Personality: Brad is a winner - nothing else matters as long as he is the best, and the other person knows it. Brad goes to extreme lengths in order to secure his position as "the best," and if he can't be the best, he usually doesn't even try. His poor grades and the fact that he was nearly held back last year show this very well. This focus on being the greatest overshadows most other aspects of his life, to the point where he doesn't know what he wants to do when he's an adult, and he refuses to try anything that would hurt his image or challenge people he feel he has a chance of losing to.
His main outlet to try his best and earn the adoration that teenagers crave so much takes the form of football, which he has been doing since elementary school thanks to his father's encouragement. Every facet of his life not meant to improve his reputation around school is devoted to weightlifting, practice, and finding ways to put on more muscle mass. He plans all of his meals, and he only has two rest days a week, with people being able to find him in the school's weight room or the football field the vast majority of the time.
While he has an intense drive to be the best and it makes him a bit cocky when it comes to things he works at, Brad tries his best to be a kind person, especially since he is all brawn and little brain. It's less that he's charismatic, and more that he is always respectful and helpful to people - well, he is when they aren't on the field. While this initially started as a way to make himself popular and liked, he has found acting this way to be very enjoyable, and it has went from an act into an attitude. If you need help moving some furniture, just throw a 20 his way and Brad will help out. If you offer to do his homework or help him with a project, he'll do pretty much anything. Just don't try to do anything competitive, or he'll quickly change his tune.
While Brad is very protective over the things he is good at, he is more than willing to help people train - especially if they are far weaker than him and don't pose a threat to his status. Or, better yet, they ask for help in something he doesn't care about. He may suck at it, but he'll put in just as much effort into the group project as anyone else.
Other: Brad, while far from intelligent, carefully counts his calories and is very attention focused when it comes to finding ways to get stronger. He also is very adherent and disciplined, able to stick to a strict training program.
Brad is not necessarily attracted to women - he is instead interested in femininity as an ideal. He would rather date a cute trap that wears a skirt than a girl that wouldn't be caught dead in a dress.
Brad typically dresses in either tank tops, form fitting shirts, or jerseys. They are all bright colors, and he especially favors greens, as those are the colors of the school. He usually wears jeans, but he carries a pair of sweatpants in his backpack at all times. His wardrobe is fairly small, all things considered.
Brad stands at 6'5, being especially tall for a kid his age - a needed asset when someone plays lineman. The picture above shows him during the summer, where he was on a cut in order to show off his musculature. He now weighs 260 pounds, and while he has a fair bit of body fat now, he is incredibly strong. His voice is deep, but it lacks any real edge - similar to what someone would expect from an old time radio announcer.

While his older sister and brother skipped two grades (his brother even getting a scholarship from an ivy league school), Brad had always been below average academically. Even his younger sister, a middle schooler, has an easier time doing algebra than he does. As such, Brad was always seen as different from his siblings, and while they didn't feel that way, Brad always thought that they were disappointment in him. He lived his early elementary school years trying to hide his report cards and always hiding when the school calls home because of his grades.
It wasn't until he saw his father's football trophies when he realized that there was something he could try and go after, to prove himself. Every day, he would do body weight workouts and after a few months, he finally worked up the courage to ask his father to join the elementary school football team. Very rapidly, it was shown that Brad was very big for a kid his age - he was positive that football was his way to become popular and liked.
Brad adopted his "Nice guy" persona the first year of middle school. By this point, he had gone to dozens of games, and he was rapidly getting a big sense of pride. It wasn't until his second year of middle school that he lost a game, against the strongest team in that years league - the West Side Middle Tigers. The final score was 20-8. It was the final game of the season, and the loss had easily shattered Brad's sense of invincibility. His father was of course disappointment, but he never raised his voice or got angry with Brad. For some reason, that only made Brad feel worse.
It was then that he decided - if he ever lost as badly as he did that day, Brad would give up on football. More losses came, but the wins always exceeded them, and all the losses were extremely close. Brad's relationship with his siblings and parents grew better by the day, and his younger sister looked up to him as a role model. After winning a state game in his sophomore year of High school on the football team, Brad's father bought him a used truck, a precious tool that Brad treats with the utmost care. Now, it was time to start his Junior year.

