@RC3 You should be more specific if you want people to know what they are doing wrong. Which posts deviate?

@Vec A clarified this several times. And if it isn't clear, ask. A lot have been giving me questions and I really don't mind. It's better than assuming and getting it wrong. I've PM'd those who deviated.

Not even. Be big brained or a goblin genius, sure. Go out of character, says something about you, but sure. Just no memories. Didn't think that it was difficult.

Oh, no memories at all? I thought memories were like, alright, ever since Saito started doing martial arts and such from the first post, and the sisters were doing some super big brain stuff like livestock shenanigans.

I suppose the confusion comes from this: what exactly does our instinct as three day old goblins grant us? Obviously, hunting and killing is an instinct, but where does our knowledge of crafting tools to more effectively hunt, making traps to more effectively hunt, or understanding that some things are dangerous (such as brightly colored berries) come from, if not from our human memories and knowledge? That's why it feels like it's pretty easy to overstep the boundaries between our differing interpretations of how far 'instinct' goes, and where knowledge begins.

That being said, I'm fine with retconning the whole 'Hoi, back when he was a human, knew how to make fire via fire-drill techs', if goblin instinct doesn't cover knowledge of making fire and they aren't at the stage yet where human knowledge is something they possess.

Acctually yeah that's a good point when you say no memories is it a no memories but contextless knowledge remains or is it just everything is gone in entirety? I, and I think most of us for that matter, was under the impression that our knowledge still remained, but our memories, while still there, were damaged to the point of being unable to paint a proper picture of our old lives beyond a few fractured details.

I don't think I've made too much mention to a past life beyond Aya recalling that she remembered having another name previously though not what that name was and a few references to things like the rope trap which she New of but not how to make, but if I was mistaken about the amount of knowledge we came in with I'm happy to retcon anything.

@ERode@TheMushroomLord I mean, those things I don't mind and didn't really call out. Just no memories; just that. With Saito's martial arts moves, if he says that his instincts told him to, fine by me. If he says that he must've been an old human martial artist from another world, then that I'm not cool with. Same things with the other goblin, build traps, weapons, and whatnot, and just say that its goblin instincts/talent, and not memories from a past life, go for it. It just makes the character metagame-ish, but if they can stomach and tolerate that, go for it. If you want Hoi to make fire with sheer goblin talent and ingenuity, that's okay. But if you say that in his past life was a wild life survivalist and building fires was his thing, than nah. That's why your character's background didn't matter that much. Its a good FYI, but shouldn't influence anything at this point of the story. When I said memories were vague in the first OP, I meant nothing recall-able. Knowing that they were resurrected into something else, sure. Recalling specific details of your past, nah.

If I haven't called you out via PM, that means you haven't done anything wrong.

@ERode I'm probably one of the worse offenders in all this so I'll try to clarify my thoughts on where I went wrong. When writing narrative descriptions or going into Saito's thoughts, I would use words or concepts that flowed naturally in the writing. Think of a cliche, something like the phrase "fit as a fiddle." But Goblins probably wouldn't have any idea what a fiddle was, or what being "as fit" as a fiddle would mean. When I proofread, any time I would find these "natural" phrases or thoughts, things that would immediately come to one's mind, but didn't match up with goblin instincts, I would add a bit about Saito questioning his own memories.

For instance, he likens the goblins running around to his toddlers, and then thinks "...What?" I did that because I thought a very strong memory, a parent's bond, would be something that would unconsciously rise up but that Goblin Saito would not recognize or understand it. This was probably too specific for RC3's purposes, so I shouldn't have done it anyway, but it was meant to be a fleeting thing that, if Saito were to actually try and recall, he would only see static or feel an abstract sense of something not quite right.

As for his martial arts prowess, I intended that to come through more strongly because of the fundamental concept of martial arts training, the muscle memory a practitioner builds up. This is Bruce Lee's "don't think, feel," or like any military training where a specific stimulus is simulated and the reaction to it is repeated, over and over, until the person's nervous system is wired to do it as a reflex. Like Dragon Ball's "Ultra Instinct," this is the cause of the supposed "sixth sense" martial artists are embellished to have. But I probably went too far even with that, as while Saito might instinctively settle into a "stance" that feels the most comfortable, or attack in the way that feels "best" when the "moment feels right," it probably shouldn't have come across as him actually retaining all of his technical knowledge.

I did intend from the beginning that he would have to "rebuild" a lot of his previous life's ability, because the "muscle memory" thing probably doesn't work out so well when you no longer actually have the same muscles and nerves that you spent so long training before.

But yeah I feel like I'm probably the one who bungled all this up the most, so take my examples above as a "don't do this" kind of thing. My apologies.

@RC3I changed my mind about a couple things relating to Tik's loot and where he's going next. I also hope that the change in tone and mentality is more to your liking. Tik will use two of his 8 uses to absorb the two passive skills, if you please.

On a related note, I'm back. And it is good.

@Vec Updates up? Hopefully I didn't miss anyone. Now that took a while. I finished the others earlier, but wanted to post everything at the same time.

@Zeroth@Dark Light@Versa@ERode@Celsius@Celsius@TheMushroomLord@Haeo@demonspade64@Guy0fV4lor@Vec This is a bit more for me than anything else, but when you guys make IC posts, include a two hiders. One for the actions your character took, then the other one to at least have your inventory; you can add other stuff if you want. Although some have already done it, for those who haven't, update your sheets with your new skills and talents, and reduce absorption usages appropriately.

@Guy0fV4lor For the absorption from the stoat, Cull learned...Writhe and Swift.

  • Writhe: The ability to disorient others by rhythmically swaying their body in a sinuous, snakelike motion. [E-Rank] Active
  • Swift: Those with this skill are very quick with their feet; this makes running and any movement general quicker. [E-Rank] Passive

Hopefully that's everything. Just tell me if I missed anything.

I added the hiders you wanted into my last post. You didn't list what Tik absorbed from the rabbit yet. Also, if there's anything that is still unclear or lacking, just let me know what to do.

@ERode action's empty though o3o

@Haeo I knew I missed something. Tik learned...Thick Skin and Escape.

  • Thick Skin: The user has much thicker skin than the average person. This reduces damage from all sources, but in particular reduces damage from physical attacks. (Passive) E-Rank
  • Escape: The ability to flee and get to a safe location much more efficiently. Regardless of the situation, the user gets a bonus when attempting to get away. (Passive) E-Rank

@RC3 Just checking if you missed the levels for my makeshift weapon and shield or are they just not worthy?

Also, this is kinda the idea I am slowly heading towards for my shield.
