The Weeping

Location: Traveling, Riverside, Paragon City
@Silver Carrot@Nallore

As the Weeping stood facing the bridge he turned back having gotten a better idea. Quickly standing at the street corner he hailed a cab and sat down in the backseat. The driver, an older gentleman wearing a green Tammie cap glanced at him with a frown.

“Bit early for Halloween isn't it buddy?”

The Weeping didn't respond verbally merely taking out a wad of cash and setting it down on his knee before pointing across the bridge. He could see the hint of greed in the cap drivers face as the wad was easier more then he made most months. The cab driver just nodded as they went over the bridge. After a few efforts to make conversation with the strange man all turned out as failures the cab driver kept to himself.

As they got close to the city hall, the Weeping could see the backside of the academy a block over. The small amulet in his hand was getting brighter he was sure of it. As they got stopped at a red light the Weeping noticed they were engulfed in the shadow of a building. He grinned exposing his pearly whites and whispered.

“Perfect.”

“Huh?” Came the response of the cab driver as he looked in his rearview mirror to an empty backseat. The spooked man quickly turning in his front seat to confirm it was indeed empty safe for the wad of cash still sitting on the seat. He gulped as he felt a drop of sweat rush down his cheek. It had sounded like there had been multiple people back there when he heard the man speak.

“Maybe...” He paused. “Maybe it's time to retire..” He pulled off to the side of the road to gather his thoughts as he collected the cash.

As the Weeping glided through the shadows he entered into the school unseen and made his way into the bowels of the school. Finding one of its boiler rooms and wedged himself behind the machinery and went into a fetal position to make himself as small as possible his arms wrapping around his legs as he began to release invisible spirits into the school.

Even if there were students here that could catch a glimpse they would seem as though fleeing shadows. It took only ten to fifteen minutes for the Weeping to frown and glance at this stupid amulet. Was this just a wild goose chase? His eyes narrowed when he finally got a bit of useful information. It was that damned woman again. So, she was looking for her to? But why?

Prelude to Conflict

Lucky Noodle, Little Asia
Ken Shimazu, Zhang Taiwu, Madelyne Crane, Kenzo Yamamoto, and Xiao Feng

”Thank you, Hoshi.” Shimazu, after awaiting Xiao Feng to pass the teapot, helped himself to a pour into his cup. He sipped in a steady, calculated draw as he heard out Xiao Feng’s proposal. He neither winced nor broke his demeanor as The Head of the Blue Dragon spoke. When the deal was laid out, Shimazu finished drinking and set his cup down gently upon the table.

”All that you’ve said of current happenings is true.” He had been seeing the pressure mounting from 70th Street over the recent months; he knew full well that Valentina Vega would jump at the chance to cut into Little Asia. Feng’s proposal was of no surprise to him; it was only a matter of time until one gang or the other sought to exercise themselves through him and the Lucky Noodle. ”However, I’m afraid I must decline your offer at this time.” Shimazu’s peripheral vision shifted towards Taiwu in the corner to his right. ”I don’t believe it would be good for the image of myself or this establishment to associate so closely with enterprises such as yours.”

In the corner of his eye he saw a stir.

Taiwu had ceased leaning against the counter. The side eye from Shimazu had caught his surveying gaze of the shop. ‘Enterprises such as yours.’ The words had been cut towards him as much as spoken to his boss. Sensing that the discussions might be ending in pointed fashion, Taiwu made for Xiao Feng’s side with a stride that seemed prepared for conflict.

Xiao Feng looked at Taiwu for a moment and held up his hand motioning for him to stay back for now before turning his attention back to Shimazu. “It’s only a matter of time before Vega sets her eyes on your shop. I am sure you are aware of one of her underlings The Bull I believe she goes by can easily tear up your shop or harm your customers. Some added muscle nearby can certainly help. And like I said you won’t have to pay for this protection and I am sure your clients would prefer the added protection.” Xiao Feng said.

In the corner where she was sitting, Madalyne quietly continued to listen in on the conversation. She didn’t have much contact with either the Blue Dragons or 70th Street either as she continued to eat her noodles.

Kenzo straightened up, still with some chunks of broccoli and chicken on his lips, he could hear their propositions, he knew that given their ways and quite subtle worry for that Vega-girl meant that if the old man kept rejecting them they would have him hanged, in more than one way. He kept hearing, licking his lips from any chunk of meat or vegetable.

“Shoot.”

He gave a side glance to the place of the conversation, turning back after a short amount of time, the old man didn’t seem to have any sort of special skill, how could he ever defend from these sort of people, Kenzo quickly pushed those thoughts away as he needed to maintain a short profile, at least for the time being.

“I’m well aware of 70th Street’s enforcer.” Shimazu spoke sharply. While he maintained his primary focus on Xiao Feng, he kept a sideways glance towards Taiwu, who had stopped mid stride and remained where he had halted as if he might strike if prodded again. “I don’t believe that protecting myself, my business, and my staff from one criminal organization by aligning with another is a sound decision. To do so would be to back down from the principles I strive to embody and teach. Beyond that, I am quite assured that I’ve as much of a support network as I need; the community, and my staff, are vigilant.”

Taiwu broke his stillness and asserted himself at Xiao Feng’s. “You’re making a mistake, old man.” There was a flare in Taiwu’s eyes, and a tremble in his arms as he rolled his sleeves up.

“Perhaps,” Shimazu said, taking another sip from his tea cup. He cut a sharp look at Taiwu, before adding, “It wouldn’t be the worst I’ve made.”

Heat resonated from Taiwu’s forearms. There was a flicker, a spark, and before most in the shop could have caught up with it, his arms from his elbows down were ablaze in a mix of red, orange, white, and blue flames.

Shimazu dropped his cup, cracking it against the table and spilling out its contents. As quickly as Taiwu’s arms had caught, Ken Shimazu had sprung to his feet. His feet spread, and arms came up from his sides; he was poised for a fight. In the same instant, Hoshi, en route back to the kitchens, cut in between them, facing Taiwu.

“Sir! I’ll need to ask you to lea--”

A burning hand swept across Hoshi’s head, Taiwu swatting her out of his way as he returned Shimazu’s favor with a fighting stance of his own.

No sooner had Hoshi fallen to the floor, was Shimazu’s fist striking across the table towards Taiwu’s neck.

Kenzo slammed his fist upon the table, quickly standing up and appearing some feet away from Taiwu, Kenzo might not know what were the capacities of this foe, but that didn’t matter for this, he was doubtful, this was risky, becoming enemies with the blue dragons in his regular persona is just a bad idea.

Yet, Kenzo doesn’t tolerate the idea of someone being hurt. The old man seemed surprisingly fast, he quickly deduced he had a military past, which probably explains a lot from this exchange with the Blue Dragons.

“Hey…”

Kenzo tried to get Taiwu’s attention off Shimazu, he had a rough draft of his strategy; he would attempt to fight defensively, staying purposely sloppy so he wouldn’t suspect anything.

Madalyne quickly got up from where she was sitting seeing Taiwu grabbing the waitress Hoshi with his hand and pushing her to the ground, she got up and promptly helped the girl up to her feet. She moved closer towards the far corner of the shop closer towards the kitchen. “Are you okay?” She asked her as Hoshi nodded slightly, a small burn was on her where Taiwu had touched her. A slight green glow appeared from her hands as she used her magic to heal Hoshi’s burns.

Xiao sat there calmly in his seat as he sipped his tea while looking up between his right hand and Shimazu. Taiwu was always a little hotheaded and started conflicts like this a lot of the time but he quietly observed between the two to see who would end up coming out on top.

