I've been told I hate everything, and granted I'm probably overly cynical before I watch most things. But maybe more movies and shows can be good first. ;P

@Altered Tundra I'm trying to save my judgement until I see a more substantial trailer. I might also be really guarded on this film because I love the classic so damn much lol. Also means that I'm being a little more nit picky than I should. I'm nervous... but you're right, given the crew and the small snippet given, the film does have the potential to be great.

I also have to remind myself that a story doesn't mature with me just because I've gotten older. It's a family flick and Aladdin should remain there.

Regardless, I'm first in line to see it. Everyone else can get behind me.

I think you'll find that for every bad movie that comes out there are five good ones right around the corner. This year alone we've had:

-Thoroughbreds
-Isle of Dogs
-You Were Never Really Here
-Tully
-American Animals
-Ocean's 8
-Sorry to Bother You
-Mission: Impossible - Fallout
-First Man
-A Quiet Place
-Oh Lucy!
-BlackKklansman
-Have A Nice Day
-Puzzle
-Beirut
-Disobedience
-Love, Simon
-Mary and the Witch's Flower
-The Miseducation of Cameron Post
-Hearts Beat Loud
-Hereditary
-Searching
-Leave No Trace
-Eighth Grade
-Avengers: Infinity War

i just saw infinity war and if i'm honest it was underwhelming. i was expecting the airport scene from civil war but better but it just didn't hit that spot like civil war did. it was still a good movie, but it just wasn't as good as i was hoping it'd be. it's probably an 8.5/10 for me.

You've also spent the better part of a year having people hype it up. But now to address the spoiler stuff.

yeah I know which was what ultimately caused it to fall short of my expectations. I'm sure that if I had saw it sooner or not listen to people while they were talking to it I would've liked it way more. I liked Civil War way more than IW, honestly.

@Fabricant451 I've heard some mixed reactions to a few of those movies. And not sure how many of those movies would pique my interests, though admittedly I haven't/never see enough movies in theaters or otherwise to really speak of the year overall. Haven't even really been watching much of any medium lately.

@Exit My memory is also kind of pants when it comes to movies I've seen. What genres do you enjoy generally? My taste in movies is maybe a little limited in scope. (least compared to other mediums I watch/interests I have.)

@SleepingSilence That's funny since almost all of them are some of the highest regarded movies of the year.

@Fabricant451 Sort of a critics versus audience kind of thing. I feel like a handful of the movies that I'm at least aware of, were not made for me and I'd find them underwhelming at best.

Kind of like how everyone loved Mad Max Fury Road. But aside from the flash there was basically zero substance to its characters or story. And it actively got worse the more you thought about it. For one example.

@SleepingSilence Zero substance? I strongly disagree. Fury Road didn't sit down and exposition because it's the fourth in the franchise and the point of the movies is basically to just have another story in the world as seen through the eyes of Max. But even with that the movie did a fine job setting up the conflict, the characters, and the narrative without having to spell it out.

I'm curious how it got worse the more you thought about it. And what you expected from a movie called Mad Max: Fury Road.

@Fabricant451 A movie that was a lot less boring than what I got. And just by going on previous installments they actually put a big plot hole in the movie, from what I'm aware of. But I know that's a love it or hate it movie. You can see that in the IMDb. I wouldn't exactly call it a one-star movie. But it certainly isn't a 10.

But I knew/remembered that you like that movie. I know you hated Ready Player One, and I thought that was half decent. Though I can acknowledge that it's all flash as well. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I won't get too bogged down in the details of either.

Skimmed through this and it nails at least a few problems I had. It's just another movie it's been so long. I've basically forgot most things about it.

@SleepingSilence

I just think it's hilarious that you're talking about plot holes when Ready Player One is a movie that doesn't even make sense within its own internal logic.

Also you'll forgive me if I'm not exactly going to read a full article that has me rolling eyes at the author's poor attempts at 'humor' rather than serious criticism.

@Fabricant451 I never said it did. But at least it wasn't a two-hour-long chase scene. Just most of it. :P

Assuming that you would have watched something in the first place, I could try to have found a more substantial video on the matter. But I'm with friends and I'm lazy.

@SleepingSilence Instead it was a near two and a half hour exercise in stupidity where nothing made sense and it thought it could distract the audience by going "Hey it's that thing you know" instead of trying to make a world or characters that are interesting or good.

And I would have watched something or even read something if it was done in a manner where I didn't have to wonder what the author's opinion on ethnic cultures was two minutes in

@Fabricant451 You won't have me defending Ready Player One. *seriously so anyway* Both movies didn't make sense, but I favor one because it had no obvious agenda. (Not really, but a lot less nothing happened in it.)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Like what you like.

I'll speaking of flashy movie, friend and I just sat through Sword of The Stranger. Was good enough.
