"Tch!"

Of course it wouldn't be that easy. The mangas and animes she's seen makes it look so easy to slice apart things with speed. She'd have to beef up her strength just to achieve that like that pink ronin who could slice apart a statue with a blunt blade. How could he achieve such a thing with technique alone?

Technique?

"This is why you don't minmax, basic stupid catgirl!"

Ari had not slowed down even as her attack didnt break through the banner, speeding past as she retracted her blade. Now that Lugh was rushing towards the banner statue, she hissed in air as she pivoted, bringing the sickle's blade around in a deadly crescent, trying to keep the other statues from approaching her, but mostly aiming towards the banner statue's legs.

"I've no idea what that myeans!"

Technique. That's what she was missing. Breathing forms or a style. Being a castle toppler like Lugh would only temporarily solve her problem. Surely if she had some fighting forms like that pink samurai, or the kid with an oni sister, she could cut through even steel.

Even if she were to fall now, at least she will leave with that knowledge.

Raymond managed to arrive at the train station in just under ten minutes, a new personal record if he bothered to record it, but irrelevant to the task at hand. Though, he was quite glad that it was off-season and the station hadn't as many tourists or visitors arriving or leaving the town. Made maneuvering through the alleys and sidestreets far easier and there were fewer people that would have known his screw-up. It didn't take an expert psychologist to know that Raymond was nervous about seeing his significant other that he accidentally wronged, but he was determined to make things right...or at least as of right as an apology, flowers, and sweets could. Hopefully, that would be enough.

He really didn't want to do the puppy eyes in public.

But, if worse comes to worst, he wouldn't hold back. He knew that Charlie couldn't stay mad at him while making a fool of himself. It was a tried and tested maneuver whenever she was sad or upset...but what if doesn't work this time around? A dozen 'what if' questions popped up inside his head. He began thinking about it in a similar manner to a logistical problem in the kitchen. Attempting to find efficient workarounds and making the best of a situation.

In the process, he hadn't realized that he had stopped in his tracks while making his way through the station to the waiting area. His mind working hard in its attempts to produce a proper course of action if the whole 'act like a dumbass' didn't do the job well enough. This hadn't gone unnoticed by the passerbys, giving the man looks. Varying from looks of open confusion to slightly amused ones.

That is until a flick to the forehead brought Raymond back to reality.

There stood before him was none other than Charlotte with a bemused smirk on her face.

His mind went blank as he didn't account for her interacting with him first. "Uhh...I-I got you some stuff." He says as he holds up the peace offerings.

Well, fuck it. If the dude was gonna be a dick about things, Mags would just not care about forfeiting her life to possible PK. If it was some sort of tabletop RPG, she'd have to roll some substat or something for being intimidated. This wasn't a tabletop RPG. This was another person trying to intimidate another person in a world where pain was dulled for all except morons and death just meant you lost some time. Even if she was technically a noob by the standards of everyone else, she still had her ego. She wasn't about to let some random walk all over her.

"Yea, like I said, we meandered in." Mags said, still technically being right about it. "Don't know where they are. Maybe we're just too much of fuckin' noobs to see them." A steep bitterness came out with the delivery. Still, she was telling the truth. Mags wasn't actually following where they went. She was too busy relishing in how fucking cool Rashasta was. "Try being less of an ass? Probably help you find what you're looking for." Again, a third truth.

If shit went south, Mags would die as she lived: being a gremlin.

HP:865/950 MP:1075/1150 SP: 130/130

Ah, yes. Patches. Real trustworthy name. Thankfully, they couldn't exactly kill each other while in the same party, and dropping party immediately would at least tip Amulak off and give him enough time to react.

Though currently, that point was moot. Trash mobs. Great. Literally only a hundred meters to the exit, and they get stuck with a massive wave of these fucks. Even with AoE spells, there were so many that he doubted either he or Patches had enough juice to take them all out in a stand-up fight. Of course, the passage ahead being sealed now seriously didn't help.

...Fuck it. They were steps away from the goal. And it didn't matter what condition they made it in, so long as they got there. Amulak grit his teeth, adjusting his grip on Raime's corpse with one hand while raising his staff in the other.

"Very close to end. Get cocksucker ghosts off us, clear blockade after. We go big dick, yes? I gather them up. You knock them down." He said, conjuring a Magical Mine at the base of the rubble blocking the way before starting a ten-word chant as he prepared an Arcane Vortex. A Mana Control boosted the magical storm as he aimed it at the center of the largest concentration of mobs he saw. Of course, he had a Plan B, but hopefully he wouldn't need to enact it. Hopefully.

Ah shit, they were followed? While Ames thought the jig was up and they may as well admit that they were invited there and tell these guys to piss off and get their own invitation, Magpie went on with their half-assed "wandered in" explanation. It was no longer really a lie meant to deceive the party of strangers, instead it was one to defy them. These dudes turned out to be rude anyway, so Ames felt she didn't want to tell them anything twice as hard. She knew Mags wouldn't be scared by the guy, but Ames glared at him all the same for even trying. That was her friend after all. Or as close as one could get over sharing memes, playing games, and arguing over discord.

In her peripheral, Ames caught another of the group's movement. She turned in time to see the man's face transforming, nose elongating into what seemed to be a muzzle. The significance of this was, at first, lost on Ames.

