supertinyking The Root of all Evil

Member Seen 4 mos ago

Long ago, the Gods faced an ancient enemy which they could not defeat, so the gods to ensure their survival bestowed upon humanity powers and blessings, that they may continue to live on and prosper. Nowadays the ancient evil is almost all gone, and the powers are mostly used for tournaments to settle issues between nations, families, and individuals.

The city-state of Rhea is currently the largest and most successful city-state in the world. In times gone by, it was one of the first cities to institute the arena method of solving issues, political or otherwise. Over time, an equal emphasis came to be placed by most other nations on this ritualized combat, leading to a new age without large scale wars. Now most arena training begins during high school, to help children master their powers and be prepared to defend themselves, or more important to the state, the state itself.

The city-state of Rhea's main tourist attractions are their tournaments. Every person's power is unique, themed after their divine benefactor's portfolio causing no end of special oddities and wacky abilities. Most major cities in any region of the world will have tournaments but none are as usually as grand as the city-state of Rhea's. Visitors from far and wide come to pit their might against the best the city has to offer.

Schools of Importance

There are four main schools which usually fill out the 'best' category. They are St. Laurel's School of Divine Excellence, Mephisto's School for the Wickedly Inclined, Sir Clausewitz' School for the Militarily Minded, and Lord Kiburi's school for the Truly Exceptional.

St. Laurel's School of Divine Excellence as you might be able to tell from the lofty sounding name is quite a high class school. It has an extremely large campus with top class facilities for just about everything you can think of. There's even an engineering section for those who've been blessed by the God of Smithing and aren't well suited to direct combat, for example. The school has a very good standard of education, so even if one doesn't succeed in the sphere of combat there's always more study options.

Mephisto's School for the Wickedly Inclined always shows up in every tournament but no one is quite sure where they happen to be located. Their physical location changes in the records just about every year. To have your school's location inaccurately listed is supposed to incur a fine, but the principal doesn't seem to have a problem paying it every year. He does also seem to spend a lot of time being suspected of tax fraud, however.

Sir Clausewitz' School for the Militarily Minded is the closest to a military school that exists in Rhea, built and sustained by strict codes of conduct and demands of excellence. Their demands are so high the school holds the highest expulsion rate in Rhea, as well with the highest rate of student injury. Those able to survive the exceptionally harsh conditions, and succeed in getting the grades demanded of them for arena participation have been some of the most dangerous arena fighters in Rhea.

Lord Kiburi's School for the Truly Exceptional is a school maintained by the current grand champion of the Arena, Lord Kiburi. This school reeks of decadence, pride and is truly steeped in unequaled self importance. Partially funded by Rhea itself, partially funded by Lord Kiburi's winnings in the arena, this school is a school with the most bare definitions of it. The stated rules of the school are as such.

One. Don't kill other students.

Two. Don't be a whimp.

Three: Don't skip school unless the reason is cool enough or good enough.

Four: You don't break the rules if you don't get caught.

As one can see, truly Lord Kaburi is one capable of running a high functioning place of learning.....

There's also been new faction that seems to have shown up recently. Tournament teams are usually school based, but there are various free tournaments in which all you have to do is form a team and register in order to fight. One such team has become very large within the two years it has been active, and that is the Vigilantes. They're not actual vigilantes, but amongst their members are various students from St. Laurel's, Mephisto's, Clauswitz's and Lord Kaburi's.

Their membership is now too large to be called just a normal group, and as such they are treated as an small organization of sorts. As long as they can pay the fee for entry, they can register in the larger school tournaments, like any other non-school organization. They do free-lance jobs for the money, stuff like finding stray cats, manual labor, exorcisms, fighting supernatural pests and the like. Besides that though, records of the group's membership and activities are scarce.

Most would dismiss such a group as nothing more than an oddity in the general order of the city, however they attracted much attention on their first entry into an official tournament because of their leader, King. He was strong enough to win every 1v1 battle the group had to fight by himself. Regardless of any complaints about how victory was achieved, they achieved victory and earned their rankings on Rhea's Ranking Board.

