Kanbaru Otoko

So the pair of them waited. And waited. And waited some more, only to find a single adversary rather then a fated pair. Kanbaru accepted this fact with a curt nod to herself, before affixing her sights to Wither and firing without a word spoken to her partner.

It was nothing personal. Just that the very thought of the likes of Touka and Chie at her house conjured images of inevitable slumber parties and crashing on her couch once they got it into their heads that her place was open for them to crash. They'd justify it somehow in their heads and frankly it was a headache Kanbaru would avoid to the detriment of her enemies.

"My couch is for renters only!" Kanbaru barked, her shots scattering over the long distance and striking the ice, causing violent eruptions of frozen spikes to jut out in all directions where they impact. Each new impact caused the crystalline formations to further expand, creating a jagged minefield before her in seconds.

“That’s just how Miso City is. The folktales say that it’s sitting on lands impregnated with powerful spiritual forces, but the truth is that...” Luna made a pause sighing as she sheathed her weapons before continuing, “that’s just how this place is. Don’t put too much thought into it and you’ll be all right.”

The blonde dismissed her transformation, shivering a bit as the coldness of the early evening caught up with her again.

“Well, we wouldn’t be able to see one another while we were transformed if we weren’t, right?” Luna replied to Yui’s question as a witty smile graced her lips.

“It’s my pleasure. I’m Luna Tsukuyomi, a first-year student at Miso High,” she introduced herself with a small, courteous bow. “And my… rough friend here is Soma Ikka,” Luna added, gesturing towards Soma.

“If you don’t mind, can we continue this conversation at a warmer place? We were about to enjoy a nice serving of fresh udon. You are more than welcome to join us,” she said as she turned around and cast a glance at what seemed like the first of many snowflakes that would extend their stark blanket over Miso City on that night.

Somewhere far away from the hills of Old Miso City, another magical girl stared at the same falling snow with her lips twisted in a quizzical grin.

“If that’s the problem, I don’t mind taking the bed,” Black Shot shouted back after her partner’s voice tore her attention away from the frozen precipitation and whatever ephemeral thoughts occupied her mind until now.

After she said her piece, the dark-haired magical girl stopped for a moment, considering whether or not to abandon her assigned post and join Kanbaru’s fight. Instead of doing so, and potentially upsetting her partner, she decided to observe from her current position, waiting either for an upcoming ambush, or opportunity to sweep in cleanly whenever Kelly lowered her guard.

Ami Murota

Ami watched the battle between the other two teams with interest as she chewed on her caramel, but her attention was quickly caught by the shy call of their club president. She smirked as she heaved her broadsword over her shoulder, staring at Touka with anticipation as she announced the arrival of a new team. A hint of mania entered her eyes when Touka's partner stepped up next to her, boasting of her strength. "Easy win? Now why would I want that? The only real fun when I crush people is when they put up a decent struggle!" The fire in her eyes was lit, she needed to battle these two now.

"I've always wanted to see if you had the strength to back up your position ya know? When I win do I get to be club president?" Ami asked as she cracked her neck, motioning for Maiko to get ready. She swallowed the remainder of the caramel audibly, sighing as she began to walk over to the forest trails. "I'll try not to start a forest fire, but no guarantees. You know me, when I get in the mood, there's no telling how the sparks will fly." Indeed, even now the air around her seemed more intense than usual, visibly distorting around her like a desert mirage. As Ami walked to the battleground, her partner would notice her giggling like a maniac as she swung her broadsword in the air a few times. Flames began to dance along the blade, already glowing a dull orange as she eyed her opponents.

It seemed that Kanbaru was going to punish Wither for every step she took to close, which would probably have been deadly against some of the other girls, including the old days when she was Amazon. The good news was, she actually had a ranged game these days. Trying to restrict the enemy's movement doesn't really work when I can drop you from where I stand, idiot. Wither quickly conjured a ball of sickness energy and flung it at her icy opponent, hoping to break through whatever defenses she conjured and move on. She couldn't win a war of attrition two-on-one, so she'd have to try and blow through her enemies quickly.

Her target, for that was all Wither was not that the fight began in earnest, didn't seem keen on closing the distance. Even as her bullets rained down and great spines of ice rose and splintered into a crystalline pine forest of razor sharp edges and impaling spines, Wither was content to respond at range in kind. The difference however became clear in the distance they fought and the speed of their projectiles, as the Icy Magical Girl saw the orb of decay coming and sharply stepped to the side, evading it with casual disdain as it slammed into the lamp post.

With it's light flickering off as the metal corroded enough for the internal wiring to die it seemed keen to snap under it's weight and fall, Chie and all. Fortuna glanced at her sedentary companion and took this as an opportunity to force her into action. Her gunfire paused briefly and she whirled back, the heel of her boot striking the corroded metal to snap the pole into two, only for her magic to raise a column of ice sharply against the jagged end and launch both pole and rider in Wither's direction. Though admittedly Kanbaru didn't put much thought about flinging her partner into a field of razors, but she assumed Chie had a landing strategy.

"N-No, I don't think that's how it...works..." Touka's words trailed off much like Ami did, the girl already disappearing into the dark forest. Since the lake was taken, this was to be their battlefield for the night. With little else to say, Touka glanced over at her own partner before following suit, still shivering from the evening's cold. Only when they each reached a large enough clearing for their bout did Touka sigh out a hot breath into the night air. "R-Right then. I g-guess you don't need me to help you out at the start, right?" She asked this to Alannah; before she could get an answer, Touka had already leapt up to a nearby tree branch, dangling precariously from the height. "T-Then let's have a good time, everyone!" she said, though it was clear she had no real intention of throwing down. Yet.

Alannah barely paid attention to the exacts about what Ami was saying, let alone Touka's replies. She most certainly heard the words and her trying to sound confident, but in one ear out the other as they say. A smirk was already plastered on her face as she turned following Touka to where the fun was gonna happen. Of course, to let them know what's gonna happen, she gave a quick peace sign after turning and let her own remarks fly. "Wishing you luck would be good, but why wish for something that can't help ya two?" Not too long after, they reached a nicely large clearing. It seemed like the place was more or less abandoned to a degree, which is for the best. Less green meant less chance of fire stick starting a brushfire by accident. Stopping as she looked back towards her soon-to-be defeated classmates, it was easy to see her hand was already glowing. As her partner took more tactical measures towards the fight, Alannah didn't look at her, only turning to face Ami and Maiko. "Who wants a piece first?" She said, the tats on her palms finally giving off those familiar little streams. And after came the magic show tune and transformation number, for 45 seconds appearance of the longer haired magical girl herself, as she gave said hair a flick with her hand. Tattoos glowing with power and extended, it looked like the hammer finally dropped. "Who knows? Ya might actually-"

That smug attitude, Ami absolutely loved it. She would love driving it into the dirt even more. Alannah was in the middle of saying something when Ami exploded into action, quite literally as fire erupted from her feet and pushed her towards the girl with the tattoos. "Talk is cheap!" She swung her blade out at Alannah, a wave of fire erupting towards her as Ami suddenly stopped and burst to the left, using the wave of fire as a cover to try and strike from an unexpected angle.Boom, boom, boom, every few seconds Ami was changing direction to make it as hard as possible to keep up with her movements. Suddenly, one more burst. This time Ami was coming straight at Alannah from the left, her sword swinging down at her from above while Ami laughed. "Speak with your actions, unless you find your mouth planted firmly to your own ass!" In other words? Kiss your ass goodbye.

It rushed through her body like a virus, tearing open skin and flesh as the black carapace, the armored growth that was at once organic and inorganic, formed over her. It all turned to ash, from ashen hair to ashen eyes, and under the night sky, even what flesh remained on her face became ashen. A twisted metamorphosis, so far removed from the beautiful transformations of the children who still played nice, but it felt at home with Maiko. Something real. Something concrete. Something painful. No wind. No light. No love.

Maiko stepped into the clearing, an Asura in all but divinity, her hair trailing like a ghost behind her. A part of her wanted to poke some fun at Ami’s manic giggles, or how being the president of the club wasn’t even a good thing to begin with, considering all the administrative bullshit Touka had to drag her face through, but a larger part of her was now colder. Freezing over in a way that only time could. She breathed, smiled, and clenched her fists, the only response to the pre-fight trashtalking. It wasn’t hot enough yet, not fiery and dangerous enough to spark her imagination and set her pierced heart ablaze.

The Black Knight was fast, but Asura was faster, crossing through space in a silent second to appear behind Stained Scatha. As the swordswoman set the world ablaze with her hellfire, the martial artist’s fist was already tearing a vacuum through space, towards the ink-mage’s spine.

It seems that trying to show a bit showsmanship, mostly for the inky girl's own benefit, doesn't always work out as planned. Before anything could be said after "actually," Ami rushed her, telling her that her little sentences were for nothing. Immediately, she had her ink shape and shift to come forward to defend her from getting the blade through her. That was, until a second surprise came to make her now annoyed face go into shock. The black coming from her barely reacted in time as a second fist from Maiko, now Asura, nearly slammed into her back. Cracks were even forming in the shield, what with them not able to be made more solid in time to give her a more proper defense. As her friendly little bodyguard kept her spine safe, Stained Scatha had a more difficult problem in front of her as she caught the sword, using two large inked blades to stop it a few steps in front of her. Usually this would just mean "beat the hell out of em" except it's hard for that ink to do when it's being weakened not by a regular sword, but by a flaming sword. The ink was quickly getting weakened, the only saving grace being that it's particular density let it stay together long enough. It seemed like those two weren't going to hesitate to go for the throat and take their win...But that didn't bother her.