Shimazu had half-expected Xiao Feng to cut into the fight. It almost came as a surprise when he felt his fist connect, albeit with the side of Taiwu’s neck rather than the throat. The young man Shimazu had spoken to earlier had risen and pulled Taiwu’s attention. But the pyromancer quickly wheeled back to the Lucky Noodle’s proprietor as the fist struck him.

Shimazu, rebounding out of his punch, stepped out from behind the table.

Taiwu mirrored the movement and the two faced off, both resuming their fighting stance.

“This isn’t your fight,” Shimazu said, calling over Taiwu’s shoulder to the young man. As he spoke, a pair of Blue Dragons near the door stood up and flanked the bold patron.

“Oh… Well, I thought something else would happen.” Kenzo said as he was quickly cornered by multiple Blue Dragon members, with a single drop of sweat falling from his forehead signaling his thoughts about this whole situation. “Crap.” It’s all Kenzo could say if he hadn’t just thought about saying it.

Kenzo clenched his fist and tried to form some way out of this possible fight. He knew there was a thin line between being stupid or brave, also given the fact that he didn’t know how his powers worked properly.

“But I’ll thank you for holding the scrubs, if you can handle them.” he glared at Taiwu “You don’t want this fight, Taiwu, he said calmly.

“Oh but I do,” Taiwu spat. “I want to show you how wrong you were.”

“Then there’s nothing else for it,” An undertone of grief cut through Shimazu’s words. “Hoshi… you and the rest of the staff will escort our patrons outside. There is no need for anyone else to be harmed for the sake of old squabbles.”

“Y-yes, Shimazu-San.” Hoshi got to her feet. “Thank you,” she whispered to Madelyne. “There was something weird about that burn. But you healed it just fine.” She turned and gathered the patrons and the rest of the serving staff, and she and all who would follow her exited the restaurant.

All who remained: Kenzo, flanked by Blue Dragon foot soldiers; Madelyne; Shimazu and Taiwu standing off against each other in building tension; lastly Xiao Feng, observing and waiting…

"I'll use my tech and my brain," came Keyrs' seif-confident response, hand on the handle of the door. "Back shortly, gentlemen." Alright, so that moniker doesn't really apply, she thought to herself as she got out of the car. But whatever. They've neither roughed me up nor killed me yet. That counts for something.

She paused once outside the car, staring straight at the precinct for a minute as she spoke the command to herself --more specifically to her helmet's voice recognition software: "Engage Blueprint Scan."

Julia Kray

Location: Paragon City Academy, Riverside, Paragon City
@Tally Dor@Nallore

Julia got off the bus, paying her fare with the smallest bill she had which was still $10. She told them to keep the change. Here she was, at the academy. She stopped and checked her reflexion in the reflection of a building's window. She made some adjustment to her hair so that she now looked 'casual yet presentable'. Julia had already formulated her plan while on the bus. She was now Bridget, a friend of Julia Crane. A name that was only one consonant sound away from hers felt too close for comfort so she really had to condition her brain and essentially self-hypnotize herself. For the next few minutes, her name was Bridget.

Bridget approached the entrance to the school and buzzed the reception. After getting let in, she approached the school's front desk.

"Excuse me. I need to speak to a student called Madalyne Crane. I'm a friend of her mother's. Could I trouble you to pass on the message that Bridget needs to speak to her?"

"Certainly. Please wait here."

The receptionist left to go to the classrooms. As she waited, Bridget felt that chill again, and her instincts screamed danger. She was familiar with signs by now. So, the Monster was likely somewhere in the school too. Sooner or later, their paths were going to cross. Julia needed to find Madealyne first. The receptionist eventually came back.

"I'm sorry. She appears to be playing truant. Some of her friends saw her catch a bus at the beginning of lunch."

Bridget immediately shifted tacks with this new information. She pinched her nose and sighed as if this was the answer she had been expecting.

"I knew it. Thanks for your help. Need to call Julia now and let her know she's doing it again."

Bridget grumbled as she turned and left the school. Outside, Julia walked to the bus stop on her side of the road, studied the timetable, then crossed the road and looked at that timetable. Between 12 and 12:30 there was a bus that went to Paragon Bay Quay, and a bus that went to Little Asia. The former was quite the distance away and had very few, if any, budget lunch options. It was a more place for sit-down restaurants. At least, that's how it had been fifteen years ago. She couldn't rule it out entirely but it was much more likely that a high schooler playing truant at lunchtime would go to the cheap fast food haven that was Little Asia. And there was another bus in ten minutes. Julia had a little time to kill so she walked to a nearby row of shops and entered what seemed to be a phone shop. She was always going to have to buy a phone. My as well tick it off the list now. Besides, she'd likely need it once she got to Little Asia. The trail would likely run cold there without any kind of search engine or map app. Technology really was an amazing thing.

Z E R O - Z E R O
Z E R O - Z E R O

Location: Financial District, Paragon City
Skills: Pulse Blasters

The vibrant orange glow fired into the hole that Zero-Zero had been flung through. An intense heat shot through the air, aimed directly at the 70th Street thug that simply wouldn't stay down. She was like a fly; one particularly annoying fly that Nancy had to keep swatting at. Even bringing out the big guns, evident by the scorch marks behind the thug, seemed to be in vain.

"I knew I should've recalibrated your sensors." Nancy announced, a hint of annoyance in her tone.

Readying herself to continue their engagement, Nancy found the fight suddenly interrupted by one of the other thugs. They were planning a retreat, having made off with what they could carry. Meanwhile, the sound of police cruisers echoed from outside; the sirens wailing echoing against cold brick and concrete. Now was the time to strike, Nancy figured. If she could catch this one, then it'd be one less thug for Paragon City to deal with. They may have been affiliated with the 70th Street rather than the Delgatos, but bringing them in regardless would do some good for the city and its people.

Of course, the thug Nancy had been sparring with had no intention of being captured. Quick as she had been, the thug picked up a piece of marble and flung it towards Zero-Zero. In response, Nancy fired the pulse blasters at the debris to avoid the incoming object, sending dust into the air as the marble vaporized before Nancy.

"Zero-Zero," Nancy commanded. "Activate scanners."

Following Nancy's command, the exosuit scanned through the dust cloud that had formed in the room. It methodically searched for any sign of movement and life, yet the scanners picked up nothing. The thug had managed to escape, and in turn evade capture.

NO SIGNATURES TO BE REPORTED. The suit replied. SUGGEST A WITHDRAWAL FROM FURTHER ENGAGEMENT.

Nancy sighed. "In time. We have something to do first."

Turning back, Nancy maneuvered the exosuit towards the opening that had been shattered through the floor during the fight with the thug. Large, red claw-like fingers pulled Zero-Zero upwards through the hole, lifting the exosuit to its feet as it stood before the frightened group of hostages that had been left behind by the 70th Street. She knew it was wise to leave before the police entered the building, but Nancy hadn't the heart to leave without checking on the former hostages first.

"Is anyone hurt?" The mechanical voice echoed through the main hall, robotically tilting its head as it analyzed the crowd. Hopefully, there were no injuries to report, but with any criminal activity within Paragon City, that was often wishful thinking.

@Tally Dor @Silver Carrot From inside the boiler room The Weeping would hear the door opening, a small bit of light would shinethrough the hallway's lighting. It was the school's maintenance worker checking something with the boilers, and doing a few checks making sure that they were in working order. The man was balding and a pair of headphones were in his ears completely unaware of The Weeping inside with him. One of the many spirits would come back, with the same information, from one of Madalyne's friends and classmates she was currently at the Lucky Noodle for lunch.

"So where is Madalyne?" One of the girls in the phone store one of the girl's asked. "I think she snuck out but mentioned she was headed for The Lucky Noodle in Little Asia." The other girl said, which Julia would be able to hear from the conversation, it was known for it's dishes and also it was pretty affordable as well to.

