Ziggy would be lying if he said he wasn’t relieved by Venus’ response to the brownie. He’d never been the most discerning diner — hell, his idea of a five-star meal was a crockpot full of mac and cheese, and maybe some bacon bits sprinkled over the top, if he was feeling fancy. So, it was a huge reassurance that Venus actually managed to eat one without spitting it out, tangible proof that his taste buds weren’t completely busted quite just yet. Though he supposed that when it came to a pot brownie, how it tasted paled in importance to just how stoned it’d get you.

“East Coast represent?” Ziggy remarks, a little teasingly, but keeps his mouth shut when the other falls silent. He takes another swig of his beer while he waits, gaze drawn towards an altercation between Lilly, their floor manager, and someone who seemed very, very unhappy with the current state of affairs. It was rather hard to ignore, in fact, seeing as how the guy’s voice carried over the music with all the clarity and vindication of a church bell. Whoever he was, he must’ve had some stage training to make himself heard over so much noise. Ziggy would almost be impressed, if he weren’t so annoyed. Some people were just born to be buzzkills.

Venus’ voice next to him captures Ziggy’s attention once again, and he gives her a nod to indicate that he’s listening. Her answer is far from surprising; most people only end up at Upper Lake because they had no other choice. Wanting to see the world? He could understand that. After all, there’s only so much you can do before you had to step out of your comfort zone. For a second, he considers inquiring further about Venus’ past, but soon finds himself faced with a question of his own.

Jeez… I don’t think anyone enjoys freezing their balls off.” He laughs, shaking his head. Then, the levity of the moment wears off, leaving behind a lingering silence as Ziggy attempts to gather his thoughts. Come to think of it, he never really understood what drew him to Upper Lake. Sure, his SATs weren’t anything to write home about, but he could’ve just gone to any old college in Portland instead of moving all the way out here. Maybe, like Venus, he just wanted to get away from it all, away from the same buildings, streets, and bad memories. It’s one thing leaving everything behind to start a new life, but no matter how much he tried to convince himself otherwise, he still wanted a place he could go back to if things went south.

“Seems like we’re on the same boat. Thought Upper Lake would be a nice change of pace with all the… snow. Less distractions, and all that.” Ziggy doesn’t sound entirely convinced by his own answer, though he plays it off with a one-shouldered shrug. When he does speak again, his voice is tinged with wry amusement, like he was sharing an inside joke. “I’m from Portland, so like, you know I’ve seen a ton of weird shit.”

There’s a sudden pause in conversation as he looks up to see familiar, blonde someone approaching them. …Wait, that’s the guy who was shouting at poor, old Lilly earlier, wasn’t it? Ziggy feels his hackles rise when he drags a chair over where they were sitting, but decides against saying anything incendiary. Instead, he simply nods his head in greeting, and allows himself a chuckle at the other’s attempt at a joke.

“Yeah, the Guardians of the Galaxy was already taken, so…” Ziggy doesn’t bother to finish the sentence, and instead just gives Julius a wry sort of smile. This time, however, he doesn’t offer a hand to shake as he introduces himself. “I’m Ziggy, and uh, I’ll let the lady make her own introductions.”

“Pretty rough back there, man.” He nods towards where Lilly is standing, his implication clear. “You feelin’ okay?”

He’s more irritated than concerned, really, but he wasn’t about to have his night ruined by a fight. At the very least, Julius seems to have calmed down some, which was a good start. Still, he didn’t want to risk another blow-up like the one prior, and he knew just the solution.

Baring his teeth in an impish grin, Ziggy nudges the tray of brownies closer to Julius. “Hey, why don’t you try one? They’re my special recipe.”

Interacting with: Lou, Julius, Seoyeon

The response was certainly something amusing. She momentarily thought how it would have been perfect if he had dropped the cup that he was holding earlier. It was such a cliche moment in many an animation that the scene has been ingrained in her memories. Still, it meant that the question had taken him by surprise and Lilly wasn't sure if she should taken that as a hint for suspicion or to chalk it up to how Lou usually is. Then again, any interaction with Lou is something that was always laced with some uncertaint.

But, he gave a pretty legitimate response... even if he did use 'tummy mc tum tums'. She shrugged. "Oh okay. Well, be careful... I guess?" She replied unsurely. A lot of the cooks that she knew typically tasted their meals before to make sure that it turned out well and it was generally harmless. At least she can go on knowing that Lou was happy with what he had made as well. He was a culinary major so if he liked it, then surely the wings were actually really good.

Lilly had flinched when Julius snapped, shrinking a bit from where she stood. She rarely had any chance to really interact with Julius so she had no idea how to handle him. Well she couldn't really handle anyone at the current venue since it had only been a week with them - but Julius always seemed like someone who didn't really match with her. Still, she didn't want to get on his bad side. That would be lead to a very bad future relationship with one of her charges.

Lou had filled the silence and Lilly had avoided looking at them for a moment, taking a sip from her cup to push back the onset of the panic that would surely come at a later date as she looked back at this interaction. It would seem that Lou had managed to calm him down though. Julius had apologized, albeit seemingly forced, but she guessed that was fine. It was fine. She gave him a nod in return.

But wait... 'un-snogged'? The chicken? That only meant that- then the earlier slip up was- it had to be that right? She looked back at Lou and then towards the chicken wings where Seoyeon had been - devouring the wings. She opened her mouth and closed it again, unsure of what exactly to say. She repeated it once, then twice, then seemed to settle on keeping her mouth shut for another moment to truly process it. "You know what? I... I'm not even gonna ask Lou. I trust you enough Lou." Was it a good idea? Probably not. Did she care? Lilly is finding it hard to do so. At least the chicken wings weren't laced with cyanide or something. She took another sip from her cup as she surveyed the area.