"What the fuck," she blurted out, staring at the man. Considering she wasn't being crowded by the hammer-wielder since his attention was on Mags, Ames walked right over to the shape shifter, doing some crowding of her own. Perhaps the double hit she took from Rashasta's pipe lingered in her mouth, and when she next spoke so close to the man it's smell would overwhelm his nose - or maybe it would even help them track the oni tribe. She didn't consider either of those options when she said, "That's crazy! How did you unlock the furry stuff??"

She thought Lew might appreciate this knowledge in some abstract way. That guy was an enigma at times. It was only after studying the stranger with the sword up close that it clicked in Ames' head that he could be (and most definitely was) using his new sniffer to try and track the tribe. If they decided to just go after the oni, there really wasn't much Ames or Mags could do to stop them, considering they were outnumbered at the very least. All they could really do from Ames' perspective was distract them enough to give the tribe a sizable head start. Judging from the speed in which they packed everything up and made off, she hoped they already had one.

"She's right, y'all could stand to be nicer," Ames said, crossing her arms and glaring at the dog-shifter in front of her and the hammer wielder nearby. "We don't know anything about onis. Maybe bullying other newbies worked out for you so far, but it won't work with us."

Klein

HP 400/400 SP 300/300 MP 0/0

It took Klein quite a while to find the cursed tree, especially when all trees look just the same. But, after five minutes of playing the game of "is this you?", Klein was able to locate the cursed tree. It is honestly much shorter compared to the previous one, and it felt like it could be uprooted just by a strong wind. Still, judging from the way it lures him in, shouldn't this one is more dangerous?

"Look. I'm here to test out a theory. What would happen if I introduce something un-natural to this land? Something that should never exist from the local fauna?" Unarmed and determined to stay that way, Klein attempted to give a shot at diplomacy as he slowly approached the cursed tree ahead.

"So. To test my theory out, I'm currently trying to test it out on your species. I understand that it would provide no immediate benefit to you..." Klein gestured at the size of the tree. It's too large for Klein to transport it without damaging the branch and roots through the journey. "But it would provide huge benefits for your 'children'. Just think about it."

If he was able to push through the tsunami of bronze at his wake, Ari would too see it. The misshapen, angered face of a scorned nerd, one that Lew had never sported before. And as he reached the standard-bearer, if he reached the standard-bearer, he would raise his shield in the air, lightning crackling as it instantaneously shifted into a blade once more, before swinging it down, screaming to the top of his lungs something... different from the incantation he had normally bellowed out.

But only if.

If it had only been one bronze guard, Lugh could have fought them to a stalemate, perhaps even come out on top. If it had only been four bronze guards, Lugh could have survived their attacks, broken through their efforts, and unleashed a blow that contained the entirety of his soul. If it had only been eight bronze guards, perhaps he could have lived even a couple seconds longer, could have blocked the torrent of violence that descended upon him, could have regained enough SP to unleash another skill. These were all hypotheticals though, only parallel presents, ones that Lugh would not have encountered otherwise.

For there were twelve guards, four of which had just awoken from their slumber. Upon witnessing the herculean efforts of the thunderclad warrior, they rushed to intercept, easily reading Lugh’s intent. His charge was stalled mere meters away from his goal, and then, just like that, the eight he managed to break out of caught up as well, driving their swords into his body. Even at 20%, even with more than one hundred END, the pain was agonizing, foreign objects impaling his virtual body at every angle, before being torn out and stabbed into other parts. Unable to move from the sheer mass of bodies pinning him down, Lugh’s superhuman body could not, for once, respond as his mind imagined it. All that surrounded him was pain, a pain that he could not thwart or mitigate by any means.

His body burst into a myriad of pixels, joining the glittering crystals above.

《𝔻𝔼𝕊𝕋ℝ𝕌ℂ𝕋𝔼𝔻 𝕎𝕆ℝ𝕃𝔻 𝔻𝔼𝕊𝕋𝔸𝔹𝕀𝕃𝕀ℤ𝔼𝔻》
《𝕋𝕀𝕄𝔼 𝕆𝔽 ℝ𝔼𝕊𝕌ℝℝ𝔼ℂ𝕋𝕀𝕆ℕ》
《𝟚𝟜:𝟘𝟘:𝟘𝟘》

@Cu Chulainn

As the warrior fell, his Resources graying out in the corner of Ari’s vision, the catgirl made one more attempt, sickle slicing through the air and striking the standard-bearer’s legs. It was swift, it was accurate, but, just as she had discovered by herself, it was lacking. Maybe it was technique. Maybe it was the quality of her weapon. Maybe it was her lack of strength. Maybe it was the sheer difference in their levels. For all it left was another hairline scratch. And all she had accomplished was to encourage the standard-bearer to raise their banner skywards once more, concentric rings of energy echoing out brightly, brilliantly.

Now, there were sixteen bronze guards, twelve of which had bloodied themselves with Lugh’s dying struggles, four of which glowed pristinely in the firelight of the standard-bearer. And how many more could this standard-bearer alone awaken, in this city of thousands?

There was a decision to be made here.