@Kuro "Good job at keeping that robot thing in check." Valentina said as she drove the truck as fast as she could with the crew safely in the back of the truck now with their stolen goods. There were three police cars slowly trailing behind them trying to keep up and avoiding the traffic in the streets. However back at the bank two police cars remained on scene as well as an ambulance as the paramedics got out, the hostages turned to look up at Nancy they seemed to be relived to be saved.

"Yeah we are fine now thanks to you." The bank manager said looking at her. The four police officers stepped into the back, they quickly had their weapons drawn at Nancy for a moment before the bank manager stepped in. "They saved us no need for the guns." The manager said as the officers slowly started to lower their guns, and the paramedics quickly went to check on some of the injured that were roughed up by the gang.

@Master EffeX "We'll be nearby if you need anything." The driver said to Tronical as they sat back in the car quietly observing her work in action. Tronical would be able to get a full blueprint of the precinct, as well as a live camera feed of her targets inside one of the interrogation rooms which was on the lower levels of the precinct. The sub level had a few small cells for booking with several prisoners in the large cells waiting for court dates with the city's judges. She would see a few officers through the cameras as well on that floor going on about their duties. She would also get a rear exit that would be able to take her down there as well to from the nearby alleyway.

Diana smiled at KT as she thought for a moment. "I always have to keep moving or it's very boring." Diana said with a slight laugh as she held the door open for KT and allowed her out of her mother's office first before closing the door behind her. She thought for a moment as they got to the elevator and pressed the button for the first floor atrium as she waited a little bit and thought. "I can certainly get you something, what did you think you wanted to do?" Diana asked looking at her closest friend.

Once the elevator got to the executive level and the doors opened Diana got inside, and pressed the ground floor, and it started to go down, the doors were glass windows. Each floor there would be a few people going about their business, from the accountants, and lawyers, on one floor to some of the more sciencey types going from between lab to lab. "Of course you could help me with my night work if you want to do that to which I can pay you to." Diana offered she trusted KT with her little side job as Artemis at night or when work was very slow during the day.

Madalyne Crane

Madalyne looked at Hoshi for a moment and nodded. "Thanks for the warning Hoshi." Madalyne said to Hoshi as she started to usher the restuarant staff and the other guests out of the Lucky Noodle. The room started to become very tense as she looked at Shimazu for a moment before using her magic and a shield quickly formed in front of Taiwu blocking him from attacking Shimazu. She then sent a blast of green energy towards him knocking Taiwu back against a wall. "Leave him alone." Madalyne said giving him a warning.

Xiao Feng looked at the child who went to attack Taiwu and shook his head slightly before standing up grabbing the chair that he was sitting in. "You should have left with the others little one." He said as he threw the chair directly at her, knocking Madalyne back into a wall causing a rather nasty bruise on her as she slowly started to get back up. "Take care of the girl." Xiao Feng ordered Taiwu as his attention turned to Shimazu. "You should have taken me up the offer Shimazu." Xiao Feng warned. The Blue Dragon members turned their attention towards Kenzo. "Hey look at this guy here still here by his lonesome." One of them said as they went to try and attack him but missed.

Keyrs' eyes shifted from the display to the direction of the alleyway exit/entry point. She raised her brows with the advantage that afforded her - assuming that wasn't a fire escape armed with an alarm. Though that could work to her advantage, too.

Bringing her hand up to her visor and making a pinch-and-drag motion, she shifted the live camera feed to a corner of her view. Making the same motion with her other hand on the other side, she likewise minimized the blueprint. Somehow this took her back to her days playing TERMINUS - though she didn't intend to play this mission like a first person shooter. More like that spy game she could never remember the name of, just that it was made by Sky-Phenome Seven.

Flexing her fingers together in a forward stretch like a 'let's do this' prep motion, Keyrs proceeded to walk towards the rear access point like she owned the place.

Just outside the door, she spoke another command to her tech: "Execute Vitals Scan."

A smile crossed her face at the results: one officer who hadn't been as diligent with sleep as with their duties, and another with a bad leg; war injury.

'Thank you for serving the country,' Keyrs thought, before getting down to business - removing her helmet and gloves -stashing the latter in the former- before opening the door -with a little "tsk" at having to grab it with her bare hand--who knows what else has touched it?- and heading in.

Location: Paragon City Police Precinct - Inside

The tired guard was first in her way, so Keyrs stood before them with her best authoritative stance, and stated likewise: "Evidence I'm taking to interrogation." She indicated her removed helmet and gloves. She certainly wasn't dressed like an officer, but detectives had more freedom of dress --she was lacking a badge of course, but for all this officer knew it was clipped to her pants, presently obscured by her "evidence" held at her waist-- this was her ploy. She'd watched enough procedurals to be able to see herself as one. See the thing. Be the thing.

Mind over matter proved true - Keyrs being given the nod to proceed, though she was certain the officer's eyes followed her as she did so; sluggish grey cells working after-the-fact to actually place the face they'd just given the go ahead to.

Striding on, Keyrs slipped her hand into one of her gloves while keeping it in the helmet, holding onto her other glove, so she could quickly get enough of her gear back on if things went sideways. "Leg bothering much today, Robin?" she asked in that 'how are you' way when you're not really looking to hold a conversation, as she power walked by the war vet. Yes, the utterance drew attention to herself, but the familiarity with which she spoke could shift the risk in her favour, leaving the officer to second think with whom exactly they'd just had an exchange while Keyrs continued on her way.

If not, she already had a Plan 2 in mind.

Fire, Frustration, and Fury

Ken Shimazu, Zhang Taiwu

The Lucky Noodle, Little Asia
@Nallore @McNephelim

“Alright then,” Shimazu allowed the last of the patrons to exit the Lucky Noodle. As the door shut, he removed his hoody and t-shirt, leaving only a sleeveless shirt adorning his upper body. He tossed the unneeded clothing onto the countertop by the kitchens. “You’re looking to prove something then,” he said to Taiwu. “I can’t talk you down from that. So let’s get this over with.” He assumed a horse stance against Taiwu’s forward posture.

“I’d love nothing more,” Taiwu responded, a sharpness to his voice. He made the first move, striking forward, his fist igniting as it launched from his side. But the punch, presumably set to crack against Shimazu’s forehead, was met with an impact against an ethereal wall.

“Huh?” Taiwu’s fist, throbbing, rebounded off of the shield. He quickly dialed in on the source of the intercision; the girl with the Dan Dan Noodles ordered for him to stand down… Insolence! He turned with a mind to silence her, but instead did so to throw his arms out and over his chest and brace as she projected a green blast of energy. The blast hit his forearms, but pushed him back and up against the wall.

Recovering from the assault, he nodded to Xiao Feng, whose rebuke had seemed to leave the woman off her guard. Taiwu’s fist ignited. He crossed the room until he was back where he had been standing before. “You’d do well to keep out of affairs you don’t understand!” He launched his fist, releasing a narrow but potent jet of fire…

But his arm was knocked down. The stream, which might have burned the woman, scorched the floor a foot or two in front of her. Taiwu looked to his right, where Shimazu had diverted his strike with a well timed block.

“Your fight is with me, Taiwu!” Shimazu spoke with controlled authority. He had moved with a quickness that belied his age and wear. The sum of his sharp senses and decades of experience had allowed him to anticipate the Pyromancer’s move perfectly.

Taiwu turned towards Shimazu, with his right elbow he brushed the old man off of him. Then, as he pivoted his stance, he crossed his left fist in for a strike to Shimazu’s shoulder. But the old man remained as spry and aware as always, pulling back just enough to be out of range. “Tell your customers to stay out of this then, Old Man.