Buford had come back with a wagon with a full load. She was pretty sure she had seen a sex doll in there and she felt her stomach churn at the mere thought of what they could do with it. There was a bunch of other things in there but Lilly was not very keen in delving into whatever shit Buford had brought to them.

"Hey, looks like Seoyeon is liking your chicken wings." Lilly said as she patted Lou's shoulder before making her way to the Korean girl with Lou hopefully in stow. "Hey, Seoyeon-" She winced at the attempt on saying her name. "Er, sorry if I butchered that." Lilly, nevertheless, relaxed against the wall near them. "Enjoying the party so far?"

"I get that a lot."

Location: Dorm Floor

Interaction: Lilly Forrester

Seoyeon flinched and raised her brow at what sounded like her name, she was mid chew on a big ol' bite of chicken wing which made her reaction a bit of a laughable moment. "Orhf fruck... (Oh fuck...)" She muttered under her breath as she noticed the girl heading towards her. She licked her fingers clean as fast as she could and took a sip of her beer to wash down the salty goodness of those chicken wings. She wiped her hands on her pants and tried her best to make sure that wasn't noticeable. Though after hearing Lilly's attempt to pronounce her name, she had to correct her, "It's pronounced Seoyeon (Syo-yun) not Soyeon (So-yun) alright? Seo... (Syo...) Yeon... (Yun...) Don't worry about butchering it too much, I get that a lot." Said Seoyeon, she always had to clarify with new people but she was used to it at this point.

She laughed a bit, brushing a bit of her hair to the side before swirling the beer she had in her cup. She patted her stomach and let out a quick burp which was followed by her covering her mouth with her fist, her eyes even squinted a bit as she was trying to pass it off as something nonchalant. "Anyway, yeah, I am thoroughly enjoying the party, because shit like this isn't prominent back home." Said Seoyeon before taking a sip of her beer and setting it down. "I'm not good with names, you're uhh... Millie? No, Ellie?- Wait, uhh... fuck... Uhh... Kaaatiee? Yeah I don't know." Seoyeon continued, she was most likely wrong, well she did only know like 2-3 people in the whole institute.

This whole interaction isn't Seoyeon's smoothest interaction but it is how she interacts with most people.

Venus could definitely relate to Ziggy's reasoning for choosing to come to Upper Lake; a change of pace was exactly what the young woman needed after spending the first eighteen years of her life in the bustling city. Living in Alaska was completely different from living in Georgia, and it would take her at least another couple of months to adjust to such a new environment. In Alaska it was calm, it was quiet, and it snowed a hell of a lot more than Venus was used to. But in the end, she hoped that she would eventually grow to like it. After all, she would be spending a lot of her time there for the next three to four years.

Soon after Ziggy finished speaking, another person decided to join them; a tall boy with blonde hair and fair skin had pulled up a chair not too far from the tattered couch. Venus stayed silent as she eyed the young man, taking in his apparent expensive taste in clothing and slightly frigid demeanor. It didn't take long for Venus to realize that this was the same boy who'd just gotten out of a heated discussion with their floor manager; while she wasn't too sure of what the whole thing was about, she did know that he had seemed pretty upset. The boy, who'd introduced himself as Julius before making a futile attempt at a joke, reminded Venus of a few select classmates from back home: uptight and in desperate need of a blunt. "I'm Venus," the young woman said after Ziggy had made his own brief introduction, "but you both can call me Vee if you want."

The young woman fell silent once more as Ziggy inquired about what happened between Julius and Lilly, her curiosity getting the better of her. It wasn't until after Ziggy nudged the plate of pot brownies in Julius's direction that Venus piped back up. "Yeah, you should definitely try one," she said, her lips spreading into a sly smile. "I ate one earlier. Pretty good if you ask me."

Buford realized fairly quickly that he was carrying his conversation with the redhead, and decided to just move along. Ford was the sort to push a little bit to see if he could get the conversation going, but even he knew when it had become a lost cause. Like talking to a wall.

He wandered a bit, not wanting to inject himself into any of the current conversations. They were already proceeding quite nicely and he didn't really want to terribly inconvenience anyone if he could help it. So, he bundled up his wagon of miscellaneous items and made his way to wherever it seemed the grub had been hidden away.

Once he found the counter where things seemed to be gathered, Dord began unloading his wares onto the countertop, doing his best to make them look vaguely presentable.

Soon, the same countertop with the original platter of wings now had 2 beer kegs, 3 boxes of wine, 2 bottles of Jack, 48 additional chicken wings (which he kept separate from the lovingly homemade stuff, which was probably better), 6 Po-boy sandwiches, 8 bags of chips, and 8 sorts of dip. The only thing he hadn't brought with him was plastic plates and cutlery. Which seemed lacking.

"HEY!" He called out over the music, "Food's here! I've also got Twister!"

Interacting with: Seoyeon

"Ohh..." She drawled out the word in understanding accompied with a nod as she was given an explanation on how to say her floormate's name. "Well, I'll make sure to say it correctly this time." She reassured the Korean with a nod. "Seoyeon." She finalized, mimicking the pronounciation her companion said earlier. It sounded right in her head, hopefully her mouth translated exactly what she said in mind. It did, but there was always that underlying doubt that gnawed in her brain. Her fingers tightened around her cup a few times in an attempt to dispel the anxious thoughts.