The Great Evil, a strange inky substance resembling the star spotted night sky is a thing from a time long passed, which is caustic to the gods themselves. This mysterious power assaulted known existence a long, long time ago and was the catalyst for the gods bestowing great power upon humanity. After the War for the Heavens, the Great Evil has been reduced to a infinitely small fraction of its previous power. Existing now in the greatest depths of caves, ancient dungeons, or the deepest nooks and crannies of the ocean, it is rare for one to encounter this force within their life times. However, there are those who seek out this horror to destroy it, and some other for more nefarious reasons...

Rules!

1. Don't be rude to other players.

2. Metagaming will be fine in some cases, and I'll also be metagaming technically as the GM to bother people sometimes. The line for metagaming for me is when it's not about fun, and more about chasing an advantage you shouldn't have.

3. Being overpowered won't matter so much in most cases, but in the tournaments of course they will. I can make some exceptions for something like a good character weakness, or at the very least you can keep some kryptonite in your back pocket. Just ask if you're not quite sure what to do.

4.Auto-hitting is fine for pretty much anyone I'm controlling, but just to the point of confirming whether or not an attack has hit, and maybe some follow-up attacks. If I want something to live, then I'll find a way. No auto-hits against other players though, as always.

5. Don't god mod. You're all going to get plot armour, and there's no place I'd feasibly want to kill you in unless you act really stupid. I will warn you normally with a "Are you sure you wanna do that?". Ignore that warning at the peril of your character..

Powers!

I won't place too much restriction on the nature of your powers, but as a personal recommendation, I'd say that the simpler your powers are to use, the easier it'll be to play. Each character can start with 1 central power, and up to 3 other abilities. You get more as the RP goes along, but you might not so choose wisely.

Your central power is the one you should base your character's core combat potential, and your three other abilities should help to facilitate your core power in some way. You can choose to do whatever you really want, though.

Anyhow, here's the basic CS skeleton.

Basic CS skeleton:
Name:

Feel free to include any nicknames or titles your character would have.
Age:

If your character is a student, it'll be 18 years at the maximum. You can be a lot younger though, say if you were a child genius or something similar.
Grade:

Only applicable for students, the great schools are highschools, enter the school name followed by 1st year, 2nd year, or 3rd year.

Biography:

Include some form of either personality or background here. It's optional, but there won't be much time to set up characters at the start of this RP, so having something is going to be better than having nothing.

Powers:

Put your powers here. Do remember, 1 core power and up to 3 other abilities. If you'd like a guideline as to how far you should or shouldn't go, I'll have some example sheets later on.
Relationships:

Rivals and nemeses, reputations preceding, perhaps even some special feelings for a special person. This section is optional, but it's nice.

Basic CS skeleton:

Name:
Fran
Slothful Fran
Fran The Slothful
Fran The Careless
Fran The Exhibitionist

Age:
17

Grade:
Lord Kiburi's School for the Truly Exceptional. 2nd year

Biography:
Fran's childhood was rough, to put it lightly. Born in the slums and gutters of Rhea to a prostitute, she had to learn to survive from a young age. Fighting and running — both became second nature to her.

And she hated it.

She just wanted a quiet life with a respectable lifestyle. Not out here with these people who won't just leave her alone.

And so, the moment she obtained her power, she left her home behind. Her mother? A nuisance. She barely gave her anything growing up. She would order her to beg and steal to "help with the household". No way she would be dragged down by her in her new life.

Using her gift, she entered illegal fighting rings, winning enough that she could live a more proper life.

But it wasn't enough. She wanted to be stronger so she could live an even more comfortable life.

And so she entered "Lord" Kiburi's school. No rules to hold her down. Just survival of the fittest. She should grow stronger here, or so she believed.

Let's just hope the other students won't bother her too much.

