Small Biography:

She was born fifteen minutes before her brother Miguel. Her parents had been told by a fortune teller that they were going to have one very large baby boy. Then out came the very small and terrifyingly quiet girl. It took a few minutes of the midwife rubbing and smacking to elicit the calming screams of healthy lungs. Then came Miguel rambunctious and fighting.

The pair were inseparable growing up. Miguel was a strong and hearty young boy but it was Espie who was quick and clever. Together their mischief caused their parents more than one headache. The two vowed at a young age, before they ever really understood it, that they were born together and so would die together. The only times they were seen apart was when Miguel went to the small local school. Espie would stay at home with her mother and help with chores and cooking. She learned all the secrets of herbs and how they tasted together. She learned to stretch ingredients. She also learned a small amount of basic medicine from her mother. Espie never learned to read or write since that was not her job. As a good woman she would cook and clean for her family. And of course produce babies. Her mother had a very traditional ideal for gender roles. Of course, Miguel taught her basic words to read and write so that she would not be lost when walking the streets.

Her mother was a hard and honest woman. Paloma took no "shit" and was very blunt. It was when she was being sweet you had to worry. She had a calm temper and when they were in trouble they could tell by her sickly sweet tone that something bad was about to happen. Paloma was also the one who taught Espie to sing. She learned many songs from her family's home country of Brazil. She learned Irish shanties from her Father who has a hard, thick, muscular man. He had a twinkle in his eye, a grin on his face, and a pipe between his lips. He left his beard grown big, bushy and red. When he could come home at night smelling like oil from the factory she and Miguel would curl up with him and listen to grand stories and adventures. Glen was the fun dad, the dad you told your secrets to. But Paloma was the punisher but also the one you would go to for advice on a problem.

In this way, she had a lovely and adventurous childhood. She learned skills for being an adult but was also allowed time to run off and play with her brother. Around the time when Espie and Miguel were 8, her parents went missing. They had gone to the marketplace never to return. For days they waited and eventually they were declared dead. They were taken in by an uncle who already lived in their home. The pair received sizable savings from their parents. The two were heartbroken and never quite recovered from this loss. Miguel never allowed Espie to go to market on her own.

When Espie was 17 she was doing charity work in Lisden when she was briefly kidnapped. Her left leg was stolen and she was left for dead in the muddy, dirty streets of the slums. An old woman found her and brought her to the boundary between Lisden and Korven. It was here her brother found her abandoned and near death. She was taken to the hospital to repair the damage. This left her with a stump of a thigh and all of the savings diminished. After a couple of years of being supported by her brother and healing up, she decided it was time to get her own job. She could not do honest work, a lack of a leg did not allow this. Instead, she found herself at the Flying Lotus where her beautiful singing voice earned her a position there. Life since then has been less turbulent but she worries for the safety of her brother.

Miguel has a love of travel. He likes to see all that there is to see and experience different parts of the world. He especially likes his forrays into Eden. It is where he feels he belongs. He enjoys reading a good non-fiction novel, preferably of history when he can come across it. He also enjoys the thrills his job offers. In his downtime, he takes pleasure in going to the busy markets and being among the nightlife of the city.

Miguel was born a mere fifteen minutes after his sister. But somehow everyone thought he much older than she. He developed more rapidly and was always taller. She was his light, the only love of his life since childhood. He did love his parents as well but his sister was and is the most important thing to him. He grew up smart, having the advantage of a nearby school to teach him all the reading, writing, and arithmetic he could ever need. He taught his sister a little, while his parents were not looking, so she could at least function in society as needed.

When he was 8 he lost his parents. It hit Espie harder than it ever did him. In this world, it did not pay to get too close to others so he put all his efforts into only one. It was a few years later he discovered his proclivities. He only ever told Espie about his sexual desires for men and made her promise to never tell a soul. He did not feel it would do him good to be an outted man with where he wanted to go in life. He had a couple of dangerous trysts but found them lacking.

When his sister disappeared he thought he would die. He spent the whole of that afternoon into the evening searching for her. Her charity group had come back without her and he swore their deaths should she be harmed. He found Espie at the border of Lisden and for the first time in his life saw the red his sister described. He knew he had to get her somewhere safe so Miguel stabbed his own leg with a pocket knife and broke the spell. He carried her to a hospital in Eden where she was healed. It took all of their savings and still, he owed more. He took up a position in the Unseen, having avoided gang life up until this point. But he needed quick cash to help his only love. To this day he is still paying back this debt, but will never let Espie know. After doing some digging he found it was the Kings who took her leg.