Trade her life away for the possibility of acquiring more information, or risk her life for the possibility of escape. Before her, the palace holding the ruler of this silent city stood. Behind her, the hole in the wall remained, sewer water falling torrentially into darker depths.
@GreenGoat

Though Ames’s approach had surprised the shapeshifting swordsman, his eyes widened as he drew in a quick sniff. Rather than being disgusted by the warrior’s bad breath though, he almost seemed impressed. His eyes flickered over to Ames’s equipment, and then swung his hand out, so fast that Ames’s eyes couldn’t track the movement. Finally, he let out a whistle. “Damn, this is just Shaman stuff, but like, seriously? I want to know how the hell you’ve managed to grab Soul Burner Animist as like, what, your first class?” He leaned in once more, sniffing her mouth. “Yup, that’s definitely the sorta mixture you’d only make out of a high ranking crafting class. Seriously how…oh.”

Ames had changed gears pretty quickly after his initial enthusiasm, after all, and the dogman looked off to the hammer-wielder, right as things were getting heated up real bad. “Eh…he’s usually not like that. ‘m sure Drokko’ll simmer him down though. Maybe?”

Droko did not simmer him down. Not before he could totally flip out, at least.

“Yeah, well maybe you fuckin’ are!” The man snarled, before his hand snapped out to grasp Magpie by the collar and raise her up off her feet. With his other hand, he dropped his hammer to the ground, the heft of it fracturing the ground in preparation for the uppercut of the century. “Listen up, ya shitfuckin’ cocksucker, I’ll be real fucking generous and give you a count to three before I turn you to paste on the ceiling, yeah? Now where t-”

A quiet cough sounded, as the mage of the party placed a hand on the vanguard’s shoulder. “Bortz, drop it. Please?”

“Well why the fuck should I?”

“If they’re covering for the onis’ escape, then they’ll be doing a pretty good job just stalling you through conversation,” she said, her voice dark and smooth. “If they honestly don’t know, then this is a real bad look for you.”

“Oh shit,” the firestepper chimed, a shit-eating grin on his face. “Angry snowflake destroyed by facts and logic?”

“Whatever. And fuck you too, Vator! Fuckin’ simp,” Bortz growled, then dropped Magpie on the ground. He spat off to the side, and hefted his hammer up onto his shoulder again and storming away.

“Sorry ‘bout that,” the bear cloak woman said. “He’s working on fulfilling a class that requires a buncha oni kills, so we’ve been doing this den-hunting thing for the last…twenty hours or so? No luck though, and following you two was our best lead yet.”

While the tattooed woman did damage control, Bortz had turned his attention back to the shapeshifter. “Oi, Mich! Stop flirtin’ and get back to trackin’!”

The shapeshifter’s attention bounced from him and back to Ames. “Well, you two should probably leave now, before he gets triggered again. Dunno what’s up with you two and the onis, but hey, wouldn’t be the first monster-lover ‘round these parts.” He sucked in a breath, bared his teeth, and barked out, “Yeah, yeah, just gimme a minute!”
@OwO@Yankee

Patches licked his lips, before dropping his own grasp on his corpse-sled, kicking it to the back of the blockade. Letting out a breath, the ephemeral youth’s body began to glow a foreboding red, his veins blackening underneath his pale skin while the stitches around his arms began to bleed. They dripped upon his chopper and ignited into purple flame.

“Alright, boss, let’s fuckin’ go.”

Positioned behind and granted better vision now that Patches’s crude weapon shone light in every direction, Amulak’s own magical energies began to circulate through his veins with ever increasing speed. At the apex of the inner storm, he thrust out with the Bonerattler’s staff, unleashing a maelstrom of metaphysical power that enveloped the entirety of the tunnel in neon-blue energies. Like waves, they slammed the collective of hungering ghosts, drawing them to the center as they wailed and tried to claw themselves out of the tides.

The first of the ghosts to escape the storm’s pull was cleaved in half, Patches leaping to join the carnage with wild abandon. The chopper burned with ever-brighter intensity as more of the ghosts fell, until the entire tunnel was lit up with malevolent purples and eye-scorching blues. But there were still so many, enough so that after a few seconds, the Arcane Vortex had been clogged with so many bodies that it was no longer possible for any more to be drawn into its center.

Three of the ghosts slipped around the blur of motion that Patches had become, hurtling towards Amulak with their leech-like mouths opened up, eager for a bite of the mage, while two more aimed for the corpse that Patches had maneuvered away from the bulk of the fighting, desiring an easier, if less fresh, meal.
@Psyker Landshark

As Klein continued to talk, there was a litany of ‘oh’ and ‘eh’ and ‘uhuh’ sounds coming from the young tree, all in that same childish tone, like a kid who was only pretending to listen. Maybe his latest obsession was a bit boring after all? Or maybe simple-minded creatures such as carnivorous trees really just didn’t care all that much? At the very least, the mountain man’s latest grand plan preoccupied him enough that the Thunderstruck Grove no longer looked very scary.

It was a bit weird, really, to even negotiate with a monster belonging to the same family as one that had just tried to eat him whole…but hey, all for the sake of science!

Maybe it was too convenient though, because right as he finished speaking, his right foot snagged on something, and Klein was flipped upside down, a corded vine wrapping tight around his ankle before pulling him five meters up into the air. Vision swimming from the sudden disorientation, the mountain man could only just make out tens of dozens of small pinpricks of light emerging from the branches of that young tree.