Powers:
Core Power: Mistress of Shadows
All shadows in the world are her ally. Even you can consider a walking, breathing shadow herself. In her presence, shadows could become as free-flowing as water or as hard as steel. She could even generate Absolute Shadows, shadows that would not fade no matter how bright the light that shone on them. It was as if they were sucking the light completely, preventing it from bouncing back to any eyes that happened to look at them.

Secondary Power: Shadow Tendrils.
Form sharp tendrils from shadows to attack her enemies. Instead of micromanaging their movement, it would be more accurate to say that she gives them orders and they would execute it to the best of their abilities. It would be too much of a bother to do otherwise after all.

Secondary Power: I Too Am A Shadow
Melt herself into a puddle of shadow, allowing herself to sneak around through tight spaces and locked doors without any issue. It's really good at dodging attacks as well as in this form, only non-physical attacks would hurt her.

Secondary Power: The Shadows Live
She could mold her shadows into what she called the Shadowfolk. Sometimes she would create them as beasts to attack her enemies. Other times she would create them as simple entertainment, or a servant to help her with any tasks she needed doing.

Relationships:
Has the reputation for the laziest student in school as she mostly slept through her classes. She was also careless with her skirt, often showing her panties without a care in the world. Her unique upbringing made her quite cavalier in such matters.

Ooooooh... so this is a reboot of this? roleplayerguild.com/topics/170471-roy…

Huh, what do you know, that looked epic.

My priority character idea is toying with The Great Evil's inky black sludge's stuff, maybe someone who had a more normal power then got unknowingly corrupted after an encounter with it. Let's see if that works, but hey, you miss all the shots that you don't take.

AA Yooo, It's everyone's faveoourite Villain/Villainess writer! THIS IS PART TWO YEA'?

Basic CS skeleton:
Name: Candance Vert-Petal

Handsome Bug.
Age: Seventeen, and a half!

Grade: Mephisto's School for the Wickedly Inclined, Third Year, Undergrad.

Biography:

Years ago with dreams of becoming a pilot Candance has set everything out, plans, funds, relationships, almost anything you can think of. They had it all!

Here's what happened next.

You see each connection came from their "auntie" Krauss and together the pair had worked with Sir Clausewitz' School for the Militarily Minded and Candance thought to themself. 'What better path than a fluggin' fighter pilot?' In the beginning things were running smoothly. Until one afternoon during a walk to fetch a midnight snack Candance met a orange-haired Second Year with an equal fiery personality. He introduced himself as ""'Haza Norast", and began to share stories about The Anicent Evil. With an quirked eyebrow Candance informed Haza: "You've got five seconds left, my interest will be gone in five, four..." Haza studied Candace's history-and ceased operations once their "auntie" caught him-so he just kept talking to them.

The two became a pair it wasn't until two years into the relationship of sibling love that Haza let Candance in on his one of two secrets, he was the firstborn of a Halfling to the Anicent Evil!

the rest is history for this transfer student.

Powers:

Quill Pen: Becoming the child of two....Hm, moralist Candance had recieved a fusion of their folks powers. Its core being a summonable red and black quill pen. Which causes his Canary wings to sprout.

Feelin' Live: Candance is able to conjure a quiver, bow, and arrow each of which are all forged by their blood and charged with their emotional energy.

Beast M0de: Channeling his inner animal Candance can increase their dexterity and sex appeal. It's really a hit or miss depending on who their's talking to.

Betwix: They learned this from Haza! They can alter actuality via creative writing! (This is untrue, people have been dooped into believing they both are capable of this)

Yep, it's a group that has members from every school, although those from Clausewitz tends to keep their membership a secret, as membership is grounds for expulsion.

Name: Ken Illustrious Ikari

Age: 16

Grade: St. Laurel’s, 2nd Year.

Biography: Ken’s earliest memories were of flames, blood and hunger, as his family fled with a convoy of refugees towards a flotilla of ships which led them to the city of Rhea, the jewel of the world. There, he remembered kind faces, warm soup, and the faces of his parents, who had fled their plagued homeland of Izumo in order to find refuge in foriegn lands. As his parents worked to feed and educate him, Ken’s gifts, physical, mental, and magical, manifested themselves, opening the gateway to a more privileged life, as it was clear that he was given the favor of a very powerful God or Goddess.

