"Annbury is alright. It’s home, I guess? There’s stuff to do, the people who live here are alright… I can’t really complain, but it smells like IPAs and bad weed… that’s just kinda California, I’ve realized."

The city of Annbury is a college town, first and foremost.

It’s populated mostly by the youth for the most part, with only a few older residents. The town is fairly modern and progressive, a product of the people who live there and vote in the elections. There are some smaller apartments off campuses existing mainly for student housing, but for the most part, the houses belong to students at the college who come from wealthy families.

Like a lot of Southern California hotspots, there are a lot of tech startups headquartered in Annbury. These often employ students from CCU as unpaid interns who are looking to pad their resume. Occasionally, this turns into a longer term employment setup, but not often.

Though there’s only one main tourist attraction (a combination zoo and amusement park, with a few roller coasters…), there are still a few things to do around town. Most of it is geared toward college students, with things like a fun center with an arcade, go-kart track, and mini-golf course, a high rate movie theater, and a skate park among other things...

"Okay, so CCU wasn’t my first choice. Or my second. Or my third, but dammit it was my seventh and they let me in pretty easy. Now, I play mini-golf so drunk I can barely stand every weekend. And that? That my friends… is living."

The student body of Cape Córdoba University is vast and varied. With a reach that goes across the world, CCU is open to student applications from all kinds of aspiring students. CCU has a lot of factors that make it an appealing university choice for both American and international students. Boasting a strong NCAA Division 1 program, CCU is a nationally accredited university, offering both law and med school. Students also typically attend the school for its popular and well regarded engineering, computer science, arts and robotics programs.

This is going to be a heavily slice of life roleplay, focusing on the students and staff of Cape Córdoba University. Taking place in the year 2019, its setting will be the aforementioned university, and the town of Annbury, in Marin County, California. General Rules

• Regular site rules: No godmodding, no perfect characters, no cybering, etc, etc.
• Post your C.S. in the OOC and await approval before posting it. Please refer to the character creation rules for additional information!
• We expect everyone to behave and act like mature people. It’s not hard to be excellent toward each other, and that’s really all we care about.
• That being said, if there is a problem, PM us about it. We’re nice people and we’re happy to help with any issues that arise.

IC Rules

• About activity: try to post once every ten days. We feel this is a fair requirement, and can be helpful in keeping the RP moving. In addition, if you’re going to go on a hiatus, let us know. We’ll work with you to make sure the transition back is clean and easy.
• Quality over quantity. We don’t need an essay from you; this is a High Casual (because we’re cowards and won’t say we’re Advanced) roleplay. Just write enough that you’re constantly pushing your character(s)’s story forward.
• We will allow collabs, and understand that these can sometimes hang writers up. Let us know if you’re working on something and have reached a hangup.
• If you’re planning something that can affect the mood of the roleplay, please let the GMs know. For example, a drunk driving car crash, a death in the family… that sort of thing.
• If your characters are going to have sex, you should know when to fade to black — keep it like… TV-14, at a max.
• We’re not going to have a set posting order, just try to be active and around.

Character Creation Rules

• Real faceclaims mandatory, and should be appropriate for a modern setting.
• We’re accepting staff members (professors, IT staff, janitors, etc.) as well as students.
• Try to make your characters as realistic/fitting for the setting as possible.
• Students can be TAs or RAs, at the GM team’s discretion.

Sandy is a handsome looking young man with curly brown hair and light green eyes. He has lightly tanned skin from his Filipino heritage. He often has stubble or a beard which he is very proud of. Sanford stands at around six foot tall and weighs in at a lean two hundred pounds. Having spent years training to dance and perform, Sandy retains a healthy and athletic physique.

As far as aesthetically, the mayor of sleaze city dresses to impress. Sandy is not afraid to express himself, with his wardrobe generally reflecting his mood for the day. This can range from an old flannel and dirty blue jeans one day to a bright salmon suit jacket and floral shirt the next. He wears glasses for both reading and as a general accessory to match his occasional guy liner.

Sandy is a young man who oozes charisma from every pore. He knows who he is, accepts who he is and doesn’t give a damn whether you like it or not. He is flamboyant, charming and totally reeks of awesomeness. A goofball and a self appointed sleazebag, he loves to laugh, make you laugh and then steal your girlfriend or boyfriend while your bent over giggling. In spite of this, people gravitate towards Sandy and love him all the same.

Sandy Blanchard came into this world as the fatherless son of court reporter Cerina Estrada. He grew up in Miami, Florida and was your everyday average kid for a good portion of his childhood. His mother worked all the time so he helped out around the house and took odd jobs around the neighbourhood to earn a little money. This instilled a strong work ethic in him early on. He discovered a love for performing early on and in his spare time began acting in stage shows and dancing in competitions.