What surprised him was how much he loved the work. He made his way up through the ranks until becoming the sort of man who would fix problems. Whether it was to kill someone, clean up a mess, or torture to get information - he knew what he was doing. It satisfied some sick desire in him but also scared him. His least favourite was to clean up other people's messes. He had no joy in creating the mess in the first place. His goal is to get himself and his sister out of Korven and to live a life of ease in Eden.

Tall, dark and handsome? Try smug, loud and quick to leave- Typical of a man who's primary wardrobe consists of nothing but a single white suit, two ties, and a literal basket of grungy rags. If you didn't know any better, it'd be hard to tell him apart from the rest of the rabble that linger uncomfortably outside of Eden's walls. Unless you're unfortunate enough to find yourself pulled into a discussion with Desmond, most would find themselves passing him by without a second thought.

His unimposing stature adds to the transparency of his character. Meek and unassuming at a first glance, Desmond prefers not to turn heads with his fashion sense. He's not exactly armed to the teeth or brimming with biceps, and has an uncommon talent for irritating some of the nastiest people around whenever he opens his mouth. So yes, a low profile suits this five foot seven chemist just fine. If it's what poor people wear, then it'll have to do!

When dealing with his nasty cohorts, Desmond sees fit to fancy himself up a bit. Nobody with that much money or manpower would be doing business with a run-of-the-mill thug, after all. Sit downs will force out his better side. Needless to say, Desmond cleans up well, and absolutely loves wearing a suit. Not only does the thread count make him look like the head of a multi million dollar corporation, which isn't too far from the truth, but his posture and aura change for the better as well! What once was a hollow, slouched, unassuming little man, becomes a head-held-high businessperson with pockets full of tricks, and a spine made of iron. Despite the vast improvement, Desmond wears a worn-out old watch at all times. It doesn't have any sentimental value or anything. It just works, really well. Expensive watches get stolen all the time. Who the hell would want to steal something so ugly?

Regardless of what he's wearing, or how his posture is fairing, Desmond absolutely cannot go without flooding his hair with one product or another. It's like some kind of weird obsession- If his hair isn't wavy, slicked back, or styled in some fashion, he can't leave the house in a good mood. Sometimes it can attract some unwanted attention, but his scruffy facial hair detracts from his other features just enough to keep him on the down low.

Some other defining features include serious burn scars that run up the middle of his right forearm, to just underneath his armpit, and a birthmark smack dab over the back of his neck. It kind of looks like a little butterfly, if the butterfly was dissolved in acid and poked full of holes first.

There are so many ways to say the word prick, but only a few would apply to the nuance of Desmond's personalty.

The most common first impression that Desmond leaves on people, is one stained with his Abrasive tendencies. Whether it's confronting somebody about their recently deceased pet, or touching on the finer aspects of cancer with a cancer patient, he applies little to no tact, whatsoever. But that's not without lack of trying, in his own twisted little way. Above all else, Desmond is very Attentive and invests himself in every little detail he can, even when those little details make up a wholly vapid an obnoxious conversation. He'll give anyone the time of day, provided they don't set him off somehow, or raise a few hundred red flags. Even the slightest danger will send him in the opposite direction without another word. He's awfully Careful about how he goes about his business, and never likes to get his hands dirty. Truth be told, Desmond is Cowardly. Guns terrify him, murder is a definite hell-no zone, and anything even remotely violent can stay way the hell away from his lifestyle. With his current set up though, Desmond feels totally safe- A little safer than he actually is. Although he's got an IQ north of 150, it doesn't save him from being an overtly Arrogant son of a bitch. Being absolutely Aloof to negativity helps with his thought process, but it also makes him prone to slight errors, and in the crime world, slight errors can be the only thing between you and jail- Or worse, the morgue.

She was outcast to Lisden where she burned the mark off of her wrist. The drugs had made her insane already, but the cold and hunger drove the nail home. She has wandered for years through the slums, selling herself for a bit of cash and a bit of drug. She then started to learn Tarot. It was given to her by an old lady. She claimed she was curded with the future and so too now would Aberdeen. She began to use her skill to get some coin but the more time she spent in Lisden the less people wished to come near her.

The last time she properly interacted with a human being was when she found a girl with out a leg. She comforted the young woman as she brought her toward Korven. When she saw a muscular young man approach she left the girl to be found before scurrying off to get into new mischief. Or steal food from the nearest trash can.

Elliot is an intelligent, caring human being. He's not as talkative or outright emotion as he used to be, but he still is a friendly person that tries to make the world a better place that come to him for help. He values intelligence and ingenuity, as well as honesty. There's too many liars in the world, even if he lies himself from time to time he tries not to make it a habit. While he knows his way around a gun he'd rather avoid killing anyone, he has enough on his mind already. Elliot feels for the downtrodden people, those that have been handed a bad card in life and wishes he could help those people out more. When on 'mission' he dedicates himself to the task, not stopping until he finds an answer, any answer. He's been known to take less then he could in monetary payment to help out people that hit a particular soft spot within him.