Nevertheless, despite the privileges given to him, Ken remembered what it was like to be weak, to see himself and others suffer, and appreciated the sacrifices his parents made for their family. But at the same time… There was something dubious about the stories they told him about why they left, about the details of the plague in Izumo. For one thing, they refused to discuss why they became refugees, being content to imply that they were mere civilians, even peasants, who fled the plague. But if they were really peasants, why did they look so… aristocratic?

One day, an envoy from Izumo came to their house, addressing his father as ‘Imperial Prince’ within Ken’s earshot, and Ken’s life changed forever. It seemed that the reason for the plague was Ken’s grandfather, the Emperor of Izumo, trying to experiment with a piece of the Ancient Evil in an attempt to win a tournament, and cursing his land for ten years as a result. Now, those ten years had passed and Ken’s Uncle was the new Emperor and was inviting him and his family back to Izumo to take their place as Imperial Nobility.

The following night, both of Ken’s parents, whose real names, he learned, were Shinsei and Maki Ikari (with Maki’s madien name being ‘Illustrious’) receieved a message from a mysterious source saying, ‘Don’t trust the envoy’. Said message came from a member of the newly-formed Vigilantes, but he didn’t know who. And sure enough, when Shinsei followed the mysterious advice and refused to return to Izumo, the Envoy left, but not before making veiled threats, which were followed up by assassins trying to kill the family during another night - The family was able to easily beat this challenge.

After that, Ken, who was already studying at St. Laurel’s, joined the Vigilantes, hoping to find the person who gave them the mysterious message and also to find out how and what they knew. Earning a reputation as a courageous, intelligent, and driven boy, Ken also learned to respect King, the leader of this new faction, as well as his fellow group-members, many of whom he learned to sincerely like. He also discovered he was bisexual and liked both other boys and girls, but he regarded that as unimportant when he still haven’t found the person who gave his family the message which had saved their lives.

He did, however, discover that the assassins targeting his family were sent by his Uncle, who was afraid that Shinsei, Maki, and Ken were able to claim his throne…

Powers:

Core Power: Highest Heaven, Lowest Hell - Ken has the power to strengthen all nearby Magic, whether it be positive magic, negative magic, his own or other people’s. However, he can control what specific spells he strengthens and who he empowers. If need be, he can either empower a group of about six others with his powers as well as himself, thus making him an asset in single or group fights.

First Power: Gimlé, the Glittering Paradise which survives Ragnarök - Not actually a power so much as an enchanted item Ken commissioned from St. Laurel’s Engineering Section and then amplified by his abilities, Gimlé is a ring which when worn by Ken, projects a shield of glittering, golden light which protects against magical and physical attacks, but can be broken by enough force.

Second Power: Ankh of Life - Another enchanted item, the Ankh contains a mild healing spell which Ken can amplify until it can regenerate major wounds and replenish blood, and (at a high cost to magical energy) regenerate limbs.

Third Power: Ame-no-Murakumo - A straight, double-edged sword which is nevertheless unlike ‘western’ blades, the Ame-no-Murakumo is an ancient heirloom of the Izumo Empire which nevertheless ended up in the possession of Ken’s parents as they fled towards Rhea. This sword not only has a fine edge, but can also control the wind; both attributes can be enhanced by Ken’s Core Power.

Nevertheless, Ken holds himself back when using this blade unless facing a serious threat; he does not want to waste its power on trivialities…

Relationships:

- Part of the Vigilantes.
- Loves his parents, Shinsei and Maki.