What did bother her, however, was the sheer insult of what they did. Attacking and name calling are fine, it comes with the territory. But interrupting her just to get a blow? No, no, not a single person is gonna be allowed to cut her off. They even had the neve of a sneak attack at the same time. No one is allowed something this ridiculuous. Her face and brain quickly cycled through emotions after each event. When she was talking? A proud happiness. Ami attacking? Annoyed surprise. Nearly getting a broken back? Shock. Realizing how they disrespected her? A face slowly contorting to teeth gritting rage...before relaxing with a chuckle. Fine, the game's begun. Time to enjoy it, no? "You'e actually right. Good reminder course you did there. So how about my own lesson for you two?" The ink stopped blocking both attacks in mere fractions of a second, before letting out an explosion of inked energy to send the duo flying from her, and give her time to show them her lesson.

The ink flowed under her, gathering as they made a pillar going upwards. The shape seemed rather intricate despite it being thin and quite a few feet in the air. As it did, it was joined by two giant shifting inky tendrils. Her smile was right back as she rose up in the air, looking down at the two combatants. The pillar was very quickly done shaping as she crossed her legs over another and extended her arms. The tendrils turned into large hands, soon becoming large fists, while the top of the pillar became a black throne for its redheaded creator. The hands extended upwards over the two girls as she rose her own arms. "You never disrespect your queen." Her fists went down, and so did her newly made ones.

Ami flew backwards from the force of the blast, she flipped a few times in midair before stabbing her sword into the ground. She skidded to a halt rather quickly, the flames of the blade instantly turning the snow into steam as she glared at Alannah with a vicious smile. Her gaze flickered to Maiko for a moment, checking her over for injuries, before she refocused on Alannah. Good, she was taking this seriously. If she had done anything less than Ami would have torn her to pieces like a wet paper towel. As the ink gathered beneath Alannah, Ami crouched slightly, almost in an bestial fashion as she bared her teeth in a vicious and malicious grin. The pillar finished forming and Ami's smile quickly morphed into a frown. A throne. How... ornate.

"If you don't take this seriously, we're going to tear you apart you know?" Alannah's fists slammed down and Ami burst into action once more, her instincts screamed at her to press onward but she knew it was the incorrect choice. Instead she jumped to the side, slashing at the fist as it came down at her to try and destroy it. Ami could already see the flow of the fight. If she moved towards the throne, she opened herself up for more attacks from the ink that comprised the throne. However staying on the defense would get them nowhere, so something needed to be done to get Alannah back on the defense. She looked at Maiko, then looked at a nearby tree. Maiko, tree. Maiko. Tree. If you looked closely you could practically see the lightbulb flickering to life above Ami's head as she rushed over to a nearby tree and chopped it in half with one swing. Another quick movement and she was behind it, kicking it towards Alannah with all the force she could muster.

"Climb!" She shouted at Maiko as the tree slowly began to tip towards the throne, quickly throwing out another wave of flame at Alannah to pester her while Maiko continued the combo.

Maiko did not climb.

Gravity, after all, was much too slow for a fighter like herself, and the telegraph of those hulking ink hammers even more so. Perhaps it would have been cute to play along, to set up a scene, to dodge that blow in a meaningfully dramatic fashion but in a situation like this, where her blood still hadn’t heated up, where her opponents were still playing so cleanly, Asura had no intention of going along with theatrics. Her blood was still cold. She couldn’t get it all the way up.

So she teleported again, nary a word or a gesture before she presented herself before the queen. Her form was unscratched from the ink explosion and her countenance was unbothered by whatever grand pedestal Scatha had raised herself upon. No pause this time, and no single strike. With the efficacy of a barbarian, she clenched her fists and delivered twelve blows within three heartbeats.

In all honesty, she wasn't really expecting them to get hit by her hands. They moved fast enough to take care of most, but it was fairly obvious that the hands were just a few paces too slow to take them out. Instead, they rose back up from where they smashed with just lumps of snow attached to them and puddles of ink where they once were. The one going for Black Knight was cut rather badly up however, which with the fire sadly meant a large part of its power was now lost. It simply melted into a puddle that slinked back into the pillar, though it didn't seem to increase in size much. A lost hand didn't mean much in the grand scheme, but it was annoying. As the fists came down however, she had one more separate idea. That spine punch easily showed Asura would be a bad experience if she got too close, which she could easily just do with another teleport. Well...What would a warrior on their throne be without armor. Ink from the throne began to cover her body as she prepared for the next inevitable strike. On one side, Black Knight seemed to be rather wrapped up due to being kept at a range. With the armor too, advantage would be right back in her hands and staying there with them both running or getting hit. Advantage and victory would easily be in her hand.

"Climb" was the simple word that ruined nearly the whole plan.

Hearing this word didn't surprise or worry Stained Scatha much, as all she had to do was extend either the pillar like a spike and take out...whatever she was going to climb on, or just spike up the pillar if she was really climbing it. No, it was the wave of fire right after that threw it all in disarray. The armor wasn't completely hardened and thick yet to resist the heat better, so portions of it simply faded away. Worse, the heat of it hit her eyes, distracting her for just one simple second. It was all the other girl needed. Her eyes opened up to see clenched fists come towards her. "Oh fu-!" The ink and her both tried to bind the arms near immediately to try and stop the oncoming onslaught. While it did work, it wasn't a clean stop. 4 blows overall had hit. 2 were to her left leg, which wasn't too detrimental as she had alternatives to walking on an injured leg. It was the 2 to the stomach that nearly did her in there and then. Spit flew out. The wind ripped right out of her felt horrible...But it wouldn't stop her. Not that easily. She gritted her teeth as she looked back to where the flame girl shouted...To see a tree coming at her. Oh joy

Wait, [i[actually oh joy indeed as she smiled at the tree thrower. "Thanks for the assist." The ink throne collapsed into a puddle as she let herself fall at a good enough angle. At the same time, she pushed and chucked the armored girl right toward the incoming tree, with Scatha being just out of the way of its path. Of course, why stop there? She wanted her to be serious after all. Falling still, she shot off 3 black blasts right at Asura and the tree. To break her fall, two tar-like spider legs sprouted from her back to keep her from hitting the floor and getting even more beat up, though she stumbled a moment catching herself. She panted from the blow still, but she was far from done. The ink covered her up as it helped her descend back to the ground. Her face also changed, now with a far more...menacingly happy grin. They turned to tentacles in seconds, going high up to prevent aerial attacks, forming a circle almost water-splash-like shape around her, and staying close to stop anymore teleporting surprises. She scoffed, also saying a word in a different language. Those who miracously did know would know it's the gaelic word for "bitch." "Your 'serious' is pathetic." Most of the new "arms" of Scatha flailed wildly to prevent and discourage anyone moving in, but a few in the front decided to be less spastic. 2 of them turned into what could best be called petals like a flower and shot a pair of ink blasts towards the Black Knight, while 4 others tentacles sprang at lightning speed towards her as well, arched in a way to try and make dodging from the front very, very difficult. And as they did, the remaining ink tried to recover and shape into armor once more.

Ami roared as her flames burned ever brighter, the heat of her flames melting the snow around her and instantly turning it into a smokescreen. The ink blasts shot through the smokescreen, however they came out the other side and just hit a few trees. The four tentacles would whip into the smoke screen, but Ami had no intention of dodging these. No, far from it. Ami leapt towards them as a matter of fact, taking the hit from one while she sliced at the others. She hit the ground rolling, but once again she was on her feet within seconds as she stared at Alannah. Another swing of the sword, another wave of flame, the snow along the ground melting at a rapid pace and slowly filling up the area with fog. Ami burst forward once more, uncaring of any tentacles that lashed out at her. She would simply smash them to pieces, every single one as she ran straight for Stained Scatha. For that was the essence of the Black Knight. To charge head first at her problems, burning down anything between her and that which she sought to behead... Not that she was trying to behead her in this case... well maybe just a little. What? She was feeling fired up!

Speaking of being fired up, the flames that had encompassed her sword were definitely burning much brighter than they had been at the beginning of the battle. Everything about Ami seemed brighter, probably because she was on fire. The Black Knight rode, her flames ready to torch the little girl before her. "YES! MUCH BETTER, GET ME FIRED UP!" A pillar of flame erupted from underneath her, sending her straight up into the air as she swung her sword wildly in Stained Scatha's direction. Three waves of flame flew at her from above, hopefully Maiko would be able to capitalize on this distraction like she had before.

"Look at you getting worked up. Get too flashy and you'll lose your focus in all the fighting." Knowing damn well Scatha would be hard-pressed in dodging direct blows from the Black Knight, her body would be yanked away backwards by an invisible force. A strength she could not resist, it would serve to effectively shove her out of the way from Ami's flames and sword slashes, skidding among the snow. The one responsible still lounged on her tree branch, although, Touka's form had changed dramatically. It was rare for the Detention Club President to participate in active combat so she wouldn't have been too surprised if this was the first time some of her peers had seen her magical uniform. All the same, her demeanor had changed to fit the situation and the smirking face of Red Wire greeted them in the snowy night.