A knock on the door one day changed everything. On the other side of the glass was Auggie Blanchard, the night club king of South Beach and the one night stand that caused Cerina to fall pregnant with Sandy. The emergence of his father caused a rift between Cerina and Sandy as the boy was desperate to know his old man and she didn’t want anything to do with him or the lifestyle he led. The allure of the neon night club lights was too much for Sandford and he soon ended up living with his father in his glamorous apartment above the nightclub The Pegasus Club.

Entering into his formative teenage years, Sandy adopted his fathers surname and began to live the fast lane lifestyle of a club promoters son, sex, drugs, booze and parties. He loved every second of it. He continued his love affair with performing however and soon began to follow a dream to be a director. He was a part of the AV club,he was in charge of the schools theatre productions and he was part of the school council. Working hard and playing hard very much became Sandy’s entire identity and what he was known for. If something in one of his productions wasn’t up to his high standard, he would just do it himself; be it singing vocals for a song, holding a light in a specific place or just getting the coffees for his crew.

When the time to came to pick colleges, the choice of CCU wasn’t his first but the idea of being so close to Hollywood, it’s connections and it’s parties was too tempting to pass up. Once enrolled in CCU, Sandy took to college life like a fish to water. He excelled in his classes, partied the night away and still managed to add more to his plate by taking a job at the college radio station, hosting his own podcast and occasionally dabbling in the amateur porn arena as a director. Work hard, play hard, it’s all a game for the Sandman, a game he intends to win.

Jonathan, like his parents, was born in the tiny island nation of Taiwan. His mother, being from a prominent house within their society, was much more well off than his father. His father, coming from a more humble beginnings, was not immediately accepted by his future parents-in-law.

On his mother's side, the family had a very successful business. When his mother and father married, it was discovered that, though he seemed every bit a 'Jack-Of-All-Trades' type, his father actually was very entrepreneurial and had a knack for running a good business as well. Under the leadership of his mother and father, the family business thrived, paving the way of the lifestyle Jonathan and his family grew accustomed to.

Two years after he was born, Jonathan's parents had a daughter. She currently has no plans on leaving her home to pursue education or employment elsewhere.

Growing up, Jonathan was never wanting. He simply had to ask, and he received. However, that is not to say his parents gave him everything he wanted without first validating the need or merit in Jonathan receiving what he is asking for. For example, for some reason when he was eight, Jonathan wanted a vintage watch to wear. These are valued in similar fashion to collector's cars. Jonathan asked for a vintage Radiomir Panerai, one of the more expensive vintage watches in the market, if one can even have one imported from Europe. His parents agreed, on the condition of him doing whatever chore they asked of him, without recourse, for six months. When six months came and gone, and Jonathan fulfilled his part of the bargain, a pristine Panerai watch showed up in his room one afternoon and it was his to keep and care for. Until this day, Jonathan still has the watch, although he does not wear it anymore.

Being the first, and male, child to a family of people with extremely high business acumen, it was a simple choice when it came to his post-secondary educational facility. Choosing CCU, Jonathan naturally excelled at anything dealing with business, and its finer and perhaps darker, details. That is not to say he did not take time away from the books to enjoy the happenings in the life of a college student.

His face is in a constant state of light stubble due to occasional trims with his electric razor. He has his Chinese fathers dark brown eyes and long lashes with thin but dark eyebrows. He has a sharp but handsome face and a well dentured smile. His eyes are adorned with an expensive pair of black square rimmed reading glasses and his ears with gold studs.

He’s a tall man, standing a tad over six feet, with a lean but muscular body. Regular exercise has kept him from getting a beer gut, but even more regular drinking keeps him from having any noticeable abs. Other than that he has pretty muscular arms and chest.

He dresses pretty stylishly most of the time. Choosing to spend his allowance on fine clothes at least once a month.

Frederick Luther Mingmang was born in Philadelphia, PA to his mother Demetria, a Philly native, and his father Gon-Shen from Beijing. From a young age Fred was always in a constant battle with his father over where his life was headed. From music, to sports, cooking, or acting, his father constantly disapproved of every dream Fred had. As far as Gon-Shen was concerned, none of those careers had any dignity or honor attached to them. He wanted to his son to work hard, get a degree, and establish himself in a respectable career.

Of course having such clashing ideologies with his father lead Fred to feel aimless in life. He started a life of partying and reckless behavior in his early teens. Luckily for Fred, he had a natural academic gift so his grades were hardly affected. But when high school drew to a close he realized he still had no plans for what to do after. That’s when he had a brilliant idea. If Gon-Shen wanted his son to be a successful career man like himself, that’s what he’d get.