Shimazu breathed a sigh and nodded. “I appreciate your assistance, Miss Crane,” he said. “But as I told our young friend before,” he indicated to Kenzo, then being assailed by the lesser Dragons. “This battle is my burden; don’t entangle yourself in my failings.” He focused back on Taiwu. “Now… where were we?”

"At this part…” Taiwu wasted no more time. His punch was aimed, once more, at Shimazu’s head.

Once more, Shimazu was prepared. His hands had risen to meet Taiwu’s strike with a butterfly block; the punch intended for his head missed high on the force of his block. With his hands already positioned, he grabbed Taiwu’s wrist with his left, and pulled the hand down and to the side, opening his opponent to a strike of his own. His own fist coursed toward Taiwu’s chest.

Quick on his feet as his right hand was pulled down, Taiwu moved his left hand in, catching Shimazu’s fist before it could connect with his chest. “You haven’t lost a step, Old Man,” he snarled. He pushed Shimazu’s fist away. Heat built up in the palm of his hand and down the arm Ken had grappled.

After a second of an intense burning sensation, Shimazu released Taiwu’s arm. Now with two hands and leverage to exercise he pulled his fist out of the coil that was the young warrior’s hand and threw another block, intercepting Taiwu’s now freed arm before it could connect a chop to his neck. With such emphasis on the hands, the “Old Man” took the liberty of driving a hard knee into the young dragon’s groin.

Taiwu recoiled, leaning forward as though to hold himself together without making the scene too humiliating for him.

“And you’ve not changed either,” he said, shaking his head. “I had hoped better for you, Taiwu.” Shimazu stepped forward, offering the younger warrior his hand.

Taiwu let out a groan that turned into a roar. His eyes flared in anger. He pushed Shimazu’s outreached hand away and pulled himself back upright. The flames upon his arms reignited with greater intensity. With a motion akin to a dragon slashing with its clawed hands, he issued sparks into Shimazu’s face.

The sparks of fire struck Shimazu’s eyes, besetting upon him an agonizing burning. His eyes sealed themselves shut for protection. Though he couldn’t see it, the sense of another superheated fist barreling toward his head was all he could feel as he reeled back. With little more than a few millimeters separating Taiwu’s fist from his face, Shimazu ducked, and knelt himself on the floor. His knee touched the floor and his head bowed beneath Taiwu’s fist. But before he could commence a sweep with his leg, a sensation passed over the top of his head… a sensation that wasn’t the ripple of heat emanating from Taiwu’s arms. Something that felt to him like a gentle wind grazing the top of his head flitted through the space between his highest hair and Taiwu’s strike. The sound of something hard and heavy hitting flesh filled his ears, as did a pained noise from Taiwu…

S A R A H M A R I E K I N G

The Lucky Noodle, Little Asia

In the basement, still diligently going through her Kata, Sarah might have been unbothered by the commotion unfolding above her. The clamoring of the kitchen staff was almost business as usual; the talk of “Blue Dragons” fell to whispers before it reached the bottom of the steps. But as she rounded to the conclusion of her last set of forms, something set in on her. A weighty feeling pressed atop her shoulders as she helped herself to a bottle of water from her Sensei’s personal fridge.

And then, the silence, rather than the noise, alerted her to the point that something was going down in the restaurant. The usual clamore and bustling of the kitchens overhead had subsided into an unsettling stillness.

Adrenaline kicked into effect. She raced toward the steps, bounding upward, skipping one here and two there until she practically jumped out into the backroom. In a miraculous feat of dexterity she wove and cut her way through the kitchen without disturbing anything of note. She emerged into the riotous scene in the dining room. Nearest the entrance, Blue Dragon thugs were occupied by a newcomer to the shop; Madelyne Crane seemed to have gotten involved, a visible bruise where she had been struck. To Sarah’s concern, however, was Ken Shimazu, pitched in a one-on-one, but dropping to his knee as an igneous limb punched through the air just over his head.

Sarah hurried herself to the center aisle of the dining room, chambering her hands as she oriented herself toward the burning man. In the instance before her next move, the man’s attention found its way to her. She locked eyes with him. The weight on her shoulders pressed against the front of her chest; there was something about the man… something that held a malice towards Shimazu, and perhaps even her, in particular. And while she couldn’t have explained it, she reciprocated that feeling of malice; her attack would be decidedly swift.

Her muscles tensed; she felt the prickles and cracks flow out from her core and down her arms into her hands. She stepped forward into her stance, just as Ken had taught her. Both of her hands, clenched into tight punches, punched forth. A jet of nearly invisible energy shot across the gap between her and the man standing over her Sensei. Her Chi struck true, knocking into the man’s stomach when he was at the most prone extent of his missed punch. The man let out a loud “arrgh!” as he was knocked back, barely righting himself in tim to drop to his knees. Sarah stepped forward bringing herself to her Sensei’s side.

“So… we fighting? Bet… What’s up Mads?”
“Took you long enough.” Shimazu laughed.
“Had to finish my Kata before I came up.” Sarah returned, shrugging.
“So you are listening; good to know.”

Taiwu came up to one knee, holding onto his stomach as though he might vomit. He looked upon the sneering girl in front of him with contempt burning in his gaze. “And tell me,” he began to pull himself back up. Still massaging his stomach, he put on a more confident face to the newcomer. “What hole did you crawl out of to cross the Blue Dragons?”

Sarah’s eyes rolled. “Worry more about which hole you’re gonna be talking out of when you leave.”

Taiwu laughed; he had collected himself more properly. He looked over Sarah, sizing her up, and then cut a sharp glare at Madelyne before turning the same look onto the girl at Shimazu’s side. “So… a witch, and some Mapleview trash? I guess the Old Man has lost a step.”

“Shut up.” Sarah snapped. Her Chi pulsed through body; her muscles contracted.

Shimazu’s eyes came fully open. He rose to his feet and stood by his student. “Loosen up a bit, you’re way too tense,” he whispered, side-eying Sarah. He resumed a fighting stance, this time one intent on pressuring the offensive against Taiwu. “You and your boss should leave, Taiwu. Before this gets out of hand.”

“I wonder,” Taiwu ignored Shimazu’s demand. “Can your Mapleview punk back up her bravado?”

“You heard my Sensei,” Sarah shot back. “Get out. You and your boys.”

“No. No. I don’t think I will. Let’s see what the Old Man has taught you.” Taiwu had paced closer to Shimazu and Sarah, and glared at the latter of the pair. Without telegraphing it, he punched forward, looking to test Sarah.

Not as fluid as her Sensei, but with a burst of greater quickness and power Sarah knocked away the assault with a well placed block, emphasizing the movement with another, albeit less impactful, projection of energy that pressed back against Taiwu.

Shimazu nodded, giving Sarah the faintest smile. Better precision.

The Blue Dragon hitman retreated two steps. He couldn’t see it, but he could feel Shimazu’s kid pressing out some form of power. “Boss,” Taiwu said, looking over at Xiao Feng. “You might want to check this one; hardknock attitude needs to be knocked down a peg.”

Theresa “Toro” Torres

Financial District

Theresa didn't turn back to see if the marble slab had hit its mark. The last of what she could muster into a sprint would be expended with a last-second mush to put herself on the step of the truck's passenger door. She wrapped her left hand around the grab bar just as the vehicle pulled backwards, rocking as it drove over the debris from its entrance; she held on despite the adversity. Once the truck was rolling smoothly on the street, she pulled the door open, pulled herself into the seat, and closed the cab.

“Don’t mention it.” Theresa checked the mirror on her side of the cab, making sure the robot wasn’t following them. “Thanks for being quick in there. That thing was packing some Veridian-grade weapons. We might need some extra firepower before we try something like this again.” She checked the mirror again, watching the police cruisers getting caught in the city traffic behind them.