Gone was the stuttering school girl, shark-like teeth now gleaming in the lowlight of the forest. "Careful Ami-chan. I was talking to both of you," Red Wire called out from her tree, noting that Scatha had finally halted upon the snow, a safe distance away from her attacker. The same couldn't be said for the Black Knight, who was charging directly into an unseen trap. "Like I said, get too flashy, and you'll wind up losing your head in all this," Red Wire mused, knowing full well of the string set in place between two trees, waiting for Ami to continue her charge. And with her momentum already locked in, it was only a matter of time before she'd decapitate herself using her own speed and motion. Assuming her partner was kind enough to do something about it after all, Red Wire glancing over at Battoru.

Repelled once more, Maiko tucked herself into a ball, somersaulting through the air before catching herself against the falling tree. Two toes grasped onto the bark with enough force to fracture it and dig into the flesh of the severed tree itself, and, every muscle in her leg becoming taut, the Asura used the wooden club as an extension of her own foot. It shattered into a million pieces as inkwell blasts tore its form, as its base slammed against the black barrier of Scatha. But for a transient moment, those countless slivers shone silver against the moonlight and the snowbanks.

Silver, not ashen, the final reminiscence of the holy sword and the resolve found in unbroken shadows.

She closed her eyes. Felt the second transformation, the beating of her heart, the quickening of her pulse, the fourth player finally making herself known. And with a blink, a flash, Asura reappeared behind Scatha as she was hurled away from the Black Knight by a single, nigh-invisible wire. Not her fist this time, but her elbow, supported by a foundation that drew strength from the earth itself. A flurry of snow burst as impact was made, but already, the silver haired was gone again, a high kick in motion to strike, no, throw Ami skywards. The black sun belonged to a black night, after all. And as for herself…

The first stance of Kamogawa-Style Martial Arts, The Magic Bullet.

Open palms faced downwards as her arms intersected, one foot balanced on the thin, thin wire as the other rested against the hollow of her knee. Her eyes opened with the veneer of a god of war, and she smiled.

“Hey, Touka.”

Most might be shocked to suddenly be carried away, but Scatha just had an annoyed expression on her face as she flew away against her will. Her ink quickly moved along with her, as if trying to make sure she was fine. It also seemed a certain nuisance was on the move again. With just a sigh and eye roll, she made a fist over her shoulder and behind her back, though it was open where the fingers and palm met, making an O. A large broadsword formed itself right behind her, near instantly, as she felt it take the blow of a familiar elbow. Getting predictable She thought as Asura reappeared to seemingly get her teammate safer and get another blow on her. Once she finally stopped, that's when the broadsword was brought into an actual fighting stance as more ink poured in to fix the cracks. The rest of the ink settled as she ceased control of it momentarily. She didn't even need to look or have the girl talk to know who was responsible for the save. But she had other problems to deal with for a second.

Her aggressive and wide smirk was back as she sprung herself a nice pair of wings from her back. One flap from them sent dozens upon dozens of small but highly concentrated, dense ink bullets right at Black Knight. So many distractions for one girl could get her pretty badly harmed, as she was about to find out. Scatha levitated slightly in the air as she began flapping her wings preemptively, ready to move where she needed. Her ink also followed back to her location, like a puppy going back to their owner almost. Oddly adorable actually. It surrounded her again in the same tentacle circle from previously.

"Sure. Coming from the girl who loves ninja entrances." She said as she kept switching looks between Asura and Black Knight. "Ey, miss ninja nerd?" She said, giving a giggle at her friend. Even in danger, there always had to be a little bit of teasing. Especially when Touka started it. It'd probably be a little funnier for everyone involved if she hadn't casually sent off another, much stronger blast at Asura from her sword beforehand, cutting her right off at the "Hey-" and the smile. Then another one right after that one just to really show she wasn't wanting to deal with her. If they wanted to interrupt her, they'll expect the same shit back. At least once. Her smile was still distinctly playful despite this though. "Besides, flashy's too much fun, anyway." It was hidden well in the way she spoke, but Scatha was prepared for any more shenanigans from these two. Why make it easier to read what she might do?

The Black Knight and Asura were in perfect sync really. When Ami got in over her head, Maiko would be there to pull her out of danger, or in this case kick. When Maiko got in over her head, Ami would be there to pull her out of danger, quite literally in this case. Ami twisted in midair, feet angled to the sky as another pillar of flame burst from her feet to send her rocketing towards Maiko. The many ink bullets would find themselves cut in half quickly, some getting glancing hits on the Black Knight. She pulled Maiko out of the way of the blast and tossed her into the air, Ami continuing to rocket towards the tree Touka lounged in. She did a quick flip, angling her legs towards the trunk of the tree to setup for more aerial acrobatics. She was not there long, launching herself away from the tree and towards Scatha with explosive force, beginning the process of the tree burning down.

However this time Ami was prepared for any interference from Maiko, coating herself in fire to burn away any invisible wires Maiko tried to set up to decapitate her.

The flames coated every inch of her skin, its warmth made her blood boil hotter and hotter. The Black Knight was fire incarnate, nothing could stop her from raging out of control. The heat emanating from her also had the unintended side effect of whipping the wind around her into a frenzy, hot air rising with cold air quickly replacing it, only to be heated up further by the Black Knight's inferno. Ami's hair whipped out about wildly in the wind as she closed the distance between herself and Scatha, meanwhile Scatha would find her wings assailed by those same winds that tore through the area. While it wasn't enough to throw her out of the air, it would certainly require some measure of attention to keep herself steady in midair.

Regardless of what happened, Ami would reach Scatha quickly. Her sword swung upwards from the left, looking to bisect the Magical Girl diagonally with all the force Ami could muster. Her smile couldn't possibly be any wider, this was the most fun she had had in months!

The massive influx of fire and ink was a lovely reminder to Touka why she hardly got involved. This was all getting too dramatic, too noisy, and overall too flashy for her to be dealing with. In both responses from her partner and Battoru-assuming the latter girl could finish her sentence-she gave a frown. "Can I assume you're looking to fight me?" she called down to Maiko, the two staring at each other. "Honestly, this is way too crowded and I didn't think this'd be drawn out for this long. But at least you're not causing a ruckus and trying to one-up the others," she mused further. "I'm a little envious of that. Don't know if I can say the same for me...."

As she said this, Touka's gaze flicked over to the now bathed in flames Black Knight. It was a good tactic because her instincts were correct. In every corner within the forest, barely seen in the snowfelt air were tiny, miniscule glints. Each one glared back at their observer, appearing just in the corner of one's vision. It wouldn't take either Scatha or the Black Knight very long to realize that their entire clearing was now filled with razor sharp wires, some more obvious than others while some were hidden by the dark lightning. And the Black Knight would find each one was quite resilient to fire; whether Scatha was going to complain about having to dodge these too had yet to be seen because Touka soon looked back down at Battoru.

"Ah." Looked like the Black Night intended on returning the favor. Instead of the graceful pivot she had planned on doing, Asura accepted her partner's aid regardless, the two clasping hands before the martial artist was tossed out of the way. Grabbing one branch, she tucked her feet in and twisted, launching herself back in the direction of Red Wire. Her feet skid against the snow, leaving dark trails, and she stood there. Behind her, ink and flame and shadow and ash raged, ruining the quiet of the wintry night. She reassumed her stance, her expression resigned.

"Yeah, Scatha's a pretty boring matchup for me," Maiko smiled, "Can't really brawl with someone that slow, you know? Don't think the other team can keep up either, so..."

She closed her eyes again, hearing the vibrations of those taut wires as the hot wind passed through them.

"...was hoping you'd be fast enough to be fun, Touka. Let's keep it clean, ok?"

It wasn't teleportation this time. It was sheer speed, the dozen wires read in her mind's eye as Asura disappeared, leaving naught but a wisp in the snow. Using the tension of the wires as acceleration, Asura crossed the distance at a velocity faster than a human's eye could catch up and brought an axe kick down upon the scarlet wire-user.

The idea of having nightmares running free in the city being normal was not a comforting thought to Yui. Yet Luna, as she told her name was, seemed to imply it was. For a brief moment her mind recalled the days before she got her powers. It was hard to believe such things happened around her without anyone knowing it.

At Luna's reply, Yui looking down just a bit embarrassed by how much her question seemed simple now that it was answered
'Of course! It make sense. Probably....'

After being presented properly and all, Yui decided to follow Luna back to the restaurant she was talking about. After all if she was here, there must of been a reason. Beside, this was kind of enticing and she had a lot of questions.

Once back inside Luna's restaurant, Yui was looking quite uncomfortable on her chair. Stiff as a rock, she could hardly shake off her shyness. It took a lot to finally say something. 'I'm sorry about earlier...it's just that I never quite met others like me. Like us!' she quickly added. The snow was still falling outside, she could see it through the window.

Despite her tension, the scene was very soothing. It had been a while since she had been with other people her age. It had been a while since she had been with people her age. There was school, of course, but she did not talk nor hang out a lot there. In fact, she was mostly a ghost going in and out everyday. For the most part ignored, and ignoring others, because of her busy schedule with the orphanage and work.

'So what is it that you do, exactly? Until now I have been... wandering about. I k...stopped those things out there as much as I could, but they always come back. What are they?'