“Wow, that actually worked!” “Yeah!” “Great success!” “Huzzah!” “Do people really think trees talk?” “Dunno, but woo!” “Let’s try that again!” “After this though.” “Definitely beats berries!” “Hear hear!” “Alright, on my mark!” “No, mine!” “Ugh, does it even matter?” “Of course it does! Unity is the bedrock of good civilization!” “Now everyone, get in here!” “Fire!”

And just like that, Klein’s body was pierced by forty-seven tiny needles, doing a grand total of zero damage to him!

“Keep at it, comrades!” “Yeah yeah!” “Fire fire fiyaaaaa!”

Charlotte’s eyes travelled from the bouquet and chocolates, then to Raime’s face.

“What, no hugs and kisses?”

And that’s exactly what she did, embracing him tightly as she tiptoed up to bite his lower lip. The bouquet was crushed between their bodies and the box of chocolates dug into his ribs, but these sensations, this pain, had a pleasant warmth that didn’t exist, couldn’t exist, in Cacophony Concord. Yup, he definitely wasn’t in a simulation.

Breaking off forcefully, the dark-haired woman smirked again, sliding her luggage in front of Raime while taking the ruffled bouquet out of his hands, “So, I know you're an hour late, but you didn’t forget to make those reservations to the play tonight, right?”

Did he? Was that something else he forgot? Or was it something that was never a thing, and Charlotte was joking again?

Almost as soon as Lugh went down, Ari turned tails immediately.

She had neither skill, technique, nor strength to take them now currently, and she had no interest in going to the void again. Well she got further than she did last time, so that was something to be excited about. Perhaps she could take all the bronze stuff later on too.

But where did she have to run to?

Going back into where they came from would probably just drown her again, so the only other obvious choice was.... The palace, far from this area. Perhaps she can find somewhere to hide first too or get into it somehow, if the door was locked or barred. Going to try the door first to be safe; she had read far too much stuff where the door wasn't even locked as the protag tried to puzzle their way around it.

When picked up, Mags didn't move. Well, she did. Her entire body was lifted by her collar. However, Mags didn't even make an attempt at resisting it. Instead, she locked up her body with her arms crossed. She mimicked an unanimated model as she was held and threatened. She didn't really react to him besides giving him some narrowed disinterest. If she got pasted on a ceiling, she'd just play another game or some shit.

She was dropped to the ground no worse for wear, still refusing to move her body in any meaningful way.

But twenty hours? Just twenty grinding mobs? And he was this salty? What kind of gamers were these?

"Did he just sniff your mouth?" She asked Ames in an aside. Gross. Who did that? Even if it was a virtual game, that was pretty much on par with "/em sniffs your hair." Man, who were these digital weirdos, Mags thought to herself as she called the kettle black.

Still, at least the shapeshifter and tattooed woman seemed to be nice people.

"Well, good luck with your daycare service. God knows you'll need it." She told him.

Mags didn't really care about asking to join them in hunting down oni. Not out of reverence from beer guts and beefy arms, though. More that she just didn't feel like associating people who got salted after only 20 hours of grinding. That was baby shit.

God damn, but there were just too many. He hadn't cast Arcane Vortex that many times during his previous grind, but from what experience he did have with it, it had never been this utterly clogged with bodies before. There were clearly more than either he or Patches had thought. On one hand, they'd probably come out with a metric ton of experience points from this fight. On the other hand, at the rate this was going, they might actually just be swarmed in bodies and taken down despite the amount of AoE they were packing.

And to make matters worse, five of the bastards had actually managed to juke Patches and come for both Amulak and Patches's body. Well, shit. At least he had an answer for this. A crappy and wasteful one, but at this range, he didn't have the time to chant ten words for an Arcane Vortex.

Six words later, five Seeker Chains shot out from Amulak's staff, three binding around the ghosts that were rushing the mage himself while the other two aimed to lock down the ones going for the fresh body.

"Ghosts are slipping through, trusty Patches!" Amulak yelled over the commotion of the battle, hoping his Arcane Vortex would hold long enough for him to start casting another one. "I do not have enough juice to both AoE and lock down stragglers! Now would be very good time to cleave harder!"

Ames was wont to bounce around from thing to thing, idea to idea, and she was torn between the lax behavior of the dog-man, his sniffing around in her space, and the sudden escalation with the hammer guy and Mags. Even with the rest of the guy's party members doing nothing hostile, Ames still tensed - ready to jump in and fight with her friend if need be. It didn't come to that however, the more level headed of the strangers convincing him to back off.

While the situation was deescalating, Ames let out a sigh. Somehow the tension of not knowing whether she'd be getting into a battle or not was more stressful than the fighting itself... and that was like the third time today of it. She shot a glare towards Magpie after the other girl's comment, silently telling her not to mention it. 'Cause yeah that was pretty weird, but the shifter was, well, dog-like now - and Ames did approach him first, so she couldn't exactly be upset with him about it.

With discussion over, the party made to leave. Ames crossed her arms over her chest, taking a little offense at the shifter's (named Mich, apparently) assumption.

"We're not...! Augh, whatever," she sighed. "But yeah, you're right, we should get out of here. Thanks. Oh - " Ames brought up the game's menus, sending Mich a friend request on a whim. They seemed like a competent party, even including the quick tempered hammer wielder. The red head nodded at the group as they left, and let out an even bigger sigh once she and Mags were alone again in the upended chamber.