Though beaten badly mentally and emotionally by certain events in his life he continues to try to make something with his life. The intense depression often times gets in the way of that, but he always digs himself out of the hole before he sinks too deep into it. He's emotionally distant, rarely smiling or laughing, and avoiding large social gatherings. He doesn't have many friends, if any. In his spare time he often just walks the streets, silently, trying to get his mind in the right place. He can count on one hand the number of times he's remembered smiling in the last week. In recent times he's found himself looking at life very negatively, he tries not to get his hopes up that often, in fear of those hopes being crushed.

Hobbies and Interests: Some of Elliot's greatest hobbies include making music, playing his acoustic guitar and reading books. He also enjoys video games that he can immerse himself in though he has not played on in awhile. He's been known to wander the streets of Eden, with no real set destination sometimes. He's been known to frequent quiet bars and restaurants in the area, though he does not stay at those places very long due to his dislike of alcoholism.

Small Biography: Elliot was born in Eden, a few blocks from his current location in a crowded apartment building. His family was middle class, his mother a secretary for a well known lawyer and his father a cop in Eden, one of the few non crooked ones at that. It was natural that one day Elliot would find himself in the same line of work as his father, who was his greatest inspiration. His mother died when he was ten, leaving his father in sole care of Elliot and his younger sister, Julia. Elliot was by all regards a good kid who stayed out of trouble.

He was an average student, following in his father's footsteps in becoming a cop. He joined the local police academy and was one of the most promising future policemen there, his father's teachings what set him apart from many of the others. He would find himself becoming a full fledged police officer at the age of 22, serving in the district as his dad. His sister meanwhile ended up at a fancy college, on her way to becoming something greater, she always was the more ambitious one in the family.

Elliot witnessed first hand the chaos and crime within Morvai, including the corruption which filled much of the police ranks. As a newer recruit he could not do much to combat this corruption, even his father who was higher up the hierarchy could only do so much. He tried to be like his father, fair and honest, caring above all else. They were meant to protect and serve, never to abuse the power they were given. His outlook on life as a policeman would change towards the end of his fourth year when his father was gunned down in a drive by shooting, in broad daylight.

Stunned and rattled, he fell into an emotional spiral, breaking down in tears at his father's funeral. When he recovered the young Elliot put all of his time on finding out who killed his father. He was utterly unable to follow any trails or clues, his father had been killed by a powerful gang, having made himself a target by leading raids and mass arrests on The Hidden. The powerful gang had bribes tied up within the police ranks, forcing Elliot to formally drop the case. In his off duty time he continued the investigation, informally. Unable to use the resources allowed to a police officer, he could not figure out exactly who did it, other than finding several names with no locations pinned to them. This failure still haunts him to this day.

From that point on Elliot became a less optimistic man, being unable to fight the corruption within the police, only able to do what good he could himself. It angered and saddened him deeply, a grudge he'd hold against the other corrupt police. By the time he was in his late twenties he had met a girl, one of the most beautiful he could ever recall laying eyes on, Isabelle. Immediately smitten with her, the two eventually fell deeply in love with one another. When he was with her, life seemed happy, all his frustrations were gone, he was at peace.

She'd become pregnant with his child, and the thought of becoming a father delighted Elliot. He'd already decided to name the child after his father if it were a boy. Unfortunately, things would not turn out as he hoped, tragedy would strike once more. While he was out on patrol, their apartment was broken into and ransacked by thieves. Isabelle was killed by one of the thugs, Elliot was the first one of the scene, holding his wife's hand as she died with their child inside of her. This would be what sent Elliot down his current emotional path, a man that didn't have anything left.

The scum that had broken into his home were captured within a week, Elliot was filled with rage as he caught the one that killed his wife. It was a young punk, who needed a gang initiation by taking an innocent life. Elliot snapped and beat the murderer bloody, harder than he had ever hit anyone. Mercy was gone, this animal gave his wife no mercy. By the time his fellow officers had pulled him off the brutalized body of the man, he was beyond saving. Elliot had taken a life, it was not the first time he'd done it, but it was the first time he recalled feeling zero remorse.

He was dismissed from the police force following that incident. Elliot received no criminal charges due to the events surrounding it. Any mention of the killing of his wife's killer was scrubbed, for all the public knew it was just another gang banger that met a grisly fate on the streets. He dwelt in unemployment for several months, attempting to recollect his emotions. Then he decided what to do next with his life, trying to make a difference as an independent entity, someone who could help people and fit in the cracks which the corrupt police avoided or ignored.