“I understand you. I’m relatively new at this magical girl role as well. You’ll get used to it in no time, trust me,” Luna said in a reassuring way as they ate. She was trying to make it easier for the other girls, each with their own quirks that made this situation far more complex than it should be.

“As long as you remember to keep your ‘Justice’ true to your heart, you’ll be alright. However, about the Nightmares,” Luna slurped a big gulp of her udon’s broth before continuing, “they are manifestations of negative emotions. You can’t eliminate them for good without cutting the evil at its root. To put it simply, people feel strong negative emotions for many causes: grief, desolation, anger, loneliness, etc. These serve as food for the Nightmares, which in turn creates a vicious cycle as the Nightmares multiply the pain in one’s heart manifolds.”

“In and of themselves, the Nightmares can’t hurt people, but they lead to many ‘accidents’ and other worse things happening.”

“To make it as simple as possible think of grief-stricken people like a car parked at the top of a hill. Usually, nothing will happen but then a Nightmare comes and releases the handbrakes and then… you know how gravity works,” Luna finished her grave analogy in a solemn tone before turning back to her food once more.

“In fact, I think this is perfect chance to show you one of the other features that make Miso City such a peculiar place. As well as a first-hand look in what happens when you fail to uphold your own ‘Justice’. As long as you are willing to come with me for an evening walk, of course,” Luna said to her current duo of companions as she got back to her feet and turned her gaze towards the Miso City Park.

“Well then, shall we get going?”

Soma crossed her arms but decided not to say anything, she didn’t too much like it when people just blindly accepted something without looking for the deeper truth; Soma wasn’t a ‘let sleeping dogs lie’ kind of person. Shaking her head, she followed the two back to the restaurant to get a second bowl of Udon figuring it would be quite sometime before getting another meal meant it would be wise to just eat up enough to tide her over. She ate with poor posture and struggled to use utensils, lacking basic etiquette and a general all-around loss of basic home training; though that is to say she didn’t make the attempt and where she was sloppy at first the girl gradually became more in control. Soma listened to the new girl talk obviously shy about talking to others maybe just nervous about meeting new people especially other magical girls.

“Don’t let it bother you until earlier today I hadn’t spoken to other magical girls other than my sister for seven years or so” Soma explained finishing up her second dish having devoured it just as quickly as the first filling up that black pit that had been growing in her stomach. “Their easy pickings by themselves but grouped up together can be a complete irritation for example being ambushed in the middle of the night when you just walked into town” rolling her eyes taking another few steps to the side, she wasn’t going to let that go for a long time something about Miso city screamed that something was hidden here.

In the midst of herself imposed irritation Soma caught the leftovers of Luna’s explanation “Fail to upho...oh I get it, you sure that’s a good idea, those girls seem to be very irritable” Soma explained planting her hands on her hips “I’m down to go anywhere and do anything long as it's interesting, I’m just saying might be a fight waiting”

Kanbaru Otoko

Despite Kanbaru putting actual effort into this fight, investing herself into a friendly spar between Dark Mahou Shoujo to determine who suffers the most over the holidays. Purely in spite of ever shit made and ounce of magic exerted upon the world. In contention of all that was fair and decent amidst the winter season.

Her opponent fled, leaving Chie to crash amidst a deserted field dotted with clusters of blackened ice. It was woefully anti climactic and Kanbaru couldn't help but glare in the general direction of the crash. Seconds turned to minutes and even her partner wasn't getting up. Now clearly she wasn't dead, or else Chie was so weak as to have been done in by Nightmares long before now, so Kanbaru was left shafted on the ice without any company.

"I should have stayed home. A few more hours of sleep beats this any day." Kanbaru groused bitterly and stuffed her hands into her pockets as she turned away. Yet before she could take a single step away from the bombastic excitement of the others over the hill- emphasis on bomb, given the flickering flames over the hill- She felt a familiar, undesired presence encroaching upon the park. "Of course. The only ones who come for a fight are them."

Her tone was cold, a tempered aggression shining in her cerulean eyes as she honed in one the presence of her natural enemy through terrain and obstacle. Ice splintered and cracked unbidden around her feet, her magic a wild whirl as she reached out and grasped it fully. The magazines of her pistols ejected with a clatter, skidding across the lake before fading into motes of energy, only to be replaced by the lake's water to rise from the cracks and stream inside the weapons.

"I don't need to be precise to send a message here." Fortuna declared as a gust swept back her hood and sent the tail of her coat flying wildly in the wake of her charging magic, till the culmination of energy reached a fevered pitch and she crossed the barrels horizontally.

"Shatter Point!"

What followed was a helix of dirty ice, a spiral of everything filthy that the Light Magical Girls came to gawk upon to make themselves feel vindicated in the righteousness of their cause. With the girth of a semi truck it stretched from arctic shooter out across the lake, sailing over tree and hill as it bored down upon the general vicinity of the intruding park goers with twin points prepared to skewer and shatter.

Yui listened on to what answers Soma and Luna had to say to her many questions, all while sipping her tea every so often. There was that familiar feeling. The one when you meet new people and feel like you do not necessarily belong. Yui's shy nature and lack of social interactions practice reinforced that, but as the time went by it shrunk and shrunk ever so slightly. While quietly listening and taking in the information given, Yui was doing what she had a habit of doing: trying to analyze the people she met.

Luna, at first sight, seemed like a fundamentally good person. She seemed to possess wit and was certainly sharp in all of her answers and her way of expressing herself, but she looked and sounded like she meant good. Then again, was it possible to not be good when you are a Magical Girl? She was closer to finding that answer than she believed.

As for Soma, the first thing that hit Yui was how she spoke up her mind seemingly without second thought. Earlier, she jumped into the action after Luna engaged without really needing to understand what was going on...something Yui could take example on, from time to time.

The new girl's stare went from Luna to Soma as the two seemed to know of what Luna was speaking, but it escaped Yui's knowledge. The confusion was readable in her eyes as it jumped from one to the other. As soon as Luna stood up, Yui gulped what was left of her now almost cold tea and stood up after her.

"Of course!" she answered to the Evening Walk question "...As long as you'd have me, of course."

Soon, the trio were back in the fresh snow of Miso city, walking towards a destination Yui was unaware of. Soma mentioned 'girls' when Luna spoke of failing to uphold their Justice. She was new in the Magical Girl business, but Yui could add two and two together. Still, the truth it spoke - if she was right - was hard to believe.

"Excuse me, Luna, but if I understand you seek to meet with some people, is that right? If what Soma said is true, then isn't it a bad idea to seek something that could end in... conflict?"

Just as soon as she had said those words, she felt something. It was akin to the feeling she had earlier about Luna and Soma's presence but...different. And...approaching. Fast! More out of reflexes than anything else, Yui transformed and took flight just in time to evade the tempest of murdering icicles. Landing on a lamp post by the park's road, she immediately looked to her teammates. They more than certainly were able to fend for themselves as she had noticed earlier that night, but she felt bad for jumping out of the way without helping.

"Is everyone okay?"

“I don’t remember having asked for a ride… yet,” Chie said shouted after being hurled through the air along with her perch. Instead of splattering against the ground during the landing and making the kind of spectacle that her partner expected to see, the dark-haired girl kicked off the post before spinning in the air. She landed sitting into a vending machine that stood by the lakeside walk, right in time to see her partner totally losing it against a new kind of prey.

Instead of joining the fray right away as she would usually do, Chie kicked the side of the machine, getting a free drink for herself and observing how much of a two-faced liar Kanbaru could be when she wanted to. After all, causing part of a construction site to crumble during a storm was considerably less conspicuous than trying to reenact The Day After Tomorrow in the middle of the city park.

“Nah, we are not supposed to mess with them during the day, especially at school. Everything is game at night,” Luna said as they followed the path to Miso City Park, taking a road that would lead them roughly to the lakeside area. “Someone has to remember those girls that Justice will catch up to them sooner or later,” she added while beaming a confident smile.

“Also, don’t worry about that, Miss Yui. Think of this like a ‘friendly’ competition between rival soccer teams. It may get heated but at the end of the day, or rather night, no one is going to be hurt for real. There’s nothing bad about it is there?”

It wouldn’t take long for their presence to be noticed, and welcomed with a rather cold greeting. While Yui jumped out of the way of the incoming blizzard that crashed upon them with the power of an avalanche, Luna stood her ground against the icy mass and buffeting winds. Even without transforming it seemed like the storm was barely touching her, but anyone with a good pair of eyes would be able to spot a barrier of phantom blades shaving away all the ice and hail before it could even reach Luna.

After the storm passed, the still blonde stood there with her hands tucked inside of her haori’s sleeves, beaming a bold smile towards the owner of that ferocious ice magic. “It’s not polite to attack without even trading introductions, you know?” Luna said in a challenging, almost upbeat, tone.

“I have brought some friends to play tonight as well. Let’s see how long you guys will continue to deny Justice?” Luna added before waving to Yui so that the other girl could know that she was ok.

“If we are done with introductions. I guess it’s my turn now, right?”

“Form Six: Moonlight Flash!” As soon as those words left left Luna’s lips she threw her Haori high into the air. In the time it took for it to fall back to the ground she was already in front of Kanbaru, transformed and ready to deliver a kick intent on throwing her target upwards as well which would likely be followed by some kind of meteor move if it connected.