At least, that’s what Fred let him think. He told his father that he planned to major in Aerospace Engineering, just like his old man. His father was so excited by this idea that he didn’t even mind that the school Fred wanted to attend was across the country in California. Gon-Shen agreed to pay for Fred’s room and board as well as sending Fred a monthly allowance, so long as he kept his grades up. Exactly as Fred had planned.

So Fred went off to college and has ever since been spending almost every night partying and hanging out with his bros. He’s been living the good life at college, having a blast, drinking, loving lots of women, and traveling the west coast. All while keeping his grades up. The only problem is he still hasn’t quite figured out what he wants to do with his life yet. Fred only has a few years left to figure out what he actually wants to do before he ends up stuck following in his father’s footsteps.

Camilla and her younger sister, Carmen were born to Jose and Luisa Hernandez in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. At the young age of three, her parents had decided to make the trek and emigrate to the United States of America in order to escape the harsh conditions that her family faced in Mexico. Unfortunately, they could not afford to be placed on the mile-long waiting list that was the legal way, and hearing horror stories about how long it took to even be considered for a visa in the United States was something the Hernandez clan could not take, especially with their situation becoming more and more dire with every waking second that they stayed in Villahermosa.

They made the decision to make their trip to the border, in hopes of getting into the country in other ways. Uprooting themselves, they trekked the 1500+ mile trip all the way to the American Border. It was not an easy journey, to say the least. Along the way, they faced horrid conditions and faced a lot of adversity, including but not limited to: the authorities, the weather, and the death of people who simply couldn't make the dangerous trip. Luckily, the Hernandez family had managed to make the trip and survive, and eventually they laid down roots in El Paso, Texas after making contact with relatives that just so happened to be there.

Camilla spent the first years of her schooling career struggling massively, since there was such a huge language barrier for her to overcome. It was hard for her to comprehend and have a grip on the English language at first. But with perseverance and hard work, she managed to be designated fluent in the English language by the time she had finished the fifth grade. From then on, things weren't as hard for her on that aspect, but there was still a lot that she had to deal with on other aspects. Despite the fact that she was around a lot of people that were in the same boat as her as illegal immigrants, she still faced discrimination and adversity that frustrated her. An instance of such is the fact that she was not able to get an actual job.

Despite all that was stacking against her, she managed to make it through high school and not only graduate with a degree, but graduate as a valedictorian and maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout all four years. It was an accomplishment like that that landed her a full ride scholarship to Cape Cordoba University, where she currently studies law.

Nastasia is a young, black woman who towers over a good portion of the women in her age bracket; she stands at five feet, eleven inches tall in flats and weighs in at a little over 185 pounds. She has more of an athletic build thanks to her exercise habits; her arms and legs are toned, and her abdomen is flat. Her soft-curled, shoulder length hair is dense but yielding, and thick enough to lose your fingers in. The young woman's skin is smooth and, on most days, free of any acne or scarring. When she's smiling, something that she does often, you'll be able to see two rows of pearly whites, almost perfectly straight despite never needing braces. She has helix piercings, conch piercings, tragus piercings, and lobe piercings in both of her ears. Sia also has multiple tattoos: her left arm sleeve is nearly complete, as well as the koi fish on her right thigh. She also has a few small finger tattoos that she got when she was a teenager.

When it comes to her fashion sense, Sia puts a great amount of time and effort into putting together her outfits. After all, it wouldn't really be a good look for the VP of Urban Couture to not look her absolute best on every occasion. You'll usually see her running around in a nice pair of pants, a solid colored blouse or top, and a pair of heels or boots. She'll accessorize by sporting a silver chain around her neck as well as three to five rings on her fingers. When it comes to makeup, Nastasia doesn't usually apply much of it unless she's going to a party or some special occasion; her daily routine simply consists of applying brows, a bit of foundation, lashes, and lip gloss.

Nastasia Patrice Bailey was born on March 16th in East Atlanta, Georgia. She was the eighth and final child born to Walter Haynes Jr. and/or Annalise Bailey, who provided all of their children with little to no support. The large family originally lived in a two bedroom apartment in East Atlanta; while Anna and Walter got the master bedroom to themselves, Sia and her siblings were forced to figure out their rooming situation on their own. Since Sia was the youngest, she earned a spot in the top bunk. The rest of her siblings alternated between sharing the bottom bunk and crashing on makeshift palettes on the floor. Their father, Walter Jr., was frequently in prison for assault and possession charges, and his longtime girlfriend, Annalise, was addicted to crack cocaine. Sia was five years old when she saw her mother and most of her siblings for the last time; it was then that she'd officially become a ward of the state and would begin her struggle within the foster care system.