Appearance:
Brody stands at about 5’9 with an athletic build although he hides his physicality under loose fitting clothing. His skin is tanned both from spending a good amount of time outdoors and a refusal to put on sun screen, like ever. His shaggy brown hair is a wild mop that’s almost always hidden under a hat and seems to be almost untamable. His eyes are bright blue and he’s got big broad smile. He’s got a few scars, one along his left forearm from a bad break, another over his right eyebrow from a gnarly wipeout, and has broken quite a few bones in his time, a cast of some kind seems to be almost an accessory for him. As for clothing, he shops almost exclusively at thrift stores, and a lot of times goes to ones in the nicer part of town to find better stuff. He prefers jeans, usually a little loose fitting; it can be hard to always find your exact size when you only buy second hand, t-shirts, and hoodies. As for accessories, other than casts and injuries, he’s almost always in a hat and with a skateboard.
Personality:
“The saddest people smile the brightest.” -Author Unknown. Words that can kind of sum up Brody. As a man who has gone through a lot in his short time he manages to always look on the bright side; as long as he’s still alive there’s always a chance for things to get better. He’s no quitter; hard work and perseverance have gotten him far in life, and he’s more than willing to put his all into something he cares about. He doesn’t take shit, and won’t stand by and watch others take it either; Brody is more than willing to stand up for anyone he sees getting bullied even if it means taking a beating, he has, after all, been through worse. He won’t hesitate to back a friend up in a fight either. Although he hates to admit that he has that side to him, Brody likes to fight and he has a quick temper. His willingness to resort to violence sometimes worries him, mostly that he’ll be like his father and ending up like him is his biggest fear.
Overall at school he seems happy go lucky, he likes to joke around and have a good time. Brody never appears to take anything other than skating seriously. He doesn’t care to burden others with his problems, and can’t stand being the guest of honor at a pity party. He plays everything off like it’s no big deal, he keeps a lot of things bottled up and generally has a very unhealthy way of dealing with life. Growing up he was deprived of attention a lot, which lead to him absolutely craving it, he’s willing to do almost anything for attention from his peers, even if it’s dangerous or makes him look stupid, it’s better than nothing. This tendency can lead to him coming off as annoying or immature to those around him.
He's never been comfortable completely letting his guard down with anyone, a lot of people have let him down in his life and so keeping people just far away enough that it’s okay to lose them just makes sense to him. He doesn’t often give second chances to those who’ve let him down and doesn’t trust anyone lightly. Questioning authority is basically a reflex for him at this point, adults have always failed him and trouble is attention. He hates being treated like he’s stupid. He hates anyone who grew up too easy, rich kids, seeing them as spoiled and entitled. He hates anyone who he sees as a bully. While he tries to be a good person, stand up for those who need it, ultimately he has a lot of hate and anger in him and fighting or skating seems to be the only release for that.
History:
“I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth!” -The Who (Substitute). Words that Brody can certainly relate too, growing up in one of the poorer areas of the city and raised by an alcoholic father, and a depressed, and pill addict mother, didn’t give him the easiest of upbringings. His mother worked as waitress, she was rarely home before his bedtime and saw her for maybe an hour a day if he was lucky. His father was constantly losing jobs mainly because of his heavy drinking. As a kid, he was always starving for attention, trying so hard for his parents to notice him at all but they were either too busy or too fucked up on something. He ended up spending a lot of time with his older cousin Zack who was a bit of a skate punk himself. Zack bought him his first skateboard when he was six and taught him everything he knew and it wasn’t long before a young Brody was out-skating kids twice his age.
His life changed when he was twelve, found his mom hanging in the bathroom overdosed on pills. He’s more than certain it was intentional; she’d taken way too many for it to have been accidental and she’d been gone far too long for the paramedics to do anything. He does feel guilty about how long it took him too call 911, but he’d been frozen in shock for a long while at the sight of his mother, blue, and lying lifeless on the bathroom floor. His dad blames him, he waited too long, if he hadn’t been such an idiot they could’ve brought her back and sometimes he really believes that. His dad got worse after that, drank more, got violent, and normally took out his anger on Brody whose hospital visits were often assumed to be from skateboarding.
Brody was a scrawny weird kid, picked on all the time for being poor, being weird, and for because back then he was just such an easy target. Eventually it inspired him to work out, he was going to make sure he wasn’t such an easy target, that he would be capable to fight back, against bullies and his father. By the time he reached high school Brody was capable of defending himself. His family business he keeps to himself, the other kids don’t know how his mom died and back then he went to a completely different school anyway. People who ask get told it was a car accident, and he tries not talk about his dad but most people know he’s a drunk just from gossip. He keeps all the times they’ve been evicted, eaten at soup kitchens, or stayed in shelters to himself, he already gets shit for being poor no reason to make that worse.
Brody likes to work out at the school gym, in fact he looks for just about any reason not to go home; never knowing what mood he’ll find his dad in, or whether or not they’ll be another eviction notice on the door. For a while he could crash with his cousin Zack but a couple years ago, his cousin went to prison; stabbed someone over a drug dispute guess he wasn’t quite the role mode Brody thought he was. For money, his dad collects some welfare and every now and then has a job, Brody works at a skate shop and sells weed and occasionally other “party drugs” to help out but generally stays away from anything too hard.
As for school, Brody usually has more pressing matters on his mind than homework or studying; like if he’s gonna have any dinner or even a place to sleep, so his grades aren’t great usually in the C or D range, passing by the skin of his teeth. He’s not dumb or lazy though, he wishes he could do better and actually really likes his science, english, and history classes. He feels destined to end up in shit jobs like his parents, he doesn’t really think he has the grades or money for college, but sometimes dreams about what it would be like to have a job that really matters; maybe a scientist or lawyer or a teacher. He’d like to make a difference in the world, be something better than his humble beginnings.
Other:
Absolutely loves classic rock, punk, ska, hip-hop, reggae, metal, and grunge music. Catcher in the Rye is both his favorite novels and one of the few he's even read more than once. He'll eat just about anything and will finish your food if you're not going to eat it. Brody loves hot sauce and will put it on almost anything. He'll do stupid stuff to impress people, especially girls; once at lunch he ate a Carolina Reaper and spent the rest of lunch puking in the trash and violently hiccuping until he was sent home. Most people think he's cheap as he tries not to let on just how poor his family is, and will try and avoid spending money things while at the same time he refuses to accept handouts. He hates math class, staying still for too long, and he's terrified of needles. He'd chose weed over booze anytime, though it took him a while to be able to try alcohol after so many years of seeing what it had done to his father, but now a days he's willing to indulge a little. He works at a skate shop a couple days a week, mostly for the discount and the chance to talk to people as obsessed with skating as he is and makes decent money selling mostly weed and the occasionally other "party drug."
More than anything thought, Brody loves skating, it's almost like the only therapy he's ever had. Skating is meditation; focusing his mind only on the present, the action and the muscle memory, his escape from thinking or worrying about his life and future. It taught him that when you fall you get back up and keep going and that there is reward in that. It gave him an identity, friends, and people he could be himself around. Without it he'd be much worse off, and he might not have had an outlet or escape. Any day he doesn't have a chance to skate is hard for him, he gets restless, temperamental, and makes it so much harder to deal with things. It's not just a hobby for him, it's his lifeline, the one constant thing he's had that makes things better.