A sly smile came upon Scatha's face as she looked around. The entire area was already full of wire it seems. Of course the girl was setting up this whole time, it made more sense than anything else. As the two opponents helped each other out, the winds suddenly got way more violently as Scatha gently put her feet back on the ground to make moving around a slight bit easier. "Yeah, Scatha's a pretty boring matchup for me. Can't really brawl with someone that slow, you know?" Black Knight was gunning right for her, and, within in a millisecond, Scatha was right out of there. A springed up bit of ink sent her flying off away from the field like she was the fastest bullet on the planet, twirling, spinning, and swinging on the wires to avoid them until she was far away enough that the swings were hitting thin air while she stood on a wire. Unkbenownst to the others except probably Touka, she was on the highest of the strings, trying to have the advantage by being where she wouldn't be too hampered. And if things became problematic, just gotta dive right back in and make the knight's life hell.

The ink was already right back to her location, it covering the tree she was near, as she generated more. With a raised palm, it flew right off to where the Black Knight was in large, thick but finely sharp needles. In mid-air, however, that's when they were split apart by the wires around, dividing them but instead allowing them to rain down upon her as hundreds, if not thousands. They were highly condensed despite they're newly small size however. Even slowly being melted by the flames, they would last long enough to meet their target. If she moved, well, she'd have to deal with the strings and the more dense needles that hadn't split as much yet. Thankfully, there wasn't much if any leftover ink stuck to the wires that cut them.

Meanwhile, the armor finally was done and finished. To most, it wasn't really anything special in appearance. It litereally looked like she was just covered in tar or oil over her clothes, except her head and hair. But it was far more durable than a person would think and a resilient little bugger. Her wings ready, her sword out, herself armored, she was ready for the next moves.

Cut, cut, cut. Every wire she could, Ami cut away. A few scraped at her flesh, minor injuries, but those were quickly cut away as well. How rude, to set up the battlefield without telling anyone. Rude as hell. It would have annoying if it weren't for the fact that Ami was having so much fun. Ami chased after Scatha like a mad dog, cutting every wire in her path as Scatha used them to keep away. Sure, Ami could have tried to use them as well to propel herself forwards. But she was no graceful acrobat, spinning in the air like a snowflake caught in the wind. She was a bullet, made to go in a straight line through any problems in her path. Every step on the ground was accompanied by an explosion, propelling herself faster and faster. Cut, boom, cut, boom, cut, boom. She leaped towards Scatha as she stood on high, only to dodge to the left with a spout of flame as needles assaulted her. A few struck, more minor injuries, but Ami barely even noticed. She was covered in a myriad of minor scratches and bruises, but they were nothing. The fight continued until she was unconcious or dead.

She rocketed towards Scatha from below, cutting through all the wires in her path as she roared like a primal beast. She swung her sword up at Scatha, going for her stomach to try and disembowel her... Only to let of of her sword. The blade flew out of her hands, past Scatha and embedding itself in a tree. But Ami did not halt her momentum as she wound up a massive punch from below, a rocket powered uppercut aimed straight for Scatha's chin. The flames were as bright as they were going to get, where Scatha had her armor of ink, Ami had covered herself in an inferno. Not much for defense, but it made damn sure that every single hit Ami made was gonna hurt.

Meanwhile, the sword was doing it's own thing. Still covered in flames like it's owner, the tree it had embedded itself into quickly caught fire. And of course in the middle of a forest, if one tree caught flame then others would follow. The flames were feasted on the storm Ami had kicked up earlier, whipping about wildly as it began to spread. Well, the fact that it took this long for a fire to start was really a testament to her self control.

"Ugh..." Red Wire had really, really not wanted to get too involved in all this. Really. But the other Dark Magical Girls were decidely going all out in their endeavors. From Battoru zipping about like a speeding bullet, to Ami literally setting the forest ablaze now, Touka was hardpressed not to land her face in her palm from the sheer escalation of it all. "Kanbaru. Kanbaru, I know you can hear me. Get your ass over here and fix this," she hissed, twisting her body to the side and dashing away from Battoru's kick. The moment her boots landed upon a burning branch, Red Wire was already gone in a flash of speed, the air itself being cut with each movement of her body and everywhere she went. So far, she didn't try to attack Battoru, instead leaping from tree to burning tree, any air around her leaving cuts to whoever was foolish enough to be in her vicinity.

The boot stopped moments before it smashed into the branch below, and Asura gave chase as well, accelerating further as her hands gracefully twisted and bent, nudging the unseen blades away from her own form. If pressed, she could probably endure those razor-sharp wires that were the name sake of Touka's magical girl moniker, but there wasn't any finesse in that, was there? Somersaulting, cat passing, sliding, flipping, Asura followed Red Wire in the most osentatious display of pseudo-martial acrobatics, keeping just behind enough so that the passive defenses that the president wove wasn't wholly nulled by proximity.

"C'mon, prez," the melee fighter said in a remarkably relaxed tone, "Why're bringing Fortuna into this when she's been dropping glaciers since this event began? Sounds like even more escalation to me~"

It seems like the fire girl wanted Scatha and only Scatha as her opponent. As Touka and Battoru ran off and, in probably the smartest decision of the night, bringing someone to take care of the coming forest fire, Scatha remained as the Black Knight descended upon her. She gave a crack of her neck in anticipation, as the flame covered foe went for a slash, down to up. Instictively, she jumped and dodged to the left. The flaming uppercut made her barely even notice the nearby tree quickly spring up into a blaze. Instead, she simply backflipped onto yet another, not quite as firey branch of a tree that was someways away from the initial one. As she did, another tendril of ink shot up and formed its petal like design behind the Black Knight, ready to assist as a sentry. It was the first of a few, as two more slowly rose up, though kept a bit more safe by the wires that surrounded them. A slightly interested smile sprang up as she tightened her grip on her inky sword.

"You're definitely making this a lot more of a thrill now..." The smile soon broke into a completely manic, incredibly pleased grin. Her eyes went wide with enjoyment at this challenger. This is exactly what she wanted...She wanted to see these girls bring their best to take her down. Anything else would be a damn disappointment! "Let's see what a knight can do! Ahaha!" She said, her excitement bringing out an enthused laugh at the very end. With it, she brought her sword down in a slash, letting out a fairly wide arc of ink from it. At the same time, the flower petaled sentry gave its assist, sending out 3 blasts at the brave lass. "Artful Blade! Dark Sentry!"

As the two attacks flew out, Scatha was already another step ahead. The sheer power of the slash was used with a jump to propel her even further back, making sure to get distance. Those flames were dangerous and she's shrugging off hits, so staying close was just a fool's errand. Evasion and tactics was the name of the game today.

Ami held out her hand in the direction of her sword, willing it to return to her grasp as she continued to pursue the slippery Scatha that scurried away. A trail of flame followed the sword as it flew towards the Black Knight, she caught it with ease and let it's momentum pull her out of the way of both Scatha's attacks as she landed on the ground, a few additional scratches to add from the wires around. She swung wildly, cutting apart any wires within five feet of her as she growled in annoyance. "Stop running away coward!" At first the game of cat and mouse had been amusing, but now the novelty of fighting a retreating opponent was wearing off. She swung her sword in the air a few more times, creating waves of flame to try and intercept Scatha, but they would most likely be dodged with the same ease that Scatha had been dodging all her attacks. Luckily they weren't supposed to hit.

Each wave struck a different tree, adding them to the growing inferno as Ami continued her assault on the dodging Scatha. Judging by how she had been dodging this whole encounter, she would likely go in a circular pattern to the left around Ami, trying to strike at her from behind with hit and run tactics. Well now it was time to change up the game. By the time Ami was done, all the trees around her would be burning or already incinerated, creating an empty field of melted snow and scorched plant life. Or as Ami liked to call it, a combat arena. No more trees for Scatha to retreat to, no more places for Red Wire to attach wires to cut Ami up, just a circle of flaming trees that surrounded Ami and Scatha. "Come on then, lets end this. I'll try not to maim you too much!"

There was no final dash towards Scatha, just a simple gesture with her hand as the Black Knight let the flames of her armor consume her. A clenched fist with index finger beckoning Scatha towards her doom as the circle of fire around them burned ever hotter.

"Stop running away coward!" Just that mere moment of rage from her made Scatha's grin grew even bigger than it once was as she evaded. Even if she was trying to kill her, her rage was actually kind of adorable in its strange, very melty way. Like a kid throwing a fit almost. Her sword flames also couldn't even hit her mark at the speeds Scatha was moving at. She'd almost pitied how quickly one-sided this had gotten...even she didn't realize something mid-pity thought. Her grin stopped as she looked around and observed that each wave, while not hitting her, was hitting almost every tree head on. True she could evade the slashes, but her goal wasn't even to actually have them make contact. On her, anyways. Even if it was gonna make her life harder, Scatha couldn't help but smile as she looked back at the Black Knight, continuing to dodge her attacks to be extra safe. Girl might be hot tempered, but it seems she's got a few tricks.

"And here I thought you were just going fight psycho..."