She couldn't help but giggle as Seoyeon let out a burp which she covered up rather quickly. That was pretty cute. An amused smile was left on Lilly's face even after Seoyeon changed the subject to avoid getting called out for it. "Highschool not as wild as this?" She asked, tilting her head towards the ongoing party around them. "I think that's good. I remember my highschool had a rager every other week." An exaggeration, but it might as well have been with all the news she kept on hearing about.

As Seoyeon began listing off names that could have potentially been hers, Lilly's amused smile only grew wider. "At least it rhymes." She said first with a light chuckle, bringing up the hand holding her cup to her lips to cover it. She settled dowm a moment after. "It's Lilliana. But people just call me Lilly." She raised her cup towards her and then continued. "I hope you remember it. I am your floor manager after all. I'd rather not have you calling me that when you have a problem."

Julius APPARENTLY preferred his chicken not to be kissed.

Lou knew that it was only because he hadn't tried this method out yet. Hadn't he ever heard that if you make love to your food it tasted better? Or maybe it was that if you loved to make food it tasted better? Regardless, the way he did it worked great so far and there were never any complaints prior to this. Clearing his throat uncomfortably, he could only sit and listen to Julius yell at both him and Lilly. At least he had the decency to apologize to Lilly about his outburst, and he did end up wishing them a good time- so perhaps he was still a good candidate for being his best friend.

When Lilly made her comment about her level of trust, Lou just gave her a quick nod- "I think he is just upset, and speaking crazy." he brought up his finger and twirled it around in the air to signal that Julius was crazy. Her hand reached up to his shoulder and patted it, letting him know that Seoyeon enjoyed his wings. He looked over to her, recalling that she had exclaimed something about the wings earlier but he hadn't gone to thank her. Following after Lilly like a puppy, he would soon get his chance.

He stood idle by as the two women talked to one another. Lou made note of how to pronounce Seoyeon's name so that he could refer to her properly when they crossed paths next. When Lilly and Seo properly introduced each other, Lou found it a good time to introduce himself to Seoyeon, as well get into the conversation. "HELLO." he said loudly, and a bit abrasive as he went from Lilly's backside to her direct side. "I'm Lou, and I made the wings that you thought were delicious! I added you, but you probably just haven't had time to accept it I guess." he gushed, happy that she had enjoyed the food. He finished off his vodka. He then took a few samples of his wings and other foods that a new person had placed on the counter. He proceeded to drop them into his cup.

He did not want to waste the rare plate and would use this cup for everything for the rest of the night and perhaps the day after.

The loud voice of the man calling next to him made his attention shoot directly to him. He was awfully loud, but it seemed that he had brought a lot of offerings to the party and that was a kind thing to do. Turning his body slightly to look into the wagon a beautiful young woman with bright blue eyes covered in sunglasses and shockingly bright blonde hair stared back at him. Her skin was flawless, her breasts perky and her body extremely petite. Her lips were nothing like he had never seen, as if they were surprised to see Lou's gaze as he was to see that she was stark naked. Lou's cheeks turned a heavy shade of pink, "You are a bit under dressed for the party miss." he spoke quietly between his giggles.

Lou had never seen a naked woman in all of his life, let alone one that was made of plastic.

He turned his attention away from her, she was far too much into getting people's attention and that is not the type of woman Lou would want to have a serious relationship with. Plus it was clear that she was Buford's girl as they had arrived together and she hadn't made any attempt to speak to anyone else since they arrived. He raised his hand to block his eyes and mouth as he spoke to both Lilly and Seoyeon trying to hide his voice and mouth from Buford; "I'm glad she's not from our floor- she seems like a lot of trouble, and we don't need that." Lou shook his head, reaching into his cup to snack on some of the goodies he had dropped in there earlier.

“Hey, I’m Julius. Are you guys the guardians of the brownies or somethin?”

Now that he was closer to the two couch sitters he had a chance to take a better look at them. On the left was a guy with wild hair who reminded Julius of the slacker stereotype in every teen movie ever, and next to him was a pretty, darker skinned girl with large brown eyes. They seemed slightly standoffish as he approached, but that might have been just a side-effect of him entering their group mid-conversation.
Wild-hair dropped his head in a tight nod of greeting at Julius’ entrance and gave a restrained laugh at his astoundingly witty opening line. The girl simply stared him down, her gaze shifting from head to toe before flicking back to his face. He wasn't sure if her expression was approving or the opposite.

“Yeah, the Guardians of the Galaxy was already taken, so…” the boy said, the sentence trailing off as he either lost his train of thought or the energy to complete it. Julius gave a dry almost-grimace at the joke out of politeness.

“I’m Ziggy, and uh, I’ll let the lady make her own introductions,” he continued.

"I'm Venus," she cut in. "But you both can call me Vee if you want."

A moment of silence stretched for just slightly too long before Julius realised he should probably say something.

“Uh.. nice to meet you guys.”

“Pretty rough back there, man.” Ziggy said, his tone slightly hostile as he nodded in the direction of Lily. She had looked shell shocked after he had opened up on her, and rightfully so. He would be lying if he said he didn’t regret it, but as floor manager this party thing was kind of wholly her responsibility. If she couldn’t control a small first-week gathering what hope would she have for the rest of the year?

“You feelin’ okay?”

What the hell was that supposed to mean? For a second Julius’ temper flared and he felt like opening up the pressure valve again. But where would that get him? Making enemies this early wasn’t a good idea, and he’d already dicked around the floor manager. With difficulty he controlled his pissiness and let out a pent-up sigh.