Name: Michael Angie
AKA Michelangelo

Age: 16

Grade: St. Laurel's School of Divine Excellence, 2nd year

Biography: Michael grew up in a poor family with a single mother, who barely made ends meet to put food on the table. It wasn't much, but it was enough for the two to be happy enough. At least, it was enough, until one day a bully began to make his life miserable. The bully in question had influential parents as well, making it difficult to punish him. As a result, Michael couldn't do much to lessen the abuse he was receiving. He tried asking for help from friends and teachers, but both chose to look the other way. Coincidentally, the bully's father was also Michael's mother's boss, who was also undergoing some troubles of her own at work. Michael was left alone, with nothing but his family and the occasional stray animal for support. He liked animals, even if he couldn't afford to keep a pet.

As time passed and everyone discovered their powers, the bullying only became worse. The bully had obtained a typical steel-skin super strength ability while Michael had ink coming out of his fingers. At first, it was torture. However, Michael was not completely helpless. While all this was happening, Michael did what he could to figure out how his power worked and how best to apply it. He worked and experimented tirelessly, and it eventually paid off. With his newfound knowledge, Michael was able to stand on equal ground against the bully, and even overpower him. The bully's father attempted to get payback, but the company found evidence against the father's various harassment and embezzlement cases, and he was promptly fired. Michael's mother was also promoted to a higher position, and the two were able to live more comfortably. With the bully out of sight and out of mind, things were looking up.

Powers:
CORE: The World is Your Canvas
Michael can generate ink from his own body as will, and manipulate it as he sees fit. The ink travels quickly, allowing him to draw complex pieces that normal artists would take days in a matter of seconds. This allows him to create works of art that projects his will onto the world, limited by his imagination. Should he infuse his creations with power, the energy needed will come from his own body, and will be drained proportionally to the amount of power he wishes to infuse. The more complex and detailed pieces of art will allow him to infuse more energy than those he spends less effort on. However, if he does not have the energy reserves needed, he will drain himself dry and pass out.

SUB 1: Symbolism
By drawing patterns and/or symbols, Michael can apply a series of buffs and/or debuffs, involving things such as increasing physical stats and regeneration, as well as robbing people of their senses or freedom of movement. Inanimate objects are not immune from this effect, either, and can be weakened or strengthened accordingly. Given the right symbols and/or intentions, he can even duplicate certain powers, such as generating explosions or stretching one's body like a rubber band. Many details are needed for these powers to function exactly as Michael wishes them to, such as an AoE healing ability affecting only those he considers allies. His Symbols will last for as long as Michael wants it to (or at least for as long as he's conscious), and can be dispelled by him at any time.

SUB 2: Creation
Michael draws a picture of an object, and is able to construct said object into reality. These constructs will last as long as Michael wants it to (or at least for as long as he's conscious), and can be deconstructed by him at any time. Creations typically need to be drawn to a 1:1 scale to reach a desired size.

SUB 3: Animation
With additional effort, Michael can bring his creations to life, granting them basic sentience and absolute loyalty to him. Inanimate objects will float around, machines will function as Michael realistically imagines them to, and creatures will even be able to speak.

Name: Wolfram Melusina

Age: 16

Grade: Sir Clausewitz' School for the Militarily Minded, 2nd Year

Biography: Wolf is the son of a retired soldier and a demon hunter. With his parents being so serious and at times strict, Wolf was... a little on the meek side. The combined pressure was simply too much. After time away from their professions and years spent as his parents, the two slowly eased up, realizing to some degree how overbearing they'd been, but the damage was done. They were not bad parents, nor abusive, but, well, nearly every parent tends to mess up their child in one way or another. On the bright side, it was hard to find a more responsible, well-mannered child than Wolf.

In his early schooling years, he met two people who would shape the rest of his life, perhaps more than his parents ever could have. Two girls, one name Vera, and the other named Alexandria. Vera was an extremely forward and confident girl, the daughter of well-off merchants. Alex was more like him, though notably more awkward and bit of a... dreamer.

He met Vera first, her family having been aided greatly in the past by Wolf's parents. Alex he met shortly after, realizing how similar their abilities were. They abilities both manifested psychically. When pooled, their powers could create entire illusory worlds for them to play in. They could even manifest these worlds enough for Vera to join them.

