If I may offer up a different point of view, what this situation in most anyones eyes would be viewed as cheating, regardless of circumstance. It is morrally wrong on all grounds, and isnt exactly accepted, traditionally. What you are suggesting is that Charlotte's feelings can be cast aside for you, despite the fact that shinji had not yet ended that relationship.

I'd go as far as to say that while being in a relationship that you are no longer satisfied with is unhealthy, beginning another whilst maintaining one already is even more so, as it also adds more stress to the situation.