“I don’t know, man. I’ve just been so highly strung lately.” He held up a slightly shaky hand to show them before continuing. “I feel like I’m balanced on a tightrope above a pit of losing control and being a prick… and this party was like someone sweeping out my legs from under me.” Julius fell silent for a moment as he realised he was probably sharing more than the question required. “I guess I’ve just never been too good at letting loose and enjoying myself. Wish I knew how.” He leaned forward in his chair and ran his hands through his long hair, balancing his elbows on his outstretched knees.

“Hey, why don’t you try one? They’re my special recipe.” Ziggy pushed the brownie plate closer to Julius before exchanging a grin with Venus that Julius was too distracted to notice. The dark chocolate, slightly crispy looking brownies did look inviting.

"Yeah, you should definitely try one," she said, smiling too. "I ate one earlier. Pretty good if you ask me."

Julius eyed the brownie plate with slight curiosity. The two of them seemed slightly keener than just trying out Ziggy’s ‘special recipe’ warranted, but what was the worst that could happen? He stretched a hand out and selected a particularly chunky looking one from the top of the pile. As he raised it to his mouth, he looked back at the two expectant faces on the couch. Shaking off the slightly uneasy gut feeling he had about the brownie, he bit down.

“Well...” Julius struggled initially for words. “It’s not bad.” This was a blatant lie. It tasted like no brownie he had eaten before- the taste of chocolate seemed to have been an afterthought added after an overpowering flavour of what almost reminded him of eating grass. Holding the brownie closer to the light he could see little specks of green in between the crispy chocolate chunks. He picked one out and inspected the small piece on the end of his finger.

“Dude, what’s up with this? Did you put herbs in here or something?” He was almost more curious and baffled than annoyed at the weird taste. While every brownie he’d eaten before had tasted a lot sweeter, those had been back home across the country. Their ways were a lot different to his own here. They probably did more folk dancing. And who knew, maybe they made their brownies savoury with herbs too.

Ziggy gets a little distracted listening to Julius’ explanation. When he tips his head back, he sees a moth on the ceiling that flutters menacingly at him, the eyespots on its wings masquerading as the hungry, feral glare of a predator. It reminds him of one of those nature documentaries he watched as a kid. In the wild, survival was the only thing that mattered — eat or be eaten, kill or be killed. Those creatures whose only defense was the ability to make themselves appear deadlier than they truly were… He lets his head fall forwards once again, eyes meeting Julius’ own.

Maybe it was just the weed kicking in, but Ziggy was starting to see a connection between the kid and one of those animals he mentioned earlier. In another life, Julius could’ve been a porcupine, or perhaps a frilled-neck lizard if he thought the former was too boring. All that bluster seemed like a front for some serious teen angst. Ah, to be young and wild again. Of course, the whole thing could just be Ziggy letting his imagination get away from him; he had an unfortunate tendency of doing that whenever he found himself under the influence, but at least he hasn’t started to wax poetic about nothing at all.

Satisfied, Ziggy watches on as the newest member of their party of three finally succumbs to peer pressure. Shooting Venus a conspiratorial look, he sinks further into the couch, and tugs the collar of his hoodie up over his mouth. The change in Julius’ expression is nearly enough to make him burst into laughter, but he manages to stifle it with a cough.

“Yeah, herbs. They’re real good for you. Organic.” Ziggy downs the rest of his beer, and leaves the now-empty bottle on the floor next to the couch. He’ll get rid of it later. For now, he turns back to look at Julius, shrugging noncommittally. “They’re fine, dude, trust me. Don’t tell me you’ve never had an edible before?”

Before long, he feels the edges of his mind start to fuzz, and his muscles relax, a haziness in his arms and legs. Slow and steady, like slipping beneath the waves.

“Aren’t you guys hungry?” Reaching across the table, Ziggy pops open a pizza box from a place called Carmelo’s, and nearly gags when he sees what’s on it — feta cheese, mushrooms, and worst of all, anchovies. What kind of monster would do something like this?

“I’m, uh, pretty sure this breaks the Geneva conventions.”

Shuddering in disgust, Ziggy allows the lid of the box to fall closed, and tears into a yet-unopened bag of Cool Ranch Doritos instead. Before he delivers a brittle, orange tortilla chip straight into his ravenous maw, he pipes up again, this time with an exclamation directed across the hallway. “Yo, Ford! Get over here! I’m starving!”

When he turns back to Venus and Julius, Ziggy’s voice is muffled from speaking through a mouthful of chips. “Sho, what are y’all here for? Like, what’re you guysh shtudying?”

"A new beginning or some shit like that."

Location: Dorm Floor

Interaction: Lilly Forrester, Lou Liu

Seoyeon shrugged when Lilly mentioned highschool, Korea wasn't really good at parties like this, it's one of those things that are very much frowned upon back where she came from. "Yeah, if any of us threw a party back in Seoul, we would be punished, expelled, and deserted by our families... Okay, maybe not the family part but you get the idea." Said Seoyeon before finishing off her beer. She looked down in her cup a bit upset that her drink was empty and that she'd have to get a new one, but that can wait. Seoyeon put down her cup on the table beside her, a few inches away from the plate of wings as Lilly introduced herself. "Okay Lilly, nice to meet you and since you're the manager, should I call you with honourifics? You know, the usual Korean 'Unnie' if you've heard it before." Said Seoyeon informing her of Korean tradition of respect, maybe it doesn't apply here in Alaska but who knows, it might.

Seoyeon then reached a little ways down the table and grabbed herself a second cup of alcohol for her to enjoy, which she knows she will and continued on with her little chat with Lilly. Suddenly, a loud 'Hello !' startled Seoyeon for a moment, causing her body to flinch, her eyes to widen, and her hand to jolt a bit to cause a little splash from her new cup of beer. This man then came up to the two of them, he looked nice, and had the nice guy vibe to him that Seoyeon really liked in people, even if the hello scared her a bit.

