So good first impressions of the worlds we're in, so definitely looking to see how they build and grow. Almost regretting sending Clark off into the Void.
Funniest thing about that is that Clark just managed to miss seeing the flying saucer crashlanding on Earth. Both in-universe and out of it. I only noticed that you'd posted your post before mine after looking back over what had been written so far.
I really want to get a UFO sighting reference into my posts now, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get it in the next one. So there may be a delayed reference to your post in the Arthur tales.

If and when you can work it in, I look forward to seeing it.
Also, it could be of a different ship. The group featured in my post aren't the only Martians that have fled their homeworld, nor have they only landed in America.

35 Years Ago: Robert Bruce Banner is born to the geneticist Dr. Brian Banner and his wife Rebecca. Their home life is very private and secretive, and Brian is known for being standoffish and easily frustrated at work, especially as he is repeatedly passed over for promotions or recognition. Dark rumors circulate that the insecure and volatile Dr. Banner takes his frustrations out on his wife and son.
30 Years Ago: The worst rumors about the Banner family are confirmed when Rebecca Banner calls 911 about a domestic disturbance. Police arrive on the scene to find Rebecca murdered, Brian blacked out in a drunken stupor, and 5-year-old Bruce hiding in his bedroom closet. Brian Banner is arrested, and Bruce is sent to live with his aunt. The young boy shows clear signs of severe physical and mental abuse.
29-20 Years Ago: Bruce Banner spends his childhood withdrawn, shy, and avoidant of his classmates. Through his school years, he has no real friends and no shortage of bullies. Despite this, Bruce excels in his classes and graduates early, earning summa cum laude at age 15.
19-10 Years Ago: Bruce receives a full-ride scholarship to Desert State Univeristy in Navapo, New Mexico. He displays an uncanny aptitude for nuclear physics, earning his Bachelor's degree at age 18. Bruce transfers to Penn State to earn his Master's degree by 20, then to CalTech for his doctorate, which he receives by age 25. All the while, Bruce gains a particular fascination with the unique properties of Gamma radiation, and forwards several theories about its potential applications.
9-5 Years Ago: Dr. Banner makes several proposals for new technologies to utilize Gamma radiation as a near-limitless energy source, and even proposes utilizing the mutagenic properties of its more extreme frequencies to restore damaged tissue. His ideas are considered radical by the scientific community, and Banner struggles to receive funding for his experiments.
5 Years Ago: Dr. Banner is contacted by General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross of the US Air Force about the development of a new fusion weapon. Banner refuses at first, but Ross eventually promises full funding for his other Gamma-related projects. In order to continue his philanthropic work, Dr. Banner agrees to assist in the development of the Gamma Bomb.
During this time, Banner meets General Ross's daughter, the free-spirited and empathetic Elizabeth “Betty” Ross. Betty takes an interest in the shy and quiet Bruce, and over time she wears down his psychological walls. Eventually, Bruce allows himself to open up to Betty, his first and only real friend.
3 Years Ago: Dr. Banner's involvement with the Gamma Bomb project grows more and more, until he is promoted to Project Director. This comes at the extreme displeasure of the project's original Director, Dr. Emil Blonsky. Banner spends more time in direct contact with General Ross, despite the two developing an intense dislike for each other. This dislike deepens when Bruce and Betty's relationship grows beyond friendship, and the two begin dating.
2 Years Ago: Bruce proposes to Betty, who agrees. The two become engaged, which infuriates General Ross. General Ross and Dr Banner's working relationship deteriorates, with the envious Blonsky insinuating himself as a go-between to keep the Gamma Bomb project on schedule. Bruce and Betty agree to marry after work on the Gamma Bomb is complete, and they can be together far away from her father's influence.
1 Year Ago: The prototype of the Gamma Bomb is complete, and Dr. Banner oversees a test detonation in the New Mexico desert. Minutes before the scheduled detonation, Banner sees a civilian- a teenage boy- who had unwittingly wandered onto the testing ground undetected. Unable to stop the countdown, Bruce rushes onto the testing ground and rushes the teenager to shelter. Before he can get to shelter himself, the Gamma Bomb detonates, with Dr. Banner caught in the blast.
In the wake of the explosion, Dr. Banner's body is never found. He is believed dead, vaporized by the weapon he helped create.
11 Months Ago: Massive seismic activity is detected deep in the Chihuahuan Desert, nowhere near any known fault lines. Later investigations of the epicenter reveal a crater consistent with that of a catastrophic impact.
9 Months Ago: A truck stop on I-40 between Phoenix and Tucson is utterly destroyed. Officially the cause is listed as an explosion of a petroleum tank, but the damage to the building and the surrounding vehicles far exceeds what would be expected from such an explosion. Eyewitnesses report seeing a “hulking monster” in the midst of the chaos.
4 Months Ago: Authorities in Bear Lake, Utah, arrest an unidentified homeless man for vagrancy. Hours later, the police station is destroyed, along with much of the town square and several buildings in a path leading into the open desert. Emergency responders are quickly joined by military elements, who overrun the town and label the incident as a terror attack from political extremists. Like the I-40 incident, however, some eyewitness reports describe a “hulking figure” amid the destruction. Latching onto the shared word to describe the supposed monster, conspiracy theorists label the entity “the Hulk.”
2 Months Ago: General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross mobilizes elements of the 307th Bomber Wing to conduct top-secret “training maneuvers” in the Colorado desert, days after a supposed Hulk sighting in the area. The details are strictly classified, but records show enough ammunition was routed to these “training maneuvers” to engage and destroy an entire armored division. Furthermore, one bomber is forced to make an emergency crash-landing after an unexpected collision. Damage to the craft suggests it was struck with a massive blunt object, as if a large boulder had been flung into the air at it.
Today: Aerial drones patrolling the airspace over Wyoming have captured footage of a man wandering northeast toward Cheyenne. A man whose facial features the drone’s software has identified as a perfect match for the late Dr. Bruce Banner…