"Jeez... hope they escaped," she said, walking back over the Magpie. "The dog guy... he said something about unlocking a class? Do you think we somehow completed some pre-reqs?"

Speaking of classes, she'd learned that trans-morphing your face into a dog's was "basic Shaman stuff." Once again Ames brought up the UI, looking to send a quick message to Lew along the lines of "hey you might want to look into becoming a Shaman!" only to see that Lew was currently dead. And he wasn't the only one.

"What the - Lew and Raime are dead! Why does this keep happening?" Seriously, when would they all learn to just stick together?!

Klein

HP 400/400 SP 300/300 MP 0/0

This was the first time that Klein ever see damage being negate due to END stats. Just to make sure he wasn't missing anything, Klein quickly ramped up the sensitivity. At 10%, he felt nothing. At 50%, if it wasn't because of the roots and the winds accompanied by each swing Klein would not have been able to tell he was being attacked. Only at 75% does he felt something, like his body hair being moved by a cold night breeze.

This only put more excitement into Klein, as he quickly chops the few roots that are hanging him in the air and landed right in front of the haunted tree. Now that he knew this tree is so quick, Klein intended to uproot the tree from the ground, something that he wasn't able to accomplish in his previous trial. He grabs the most prominent root of the tree and just starts dragging the tree toward the Goblin Burrow. To his surprise, there wasn't much resistance. Even if there is any resistance, Klein doubts if it could really stop him in his track.

So, with a living tree behind his back, Klein headed for the Goldspurn Field, eager to see what would happen when this tree take roots at the place.

If there was one thing that Lugh’s bombastic final charge had done, it was to create an opening for which Ari to escape. In the moment that all the bronze guards had their attentions focused solely on stabbing him to death, the catgirl made her escape, slipping into the spaces between buildings as swiftly as a sudden breeze. Moments later, she could hear bronze against stone all around, but by then, she had already made good her disappearance. For a battle, a troupe of twelve bronze guards would have made a mess of her, but for a search? The underground city was large, and their numbers, superhumanly fast as they were, were small. It was with only the occasional heart attack induced by a shadow flying overhead that Ari picked her way through the more shaded areas of the city, her Resources regenerating until she was maxed out once more, as healthy and as fit as when she first arrived.

So gradually, she left the chaos and the site of Lugh’s demise behind, forging onwards to the palace on the far side of the city. The walls were the same size as before, and no new guards were lined up nearby, the chaos that was caused by Ari’s home invasion having affected nothing in these surroundings. Once again, two inanimate statues stood at either side of the gate leading to the palace’s inner courtyards, their polearms glimmering bright in the star-studded stalactites’ cold light. Rings hung from the center of the gate at Ari’s eye height, and the statues did not move even as she approached. Up close, the gate and the walls were even more daunting than before. Though Ari had plenty of ways to scale a five meter height, her real life common sense still rebelled against the notion of having superhuman capabilities.

It was tall, and whatever was immediately on the other side could not be seen until she scrambled over it.

As she grasped the rings to pull open the gate, however, a voice sounded to her left.

“Of your trespass, and your resistance, one has observed thusly.”

Another voice, as firm as the first, sounded to her right.

“Of your inadequacies, and your audacity, one has acknowledged thusly.”

The polearms fell, stopping inches from Ari’s wrists to form a criss-cross pattern, as the once-inanimate guards turned their blazing gaze onto the explorer. Together, their voices rang out.

“Of the Tomb of the Sunblessed Emperor, you seek to tread. Will your motives be drawn through your mouth, or your skull?”
@GreenGoat

Moving at speeds greater than his own, Amulak’s chains whipped outwards in a frenzy towards the leech-mouthed Gakis. Though mere tendrils of mana at first, they rapidly gained substance as they neared, until they took the shape of iron chains. One wrapped around a ghost’s waist, slamming it into the ceiling. Another swung around a monster’s upper arm, then hurled into Patches’s blender. A third punched into the leech-mouth of the starving creature, while a fourth practically mummified the creature it bound. But the fifth only managed to snag the Gaki by the ankle, and before the monster could be slammed into a wall or bound more securely, the monster bent over and tore off its own foot with its jaws. It was a ghost, after all. Even without feet, it could fly.

And with a screeching cry, it slammed its emaciated body against Amulak’s, the force enough to stagger, but not knock the mage back. Nails dug onto the plates of his armor to secure its place, while the leech-mouth lunged forward to tear at the mage’s face. It was a nightmarish experience, even with Amulak’s pain sensitivity set as long as it was. Rows of rotten teeth scraped over his flesh with the sensation of human nails scratching him, and though only a meager 27 points of damage was dealt to him, the sensation was fucking disgusting, and so was the sniggering laughter of the Gaki.

A laughter that was cut short moments later when the Seeker Chain that missed had returned, wrapping around its throat and pulling it off Amulak.

But the situation really was growing dire. The amount of DPS that Patches and Amulak were dealing wasn’t enough to quickly cull the swarm of monsters, and meanwhile, they were both burning their Resources at a quickening pace. No healer present meant any loss of HP they incurred was for all purposes permanent, while the unnatural form of the ghosts meant that even when cleaved in half by a pulsating cleaver or torn to bits by magical forces, they were still not fully destroyed. Even now, the ones that Amulak had bound were struggling to make their own escape, slowing tearing their bodies apart to get a taste of the mage’s flesh and blood.