As they both screeched to a halt on opposing sides of the newly made circle, Scatha slowly moved back up, making sure to keep eye contact on the Black Knight. It wasn't as a sign of anger or fear of an attack. No...It was a sign of excitement. The place was burned right down to the dirt and there was no escaping. The large ring of red, painfully flickering lights made sure of that. The fire-soaked magical girl wanted this to be a head on fight huh? Fine, she's won her opportunity. She better not regret it when she loses though. The inked wings spread back open, wide and larger than before as her grip grew tighter on her sword, only to point it right at the Black Knight...No. For now, at least, it was Ami. "That's pretty big talk, you know! But that's fine..." She pointed her thumb at her temple. "Cause this head is the best trophy a warrior could receive!"

Contrary to what Ami was expecting, she did not move. Instead, her back straightened up yet remained loose. Her arms extended fully as she dual-wielded her large sword and her knees were at a slight bend, ready to fly forward. Her eyes narrowed as she stared down her classmate and opponent. It was truly time to settle this. "Bring it oooon!" She roared out loud. The minute that Ami would move, so would Scatha, not a second later. Her ink was ready to trail right behind her, desiring to assist its creator. Just watching the tension before the clash could make a person's adrenaline spike.

"Sheesh, you're not letting up, are you," Red Wire mused, eyes shifting to narrow to the side. There was a slight difference of time between jumps, but she caught on to the pattern quickly; Battoru was trailing her from behind. "I'd rather not end up on the news tomorrow. I said go all out earlier, but this is getting ridiculous," was her answer to the other Dark Magical Girl. Kanbaru could easily quell whatever forest damage was running rampant, assuming Ami wasn't dumb enough to torch the entire parkside. But with the fire came other problems, the flames licking up the falling snow just as easily as it fell. Because of it, steam had begun to spread around their battlefield, causing visibility on all fronts to dim. More importantly though, was the giant helix of ice that had suddenly manifested at the lakeside.

"Of course," Touka muttered, knowing damn well whose magic that was and what she was aiming at. Because more than anyone else, she felt the intruding presence too. The presence of their Light Magical Girl counterparts. "It looks like you're getting more escalation, just like you wanted Battoru," Red Wire said before disappearing from sight. The next time she did apppear, it'd be beside the other Detention Club Member. Since this was still a spar, she aimed a swift kick at her, hoping to launch the girl into whatever tree hadn't been burned down. "I'd rather not let those brats ruin our fun," Red Wire said to her opponent, wondering if Battoru would catch on to what she was suggesting.

"Ahahaha!" Maiko laughed, her open palms swirling upwards and redirecting Touka's first attack of the night away, before skipping back onto a tree branch to observe the pleasantries occuring at a distance. "Hey now, it's not like you're the only one who's causing havoc, right, Touka? At best, you'll have no responsibility at all, and at worst, you'll only be one-sixth of the problem."

Indeed, with Ami setting the world ablaze, Kanbaru dropping a metric ton of ice in every which direction, and Scatha doing her dramatic battle cry, it was clear that the problem laid with only one half of the Detention Club. Scratching the back of her head with a sigh and wondering where the crisp, clean, skillful bout of combat she had wanted had gone, Maiko took in a deep breath and shouted out, "Hey, Ami, Ink Girl! Me and the Prez are gonna take a technical time out, ok? The Light Girls are here now, so peace! Feel free to join in or continue on or whatever, but just try to remember that the park never harmed anybody and doesn't appreciate the abuse~!"

The change in tone had been swift and quick, that disciplined, precise part of Maiko now fully gone in the face of the new intruders. Now, she was back to playing the role of the cheery barbarian, and the ashen eyed girl turned back to Touka with a cheeky grin.

"Well, wanna go give Kanbaru a hand?"

The catharsis of releasing her frustration upon the dark magical girl's antagonists was remarkably short lived. Even without the benefit of sight she knew her attack hadn't claimed any of the light magical girls, their presence a blight on her senses, like a flashlight pressed flush to the retina and flashed for added annoyance. She snapped the barrels from the helix of dirty ice, safe in the knowledge that her attack, unlike most magical girls, would melt away with time.

Clean up would become the farthest thing from her mind as, over the distant fires and sounds of combat, Touka of all people was wailing for help. Incessantly, like all of her edge was proving useless at anything but cutting up trees into even easier to burn kindling. It almost filled her with a warm fuzzy feeling as she prepared to respond in a cool way.

Then completely out of nowhere and acting as though they'd been having a conversation already, an alarmingly familiar Light Magical Girl flickered onto the lake and delivered a lightning fast kick expressly into Kanbaru's gut with such force to launch her skywards. In short order she crumpled, retched, and flew without any grace while Chie's battle maniac rival prepared a follow up on the ground.

"Get lost." Kanbaru barked hoarsely, flipping herself feet up while she aimed both barrels down at her crouched opponent. Dark Magical girls were a hardy bunch, even if they preferred fighting at range. Lips drawn taught in concentration, Fortuna unloaded upon Luna, confident the newly erupting ice features would push her off so Kanbaru could morph them into a flat pillar and land cleanly from this assault.

Gaia barely had the time to sigh in relief to Luna's answer before the magical girl quite frankly disappeared from sight in a burst of speed. Not ready, it took Gaia a moment to actually follow up. She spread her wings and gave chase, surprisingly fast for her looks. The multiple ribbons from her Magical Girl's outfit following behind her in a display that reminded a shooting star - not for it's speed, or force, but for it's grace. After crossing the lake, Gaia easily spotted the apparent enemy.

The tall looking, blue haired girl had just been kicked high in the air. Gaia's eyes went from the girl down to her guns, now pointing below her, which led to Luna's location. Instinctively, Gaia reached out to the local fauna and, after raised both her arms, two giant vines of interlocked roots and plants borrowed from the ground on each side of Luna and created an arch-like structure to block the incoming shots from the enemy's guns.

Realizing that this shield would block Luna's follow up movement, part of the vines also created a clear path to follow going out and around of the vine shield that could serve as a launching platform for her close quarters fighting companion. Now alert, she felt the presence of the rest of the Dark Magical Girls in the distance and her eyes met the approximate location of the closest group. She could have prepared a Flower Bomb to throw at them in prevision...but she did not.

Even after Luna engaged them and despite her defensive action against the gun-wielding one...they were not nightmares. They looked exactly like the two other Magical Girls she met this evening. Gaia flew closer to the ground, remaining alert but very much confused as to what was actually going on.

Why were they the aggressors?

"This way, this way!" Kiru-Kiru only knew where she was going half of the time; but she had set her eyes on her next opponent fairly easily. One of those goody-goody magical girls had crossed her path, and she was itching for a fight. Her ring-blade cut into her shoulder as she pulled it tight against her body to push her forward. Her eagerness for real combat was steadily growing. A full sprint down the roads and around corners, she did all she could to keep up to the fleeting magical girl. It was only by chance she was able to catch her take off, but she wasn't good at tracking them down otherwise.

At first glance, Kiru seemed to be alone. In the glow of the street lamps, though, her shadow seemed to shift and stretch, not just distorted by the light. A keen eye would notice black wisps trailing from the silhouette that didn't quite resemble her, hair too long, a top hat perched on her head. From the shadow came a chuckle, then a voice.

"Now, now, let's not be too hasty." The calm, collected whisper contrasted with Kiru's yells. "A good show makes use of the element of surprise. Wouldn't it be best to corner her?"

Concealed behind her teammate, Ayumu sped along. Ohh, Sleight of Hand was such a fun technique to use, warping her surroundings and her own form until her enemies barely knew what was real and what wasn't. Of course, the goody-two-shoes they were chasing would probably sense the presence of a second girl, but this was a good way to throw their target off before striking.

Their target... She recalled, almost fondly, the nights she'd fought alongside the light girls, but they still couldn't see the truth behind the smoke and mirrors of this world. Now it was up to Team Fantasia to keep their former allies out of their hunting grounds, and up to her to make sure Kiru didn't rough them up too much.

Just as the two slipped round a corner, a shiver crept up Ayumu's spine. "Speaking of surprise..." she muttered, watching black blobs seethe into view. "Seems we've got a different audience than we thought."

"Oh, goody." As she turned the corner, she too saw the nightmares wandering about in front of her as the magical girl continued on towards what she thought was the park. She was only half into her remark; as much as she didn't mind a free punching bag, she really wanted to fight the cute girl that had just flown out of any realistic reach. Of course by the sounds of it, it seemed like they did find someone to play with. "Well, then. Let us give them a show to die for~"

Kiru started off by slinging her small chakrams at each of swarming nightmares. Thinking of it as the price of admittion as she gathered each of their attention. Though, being head magician was more of her partner's schtick. Instead, Kiru just twirled about as she readied her ring blade; flaunting her form and weapon of choice as she surveyed the battlefield for her first target to shred.

As Kiru stormed into the fray, her shadow returned to normal, but Ayumu didn't reappear. One by one, the Nightmares turned, their attention fixed on the ringblade wielder. The one in the lead oozed closer in an inky torrent, ready to make its move... Then, three cards whizzed seemingly out of nowhere, crimson auras streaming behind them as they sliced the monster clean in two. Sludge splattered the walls.

"And that was my first trick," Ayumu announced, grinning as she materialised from what had looked like an empty space. "Cutting a Nightmare in half. Now to make it disappear!" She reached out, absorbing the dark energy before it could dissipate, giggling in glee from the buzz it gave her. This was one of the best ways to feel alive. For her, it was one of the only ways.