The man introduced himself as the creator of those delicious wings, and Seoyeon immediately jumped on that fact. She put her beer down and thoroughly shook his hand. "Dude, fuck, those wings were yours?! Holy shit, you have to make me more, it's like the legit the best tasting non-spicy wings I have ever ate, you're fucking amazing dude !" Seoyeon exclaimed, and almost jumped in her excitement to meet the genius behind those wings, she wanted the recipe but asking for it up front probably won't be the best idea, maybe he'll share it with here once they've gotten to know each other a little more; after all it's been like 3 minutes. Lou then said that he added her on Facebook, so she had to explain her situation. "I barely open facebook anymore, just follow me on twitter and you can contact me there, my DMs are open... To anyone who won't send dick picks... Or toe fungus... Or anything gross."

Seoyeon, being the person that she was played along with Lou when he did the half mouth cover thing, she proceeded to do the same for her reply. "Yeah it would, anyway, let me formally introduce myself, I'm renasha blitz and I'm your freestyle dance teacher, kidding, I'm Seoyeon Kang, Dance Major." She said with a quick face scrunch followed by her smile and wink, which both lead to her laughing at it afterwards.

Confused and more than a little frightened, Ylva shook her head. Sounds that did not make sense bombarded her ears. Bodiless voices floated around her. They were speaking in a language that she recognized, yet nothing she heard made sense to her.
She leaned back against the wall. Somehow, she had known it was there, without looking. She took a few deep breaths and carefully opened her eyes. At first the light was overwhelming, and all she could see were shadows moving around in the distance. She started to breathe faster, a feeling of panic rising from her stomach. As her eyes slowly adjusted to the light, Ylva began to recognize her surroundings. The Party she thought to herself. Just breathe! New school, new people, new party!

Relieved, Ylva took a few deep breaths and calmed herself. How long had she been out of it? And what had triggered it this time? Ylva had had spells like these before, but they usually occurred when she was stressed out or communicating with the other side. And she always felt it coming, except for this one. Also, she didn't remember anything. It was as if she'd been drawn into a dead line. She shook her head again, and shrugged her shoulders. This was not the time to worry about that. She would have ample time for that later tonight. Great, another sleepless night! No wonder! I'm probably dreamwalking.
The more she calmed down, the more Ylva looked around. She vaguely remembered someone trying to talk to her. His voice had brought her back to the present. She looked around the dorm full of new people, recognizing a few faces here and there and slowly she fell back into place.

Unwilling to draw too much attention to herself, she pushed away from the wall and found that she could stand on her own. She hesitantly took a few steps and smiled. Balance is good. Her thoughts were rudely interrupted by the sound of her stomach rumbling, Balance is good. Food is better and Ylva instinctively walked towards the food. She put the plate of waffles she'd been carrying down and grabbed a few pieces of chicken. Perfect! then huh, that was weird! She finished her chicken, staring thoughtfully ahead, and looked around for something sweeter. She caught sight of the brownies and decided to go make a few friends. Completely ignoring her own absent spell and waffles, Ylva smiled as she sat down and pointed at the brownies. Hello, is there room for one more? These look great!

"Whatever you say," Hangyeol replies, shrugging it off. While he isn't too sure about using a stain as a fashion statement, it's not his shirt and the amount of fuss he can give about such a small thing is basically zero. And as long as she doesn't mind, Hangyeol can get away with this momentary lapse of attention and move on with his life. Still, it's good to make sure--just once more. "If you need it, though, I can probably get the stain out. I'm pretty good at that." Perks of thrifting your entire wardrobe: you get really good at removing weird stains. And repairing frayed sleeves... and patching holes. Hangyeol would make his own clothes, but buying all that cloth is expensive.

"Hangyeol. Hangyeol Yoon. It's good to meet you," Hangyeol says, torn between bowing, putting out his hand to shake, and simply letting it be. He feels uneasy without a full introduction, after spending so much time in a country that values formality and respect above all. But since English has none of the tricky verb endings and honorifics that force everybody to ask each other's age right off the bat, he lets it be. Asking her age would just be impolite, anyway.

"Anyway..." Hangyeol trails off, taking in the variety of scenes around them. It's been a long time since he's properly had a conversation with somebody near his own age, and his social skills are generally pretty rusty. The last person he talked to was the convenience store clerk, and he was a middle-aged man. And before that was two weeks ago, the bus driver... Wait, he's getting off-track again.

"Sorry. My mind was wandering," he apologizes, then cracks a smile (the close-lipped, polite kind). "I'll take a guess and say... you're not from Alaska?"

“Yeah, herbs. They’re real good for you. Organic.”

Venus couldn't help but shake her head once again as she secretly pinched her arm in a desperate attempt to stop a giggle from escaping her lips. She had already started to feel the effects of the brownie she'd eaten not too long ago; all of a sudden, things just seemed to be a lot more funny than they probably were in actuality. The expression that had spread over Julius's face as he inspected the small, green speck of marijuana that sat at the tip of his finger nearly caused Venus to burst into a fit of laughter. Nevertheless, the young woman maintained her composure; she took a moment to clear her throat before adding on to what Ziggy had already said. "Yeah, I thought you knew they were pot brownies, Julius."