“Amulak!” Patches shouted through the deluge of arcane power. “Gonna make an opening! Just bring mine with you; I’ll find you after!” Another Gaki rode the arcane waves, gnarled fingers catching the bloodied warrior on the head. “Fuck, get ready!”

Without waiting for a response, he drew an iron spike from the folds of his jacket and slammed it into his temple. It slid in effortlessly, Patches’s bright blue eyes clouding over with red as the spike pierced through flesh, bone, and then into the brain. He stalled, for just a moment, and the Gaki descended upon him, teeth eagerly digging into his pale flesh.

Pale flesh that expanded rather being torn away.

The cleaver-wielding warrior doubled in bulk, the stitches over his body more prominent than ever as he let out the guttural roar of a creation made only after trespassing upon a domain that science ought never to have done so. With one arm, he cut a swathe through the forces, four ghosts dismembered at once. With his other arm, he slammed the ground itself, a shockwave so tremendous as to blow them all back. But Amulak, a member of his own party, was not affected. Throughout the titan’s frenzied rampage, only he could pass through unscathed.

There was certainly a way for him to run back now, to pursue another path. But, considering Patches’s sudden power-up, maybe it was possible too, for them to simply clean house together?
@Psyker Landshark

“Chief, it’s not working!” “Oh shit!” “Keep at it, don’t stop!” “No, look!” “How’s he doing that?!” “Ahhh, no!” “Damnit!” “Abort, abort!” “Grab everything; we’re gliding out!” “My mom, where’s my mom?” “Woman and children first!” “Gogogo!” “Ahhhh!”

More tiny needles stuck themselves into Klein’s skin, but the volleys were erratic now, disorganized, and soon, right as he began to start uprooting the tree, all the voices disappeared. There was only a shimmering haze of light exuding from behind the tree, and by the time the mountain man uprooted the entire tree, it had grown totally silent.

Was that for better or worse?

Regardless, Klein had no further difficulty hoisting it on his back. Though it was a bit cumbersome to maneuver through the denser sections of the Thunderstruck Grove, physically he was fine. The passives afforded to him gave him more than enough tenacity to carry a whole tree with him out of the forest, after all, and as the mist curled away from him to reveal the bright blue beauty of Gala’s sky, all he had to deal with was the occasional inquiry or snicker from a passing human. Few seemed to appreciate his claims about this being a demonic tree, and his plans of planting it into a goblin’s burrow drew a mixture of disbelief and mirth.

Still, none of the guards within Nyu-Taro had stopped him from entering or exiting, accustomed as they were to the shenanigans of Immortals. So long as he wasn’t actively harming the Riens of the city-state, they wouldn’t raise a hand, it appeared. Or maybe it was simply because no one wanted to approach the tree-hugging beefcake.

Past the eastern gate, the familiar sight of the Goldspun Fields stretched once more, as well as the sight of Immortals running around, eager to do battle with the murderous goblin raid parties that wandered the expanse. They had done quite a number on him during his grinding session with the others as well, enough so that if it weren’t for his party and his Nuclei’s ability, Klein would’ve been dead more than just a couple times. He had a weapon now though, and a decent boost in his stats to boot; he should be fine now, to face a goblin party by himself?

The whistling of arrows through the air told him that such thoughts would be put to the test. From the tall brush, three Goblin archers, one of who wore a dyed headdress signaling him as the raid leader, fired at him from upon their malnourished mutts. With such shoddy weaponry, only two of the four arrows actually struck, but the pain that accompanied them, as well as the HP lost, reminded Klein that, unfortunately, he wasn’t wholly invincible.

39 HP, after all, was lost in that initial volley.

Finally, with the adrenaline from the immediate danger, it slowly faded to fear, and apprehension instead.

"Uuh.... He's gonna be angry at me later isn't he?"

It was hard to keep holding onto it, especially now that she truly feel like a ninja. Deep in enemy territory, hiding from enemy view, with the prospect of a great reward at the end of a mission. Well, she wasn't even employed, and her mission wasn't even to help any prominent daimyo or the likes, but still, the waves of excitement crested over the pit of regret and fear.

What if... she brought back something good? That should help allay any anger Lew might heap upon her later on. Certainly better than just going back empty handed.

No sense thinking too much about it now. Finally arriving at the castle, she sighed a little with relief when there seemed to be nothing here that wanted to behead her. Right when she put her hand on the door however, bronze blades swung down, stopping inches away from her wrists.

“Of the Tomb of the Sunblessed Emperor, you seek to tread. Will your motives be drawn through your mouth, or your skull?”

Her tail withered immediately as her ears drooped down. Tomb? Sunblessed Emperor? Why was there a tomb in a sewer?

"Weh!" She blurted out suddenly. Her mouth seemed a bit too dry as she tried to put out words from her jumbled thoughts. "I.. I'm here for adventure! And training! Gambling den, the gang in there, and the deed! We got lost and..."

She took a step backwards from the door.

And now I'm dead aren't I?

Yeah, no. Amulak could read the tide. If things continued the way they were, they were screwed. Still, he blinked at Patches's impromptu order and plan, observing the transformation for a brief moment.

"Oh...I get it now. You are not Patches like FromSoft game, you are Patches like Frankenstein!" He remarked offhandedly even as he squatted down, Raime's corpse tucked under one of his arms as he slung his staff up to take Patches's designated corpse up in his other arm.