Of course, two quiet kids sitting in a corner conjuring imaginary friends tended to draw disparaging stares and negative attention, but Vera, despite having no powers to speak of, would defend them. So ardent was her defense of her friends that even those well practiced, for their age, with abilities would soon learn it wasn't worth the trouble or ear-ache.

For them, it was the perfect set-up. None seemed to enjoy their time more than when they were together. After all, how could one beat a world crafted just for them? But, as time passed, and Wolf's abilities grew, Alex struggled more and more to keep up. It soon became apparent just how much more gifted he was. Not once did he or Vera hold it against the girl, but Alex herself refused to fall behind. She pushed herself to play an equal role, insisting that Wolf help her with ever grander experiments and ideas.

Until one day something strange happened. Their imaginary world felt a little... too real, too far removed from where they'd begun, and too... different from what they'd intended. Before they could figure out what had happened, it all collapsed in spite of their efforts. In the moment, everything seemed fine, though the two were understandably spooked.

The next thing any of them knew, Alex stopped coming to school.

The girl could no longer wake up. Wolf's power's could not penetrate her mind to see what was occurring in her dreams. He could do nothing. In some ways, it felt like she was no longer there at all. In the end, she was taken away to be cared for, in the hopes one day she might wake up again.

Wolf was left behind, his mind filled with the thought that this was all because of him. He'd gone too far, he'd hurt her somehow, and then after all that he'd been too useless to fix it.

-And Time Passes-

No one is quite sure which god granted Wolf his abilities, but a display of them was enough to pique the interest of those running Sir Clausewitz'. His parents were shocked and a little worried when he insisted he apply there, especially considering his mental state in the months leading up to that moment. They told him how needlessly strict and trying the program at that institution was, saying that he was more than capable of enrolling at St. Laurel's, but this only furthered his resolve.

He wanted to put himself through their punishing regimen. Maybe he felt he deserved it, but more so he felt if he'd been better he wouldn't have hurt his friend. He felt he needed to be better so it never happened again. Once the school granted him admission, there was little his parents could do to stop him.

His first year was not pleasant. By comparison to most he performed poorly, but never so poorly that they could find a reason to expel him. He'd always miraculously scrape by. In some ways, this got him more attention than simply being an overachiever, for by the end of the year there was a secret betting pool to see if he'd survive the final tests and trials. True to form, just barely, he did.

With that, and neither cheers nor complaints, he prepared himself for another year.

Powers:
Core: Psychic Warp
He can create psychic "bubbles" brimming with potential energy. He can simply let one collapse catastrophically to attack those nearby it, or he can choose to shape that energy. The bubbles are not terribly mobile, however. He can move them, but it takes time. That said, it is not inherently dangerous if one passes into a bubble, and generally they can just as easily walk back out... unless he decides otherwise. An unwary opponent can find a bubble forming around them very quickly if they don't watch their step. Being in the center of a collapsing psychic bubble is... not pleasant.

Currently he can maintain up to three bubbles at a time.

Ability 1: Formation
There are two ways the energy in the bubbles can be used. One is to turn it into a "room" of sorts, where the world inside is different from that of outside. Those outside the bubble will not be aware of what transpires within it. The other is the reshape the whole bubble into its own, semi-autonomous entity. These entities will follow his orders, but he does not have to directly puppeteer them, rather, their potential is tied to his subconscious. He simply has to give a command and the entity will do its best to carry it out.

Currently, he can control only one autonomous entity.

Ability 2: Intrusion
He can hijack other people's psychic abilities. If they have created an illusory space, he can enter and modify it should he manage to overpower the original user. Can also be “reversed” creating a manifestation of a target's mind for Wolf to explore. Changes made to this manifestation will be reflected in the target's mind. The latter affect will work on anyone, psychic powers or not, so long as they don't have a way to resist. For example, he could make someone feel like they're falling, inducing intense vertigo.

A byproduct of this ability allows him to, instead of competing with others psychic abilities, reinforce them.

Only open if you don't want to be surprised later.