Then Ziggy mentioned that he had gotten hungry, and as if on cue, Venus felt her stomach growl in anticipation. She watched with hungry eyes as he lifted the lid of a nearby pizza box, but cringed once she'd finally laid eyes on its contents. Ziggy's next move was to grab a blue bag of Cool Ranch Doritos, which caused Venus to cringe once more; in her opinion, the Spicy Sweet Chili flavored chips were the only kind of Doritos that were worth eating. But before the boy tossed one of the orange triangles into his mouth, he called over to someone named Ford. Venus turned her head in the same direction; it didn't take her long to figure out that Ford was the name of the boy who'd brought along the sex doll. "Film and media," Venus said shortly after in response to Ziggy's question, "music videos, vlogs, photo shoots... basically, if it involves using a camera, I'm all for it."

"Hello, is there room for one more?" a new voice suddenly piped up, causing Venus to redirect her attention. Her gaze landed upon a pale girl with large, thick framed glasses and hair the color of a sunset. Without a word, Venus simply scooted closer to the arm of the couch before motioning for the other woman to take a seat next to her. It was when the redhead made a remark about the brownies that Venus picked up the plate and passed it along.

"They're pot brownies, girl," Venus said before the girl could make the same mistake as Julius, "So if it's something sweet that you're looking for, I'm afraid that your craving won't be satisfied with these puppies."

Dorm Floor -> Floor above
Saturday, 6:00 pm
Interacting with: Seoyeon, Lou

Lilly nodded in understanding. She's heard that those in the Eastern countries had a more conservative outlook in life. She wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. "Well at least you can enjoy one now. Just don't have too much fun." She said with a low voice, obviously mocking an adult. Of course, she often took those words to heart but only because she had to keep herself sober enough to take care of others. It was always a problem when they get too drunk or too high to function anymore or get in trouble, so she figured that she should at least put on an effort to avoid such things from happening. As she was thinking that, she took another sip from her cup.

She tilted her head at Seoyeon and then quickly shook her head. "Well, we usually don't say anything but if you want to, go ahead." She replied with a dismissive wave of her hand before also jumping in surprise with Lou's loud entrance. Lilly offered the guy a small smile as she stepped aside to make some room for Lou. She was glad that the two of them seem to be getting along. Lilly kept quiet as the two interacted - or as Seoyeon gave a fangirl like reaction for the wings that Lou has bestowed upon them. What was said earlier aside, Lilly was probably going to try it out later once she's done making another round.

Lou had gone on to speak to the sex doll that was laying down (standing up?) at the wagon and Lilly couldn't help but smile to herself. How innocent. It wasn't soon until Lou had come back to tell them that he was glad she wasn't from their floor. Lilly was unsure whether to play along or not but Seoyeon was quick to reply and ignore it. Lilly had just shrugged it off. Her eyes passed the sex doll again and there was some part of her that was glad that it wasn't being used just yet.

When the two were getting acquainted, she gave a nod to Seoyeon and a pat to Lou's shoulder and gestured that she was going to leave. Lilly was here to take care of everyone, not two specific people. She dropped her cup at a nearby table - it was nearly empty anyway - and she began making another round. She waved at some who called out to her while they were drinking - calling out to her about joining them and she just laughed and moved on. There were a bunch of people (surprisingly including Julius) around the pot brownies and she nodded at them as well.

As she was moving around, alone, there was a scream. It didn't come from their floor - but above. Lilly looked around and it didn't seem like many people noticed. Maybe it was because she was quiet and alone. Maybe it was because she was on full alert for everyone. Lilly knew what she needed to do though. Passing by everyone else in a rush, she moved to the stairs to find out what had happened. At least she was still sober.

Dorm Hall
Interacting with: Yoon Hangyeol @OliveYou

The Asian guy in front of her was making a generous offer but it would definitely be strange for her to be asking a person she just met to clean her clothes. Besides, Sasha was pretty good with removing stains herself. It was one of the things that her grandmother taught her. "For when you have your own home and you want everything to be clean and spotless." It was what she always said. The memory gave Sasha a warm feeling. Despite it being years since she passed away, she still missed her grandmother so much.

Pushing aside reminiscing about the older lady to a later time, she turned her attention back to her new acquaintance. She politely declined the offer with a shake of her head. "Really, it's okay. I can take care of it. Thanks for the offer though." Consciously, she looked down at the stain. Orange against blue. It really wasn't that bad but then maybe she really needed to remove it. "No stains should be left unattended," her grandmother's voice echoed in her head.

Sasha almost laughed. да, бабушка. she thought to herself.

A little guilty that her mind kept drifting somewhere else, she turned it back to the present, determined to keep it there. Hangyeol Yoon. A Korean name. It was both strange and fascinating to hear his name. She tried saying it out loud, her tongue not familiar with the pronunciation of the foreign name. When it came out sounding a little strange, she gave him a small embarrassed smile. "I'm sorry. I'm sure I'll get the hang of saying your name in time," she apologized immediately. "You're Korean, right? she smiled prettily this time. "My first Korean friend then...if you don't mind me calling you a friend." And then she shook her head. "No, I'm not from around here. I'm from Russia."

Well, he was late, and why you may be asking was Alex late? Because he had somehow succeeded at getting lost. Even when using the GPS on his phone. That would be the kind of thing that'd seem impossible but in his defense, the phone kept glitching out trying to get him to walk down a road that didn't even exist. The fact that he hadn't left his room unless it was for class didn't seem to help either. The whole day he had been avoiding the members of his floor as he knew they were planning a party.