It was then the Connolly Investigative Agency was born. He slowly began to get work, earning a reputation as a dedicated worker who always gave his clients a resolution. For the past nearly two years he has worked as a private investigator, finding the freedom of it refreshing.

Hobbies and Interests: Quint's job can be fairly high stress. It's true that a proper job is pulled off without any complications, but unfortunately those complications do happen and they create significant tension. Thus you can imagine a lot of Quint's downtime is spend relaxing either in his modest apartment suite or drinking down with the regulars at the Floating Lotus. Another big part of his job involves waiting. Either to get through Customs or waiting for a Client. It's easy to let the anxiety of a job get the better of you in these instances, so Quint has taken to sketching to keep his hands busy. Hardly the kind of things that would wind up in a gallery, but he likes them.

Small Biography: Quint does not know who his parents were. He assumes they were killed, as he knows he was one of several babies rescued from a baby farm and raised in an orphanage. It was at a young age he cultivated his particular talent for smuggling and stealing. He was the kid who snuck in candy bars to the other kids once lights were out. Life as an orphan was far from easy, and without the guidance of a parental unit he often found himself lashing out and learnt the basics of brawling on the streets. Overall that life taught him to be happy with what he had gained as an adult and never demand more than what he thought was his fair share. It's one of the aspects of his personality that made him such a sought after Mover.
Beneath his stoic professionalism is a deep loneliness that he doesn't really know how to fix, so he drowns it in the company of friends and drinks.

You ever been in the right spot at the wrong time? It sucks, let me tell your that... But it's probably bad form to start at the end of a story, so let me rewind a little.

I was born to two drug addicted shitheads near the Lisden wall in Korven, whose dumbest idea was having me. I'm not going to tell you much about this, since you're probably already well acquainted with stories like these. Druggie parents abuse daughter, daughter runs away. The end.

With no job to my name, it was either turning to prostitution (dont get me wrong, sex is great, but I prefer picking my partners) or join a gang... I enlisted in Morvai's Security. Not exactly the Kings or Unseen, are they? Brutal stuff, that. But never underestimate the tenacity of a street urchin who's hungry for a meal.

I guess I'm what you'd call a loose cannon. I got my job done, sure, but it usually involved plenty of collateral damage. You'd think they'd assign me a deskjob, right? Yeah, well, I never did well with computers... Gives me a splitting headache. Plus, I did mention I delivered results, right?

Because of this, I was always butting heads with the Captain at the time... At one point even literally! Van der Beek was a strict man, always wanting things to go by the book. Honorable though. I might not have gotten along with the prick, but I sure respected him.

Fast forwards a few years and I got a call that there was a disturbance at Van der Beek's residence. The man lived in a pretty nice part of Korven. Not quite Eden, but close enough. Anyway, I got there and find the man; head splattered across one of those avant garde paintings he so liked. Before I could even call in what I was seeing, there were sirens blaring outside. Being the only one on the scene, I was detained.

For the record, I want to explain that until that point I actually still believed in some form of justice. I figured they'd soon find out that I wasnt the one who pulled the trigger. Why would I? So you can understand my disbelief when they apparently found my gun on the scene, and a bullet from my gun lodged in the wall.

I probably should pause here for a second to tell you about Abram Tanaka. Work with me here. Imagine the slimiest corporate executive you can. Good, you got the sleek hair? The suit? Those weaselly eyes? Now imagine that person working for a security firm with access to criminal databases.

Turns out I was the perfect scapegoat for Tanaka's fast track to the top. I'm a poor slob from Korven. I have records of violence. People knew about me and Van der Beek's clashing. Aka, the perfect goddamn target to pin a murder on.

The evidence was flimsy, but the judges didn't care; they were already in Tanaka's pockets by the point. So I was thrown into the LEVEL-9 facility. You know the one, where they keep the worst of the worst? You can probably imagine how much fun it is there as a person who put some of those fucko's behind bars. Had to train myself to sleep with one eye open...

Anyway, I was sentenced for life... Tanaka probably expected me to get shanked on the first night. Heh, wish I could've seen the fucker's face after still kicking it after nearly 2 years.

I got lucky, turns out the Kings had plans to bust out one of their higher ranking members. I simply took advantage of the chaos and slipped away. Turns out that thugs with actual urban combat training are quite wanted in Korven. Who knew, right? Plus, you know that LEVEL-9 brand? The one that pretty much ruins any chance you'd ever have for a normal job? Turns out it's quite the badge of honor around these parts. Not a lot of folk survive LEVEL-9.

Doubt Tanaka would dare to go after me after all this time, he's the last person who wants to see my old file opened up again. Pretty sure I'm officially declared dead hah! I haven't forgotten about the snake though and I'm not resting till I lodge a bullet in his skull.