As several of the Nightmares slithered round and closed in on her, she took off her top hat headband, swinging her arm in a wide arc. What looked like black smoke billowed from the hat, twisting into the shape of a flock of crows that swooped at the foul creatures. With the enemy distracted, Ayumu didn't waste a moment. "Kiru! Now!"

Kiru's professional smirk stretched into a giddy grin as the nightmares were sliced in twain. Her partner signaling that she had free reign on the battlefield now. The nightmares from here out were free game. The trickster bowed as she was introduced- really; just how silly this production skit seemed to her, but she couldn't deny how fun it was- and spun her blade around her arm, letting it dig into her skin as she rotated it faster and faster. It wasn't until it spun fast enough to become a near-solid blur that she raised her head and flung her blade towards the murder of crows pecking away at the nightmares. Carving into the ground as it traveled and sliced through all of the foul beings with ease. She wasn't done there, however. Keeping her blade in control with her magnesis, she rotated her blade through the air as she cleared a path between her and a rather juicy looking nightmare. "The rest are yours~"

Sprinting to catch up with her blade, she leaped at her target; catching her ring blade in the air before spinning around herself to land a blow against the beast with the flat of her blade. The nightmare fell back with her after it, pinning it against the ground between her legs. "Ooh!~ If only you were that cute little light magical girl I'm really after; the fun we could have together~" She laughed as she then stared the nightmare head on. "Alas~ I'll have you polish my blade instead." Her blade was sent flying directly into the air, spinning at a blinding speed before she sent it hurdling between her knees; stopping just as the impact made collision with the nightmare so she could continue chipping away with the spinning blade little by little, all the way through.

Ayumu smirked. "Sawing acts never get old," she commented, her glinting eyes flicking from Kiru to the rest of the Nightmares. She danced out of the way as one swung its many skeletal arms at her.

"Ohh, a volunteer? Yes, yes, do step up." She raised her hat again, the smoke forming a large black rabbit with deer antlers jutting from its head this time. It narrowed its glowing purple eyes and leapt, goring at the monster until all that remained of it were scattered goo blobs and bones. As the jackalope disappeared, Ayumu stepped forward to absorb the remnants, then froze. Several other Nightmares surrounded her, rapidly advancing.

They lunged - then reeled back as metal spikes jutted upwards from the ground. Although the creatures writhed, they bore no injuries. The spikes looked and felt real, but faded to reveal only concrete.

"Oh dear, did you just see through my trick?" Ayumu twirled, launching a flurry of cards. More filthy ooze splashed the nearby buildings. "Nobody living can know a magician's secrets."

She and Kiru would have to be quick about this, take out as many monsters as possible before Miss Sunshine-And-Sweetness could steal their prey. Even in the heat of battle, Ayumu could still sense that presence somewhere around. That sickly stench of foolishness and self-righteousness and... and hope, unwavering ideals, dreams still intact... Pathetic. She kept alert, refusing to let stupid thoughts distract her. Such sentimentality was something she wouldn't tolerate, in herself or others.

"Hehehehe~! Yes, melt away like each of your little brethren~..." Kiru pushed her blade further before being glancing at her partner. Her lips tightening as she let out a deep breath; mood suddenly sinking into boredom. Twisting off of the nightmare, she wrapped her legs around the blade and sat up top it; stopping it in its tracks and finish cleaving through the nightmare beneath her. A death cry could be heard without a second glance from Kiru.

"Ya know~ for as much goody-goodies there are, they sure do leave a lot for us. Not that I mind too much..." Her ring blade bounced from one nightmare to the next, slicing each of the pathetic creatures as they dared to get close to her. Though their numbers were quickly on the decline. Only one nightmare was caught between her hand which she continued to pummel as her fists grew raw. "Grand Finale, Phantasmagoria~ Wrap it up; I still want to continue the hunt before the night's over." Though it didn't seem they had much time left, or did they? Not like she carried a watch. Surely beating a fighting spirit into a goody-goody wouldn't take too long, especially after this great of a warm-up.

Slinking away from the remaining Nightmares' blows with the ease of a cat, Ayumu snickered. Was this so-called light girl a hypocrite, or was she just that incompetent? Either way, it worked in their favour, as long as she did nothing to crash the show.

"Alright, the moment you've been waiting for," the illusionist said, skipping between the slimy abominations and spreading out her arms. "Come and get me!"

One of the creatures extended a mass of spiky tendrils from its body, which hurtled forward all at once. In a split second, the girl's form changed, darkening and swelling, exploding like a water balloon as the attack hit home. The Nightmare raised its tendrils, from which dangled the dripping carcass of one of its own kind.

A volley of cards sliced into it from behind, leaving it in the same tattered state as its ally. "Ha!" The real Ayumu blinked into visibility, her grin stretched wide as the murky mess seeped into her in swirls. "Idiots are so easy to fool."

Fuelled by the energy rush, she pulled one more card from the deck, leapt up and flung it. The Queen of Hearts - bearing bloody hearts and red smatters, as all of that suite did - spun through the air, its glow blazing like flames. Just as the last Nightmare turned, the card cleaved right through its mask, causing the being to collapse into a puddle of ichor.

When she landed, Ayumu gave a mock bow. "Thank you, and goodnight!" With that, she raised a hand, the essence flowing into her. Bruises twinged as she moved, and she could feel blood trickling from a cut on her cheek, but the feast just now would speed up her recovery. Besides, she'd had worse. Much worse.

She sauntered over to Kiru, checking that her teammate was alright. Indifferent as dark magical girls were to the plight of most people, that didn't necessarily stop them caring about each other. "Well, we just got a fair amount of practice in, not that we needed it." She glanced in the direction of the distant park. "Now let's show that do-gooder a trick or two."

“Well, looks like we’re going to get into a scrap,” Soma said, rolling her shoulders, taking a step outside following Luna in the supposed direction of Miso park. She wasn’t sure what to make of Luna, to be honest, the girl seemed to be a very by the books straight line soldier, but she also seemed to just enjoy poking at the dark ones for their mistakes which at the end of the day Soma didn’t care about no one here was any real relation to her. “Suppose this would be some good training, haven’t fought anything to give me a good run since my sister, it’s hard to find a good challenge when your magic is based around protection,” she added folding her arms behind her head as she kept pace with the girl.

Peering up into the sky, she could just barely make out what seemed to be objects falling and growing ever in size “Why me” she mumbled.
All at once the ice spear essentially carpet bombed the group of three covering the area with a literal sheet of frost, the sound of ice striking the ground echoed tremendously. The bombardment continued like a personal smiting from the creator above himself for what seemed like the longest thirty seconds of her life being that Soma, she just stood there unlike the other two of jumping and avoided it meant she’d be anchored on that spot for that entire length. When then tempest finally subsided the only thing left was a massive orb covered in ice the popped like a bubble revealing Soma standing exactly where she had been when the rain started; because her shields are perfectly insolated when made the cold didn’t begin to nip at her nose till that moment.

Looking around it was obvious that both Luna and Gaia went ahead and knowing Luna she was engaged in a fight to get the last hit in, that's when it hit her Luna reminded her of a saner version of Eve. Shaking her head free of the thought Soma ran to catch up to her party nearing the park the exact thing she suspected was happening prompting the girl to give herself a very deserved pat on the back before jumping to assist. “We just haaaaad to come huh” Soma sighed clapping her hands creating a construct wall that absorbed the hail of bullets “Oh look a gun…so very rebellious of you”

“I’m sorry, but that ain’t gonna happen! I know this city with the back of my hand,” Luna replied to Kanbaru’s taunt as Yui’s roots shielded her from the blue-haired girl’s counter.

“Come on, think of this as a trust-building exercise. We can’t be partners of we don’t know each other as well as we know ourselves, right?” She said to Soma, flashing a big grin towards the other girl right when Yui’s spell opened a way for her follow-up move. “Talking about this, have you ever been part of a softball team?” Luna asked as she crouched in a position that resembled a sprinter ready for a short distance dash.

“Find the biggest empty space you can; when I give you the sign, swing as hard as you can, towards the hardest thing that you can see,” she said before leaping upwards in a blur of speed, using the platform provided by Yui to increase her already considerable mobility.

“Form Six, Movements Two and Four: KYOUKA… SUIGETSU!” Luna shouted as she ascended, drawing her blade and using them to reflect the moonlight in a blinding flash that was considerably more intense than it should be and following it with three more kicks aimed at Kanbaru. It was almost as if gravity was a mere suggestion to the sword-wielding blonde as she turned the speed she built into power.

If all of three attacks connected, Luna would finish her assault by kicking Kanbaru towards Soma and shouting for the other girl to follow their plan from earlier. However, if Luna’s momentum was broken by any means, she would have to abort the move, probably taking a hard fall as a payment for her failed stunt.

Meanwhile, at a vending machine not very far from there.

“Goddamn, I didn’t think that there would be this many at once. I guess that I can’t just sit down and let Miss Frosty blow up some steam like this,” Chie cursed as the fight quickly turned against them, with the light magical girls ganking Kanbaru like a posse of bloodthirsty kittens.

“Heads up, Butterfree!” the dark-haired girl yelled right after shooting volley of three dark daggers at Yui, who was the only straggler of the light magical girl group. As soon as they reached an arm’s reach away from the flying magical girl, each of the three blades would burst in a net of dark strands connected to Chie’s spear.

If she succeeded in snaring the other girl, Chie would first bring her to the ground before following up with lunge aimed at Yui’s wings. If she missed, well… there’s more than one trick up her sleeve in case this happened.