I plan on using Bruce as a catalyst for character interactions, as various heroes can try to slug it out with the big guy or call on the scientific wits of Banner. Also, Hulk is probably the most criminally under-served character in all of Marvel’s A-list, especially after his dismal handling in the MCU, and I’d like to be able to put a little respect back on Big Green’s name.

Centuries ago, the Themiskyrian Amazons originally inhabited Themiskyra, a city located on the southern coast of the Black Sea in modern-day Turkey. Over the years, various Greek Heroes, such as Bellerophon, Herakles, Theseus, and Akhilleus, clashed with the Themiskyrians in Amazonomachies and decimated their warriors, including many of their queens. With their numbers diminished and enemies on all corners, the remaining Amazons departed the mainland and resettled on Olbia Nesos, Paradise Island (lit. the Blessed Island), where they remained in isolation. The last Themiskyrian who stepped foot in the world of man was Thalestris, whose band of Warrior-Women became lost and were never seen again. This left Diana of Themiskyra with the sole task of ruling over Paradise Island as their queen.
Helena Sandsmark achieved her world-renown reputation as an archaeologist from an important discovery at a dig in Athens that provided evidence for the historicity of the Amazonian invasion of Athens during the Bronze Age. From this archaeological and historical breakthrough, Helena secured a position at the Gateway City Museum of Antiquities. A few years later, Helena had a daughter, Cassandra with a mysterious man who left their lives just as suddenly he had appeared. Unbeknown to mother or daughter, the true identity of Cassandra's father was Zeus, the King of the Olympian Gods.
Because Zeus has always been an absent father to all his mortal children, Cassie was raised solely by her mother. Due to her mother's busy career, which included international travel for archaeological digs, Cassie often acted out for attention. The lack of answers from her mother about her dad frustrated Cassie. Once Cassie started attending college, people thought she had outgrown her trouble child phase, as she was pursuing a degree in Classical Studies, almost as if she were following in her mother's footsteps. But what actually happened was that, after the meta-bomb went off, strange phenomena started to pop up around Cassie, things she couldn't rationally explain. Oak trees would spontaneously sprout up where no trees had been standing the day before. Eagles would randomly perch on trees and roofs in Cassie's vicinity. Even the outbreak of thunderstorms would sometimes weirdly coincide when Cassie felt stressed or angry.
After Cassie earned her Master's degree in Classical Studies, she decided that academia was not the career for her and therefore did not pursue a PhD in the same field. Instead, she returned home and worked at Gateway City Museum of Antiquities with her mother while she tried to figure out what path she would take next in her life. On one fateful night, while Cassie was alone at the museum, she experienced something fantastical that would launch Cassie on her journey to become Wonder Woman.
P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S )
I've been told in the past that I should try my hand at Wonder Woman in one of these games due to my enthusiasm for and knowledge of Greco-Roman Mythology. After watching this video essay about the inconsistent characterization of Wonder Woman's villains and giving the idea some thought, I feel I have a concept I would enjoy writing. I have decided to go with Cassie instead of Diana so that I can do a twist on the Wonder Woman origin story (as this game is a "superheroes are a recent thing" setting). Instead of Diana leaving Paradise Island and being a fish out of water in the modern world, Cassie will be undergoing an inverse adventure, where she needs to leave the "World of Man" and find Paradise Island.
The premise of this interpretation centers on the idea of a world without an active Wonder Woman at the start of the story. Outside of this premise, I tried to keep Cassie's backstory relatively vanilla and then applied the implications of a lack of Wonder Woman from there. Furthermore, there is some precedence for an adult Cassie as Wonder Woman, including her Earth-55 counterpart, a hypothetical Teen Titans future, and a 2000's Young Justice story line.
I envision Hera being Cassie's primary antagonist for this concept, as this goes naturally with her being a daughter of Zeus. I see Hera more as a scheming/mastermind villain who sends other baddies against Cassie instead of confronting herself (possibly because Hera sees it as beneath herself to do her own dirty work). This would allow Cassie to encounter both Wonder Woman's rogues gallery and foe & monsters plucked from Greco-Roman mythology. For example, I can imagine an implication of Diana never leaving Paradise Island could be Barbara Minerva taking Diana's position at the Museum of Antiquities, which could give Cassie personal stakes when Hera pits Cheetah against her.