"Patches, you are brave man. I will honor your sacrifice!" Amulak called out, taking full advantage of the opening he'd been given to leg it the fuck out of there, continuing to maintain his Arcane Vortex for as long as he was capable of being in range to feed MP to it. As he fled, he also took the moment to detonate the mine he'd placed next to the rocks that had blocked their path in the first place. If nothing else, it might give Patches an out.

As Amulak doubled back, he wracked his brain for the route he'd memorized as well as the rest of the map, starting to go down an alternate path that had been suggested. Hopefully, this one wouldn't have any surprises, what with the distraction going on elsewhere in the caves.

“Of humanity’s vices, we know not. But of the adventurer’s lust, we know well.”

Gradually, the polearms were lifted up once more, returning to their original position. The two guards retained their burning gaze unto Ari, but they did not seem to be aggressive any longer.

“You’ve not the merits necessary to pass through these gates. Return from whence you came. Do not plunder from the keepsakes of the Emperor’s subjects, and do not stray from the middle path, beastkin.” With the groan of steel, the statue on the right raised his hand, pointing outwards. “If you seek to make another pilgrimage though, do so with respect, tributes, and strength enough to affirm your worthiness.”

Merits? Strength? Tribute? Her ears and tail perked up immediately. Would this mean she gets to talk to the Emperor? A whole brand new story to be discovered? Well, now that she knew it was a tomb, she guessed it was kinda horrific to plunder their things. Mnngh… not very heroic of her, but there were a lot of books where they went into long dead people’s graves to get some powerful artifact or other.

“Is… is there any other way to exit this cavern other than the entrance in the waters?”

“Of exits and entrances, there should be none.” The rightside statue lowered his arm once more and their gaze shifted away from Ari. The burning gaze faded, and the two became inanimate once more.

She sighed. That means the statue didn't know either. Well, at least… at least she could escape with her life if she meted out her mp? Lucky she had this thing on her arm. Trying not to go into the city now that she knew what this place was, she tried scampering to the outskirts before turning on her nuclei again, searching for an alternate way of getting out.

The outskirts that Ari scampered to were thankfully devoid of the statue-guards, so long as she avoided anything that looked like a proper road. Up close to the walls, the murals were so gigantic that she could hardly figure out what was happening, but the catgirl wasn’t there to sightsee anyways. Drawing Xu Fu over her eyes again, she allowed her senses to be taken by the light of divination…

...and was almost blinded by a searing pillar of red within the wall, shooting up beyond even the limits of Ari’s phantom sight.

Startled by the sudden red hue, she turned it off immediately. What on earth was in these walls? Stepping back, she examined the walls closer, taking in everything she could of them. It doesn’t look much like anything else than a giant wall mural of things. Then again, there could be something hidden on the murals or on the wall itself. Perhaps a secret button or some sort of lever.

Placing her hands against the wall, Ari began to feel around it, attempting to glean any part of the stone that would give away, or any part of the carvings that looked like it could be pulled, pushed, or slid. In pursuit of her search of secrets, she even began to attempt to scale the mural, only to be halted around three meters off the ground by how smooth the stone was and the lack of carvings within easy reach. At this range, at least, Ari wasn’t able to uncover any indication of a lever or a button. What she was able to discover, however, was one meager, perhaps only tangentially interesting fact.

Between the two murals laid a point where Ari could clearly feel a ‘corner’. This wasn’t a city enclosed in a circular space. Rather, if these findings were consistent, the Tomb of the Sunblessed Emperor existed within a hexagonal space.

Her brain was going on full power, but all her jumbled thoughts could come up with was some sort of magic circle engraved with the city layout itself. Well, nothing for it, time to circle the perimeter and see what she could find. Moving briskly, she activated Xu Fu again, resting if need be to recover mp. Perhaps another section of the wall could provide illumination on what’s going on, or even an egress.

But there was none.

Perhaps the guard statue was right, and there wasn’t supposed to be any entrance nor exit to this tomb. The huge pillars of red were worrying too, all lined up perfectly where the corners were. Pillars of huge red energy, the shape of the tomb, and the fact it was made not to have any sort of exit at all. Was this place a tomb, or a prison?

In any case, she was, beyond doubt, sure that this place did not lead to the gambling den, and she should've just ripped that first grate off its bolts.

Staring back into the dark waters of where she entered the tomb, she took in a deep breath, and dived in, preparing herself for the worst as she followed the water to where it flowed. Hopefully it will just lead outside to the river.

“From Soft? What’s that?” were Patches’s final words, before Amulak ran away, Raime over his shoulder and the sled trailing behind. He was running out of appendages at this point, but thankfully, his staff could be carried with one hand. A psychic shiver shot through his mind as he ran, indications that his Seeker Chains had finally been broken free of, but he wouldn’t be around to see the effects of that. Amulak could only continue to run through the narrow tunnels, until he reached an intersection once more. Skidding to a stop on the moss-slick stone, the mage had a moment to listen.

The winds continued to wail, and sounds of violence bounced through tunnels in every which way to create a warped cacophony, but it didn’t seem as if any of those hungering ghosts had managed to follow him. Amulak, based off his memory then, had a couple of different paths to take.