On that note, it's not that he was late to the party. He was late for skipping the party. Alex wanted to get back to his dorm before the party started leaving them about half of the pizza he was carrying as his contribution. As he was standing outside the building with his local restaurant pizza and 2-liter mountain dew, he could already hear the music. Great. There's no chance of me sneaking past is there. He started thinking back to how his twin sister told him he'd need to at least try to make friends. Why was that necessary though? He chose Alaska because he expected there to be fewer people. But there were more people at this university than he had expected. He also had the unfortunate circumstance of one of his roommates being overbearingly friendly. It was kind of annoying because Alex didn't want to be rude, but he had to admit the guy was alright. If he decided to socialize then he'd probably talk to him.

Resigning to his fate of eventually being dragged into the party he began climbing the stairs with the music becoming more prominent with each step. Once he arrived at his floor he realized he had no free hands to open the door. He tried pushing it but the thing wouldn't budge. He kicked it a few times hoping someone would hear but with the music that was doubtful. Groaning he stuck the 2-liter under his arm and reached for the door when he heard a scream. At first, he thought that it may have come from the other side of the door but he eventually realized it had come from a little bit above. He quickly put down the pizza and soft drink to begin running up the stairs when someone exited into the stairwell looking like she had come to the same conclusion as he had.

INTERACTIONS
Lilly Forrester, Venus Alexander, Ylva Ulven

When Lilly passes by where they were sat – presumably to make sure that nobody at the party was getting too crazy – Ziggy shoots her a joking, two-fingered salute. And then, she’s off again. As he watches her swiftly retreating form, he can’t help but feel a slight pang of worry well up within him. She seemed agitated, somehow. Was something wrong? Apart from Julius blowing up in her face earlier, anyway. Or maybe it was something serious.

Eh, he was probably thinking too much into it. Lilly was the floor manager, she had important things to do. Besides, nothing important ever happened here. It was more likely that someone had set off the sprinklers trying to hotbox their dorm room than a matter of life and death.

After Lilly disappears behind the crowd, Ziggy turns his attention back to the present. Venus’ answer to his question elicits from him a response of incredulity, eyes widening in pleasant surprise. Even though he was more of a writer, he understood the importance of camerawork, and meeting someone with a different point of view was always a treat. This time, he remembers to swallow the crunchy, ranch-flavored mess of Doritos in his mouth before even attempting to speak again. “I’m in screenwriting, maybe we’ll end up on a project together someday.”

Then, he turns to see someone new. It was a girl. Her long, flowing hair was the color of fire—or maybe copper would be a more fitting description. People didn’t have hair that looked like fire, that was ridiculous. Either way, Ziggy figured he should probably say something before the newcomer thought he was dumb, mute, or both.

“H-”

Right as he speaks up, Venus does the same, so he cuts himself off, leaning back in his seat, and gives the redhead a little wave in greeting.

“Yeah, no, they’re more of a—” Ziggy makes a vague waving motion with his hand. He isn’t quite sure what he means by it.

Nodding to a stack of folding chairs propped up against the wall, he says, “Hey, why don’t you pull a chair over? You kind of look like you’re about to pass out.”

Admittedly, he’s a little concerned by the girl’s complexion, but that same concern is quickly drowned out by the growing heaviness in his limbs. Ziggy blinks once, twice, then scrubs a hand over his face, lets out a quiet huff of laughter. He could feel the music thrumming through his bones, and beneath the soles of his sneakers. Like a heartbeat, he thinks.

Ziggy briefly contemplates cracking open another beer, though decides against it in the end. There’s plenty of time for him to get drunk later. But for now, he’s content to just… sit here. He had decent company, piles of junk food, and a high that was slowly but surely making everything in the world feel just a little bit better.

A moment later, he blinks again, as if he’s suddenly reminded of the new girl’s presence. Oh, right; he still had to make his introductions. Letting out a throat-clearing cough into the collar of his hoodie, Ziggy begins to recite the whole nice-to-meet-you spiel for the third time tonight.

“I’m Ziggy. It’s a pleasure to, uh… sorry, what was your name again?”

Pot brownies, eh? That explains a lot. She winks at Ziggy. I could do with a little relaxing, but that's not my poison. Hang on. Ylva walks back over to the food and piles a few things onto a plate. She grabs herself a beer and returns to sit down next to Venus.Hey Ziggy, I'm Ylva, sorry did I forget to slip that in? Temporarily distracted by Lilly flashing by Does she look worried? Drunk fight already? Ylva almost missed Ziggy's not so coherent speech.

Suddenly selfconscious, Ylva runs her free hand through her hair. She gulps down some beer and nibbles on a waffle. Then she shrugs. We can't all look good all the time, can we? Comes with the hair, I guess. So, how did you guys end up here? Nibbling on her brownie, Ylva took the time to take it all in and center herself. She looked around the room, watching everyone have fun, and for the first time in a very long time, Ylva realised she felt like she belonged somewhere. She smiled to herself and leaned back in the sofa, enjoying the stuff happening around her.

Suddenly she realized the other guy in the group hadn't said a word. He didn't even seem to register they were there. Guess he's not handling them too well? Ylva smiled. Maybe she'd try one later, when she felt a little more grounded.

“They’re fine, dude, trust me. Don’t tell me you’ve never had an edible before?”

“An edible? Isn’t all food edib…” It had taken far longer than it should have for the gears in Julius’ head to slowly click into place. Lack of sleep and the sudden stress of the party had taken their toll on him and his train of thought seemed to be running on busted tracks. His mouth was feeling dry all of a sudden and he coughed, sending brownie crumbs and pieces of ‘organic herbs’ spiralling over the front of his shirt.

"Yeah, I thought you knew they were pot brownies, Julius," Venus said with an annoying smile. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand before replying.