“Hey, Val… once we get this load secured at the safehouse… I gotta cut loose for a few. I’ve got some unfinished business to deal with.” She didn’t say what outright, but a pair of tightened fists would tell Valentina all she needed to know.

“Let’s focus on the day job before talking about night work.” KT raised a brow at her friend. She hadn’t necessarily pinned Diana as the sort for a side hustle; at least not as someone that would need to work extra to make ends meet. “I was reading about a newer project here; something about the NeuroNet Project… research into ways to allow the human brain to interface directly with the Internet, as well as other electronic systems. Call me crazy, because I’m probably just asking to be a guinea pig, but I think I can help with that.”

She took a long, concentrated look at her friend, mulling over her next words before deciding not to hide anymore. If you can hear me, consider this my application. She transmitted the thought clearly on her end, hoping that

Horace J. Wolfe

Veridian Technology Atrium

Horace arrived in the Atrium ahead of Diana; getting there had been otherwise uneventful beyond a few cordial greetings from scientists and executives, and fortunately no one was trying to hold him up over any security updates for now. Once in the Atrium, he made his way to the elevators, deciding it best to meet with Diana as soon as she arrived. As he waited, both his work and personal phones chimed with notifications, one shortly after the other. He checked his work phone first, a message from one of his staff reading:

Sent this without comment by personal phone too, just in case. Looks like one of our designs.

Horace opened the message, seeing both images and video footage of a robot fighting off a group of bank robbers. At first, he thought it might be some new movie being shot, and that someone had leaked Veridian information for use in CGI or costuming, but closer examination showed that the video was from a livestream, and the bank itself and the damage being done to it were both real and within Paragon City.

Get a team together to investigate; work with our robotics labs to confirm design origin. Contact the Paragon City Police Department. If someone has gone rogue with Veridian Tech they need to be brought in. I still have my meeting with Diana Smith. I’ll rendezvous with you when I’m done.

As the elevator would arrive, Horace would have his phone pocketed and his expression neutral; he wouldn’t have Diana worrying about the rogue tech; not until they had finished the Canis-V trial.

The Weeping

Location: Traveling, The Lucky Noodle, Paragon City
@Nallore

As the Weeping continued sitting in his fetal position, digesting the information the spirit presented him. He did not physically move as the janitor came in. He trusted in his hiding spot as he recalled a sign for the lucky noodle. Some place to get grub. He frowned as the fingers clutching the amulet tightened on it threatening to crush it at the annoyance of this wild goose chase. He sighed causing the man to jump as he glanced towards the giant broiler that the Weeping was hiding behind. Was that a hiss of steam?

As the man made his way around the giant machine he would find nothing. The man was confused but he moved on from the broiler and began doing what he originally came in here to do. Meanwhile the Weeping had left the room after convincing his many spirits that wasting time on this human would give their quarry a chance to leave the Lucky Noodle. A bit of time had passed but the Weeping found himself out the Lucky Noodle after getting lost a time or two.

Entering into the building through the shadows he found himself looking downward at quite the scene before him. Several people were fighting. He ignored them as his orange eyes scanned each face, till his eyes finally fell upon the source of his frustration. The brown-haired young girl.

"GRAB HER!! SEIZE HER!!! DON'T LET THE SCAMP FLEE!!! TAKE HER!!!"

He could hear the various voices screaming in his head as he was slowly using the shadows to get a much better angle on Madalyne. He was now behind her, but she was just out of reach. But if he could just reach her, he'd be able to flee with her as she'd be disoriented from entering the shadow world that the Weeping called home.

He watched the fight scene unfold with interest as he had not seen many other metahumans since his awakening and if any of them got in his way it would be helpful the more he knew of them and the less they knew of him.

The Lucky Noodle, Little Asia

As one became two, and two became four, Kenzo was forced to fight in the noodle store, "Well... I think it's time for a little heart-to-heart." Kenzo thought out loud while the blue dragon, he quickly jumped over a table to evade the blow and kicked one of the Blue Dragons in the face. Following this kick, he gave another kick to the other gang member next to him. Then, he decided to jump onto the floor and continue the fight there. All his possible plans melded into some abomination of a plan, which he followed despite the lack of logic.

A kick, then a jab, then an uppercut, then another kick, and so forth in a weird combo, this slowly caught him, as he was struck in the back by some Blue Dragons. Angered by this, Kenzo decided to get serious and activate his powers. He stepped close enough to hug him, then he got him in a wristlock. Kenzo's power allowed him to grow in power while in combat, a sort of accelerated development

"Aghh!!" Kenzo kicked him towards the counter. After this, enemy by enemy, Kenzo seemed to grow stronger and quicker; his battle spirit also seemed to burn more intensely than previously seen. He saw that there were still some Blue Dragons daring to fight with him. "Huh... Still wanting to take this regular ol' civilian right?" He gave a come here gesture before getting into an offensive position.

As Kenzo kept beating up the Blue Dragons, he gave glances at the fight between Shimazu and Taiwu. He seemed surprised by the old man but even more by the sudden appearance of his disciple. "Maybe I should ask them for some combat training; those energy blows could come in handy." Kenzo thought as he punched one gang member and sent him flying with a kick.

Once Kenzo thought he had defeated all his enemies, he turned to see what was about to occur between Xiao Feng, Taiwu, Shimazu's Girl, and the Old Man Shimazu. But thought about something while seeing Shimazu and the girl alone against this threat. He sneered.

"Hey, Old Man..." Kenzo approached Shimazu, and he lowered his shades a bit, letting his eyes be seen, and with his free hand, he pointed at the Blue Dragons with his thumb. "I know this is a bit of a weird question and that we barely met, but... can we jump them?"

Julia Kray

Location: The Lucky Noodle, Little Asia, Paragon City
@Tally Dor@Nallore@McNephelim@IAmTheIsland

Getting a phone and sim had been easy. There had been enough time on the bus to figure out the basics and install a map app. Julia was glad that technology today was so intuitive. It helped that she was very intelligent and tech literate for her time. She used the remaining journey time to get a good look at Little Asia's current state. Businesses had changed names. Some had closed down. What used to be a cafe is now an apartment. What used to be a laundromat is now a cafe. She'd unfortunately have to search each one of these shops one by one.

Or so she thought.

The moment she got off the bus, the hairs on the back of her arms stood up. She could sense the conflict before she could even hear it. She began to first walk quickly, before breaking into a run. She followed her instincts and they led her straight to the Lucky Noodle. There was a fight going on.The Blue Dragons were involved. What was this? A protection racket gone wrong? Or something else?

Julia was never an official member of the Blue Dragons. She did business with them once or twice but at that point in her career every major criminal worth a damn knew the Rat lived up to her name. She had no affiliation. No loyalty. One day she will sell you information. The next day she will sell you out. Too useful to ever make a permanent enemy out of but nobody's friend.

She stepped through the doorway, folded her ams, and looked inside. There was a woman standing beside an older man who looked strangely familiar. She couldn't quite remember where she had seen him before, so she put a pin in that thought. The woman was young but still looked just a little too old to be a student. That left the one in the corner, with a visible bruise and a chair at her feet. And she could feel that unnatural chill again, coming from that direction. No doubt aboutit. That was her. Julia clicked her tongue. Children did not belong in the same world as this carnage. Julia was testament to that. Kids hanging around criminals either creates more criminals or creates dead kids. She was only standing to the side and she'd already gotten hurt. Not to mention that monster was looking for her with clearly less than savory designs in mind.