Personality: Irene, who was advised by her parents her name was derived from the world of Sherlock Holmes, has tried to understand the world the same way her namesake has. By observing, understanding, and reacting to it. The results in her often not speaking much, but listening the world around her.
She realized her observations gave her a great insight into art, often painting things she's not exactly sure how to say. Often commenting on subjects she's experienced, witnessed, or even things she wants to understand for herself. Losing her mother at a young age resulted in her often becoming absorbed in other worlds, books, art, and lately graffiti. Choosing to take her messages to people who can see the beauty in her art, even if they choose not to go to a gallery.
Often has gotten herself into trouble with the adults who believe art should be one thing, and she needs to have a specific message. Irene's message was simple, she liked painting beautiful things...and if it gave people hope with just that, she was fine.
History: Irene grew up the child of a Librarian and a Comic book artist. So she was exposed to countless forms of literature, and art, so naturally when she started to do her own art. Her parents were only ecstatic to encourage it. She loved the idea of art creating these fantastic worlds where anything is possible. Her positive outlook was always something her peers found endearing about the fledgling artist.
Then the accident happened, and her attitude changed. Her mother was lost in the car crash and Irene just kind of drifted. Her outlook became much more withdrawn, often listening to instead of suggesting. Her father wasn't much help, he just went through the motions. Leaving Irene to try and keep the household going. She lost her gallery opportunities, the administrator politely telling Irene she just wasn't conveying anything worth saying.
Irene took that advice to heart, the next day, painting a furious muse on the gallery wall. Needless to say, the gallery banned her and blacklisted her in their town going forward from any showings. Her father, deciding to start again in a new town packed Irene up and moved. Yet Irene found something in street art that the gallery didn't let her feel, angry, she'd continue to paint the angry muses in their new town. She just made sure nobody caught her this time..
Her positive attitude began to slowly return, even painting on canvas' once again. Yet, the angry muses still appeared through her new town. Her father hopes maybe she'll eventually quit going her nightly "paint the town every color" activities before she's caught...