Kanbaru Otoko

"I didn't know the Miso City Park had a homeless problem." Kanbaru seethed as the other Light Girls intervened faster then it took for Kanbaru to fall back to the ice. A veritable wall of greenery absorbed her shots, the leafy fronds dead and bowed under the weight of icy spikes now encrusting it's top. At the very least they'd pose a hazard if anyone else fell straight down upon them, while she'd have no issue smoothing them into ramps or platforms before being threatened by an icy patch ever again.

Of course, there was the still the matter of Kanbaru fighting four Light Magical Girls by herself. That was a tall order even on a good night, and at the moment she didn't even have her motorcycle for added mobility. Instead she was in free fall, firing like mad at a barrier of frozen vine, only for a magically constructed wall to rise on top of that and block her entirely. "Look at that. The Hobos can build their own igloos. Maybe they'll get an elementary school education ne-!"

It was then she was struck with a bright flash, far too bright to be natural but effective all the same. For all the protection from gas and wind her outfit gave, it was lacking in sunglasses and she was too focused on the ground to look away. The Icy Magical Girl cried out in alarm, the gun fire ceasing as she crossed her arms before her face to shield herself from the light and inevitable reprisal that would follow. Kanbaru wasn't disappointed when she was buffeted like a leaf hurled into the turbine of a passing plane, her body inexplicably sore before a parting kick drastically altered her trajectory.

Fortuna saw the waiting Magical Girl no doubt hoping to get her shot in while she was reeling from Luna's assault. With a snarl from behind her mask, she flipped so she flew feet first and raised the ice beneath her like a wave of frozen water, catching her fall into a controlled slide atop the crest of it. All of which still bored down on Bastion. "I'm not so easy a foursome is enough to wear me down. I've got stamina to go all night."

She considered shooting Bastion, but having seen what could only be her wall block it already, she holstered both weapons on a harness beneath her billowing coat. Kanbaru reached out and focused on fighting with her magic, a second wave of ice rising from the lake and coming in from behind Bastion. She could block if she wanted but Kanbaru would bury her for it.

Elina and Evelune

The long haired shrine maid walked into the night wearing her black pleated skirt, white frilly shirt and grey hoodie as her hair was tied like any other day just as in the picture with a big red ribbon in it. She went out tonight to see if she could see any nightmares and something much more promising that she was about to head too right now.

Elina walked out of the nearby seven eleven with two steaming cups of ramen in both hands and two pair of chopsticks hanging out of the side of her hoodie. Quickly she went down a few streets. Her pace was close to running but she wanted to be sure at least the ramen would still be hot. Elina came up to the well known bridge that she had been to for the last few nights now that her goal was here. Elina carefully slided down the side of the bridge until she could spot her target.

It was a young girl about the same age as her she presumed that was rolled up under the bridge cowering for warmth and food. Elina had helped the girl with food for the last few weeks. She would move locations due to the police sending her away but another bridge or shelter was easily found with the knowledge of Elina. Elina softly snook up on her as she set down the cup of ramen in front of the girl. She gave her a short glance before looking the complete other way. She simply sat down and started pulling open her own ramen.

She broke the chopsticks unevenly in half and started munching down the food. She was not used any other food for the last half year now that her parents had left her so this tasted somewhat good. Elina had been sad since the moment Eve and her had met. She would have some moments of happiness like when she was eating food but furthermore she just felt like a ball of depressiveness. She still wanted to help the girl though since she did try her hardest to live normally.

"H-hai...Did anything happen today...?"

The area under and around the bridge saw less foot traffic these days since its new underground tenant moved in unbeknownst to the public at large. The air around the entire construction was filled with a very morbid air that crawled under the skin and spoke to the baser instincts of animals letting them know a predator was near or that it just outright wasn’t safe to venture out or explore around out of fear that that instinct was based more in reality. Eve found herself lost in Miso city after going on a blind rage that jumped from one nightmare to the other from the entrance of town that ended here under this bridge. The underside of a bridge seemed just as good as any other dwelling that didn’t smell like home, so this became her base of operations so to speak that she would hunt during the night where the nightmares were more prevalent. The hunt as it were wasn’t all about the slaughter of nightmares at night she was also looking for someone else a certain smell of family wafted in the air near this bridge itself and the warmth of home that even in memory kept her warm on cold nights.

These days she stayed in her transformed self the entirety of her being oozed killing intent ensuring her presence would go uninvestigated except for one girl, a magical girl like her tainted. Their relationship had started a little rough being that Eve wasn’t the best when it came to meeting new people but the girl grew on her and eventually she didn’t mind when approached especially when she brought her food. Today much like the other days she was brought something for her body to continue living to the next day, cup noodles with chopsticks. Eve was no savage before she fell but now she was used to hunting, killing and cooking her own food over an open fire then eating with her hands or some tool crafted out of wood most notably a spoon she was particularly proud of. After fumbling with the chopsticks with her fingers rather unimpressively then dropping them completely offset the shark girl to which she remedied the situation by dumping the entire contents of the cup into her mouth.

“Not a good hunt all day...something in the air” she growls looking off in the distance

Eve gladly took the warm cup of ramen. The girl did seem like she was quite hungry when her complete attention turned to the ramen. Elina softly smiled a little under her sad eyes as she saw the girl look at the ramen. Elina hoped the food tasted good. She was somewhat shocked after seeing how the girl ate. Eve just dropped the chopsticks to the side after trying quite hard to eat with the tools she never ate with before. Eve simply drank the ramen from the cup gulping down the entire portion of the cup in one go. Elina furrowed her brows before continuing to eat from her own cup ignoring the street girl her manners for now.

Eve spoke annoyingly about her hunt today. Oh right Eve did hunt on her own as well. She lived off of the wild for the most part given that she was a magic girl it was entirely possible.

"Have you tried setting up traps perhaps?"

Elina softly blowed her ramen to cool it off some more. As she spoke with the girl and thought to herself that this girl might be even hungrier. Wouldn't hurt to ask at least.

"Want more ramen? You can have mine if you eat half of it with chopsticks."

She wanted to try and get this girl to learn some basic japanese behaviour like any child would learn in this country. At least she could go around without seeming strange or weird.

Eve grumbled but agreed she was having a hard time hunting the stray deer that walked the streets probably because she was nearly four months without a bath. The dirt that clung to the wild girl’s hair dirtied her hair so much one wouldn’t be able to tell she was in fact, a platinum blonde haired young lady. Reaching her hand out and taking the cup of noodles from her strange friend Eve began to once again fight with the chopsticks, it took several minutes of fumbling her fingers around the tools before she understood the basic concept and was able to pull her first noodle from the cup a single depressing noodle. Time went by, more and she manages to pick up dexterity from a dark corner of her brain that controlled her long-term memory and her body mimicked the action she used to be able to perform in another life. Those days seemed far away now shroud by a fog conceptualized by her own mental fragmentation sure enough Eve wasn’t insane but the girl was aggressively unstable. Her hazy eyes lowered to the ground disassociating completely at this point completely lost within the stygian void of her brain, that wild, unkempt flowed over her filthy face hiding her dry lips and sullen features.

“Thank you,” she muttered, looking up at the other girl putting the second cup of noodles down, dropping her hands down to her bare feet both sets were sharpened specifically cut and maintained to rip flesh from bone just like her pointed teeth.

Everything was peaceful for that moment as the two shared a quiet moment together until a faint booming sound could be heard coming from the direction of the park. Igniting something within Eve as she could feel several different magics going off all day, but one, in particular, sparked her to jolt off into that direction on all fours before rising up to her legs and sprinting faster.

Elina didn't get much reaction back from the girl when she mentioned to set up traps. Only a light grumble from her assumingly failed attempts at setting up traps. Elina softly sighed and turned her gaze forwards. This girl was truly helpless without Elina her help. Why wouldn't she just go to the orphanage like Elina had said or rest a few nights at her house. There were three beds left and she was quite lonely so Elina wouldn't have complained if she did.

Elina gave Eve the cup of ramen for her to try and eat them with proper eating utensils. It was quite cute to see her fumble with chopsticks for over 5 minutes straight. Elina did help her a little putting Eve her fingers on the right places. Elina did not talk much during todays dinner nor did Eve. There was not much to converse about in the first place with them nothing feeling quite grim about life. It did make her happy to watch the street girl eat with so much appetite. It even made Elina somewhat jealous herself. Furthermore she did not do much else during this miserable life. Everything she loved and liked doing had just disappeared like snow on a warm summer day. This was the one thing she could get some fulfillment out off.

The street girl thanked Elina shortly for the food and gazed at the ground again. Elina nodded her head somewhat unexpectedly and continued to do the same. Eve had some manners after all.

Time passed without much exchange of words, Elina did not know a single thing to bring up apart from Eve her hunting. The girl did not seem to have any hobbies or things to do in life apart from fighting and surviving. It was a bit sad honestly but what was she to do. Maybe something more would come out over time. Every person had something special about them after all.

While deep in thought the sudden movement of Eve caught Elina off guard. Elina stared after Eve as she took off. There was a soft boom in the background that indicated something. Elina stood up quickly picking up the two cups to throw away while on her way and started jogging after Eve. She was a lot faster in her magical girl form.

"O-oh E-Eve w-wait up p-please!"