"You must be Madalyne Crane," Julia began talking as she ignored everything else around her and began approaching Madalyne. "This doesn't seem to be a good atmosphere for a conversation, but I've been looking for you."

Nancy felt some relief as the bank manager confirmed they were safe. She needed confirmation; having felt the need to check on the civilians. The rough state of some, however, churned her stomach. Overwhelmed by frustration, Nancy felt her hands clench into fists as the feed broadcasted from Zero-Zero into the exosuit's cockpit. They shook with anger, not at them, but herself. The 70ths were small-fry in the criminal underworld, yet people still got hurt. If only she had beaten that powered thug. If only she had been quicker. Maybe then she would've kept them safe from harm.

She opened her mouth to respond, yet the sudden swing of the bank doors drew her attention. Nancy turned to face the front entrance, and locked onto a number of police officers entering with their guns drawn on Zero-Zero. Alerts began to buzz within the cockpit as the exosuit began to register them as threats, and Nancy took a cautious, wary stance. She had no intention of fighting the police, but Nancy also didn't want to be shot at even if Zero-Zero's armor plating could withstand small-caliber rounds without much difficulty.

Thankfully, the bank manager soon cut the tension, stepping in on Nancy's behalf. The police soon lowered their guns, and moved to contain the criminal scene instead while paramedics checked on the injured.

"Thank you." Nancy replied to the bank manager. She still felt angry at herself, but Nancy refused to express it through Zero-Zero. "I believe they can handle the rest."

Moving the exosuit towards the doors, Nancy left the scene behind. She swung Zero-Zero back towards the rooftops, knowing the lunch rush was bound to come anytime soon. And while lunch sounded good, Nancy needed to get back to her hideout. There was still the mess in Nighthaven she had to investigate tonight, and on top of everything, she needed to assess Zero-Zero for battle damage. With luck, it would prove an easy fix and wouldn't take long to do.

@Kuro "Be safe out there." The bank manager would say to Nancy as she managed to get out of the building itself and back onto the rooftops themselves again. Her hideout wasn't to far away now, and near her hideout were several little shops and food trucks along the block as well to Nancy would be able to get to her hideout without any further issues really. Nancy could also scout out the area around Nighthaven where the meeting was supposed to take place as well to if she choose to see who she might be dealing with in the area later that night to.

@Master EffeX "Robin?" The officer asked sounding very confused as he turned to look at Tronical as she walked past her and would quickly grab her by the arm. "Who are you, you should not even be back here?" The officer sounding more than a little bit confused, Tronical was able to get the locks of two of the cells open. And the gang members that were booked earlier a mix of Blue Dragons as well as a number of 70th street gang members started to get out. "Shit." The officer said as he quickly let go and reached for his radio and started to call in for some backup trying to get more officers to help which would give Tronical easier access to the two Delgatos that were nabbed last night and taken down by Artemis. When she got to the interrogation room she would find the two of them handcuffed to the table, one of them turned to look at her. "Who the hell are you?" He asked.

Diana looked at KT for a moment when she mentioned about being a guinea pig for one of their projects, she wasn't really familiar with all of the other projects going on in the company. Then she felt KT enter her mind which felt a little bit weird as she met her gaze again, wondering when that happened.

"How long have you been able to do that?" Diana asked her, as they got to the bottom floor. "We'll have to get some paperwork together and whatnot, but I can approve your application once your done with it personally." Diana said giving her a smile, as the elevator door opened she looked at Wolfe. "Ready to head out now." Diana said as she started to make her way towards the car that was parked in the front of the building itself, getting into the backseat itself.

Madalyne Crane

Location: Little Asia, The Lucky Noodle, Paragon City

Madalyne was about to brace herself getting burned by Taiwu, only to be saved by Shimazu as she looked at him. "Well can't standby the sidelines and let your place get attacked by them." Madalyne said as she stared at the Blue Dragon and their leader by the looks of it, and then the other guy who quickly managed to take down the other Blue Dragon grunts without to much of an issue. Madalyne was about to attack the two of them again when Sarah jumped into the fray and hitting Taiwu. "Good to see you to Sarah." Madalyne said giving her a friendly smile.

Xiao Feng looked at them and the group that was there, things quickly had gone south thanks to Taiwu as he got into a fighting stance he turned to glare at Kenzo for taking out his men and he would aim for a kick only for him to miss Kenzo by a few inches. But on the round kick he managed to kick Kenzo in the stomach making him stumble back slightly. Then yet a new face showed up, he turned to look at the woman entering the building addressing the young girl who had attacked them. "Who the hell are you?" Madalyne asked looking over at Julia who addressed her by name as she moved away from the woman and closer towards the Shimazu and Sarah unaware that The Weeping was close by.

Xiao Feng recognized The Rat pretty easily and used their services a few times before, but he didn't address her as he turned to Taiwu, they were outnumbered and he was smart to know when to end a scrap and when to start one as he looked to Taiwu and whispered to him. "We are very outnumbered unless you want to see yourself beaten by them I suggest we leave. We know their names and their faces we can give them all a visit later." Xiao Feng told Taiwu.

It’s Not Over?

The Lucky Noodle, Little Asia
Ken Shimazu, Sarah Marie King, Zhang Taiwu

Interacting with Madelyne Crane, Kenzo Yamamoto, Julia Kray, and The Weeping.

Despite his best efforts, Shimazu could see the situation drawing closer to a spiral beyond his or anyone else’s control. Taiwu wasn’t one to back down once he had been risen; Maddie’s instinct to stand up and fight the aggressors moved her to fight another person’s battles; the new kid seemed to have something to prove; there was little to be said to call either of them down.

Sarah, an echo of Taiwu, wouldn’t turn away from a challenge. Ken stood by, feeling the tension in the room grow tighter as his young apprentice stared down his former student, her eyes never wavering away from Taiwu, even as distractions continued to pile onto the pyre. He hadn’t spoken of his and Taiwu’s history, least of all to Sarah, but he could sense that her instincts were as sharp as his senses; she stared the pyromancer down with an intensity that seemed to even make him take pause. Shimazu knew both on sight and from experience that mixing the pair would ignite a fire that he’d never be able to extinguish. He lowered his hands, hoping that could at least begin to deescalate things. He opened his mouth to intervene, but the new kid spoke up first.

Taiwu, breaking away from his resumed staredown of Sarah, turned a one-eighty and looked at Kenzo in with a sour expression. “Word of advice, Kid,” he said condescendingly. “Jumping someone tends to work best when you don’t announce that you’re doing it.” He readied his stance to take the fight to Kenzo. As he did, the door to the shop flew open.

Rushing in came a woman, kind of scrawny, with shoulder length blonde hair. As the woman entered and rushed to Madelyne, Shimazu was at first annoyed; clearly someone hadn’t gotten the word that the shop was closed for the time being. Then followed his thought that he should have had Hoshi and the others stay at the door to keep people out. Third along his run of thoughts was the feeling that he had seen the woman somewhere before, sometime in his “old” life; he would cross that bridge later if he came to it. As it was, he couldn’t hold onto his own annoyance for long, however, as the woman’s arrival seemed to be the force that eased the mounting confrontations, as even Taiwu and Xiao Feng had their attention drawn towards that corner of the room.

Feng would be the one to call an end to fighting, calling off Taiwu with a degree of scolding in his tone.

The pyromancer lowered his own hands, acknowledging his boss’s order. He gave the scene a good look, and recognized that he wouldn’t be settling any scores; not when no one in the room could stay out of other peoples’ business. He took in and released a deep breath, a small bit of smoke issuing out as he exhaled. The heat that pulsed from his arms cooled, and he rolled down his shirt sleeves, returning to his more formal look. He turned to Shimazu, his gaze still hot as fire. “This isn’t over, Old Man,” he growled. He cocked his head towards Sarah, who still had her eyes sharply focused on him. “That goes for your Mapleview Mutt.” He wheeled towards Kenzo, “And you, and the witch over there, if you keep sticking your noses in business that doesn’t concern you.”