Unlike what one might expect, after making this discovery about herself, Calien only withdrew more. While she was more confident in who she was inside, anxiety about her social life only grew. This anxiety led her to avoid building relationships deeper than the surface level. That leaves out dating completely, of course. Her plan is to wait until she’s publicly out of the closet before trying to get close to anyone.
Her home life, again, she keeps a secret, but it may have been part of the reason for the death of her social life. Why else would she be so cagey about it, right?

For a good portion of her life, Calien was a pretty normal kid, if a bit introverted. Really, the biggest problem she had to deal with was the fact that, back then, she was a he. She never really felt like she related to the boys she knew, and being called a boy didn’t feel quite right. She pretty much ignored her feelings until she was in middle school, when she learned that being transgender was a thing. Suddenly, it all made sense.
Unlike what one might expect, after making this discovery about herself, Calien only withdrew more. While she was more confident in who she was inside, anxiety about her social life only grew. This anxiety led her to avoid building relationships deeper than the surface level. That leaves out dating completely, of course. Her plan is to wait until she’s publicly out of the closet before trying to get close to anyone.
Her home life, again, she keeps a secret, but it may have been part of the reason for the death of her social life. Why else would she be so cagey about it, right?

Wow, I'm so tempted to join this just so I can relive high school as the bitchy mean girl I always wanted to be! I mean, to be fair, I WAS a mean girl but only towards the gross boys I went to school with. And I don't even think that really counts.

Tanner feels like he has an image to uphold. Being the captain of the football team, and the local pastor's son, a lot of eyes are on him. Mostly, the eyes of his peers, and his teammates. Being quite religious, though, he feels like he holds himself to a certain standard. As a result, he doesn't like his teammates or any of his other friends being assholes. Tanner is actually very sweet and caring, though because of some of the ruder jocks he hangs around, almost nobody thinks he is. He doesn't bother with fighting the rumors either, because he feels like there's better things he could be doing. Like keeping up with his grades, or practicing football.
Tanner will speak up when his friends are being assholes, especially if things get physical. Surprisingly, even though he's captain of the football team, he blends into the background among his fellow teammates. He's more on the quiet side, though he has a funny and witty side. He can be a very playful and charming individual, the one reason he's such a good captain. He's able to connect with people, and it helps that he's good with words and at communication.
He's also very driven and determined. Once he puts his mind to something, he won't quit until it's done. He does not procrastinate at all. He hates waiting to finish something that needs to be done. As a result, he's academically successful, and responsible. He's always on time, and most of the time, early to everything. He's pretty sure of himself, but there is some doubt and insecurity, because of his sexuality and religion. Once he feels attracted to a guy, he'll try to avoid that guy at all costs. Which is hard, since some of his teammates are very cute. It's a struggle.
If Tanner sees somebody upset, or struggling with something, he won't hesitate to help. He doesn't care who is around or who sees. He feels like his place on Earth is to be a good person, and part of that is caring about others. He tries his best to do the right thing, but everybody makes mistakes. He tries to not get hung up on the fact he's attracted to guys, but his pastor father does sometimes get into his head, and he wonders if something is wrong with him. He'll deny vehemently that he's gay, fearing that maybe, God won't love him. The weird thing is, he accepts everybody else, but he struggles to accept himself. He tries really hard to not "act gay" or to be straight, so, he may go along with gross comments about girls/women his teammates make, or even make some himself. He never feels proud afterward, but he fears somebody finding out the truth.

Tanner looks like the charming boy next door type. He has a boyish smile and grin, his eyes always smiling along with his mouth. He stands at an even 6'0, with broad shoulders and a small waist, giving him a dorito-shaped torso. He's very fit and lean because of playing football for most of his life, and his skin is an almost contact tan color. He has short, dirty blonde hair that he parts to the side, his bangs fluffing enough that they never touch his forehead. He has shocking blue eyes, only being made more noticeable by his long, dark eyelashes and his light-colored eyebrows.
Tanner likes to wear jeans, graphic-tees, button-ups, hoodies, and sneakers. He almost always has his varsity jacket on, no matter the weather. Sometimes, he'll go without it, but it's rare. When he was eight, his mother gave birth to a girl, giving him a little sister named Tabitha. She prefers Tabby but Tanner likes to call her Tabitha to poke fun at her. They even have a golden retriever. The only thing they lack is a white picket fence. Obviously, Tanner grew up in a very religious household. They went to church every Sunday and he watched his father spit words of fire and brimstone, they prayed before every meal, and before they went to bed. They were involved in every church program, and Tanner went to Sunday school three nights a week.

He has read the Bible more times than he count, and what he has taken away from it is that God is loving and accepting.
