

Lauren Ridgeway

Location: Outside of the Cairo Museum
Skills: Reading People, Bribing

Lauren looked at some of the various vendors that were there as they tried to get her attention, even as going as far as to try and lead them over to one of their stalls or carts of various trinkets. Lauren would occasionally take a look at some of them, however she had a feeling that they were either trying to scam her for something fake, or something that was actually real. Lauren wasn't really interested though, and simply wanted to entertain them with possible costumer service. "No thank you." Lauren said giving the ones that she stepped to look at, before continuing on their way to grab some more tourists. Lauren then spotted two cat meat vendors, as she could easily pick up the scent of incense coming from their carts.

Lauren stared at the two carts seeing the various prices that were there, the thinner looking middle aged man seemed to be more easier going, as he haggled with another customer. The robust looking man however appeared to either be grumpy or angry a lot of the time, while dealing with his customers. Lauren stood there for a good few minutes as she thought which one would be better to deal with, Lauren wanted to get it done rather quickly and head back to the museum. She decided to go for the robust man, she was used to dealing with rude and drunken people most of the time anyway as well.

"What do you want lady, we got cheaper prices than him." He said shrugging towards the thinner looking guy who seemed to be a lot more calmer while eyeing Lauren and his rival by the looks of it. Lauren pulled out the banknote that Ahkmed had given her, and then twenty British sterling as well. Lauren eyed a smaller hunk of meat that was there, it was a bit to expensive than what Ahkmed had given her Lauren stared at him. "Can you go a bit lower?" Lauren asked, the man grumbled and rolled his eyes towards her. Lauren rubbed the back of her neck a bit. "What about half of the price?" Lauren asked, he glared at her. "Quarter price for it." He said crossing his arms over his chest and stared at her as Lauren thought about it a bit more.

Mahendra Huq Zalil

Location: The Museum: Vera's Office
Skills: Understanding of Egyptian superstition

The cat knew the different symbols branded onto them, and behaved accordingly towards them. Well it was perhaps not one of the most outlandish theories Mahendra had heard about animals. The creatutes of nature were living beings deeply connected to the cycle of life and death. For all they knew the cat had been a wise man in a previous life.

But why those symbols of all? Symbols of life...and death. Mahendra shuddered. He was branded by the God of death, but why? And what did it mean? Had this happened before? Mahendra leaned against the wall as he tried to grind his gears of knowledge. This couldn't be the first time, right? But the pain and fever kicked in again, making the Bengali cluth his stomach and suppress a grimace from showing. "Perhaps it...I'm sorry, but could I...get a glass of water?"

“Mmmhhmmmmm...” She made a sound and followed after Akhmed started leading her somewhere and was in the middle of a speech that seemed to be explaining the origin of the mark on her stomach. She kept mostly quiet as she followed and listen to him with focused expression, occasionally rubbing her stomach through the shirt to feel the branded skin underneath. It really wasn't a pleasant feeling.

“Alright, let me get this straight...” Mosi started as Akhmed was doing his explanation.” So this is the mark of Seth... Seth is a bad guy, representing danger and other general nasty stuff right?” She asked and looked at him with a mix of serious and confused expression.” Why would I have the mark on my stomach branded? Especially the mark of that guy?” She asked as the curator also appeared and earned a raised eyebrow from her since he and Akhmed started discussing divine rights of succession all the sudden.

“Alright, alright, do not argue who's got the right of rulership over Egypt on the gods side.” Mosi stated to interrupt the curator and Akhmed who were having some kind of argument here. She had no idea why though.” Just tell me what this mark means. You can leave the bickering between you two for after that.” She added and pulled her shirt once more to underline her current predicament.” Also this Seth guy looks weird, is that head of a real animal? Because I for sure haven't seen that animal before.”

Nora nodded at Lady Munn's explanations, pulling out her pocket journal and a writing utensil. She did a rough sketch of a sun and a moon together - it was nothing beautiful but it conveyed the general idea in her opinion. She would have drawn the sistrum, but Nora felt that would be more than pushing her artistic talents. She gently bent her journal, in order to just have the cat see the images she drew, and Nora crouched down, showing the symbols to the cat with anticipation.

However, she also had another line of questioning come to mind - if her branding meant she was supposed to protect the Bastet, were there individuals marked as being involved with chaos that Mahendra would be expected to defend? Or was the branding of Set an identification that he was one of the individuals she supposedly needed to protect Lady Munn from? Each small revelation only built up to more and more questions, to the point that Nora wished dearly that Neema was here. She found herself becoming quite reliant on Neema for information as of late - she would surely know what these new developments meant.