“Oi! you heard your boss. Cut the Italian exit and fuck off!” Sarah had spoken forcefully. A subtle wave of Chi emanated from her, pressing uncomfortably against the Blue Dragon enforcer. Taiwu merely looked over his shoulder, giving Sarah a cold look before he brushed past Kenzo, and exited the shop.

The Blue Dragon disciples that weren’t too badly bruised from Kenzo’s spree struggled themselves upright, shook off their pain as best they could, and followed Taiwu.

Shimazu would pay them no further attention as they departed, save for a an exchange of looks with Xiao Feng, whom he knew he had displeased, if not dishonored with his refusal to accept protection. But he wouldn’t allow the fallout of that to weigh on him just yet; as far as he was concerned, he had demonstrated that he was far from needing much in the way of protection. All of those that had remained in the restaurant had proven that the community was on his side, should things get hard. He turned towards Maddie, and the woman who had come in so desperate to see her; she [Maddie] was confused by the woman’s presence and tone of familiarity, and backed away.

“There would seem to be some confusion,” he said, speaking to the woman, but also looking to Miss Crane to confirm his take. But as he did so, something registered with his higher senses. A strange, belligerent energy coming from the side of the room where Maddie had been during the fighting. The aura was faint, yet visible; the entity blurred in form and nature, but noticeably aggressive. It was something the likes of which he never experienced. Trying to be coy, he kept himself invested in Maddie and the familiar stranger“Perhaps you should have a word with each other.” He pointed to one of the tables left standing closer to the exit. “I need to fetch a broom to start cleaning up this mess,” he added, making his way towards the kitchen. As he did, he locked gazes with Sarah, and shifted his eyes towards where he had sensed the presence.

Sarah, taking her Sensei’s hint, inconspicuously eyed the spot where Maddie had been standing, and after meeting Shimazu’s eyes again, nodded. When Shimazu left the room, Sarah held back against the counter. “Don’t mind me, she spoke, directing it mostly toward the woman. “Maddie is a good friend; wouldn’t want anyone pulling any moves on her while she’s alone.” She relaxed just a little as her back propped against the counter. But she still seemed to radiate an almost imperceptible pulse of energy that flowed ambiently out from herself, as she took quick, nonchalant side-eyed checks of the space Shimazu had indicated.

Ready to Roll

Katherine Tran & Horace Wolfe, Veridian Tech Atrium
Interacting with Diana Smith

“The power just kinda started one day back in high school. During an exam. It actually started with me being able to hear everyone else’s thoughts; I think you were there? I excused myself, said I had a migraine.” She gave a weak smile. “I had to do a lot of training to keep myself from hearing things I didn’t want to… and to keep from sharing my thoughts when I didn’t want to. Needless to say it made dating a bit difficult for a while.” She laughed lightly and turned to face the elevator door as they reached the atrium level. “I’ll put in a formal application, of course. I don’t want you to look like you’re playing any favorites, even if you are just a little bit.”

The elevator bell tolled, and the doors opened. KT and Diana were immediately met by Horace Wolfe as they exited. “Miss Smith,” Wolfe greeted. He shifted his head towards KT, raising an eyebrow. “You’re a new face,” he said, scanning the young woman. “You are?”

“Katherine Tran,” KT extended her hand to shake the man’s. “But most people call me KT. I’m Diana’s friend.”

Horace returned KT’s gesture. “Horace Wolfe, head of security. I have some important business to tend to with Miss Smith.” He looked to Diana, whose expression read that she knew what he would say next, and that she'd prefer that he not. “And I’ll be so bold as to presume you have her blessing to join us. Unorthodox as it may be, I won’t argue. Our car is waiting for us down in the executive garage, whenever you’re both ready.”

The Weeping

Location: The Lucky Noodle, Paragon City
@Nallore @Silver Carrot @Iamtheisland

The Weeping gave an angry hiss as his clothing slowly fell from his body like it wasn't even there. There was no need for any of it to get ruined in the coming fight. He felt like a puppet being pulled about by its strings. Go here! Go there! This way now! Over yonder next! He was sick of it, and this was the time to finish his mission. He was no one's lapdog. Nigel could himself losing control despite trying to hold on, it was that all too familiar sense of fading as he was removed from the driver's seat becoming an unwilling passenger in his own body. The rage of the spirits was all encompassing.

This brown-haired girl who had placed herself directly in his path.

Sarah.

Yes, that was what Madalyne had called her. Strike her? The Weeping reared back momentarily before it seemed to freeze as if unsure of itself, before shifting its gaze to the other two women. It's source of hatred. The shadow that stalked the shadow. His teeth slowly bared themselves to their fullish extent, a vicious grin capable of rending meat from the bone. Or maybe it was better to just grab this young girl and flee? He was after all wasting time on this errand, he truly did not even wish to do. The creature weighed its options as it quickly took stock of all the shadows in the room. A surprise strike that would slice the Rat from head to toe, then mayhaps it could grab the young girl?

Take her back to that woman. Be done with this whole song and dance and finally get down to what he truly desired. The complete and utter destruction of the Delgato family. Sinking deeper into the shadow and swimming through the blackness the Weeping leaped outward from Madalyne's shadow as she had been closest to Julia.

The creature screamed an unearthly cacophony as the razor-sharp claws of its arm hand descended down in a mad slash intending to split the rat into pieces.

"YOU HAVE DARKENED MY SHADOW FOR FAR TOO LONG! DIE LITTLE MOUSE!"

The Weeping's brow furrowed as it drew blood, but its internal rage bubbled over. Nigel had raged against his cage, causing the Weeping's strike to be hindered, what should have killed Julia fell short. Far too short to be fatal. But it would leave a nasty gash on her head. He flicked his claw allowing the blood to splatter as he readied a battle stance. The element of surprise was gone maybe it was best to just grab Madalyne and run?

At the question of the name "Robin", Keyrs started questioning herself. She thought she had seen that name on the data detailing this officer to be a war vet. Clearly she'd misunderstood an aspect of her scan results. She would have to analyze this later -building up quite a to-do list this afternoon- but for now, it was fast-action time.

Slipping her one glove on as soon as the officer had her grabbed by the arm, Keyrs fired a series of wrist discs at the locks of the cells. Success x2 was more than enough to create the distraction she needed. Taking her other glove out of her helmet, she slipped both back on in turn and swiftly shifted her attention to the map detailing precisely where she needed to go.

"I'm your ticket out of here." She aimed her wrist discs at their handcuffs.

*Srew-- Srew--* *Klinkewsh* *Squelch*

Evidently she was a ticket for one..as Keyrs watched in horror as her second disc instead sliced into the second Delgato's wrist, managing to cut both the radial and ulnar arteries; there was no coming back from this.

Was that an error of hers? Or had he made a fatal flinch in those fractional seconds between aim, release, and hit? She may never know. She may never want to know..She had to move on. There was another life stake; her own.

Dead serious, Keyrs locked eyes with her remaining rescuee: "I just saved you and tech like this could be yours if I can land the deal I'm trying to with your boss. What do you say to spinning this as interrogation tactics gone wrong?"

To say this as a threat seemed like a double-whammy of wrong, so she was careful not to have her glove trained on him, but nor did she have her arm lowered into a proper "standing-down" position. The Delgato could judge his options accordingly.

The trip back to her hideout hadn't taken Nancy long. Swinging from rooftop to rooftop, it had been a breeze, and Nancy soon slinked back into the shadows of Paragon City.