“Why the hell would you ruin a perfectly good brownie by putting pot in it?” he said peevishly, brushing crumbs off of his expensive shirt. But what was done was done. He’d taken a second bite of the brownie out of politeness before his realization and already eaten the best part of half the cake. Maybe it was just paranoia, but his heart seemed to already be beating faster and it felt like his muscles were unwinding like a frayed thread of string as they relaxed.

Julius had never smoked or, probably shockingly to Ziggy, had one of these ‘edibles’ before. All he knew about weed was from panic pieces on the news around the legalization movement and what he recalled of his father’s ranting on ‘those damn millennials and their bongs’ whenever he took the fancy.
According to the news, it made you drop out of school and turn into a mindless drug-addled zombie. Or maybe that was heroin… It felt like his thoughts were leaking from the bottom of his brain and leaving behind a mellow blankness that was almost a welcome relief from the strains of life.

When Ziggy reached out to the stack of pizza boxes in front of him, Julius merely sank back further in his chair and stared at the ceiling. It didn’t feel worth it to get angry about the brownie trick, and he observed the half-eaten one in his hand with a detached feeling. The other students around him were talking, but the sound felt like it was travelling through water before it reached his ears.
All that mattered was the brownie in his hand. His eyes were glued on it, examining it’s microscopic details. The slight burn on the crust of the bottom, the tiny internal structure with all it’s little bubbles and chunks. The way the ceiling light reflected off the sludgy pieces of chocolate entertained him more than it deserved and he spent too long turning the cake in all directions and marvelling at the gleam. And of course, there was the small pieces of marijuana mixed in with the sweet cake.

Why had he shied away from this kind of stuff for so long, scared of the consequences? Perhaps it was time for him to take a little more risks in life. To seize hold of the pot brownie and chow it down, school and the party be damned.

Well, maybe he would if they didn’t taste so bloody awful. Waking from his daze long enough to grab hold of the box Ziggy had discarded, he seized the edge and swung it around to face him. Apparently it hadn’t been to the other boy’s liking, as the smooth surface of the pizza was still a full untouched circle. Mmm, were those anchovies? Feta and mushrooms also adorned the top layer, which was more than enough to convince him to swap the crumbled brownie for a slice.

An insidious thought struck him as he was about to bite and he peered through hooded eyes at his companions. This time, however, they seemed more interested in their conversations than what he was eating. Just to be sure, he poked a finger under and lifted the cheese to inspect the pizza closer before he ate it. Several small leaves rested under, but they looked more like basil than the shredded green of pot. Julius hadn’t heard of pot pizza before, but before tonight he also hadn’t heard of pot brownies.

He hadn’t managed to find the time for lunch today and he found himself downing half of the pizza within a minute before turning his focus back towards the others.

“Sho, what are y’all here for? Like, what’re you guysh shtudying?” Ziggy was saying, or at least what Julius was understanding through his growing high and the other boy’s mouthful of Doritos.

“I’m an actor. Studying… acting,” Julius said, distracted as his eyes shifting away from Ziggy to the newcomer in the group, a girl with almost-orange hair. She hadn’t introduced herself, or perhaps he’d missed her name when he was zoning out so he decided to make the move.

“I’m Julius,” he said, jerking a thumb upwards at his chest. “Is your hair for real?” he asked bluntly, shifting his motion to pointing at her copper locks. The colour seemed way too vivid to come from mama nature, and he suspected it had probably originated instead from a dye box on a supermarket shelf.

𝐘𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐲𝐞𝐨𝐥

Dorm Hall, Saturday, 6:30 PM
Interacting with @Kyrisse

"Fine by me, then," Hangyeol says, satisfied. After all, cleaning somebody else's clothes is kind of... weird. Not that Hangyeol would mind, but she might.

It's not surprising that she gets his name a bit wrong, though. Korean names are generally weird--not difficult, but hard to keep straight sometimes. As are any names, really, that you aren't familiar with. And Hangyeol is as unfamiliar as it comes.

"The trick is to say it really fast," he suggests, smile growing a little wider at Sasha's awkward-yet-sincere attempt at saying it correctly. "Good try, though. And yeah, I'm from Jinju. In Korea." Not somewhere she would know.

And here Hangyeol comes to a standstill. A small but noticeable shockwave leaves him just a bit more rigid, smile momentarily slipping before he re-adjusts himself. Ah.

He's not good at this.

It has been far too long since Hangyeol last tried to do this... friendly thing, and last time it ended terribly. People are not his forte; not since he was little. Since then, he has lived alone, in solitude and darkness and whatnot, until his decision to move. And doesn't it seem a little strange to go around accepting the friend requests if people you barely know? Or is that how it's usually done...?

But Sasha's not dangerous. Not at all. In fact, she's rather harmless. But you never know.

In the midst of a small mental breakdown, Hangyeol's sharp ears catch the sounds of a scream--which, by the way, doesn't help with the whole staying-calm thing. Instead, his heartbeat spikes for a moment before he zeroes in on the source and notices Lilly has already begun to investigate the situation. Then, he decides this could be a good place to bail--er, excuse himself--from the conversation to help Lilly out with whatever happened upstairs. Also because he is more than a bit paranoid and that conversation from earlier is still unnerving.

"Sorry, I'll have to take a rain check on this one," he apologizes, half regretful and half relived to have such a convenient opportunity to get away. "Did you hear that scream? I think the RA might need some help. I'm very sorry, it was nice to have met you!" With that, Hangyeol exits, stage right, towards where Lilly is climbing up the stairs--oh, and somebody else, too. Splendid.