Relationships:
Vera Goh: Childhood friend and current girlfriend. After they lost Alex, the relationship became... rocky.
Alexandria Sova: Childhood friend and source of all his guilt and self-loathing. Also the source of his motivation to improve himself.

Name: Vera Goh

Age: 17

Grade: Lady Deva's Prepatory School, 2nd year.
(A private all girl's school for those, for one reason or another, unwilling, unlikely, or just unable to participate in combat or the arena. She did apply for St. Laurel's, but was rejected due to not fitting into any of their programs despite having good grades.)

Biography:
The daughter of merchants, in many ways she is a typical rich kid. Her value of money is heavily skewed and she spends it as easily as she breathes, and with just as little thought or consideration. She is not terribly friendly to most she meets. She has long since stopped seeking the friendship and acquaintance of others. For anyone who earns her ire, a verbal beat down is just around the corner, and she's indiscriminate with her victims.

There was, however, one debt that her parents could not pay with simple money. Their lives, and business, were saved by a duo of warriors shortly before Vera was born. The two went above and beyond, but in the end didn't seek payment. They had simply been doing their job. Years later, in a chance meeting, Vera's parents once more insisted they pay the two back somehow. Finally, a way to pay their debt was presented.

They wanted their children to meet. At that age, Vera had yet to be spoiled completely rotten and so got along with the boy, Wolfram, well enough. So, to see to it that the debt was well and truly put to rest, instead of putting Vera into the most prodigious, expensive private school they could find, they allowed her to be enrolled at the same school as Wolf.

There the two met a girl, Alexandria, and friendships were well and truly cemented. With no powers of her own manifesting, Vera was fascinated by the psychic abilities of the two; their ability to seemingly craft entire worlds for them to frolic in. These moments were precious to her. There was no such warmth to be found back at home, for her parents were always too busy -- too distracted for her.

Anyone who dared step in the way would be in for a rude awakening. These two were hers, and no one else could touch them. Anyone who sought to tarnish was she had found would be torn apart with words until they were a quivering, sobbing mess on the ground, pondering what cruel fate had led them to being born.

For those too thick skinned for a verbal flaying, well, Vera was not afraid to spend every other afternoon in detention for leaving them black and blue. She learned how to fight beyond simple self-defense just so that her friends wouldn't have to dirty their hands protecting themselves -- so that she could keep up with those more gifted than her. So that her friends need only worry about crafting more of those precious, special moments she craved.

In a way, it was greedy of her, but they never seemed to mind. It wasn't like it was all just for her.

Then, one day, abruptly, it ended. Alex was gone. No one could say why or how, but she simply wouldn't wake up.

Wolf blamed himself, and it was the only answer ever offered, so she blamed him too. Yet, ironically, he was all she had left, so she clung to him tighter than ever. If he left too, she'd be all alone.

If he left... she couldn't punish him.

Powers:
Core: Subject of the Goddess of Love
Every year, dozens of newborns are chosen by the Goddess of Love. Instead of being granted the power to fight, or anything else practical, they are instead puppeted around in the midst of an ever ongoing soap opera for the Goddess's own amusement. Their every action is not spoken for, but when it comes to love and relationships, they will be hit by strong compulsions to guide them on a predetermined path.

That's it.

Relationships:
Wolfram Melusina: Her childhood friend. At first, pushed upon her by her parents, but now the only one she cares for. This sort of twisted co-dependence eventually led them to start dating, though he wasn't her first choice.
Alexandria Sova: Her dearly missed childhood friend. If Vera comes across as bitter, Alex is half the reason why.

Powers:
Shadow Manipulation
She could generate and manipulate shadows, manifesting them into tangible black tendrils or claws as she chose. She could even melt into a puddle of shadow if she chose, though she couldn't stay in that form forever.

Relationships:
Has the reputation for the laziest student in school as she mostly slept through her classes. She was also careless with her skirt, often showing her panties without a care in the world. Her unique upbringing made her quite cavalier in such matters.

Try to put some more depth on the magic description if possible, if need be breaking it up into a core and subsidiary powers.