Her hideout hadn't been much to look at, nor had it been a pretty sight. The unfinished complex, an expensive planned expansion in the Financial District, had been since long abandoned and left to rot over the years. Red tape and building codes had forced the builder to back out, citing "creative differences" between them and officials.

In doing so, they left behind a half-finished lot, wherein forgotten building material was left behind to gather dust and cobwebs. Nary a local bothered to tread the site, preferring to avoid the potential dangers that might've lurked within. But not Nancy. The emptiness and quiet made for a perfect hideout. There, she could plan her assault on the Delgatos, far away from any prying eyes.

There had been some days where she missed having an actual home, however. But the life of the alleged dead was not meant to be one of comfort—Nancy couldn't possibly return home, not in this state. She felt her mother had been better off believing that she had died that night, rather than see the monster that she had become. And that wasn't counting the fact that she was running around Paragon City with Veridian tech. There was no way that someone hadn't been looking for Zero-Zero, Nancy figured.

"Zero-Zero," Nancy spoke. A sharp hiss was followed by the back of the cockpit opening. "Run a diagnostic scan."

PROCESSING. The exosuit replied as Nancy climbed out. MINOR DAMAGE REPORTED TO RIGHT ARM SERVO.

Nancy sighed as she grabbed a remote to turn on a nearby television to the news channel. The impact she took into the wall must've battered the suit's internals. Of course, the exosuit had armor to prevent such a thing happening. But against someone strong enough to toss a mechanical giant like Zero-Zero? Damage was bound to happen, were Nancy not careful.

"Next time, I'll make her pay for the replacement with the money she stole."

Reaching for her tools, Nancy wrapped the tool belt around her waist and climbed up a ladder, ready to tinker away at Zero-Zero. It wasn't a difficult fix, but it would take some time.

Julia Kray

Location: The Lucky Noodle, Little Asia, Paragon City
@Tally Dor@Nallore@McNephelim@IAmTheIsland

Julia nodded, and seemed to relax a little when the sitation was already starting to get less chaotioc. She felt like she could breathe again. She'd made it. "My name is Julia Kray. It's a little bit of a long story but I'm not the only one who's looking for you today." Julia's eyes flicked to Sarah, then back to Madelyne. "Im not sure what the other guy wants but there was definitely magic involved, so I-"

Julia had not sensed any danger while she had been talking. Her instinct to dodge kicked in before her thoughts could keep up. The monster was here, and it had just tried to attack her. She could feel the stinging, burning sensation of a wound on her forehead. If she was even a fraction of a second slower, she'd be dead. She still didn't know the full story of why that strange woman had wanted Madelyne, but Julia somehow knew that Madelyna would be in danger. Being forced into a life like Julia's would be one of the better case scenarios, and kids should not have to deal with that kind of life. No teenager should need to get used to life-threatening situations. It had taken Julia a long time to deconstruct and reconstruct her entire sense of morality while in prison. Now she was going to put that effort into stopping anything similar from happening here.

There was not enough space here. Too many shadows in too close proximity, and limited manouverability compared to out in the open. Thinking quickly, Julia wrapped her ankle around a chair leg, pulled it closer, and then kicked the chair at Nigel with all her might. It became apparent that this was no middle-aged woman, with that feat of superhuman strength. Julia didn't even check whether ornot it connected. It didn't matter. That was just a distraction. Julia grabbed Madelyne's wrist and dragged her out of the restaurant. She offered no explaination. No apology. She said nothing to Madelyne or Sarah. No time. Mads struggled but this older woman's grip strength was the real deal.

Kenzo didn't reply to any of Taiwu's threats. It wasn't wise to try and continue the fight; too much chaos had occurred today in this little store. He might as well leave now. He shouted towards Ken, "Sorry for the chaos, Old Man.", he said, turning his foot to the exit of the store. But stopped mid-way to the exit, his skin tingling lightly at the feel of a simple breeze. "Something's Off."

Kenzo's gaze widened upon seeing the monster attacking the woman. "Shit!!", Kenzo turned completely to see the monster, which looked terrifying. Kenzo feared this might be something worse than any of the blue dragons. He fearfully adopted a fighting posture. Why would such an entity be here of all places? "W-What are you?", Kenzo's fists tightened enough to leave red marks on his palms. It's so weird. Why does he feel so scared now?

Despite seeing the middle-aged woman throw the chair and run away, Kenzo stayed in front of such monster. Standing right in the way of him and the exit where the woman and Madelyne left, Kenzo couldn't say a word, not even one. He knew that facing this was way out of his simple street league. But deep within him, something told him to aimlessly try and stop this thing; despite this being foolish, he couldn't kneel down and just let this thing out of the store. Such bravery, such foolish bravery.

@Kuro As Nancy turned on the news there was a news reporter in front of the bank that she had just been, the reporter a young woman in her early thirties was standing near where the truck had crashed into. "Witnesses on the scene saw the 70th Street gang, they managed to break into the vault at the bank. There was a few injuries, it could have been a lot worse witnesses saw someone in an armored suit take on a few of these gang members." She said as a clip was played showing Zero-Zero going toe to toe with the 70th street gang member known as 'Torro'.

Nancy would hear what sounded like someone breaking into the abandoned building, if she went to go and investigate where the sound had suddenly come from. She would see that there were four men dressed in suits, usually something that the Delgato's wore a lot of the time, it looks like they were getting ready to set up shop unaware that Nancy had been calling it home for quiet sometime now. "One of you go out and check the upper levels see what we are working with." The one who appeared to be the leader of the little group said.

@Master EffeX The Delgato that was sitting next to his partner, now dead, and blood splattered over his face and shirt. "What the fuck?" He said as he quickly stood up. He looked down at his now dead friend, and slowly started to back up from the scene before turning to face Kerys who was setting him free. "He was about to squeal so you did us a favor." He said trying to wipe off the blood off of his face while looking at the woman.

"Lead the way, I don't want to be here any longer than needed." The Delgato said as he started to make his way out into the hallway, where it was pure chaos there were some prisoners beating up on cops while some were trying to escape through the door that Kerys had gone through just moments ago to sneak into the building.

Diana Smith

Location: Veridian Technologies, Nighthaven, Paragon City
Skills: N/A

"I do remember that a little bit actually." Diana said as she looked over at KT as she explained what had happened and gave her a slight smile as she looked at Horace. "I've known KT for years i'm fine with her if she wants to tag along with us over to the warehouse." Diana said to him giving him a slight look letting him know that she trusted KT. "Lets head on over to the parking lot then." As she was about to head over towards the parking lot, she saw what looked like a massive bolt of lightening flying into the building and a woman stepped through the shattered windows and glared at everyone in the lobby.

"You all will die." The woman said as she glared at those at the cafe area sending a bolt of lightning over at them, but missed, the people who were in the lobby started to panic and started to flee. Diana quickly grabbed Horace and KT, teleporting them just out of sight near the restrooms. "Are you guys okay?" Diana asked looking at the two of them, not really caring if she was caught on camera using her powers.

Madalyne Crane

Location: Little Asia, The Lucky Noodle, Paragon City
Skills: Shield

Madalyne didn't know who the monster looking man was or the woman trying to drag her out of the Lucky Noodle. "Let go!" She said, feeling the strength that Julia had. She used some of her magic to wrestle her arm free from her grasp, and turned her attention towards the Weeping. She didn't know who or what he was but he was clearly a threat to everyone in the store, she used her magic to form a shield around the Weeping.

"What the hell are you?" She asked, she could sense something supernatural from him as Madalyne kept the shield around him looking at the rest of those in the store. "Should we call the police or something?" Madalyne asked she wasn't sure how strong the Weeping and if she could contain him there or not.