For the next few years of her life, Nastasia would be in-and-out of multiple foster homes; by the time she started high school she'd already lived with thirteen different families. It wasn't until she turned fifteen that she found the one couple who actually wanted to see her succeed; they actually cared about her well being rather than the fat check they received every month for letting her stay there. Sia had always made good grades in school, but it was around that time that she actually began to apply herself and focus on maintaining a high GPA thanks to her foster parents. They'd even encouraged her to join a few clubs and partake in after school activities. By the time she graduated high school, Sia not only had a 3.8 cumulative GPA, but she'd also found a new passion for dance and had been accepted into multiple colleges on nearly full ride scholarships. Sia picked the school in California because she wanted to see that side of the country and, for the first time in her life, get away from a hometown that reminded her so much of her terrible past.

Sia's first two years of college went great; she managed to keep her grades up, made a bunch of new friends, and even joined a couple of organizations on campus. She was a second semester Sophomore when she pledged Sigma Gamma Rho, and a first semester Junior when she became the Vice President of Urban Couture. Although Nastasia keeps in contact with her last foster parents, she currently does not have any desire to go back for a visit. She plans to get a job or internship during the Summer so that she can afford an apartment and live in California for the rest of her schooling.

• Obsessed with protection and safety due to her father being a cop and having grown up in NYC. Always has something to protect herself with on her and triple checks all the locks on doors and windows before going to bed.
• Despite a past stint of being a heavy drinker, since cutting back she has become a serious lightweight. Two to three beers and she is drunk. Six? If she isn’t already passed out, prepare for her to be soon.
• If she is wearing a bracelet or necklace she will fiddle with it when nervous or thinking, if she isn’t she plays with a strand of hair instead.
• She has a large collection of books, her bookshelf stuffed full and even more books stacked around her room. Often can be found reading one of these many books, books that are anywhere from classics like Shakespeare or Poe to the more modern ones like JK Rowling.

Madeline’s biggest fear is losing her father to his job. He is the only family she has left after they lost her mother that very way, she couldn't bare to lose him.

// HISTORY //

Madeline was born to two loving parents and police officers by the names Jonathan and Lauren Mills. The two had met while working for the NYPD and well the rest is history. For the first five years of her life her parents made sure she was never without one of them. The two not wanting to have one of them missing from the beginning years of her life. It was hard to get their shifts to work out well enough for that to work but the parents did it. Once she began to go to school full-time though Madeline’s parents were okay with letting a babysitter pick her up from school and watch her until dinner. As long as one of them came home for dinner and was there until she fell asleep in which another sitter would take over. Her parent’s made sure she knew she was important to them and loved. Even when sometimes they had to miss dinner, Madeline never minded as she grew up, she knew her parents jobs were important and that whatever they were doing meant more in the long run than a dinner.

This routine continued even past when she could watch herself, she would just get a ride home instead and no babysitter would be needed. Everything changed though her sophomore year of high school. Her father was off that day and the two were enjoying a movie marathon on the rainy Saturday. It was a great day until the knock on the door came. Her father answered it letting the Chief of Police who sat in front of the two at the kitchen table. The news was broken to them that her mother was killed in the line of duty and it changed things for the two forever.

Her father grew distant and threw himself into his work after the funeral and she went down the path of partying every weekend. It wasn't until midway through summer between her junior and senior year when he had to arrest his own daughter for not only underage drinking but also starting a fight that the two began to mend their relationship. It helped that the reason Madeline started the fight was for watching a guy slip something into a drink then give it to an unknowing girl. She had grabbed the drink from the girl’s hand, dumped it on the guy, then punched him in the nose. Her father was actually proud and charges were dropped as they found the drug in the guy’s pocket so he was given a deal. Although the guy still got charged by the girl who was informed of the drug in her drink.

From the event forward Madeline’s dad and her grew closer. Madeline giving up drinking altogether for the rest of high school and her father taking it upon himself to teach her self-defense as well as teaching her how to shoot a gun, use pepper spray, and use a taser effectively. The two started back up an old tradition from her childhood of going to the zoo every weekend as she still had a love for the animals. It was this tradition that drove her to pursue her current study. When it came time to choose a college, she chose to travel across the country to get away from the bad memories and get a bit of a new start with the support of her father. It helped the CCU had an amazing Pre-Vet program as well as an amazing Veterinary program for when she finished her first four years.

Since the two can’t continue their tradition of going to the zoo anymore now as they are separated by the whole country practically, Madeline and her father make sure they talk on the phone or facetime once a week or at least once every two weeks when things get busy.