Jo had to admit it was nice to see Vera up and about and with a bit more color on her cheeks. She was worried she would have to move a mute around for the whole duration of her trip. Instead, Josephine prided herself in discovering a text that stood out to her. She moved the book for a better viewing of it, reading the title in her head. It wasn't a page turner, by the sounds of it, but if it held some information that could be used for this journey, then it was worth the effort.

So Jo opened it and began to read, taking in the words. She hoped that words would jump off the page at her, begging her to read them and understand the mysteries surrounding their ordeal. It would probably not be that easy, she knew that. She only heard the conversation in passing, but she would let the others deal with the gritty work of whatever the cat was doing and what significance it played. That was not her expertise. She would help in her own capacity.

It was early yet, as compared to most of the drinking population of the Barracks, and so the Officers' Club was rightfully empty save for a slender man who stood behind the bar, absently rubbing a tumbler glass with a cloth. Final touches for the sake of presentation, most likely. Spotting upon flatwear or drinking vessels was an almost unforgivable transgression - they were British, after all. Standards had to be met. Reginald gave the bartender a sharp nod, prompting him to immediately grab for a bottle of whisky and a glass. "Two glasses, barkeep, and a straw. Private booth."

Reginald took himself and the box of personal effects to a booth in the back and drew a curtain around it. He set the box on the table, and waited for the bartender to arrive before he said a word. Now with drink in hand and a sense of minor accomplishment in tow, the Lord Major quietly awaited a proper response from George. He did not want to wait further to get into this discussion. They had alcohol, privacy, and a box of personal effects. It was storytime. Reginald offered a drink and the straw to his guest. After all, impatience is a poor excuse for bad manners.

Whether things were going well elsewhere in Cairo, at least one thing was. The man finally gave in on price for Lauren and sold her the meat she wanted. At least that was over with and now the kitty would have something to eat, as well as Veras cat whenever she decided to show her whiskers. The curator had never been a fan of cats in the museum, even with their attachment to Egyptian mythology, but it was probably for good reason. They tended to get under foot and cause havoc. That was the last thing a building with artifacts that were thousands of years old needed. Yet they were there.

Speaking of the curator, he was giving Mosi's escort a hell of a stink eye and then Mosi herself before shaking head and walking off, muttering something in Arabic under his breath. Akhmed just rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to Mosi. "Why you are marked, I do not know. Um, no, that is a Jackal and it is his head, not a mask. At least that is how the legend goes." Looking around, people were starting to visit the museum. "Let me take you to Lady Munns office, perhaps she can help you with this," he said. It wasn't that he wanted to leave the woman hanging but he did have a job to do. Turning he offered her an arm, not so much as an escort but as help due to the branding. "If anything she can make sure that is cleaned and bound so it doesn't get infected."

"Oh yes, of course," Vera said as Mahendra asked for some water. She herself had yet to be branded but she could sympathize. The woman had a horrible habit of getting injured due to her clumsiness. Pain was never something fun to endure. Picking up a glass she poured the man some water from the pitcher which set on the table in her office. Resting the it down she walked the glass off water over to him. Or at least she tried. What happened next can only be described as a series of very unfortunate events.

You see, Vera has the worst luck staying on her feet. Having a cat about didn't make that any better. Remember what I was saying about cats in a museum being a bad idea? This was a perfect example of that. Somewhere between Vera walking over towards Mahendra and trying to hand him the glass the cat got under her already unsure feet. There was a splash of water to the mans face before the glass shattered right into face. Glass splintering into his face digging deep as blood came from the wounds.

Vera jumped back and shrieked. Turning and running to grab what was known as a her first aide basket, it was something the curator has insisted she keep in her office considering the amount of damage she caused to herself or others but would a few strips of linen really help a man who had a large chunk of glass in his throat? Actually, probably. Sad fact of the matter was while his injuries were bad. Vera rushing off to play nursemaid was not the best idea. She tripped again nearly impaled herself ear through to ear on a fireplace poker leaning against the fireplace in her office. She just missed it.

George leaned back in his seat, and began to speak. His words were a bit more flowing than normal but it was obvious that too much talking made his voice more and more gravelly. He told of how Peter found him, how he had taken him back to the hospital, how he had visited him. Then he told of how Peter had been shot down, how that piece of metal had impaled him in the leg, how it held him there as the Germans closed in, how he fought them as best he could pinned to that fence. Peter had kept it as a reminder that you never stop fighting. As he finished he raised a glass. "Mmmm, too Peter, the bravest man I ever knew."

Oh that roll in chat? Yeah, outside of the museum erupted a roar of screams as a pillar of smoke seemed to move through the crowd. The sea of people parting as someone who was lit on fire was running frantically through the streets. It was Neema, her flesh bubbling and dripping from her muscles and bones as she ran - until she was hit by a passing taxi and ended up laid out on the ground not twenty feet from Lauren. No one is having a fucking good day.