The path to the right lead to a pond. Though shallow enough to tread in most portions, at the very center, there would be a thirty meter swim in pitch darkness. Monsters often wouldn’t emerge in the area, but on the off-chance they did, a fight in water would absolutely cripple a mage like Amulak.

The path to the left would spiral downwards, making it a longer detour, and one that had a higher chance of encountering monsters as well. Flaming skulls make this corridor their home, but the highest-tier speedruns of the Blasphemed Tunnels prefer this route: so long as you dodge the fireballs, you were good. With two bodies to tow though? Might be a bit more of a struggle for a newbie mage.

Hmm...now this was a conundrum. Burdened down by two bodies as he was, neither option that was available to him was particularly appealing to Amulak. A small chance of certain death, or a higher chance of having to engage while slowed down and alone?

...Actually, why the hell was he still lugging the extra around? Keeping it plus the sled in his grasp was crazy. Screw it, he’d even do Patches a favor if the big lug survived. Releasing his grasp on Patches’s friend’s corpse and the sled, Amulak quickly used his staff to draw an arrow in the direction he was heading off in next to where he’d set the sled down before making to the left, trusting that he had enough left in the tank to make it through the flaming skull tunnel.

Discarding what was essentially a free meal inside a tunnel system infested by ghostly monsters may not have been the best of ideas, at least for the corpse’s own survival, but perhaps it was what Amulak had to do to get what he wanted. So he continued on, Raime’s cold, heavy body still around his shoulders as the path began to decline and curve. Soon, the light-giving moss that had lit up the previous areas disappeared, and instead, a dim, red hue lit up the steadily-warming tunnel. Amulak began to sweat under his robes, the air itself hot and dry enough that it was almost painful. Did an Immortal body need food and water, or were such desires merely a mental state?

He could not dwell on such considerations for long, as the path he traversed upon was soon lined with human skulls.
As one, they ignited, dry teeth clacking together in raucous cheer. Four of them hovered upwards, clusters of fireballs gathered up in their mouths, while three others shot forth, homing comets intent on shattering Amulak’s ribs and legs. In the distance, the mage could see more human skulls, dormant but undoubtedly dangerous once activated. What choice did he have though?
It was time to run the gauntlet, you fucking casual.

Amulak burst into motion, Raime’s corpse tucked over his shoulder with one hand while the other gripped his staff. This was fine. He’d seen faster projectiles to dodge before. Fucking Touhou 26. If he could clear that, he could clear this.
As he ran, he chanted, precasting a Mana Shield to cover himself for the first hit. As much as he thought he could dodge, something would inevitably get through. If more than one of those skulls got too uncomfortably close to him, Seeker Chains would handle that problem. Hopefully, he had enough mana and good enough reflexes to make it to the end before completely running out of juice and healing potions.

Touhou 26 was indeed bullshit, even though ZUN’s art remained the same level of quality it’s always been, but a bullet hell, built upon massive patterns of energy pellets, was a completely different beast from a squad of flaming skulls intent on focusing all their fire at Amulak. The first couple moments were easy enough for the mage to dance around, the charging skulls missing their attacks as they shot past the decently mobile mage. He may have been encumbered by a dead body, but his pro gamer reactions had been dulled only by his body, rather than his mind, and with a superhuman set of limbs at his command? Amulak was untouchable.
But only up to a certain point.

The tunnel grew narrower gradually, and the attacks of the charging skulls and the flame-spewing skulls became more coordinated as they acclimated to his movement patterns. Some would lunge forward, feinting to cause momentary hesitation, while others would bombard the area in front of him to hide the presence of yet more monsters behind the fiery veil. Taking damage was unavoidable, Amulak’s Mana Shield constantly burning away as more and more blows landed. It was like being cooked in a sauna, like being bludgeoned by softballs, and even as his Seeker Chains restrained the skulls that flung themselves at him, that just caused them to switch to ranged attacks, intensifying the sheer number of projectiles that headed his way. They continued to scorch his boneplate, continued to stall his movement, and through it all, Amulak still had to use his own weapons and his own body to ensure that Raime’s corpse wasn’t destroyed in the process of going through this gauntlet.

But the end was near, and for all the attacks he had sustained, Amulak’s rare armor and decent defensive attributes meant that wasn’t dead. The spiraling tunnel grew tighter and tighter, until the skulls themselves couldn’t shoot their flames without being blocked by each other.

And then, the spiral became a vertical drop.

Amulak fell into the darkness, but rather than a bone-crunching impact, he struck slimy, black water instead. Rising out of the muck, water dripping from his dark cloak, he would find himself in a tunnel lit up by indecipherable sigils carved into stone bricks, with only a fraction of his resources remaining. And, merely another fifty meters away, he could see the ever-present mist of the Thunderstruck Grove, seeping down into the end of the Blasphemed Tunnels.

“Haah...haah…” Amulak gasped for breath, his blood pumping in his veins after that ridiculous hell run. Holy shit, how did people pull that off at even lower levels than he was? Being dragged down lugging and protecting a corpse didn’t help, but he wasn’t going to use that as an excuse.

But he’d survived, and now there was a literal light at the end of the tunnel. Rising out of the water, the aspiring necromancer winced deeply to see that he was holding on to life by mere inches, his HP having reached double digit values. Fortunately, this was why he had healing potions. Even if he didn’t need to survive getting hit by the lightning bolt, he still had to get there in the first place. While there wasn’t anything he’d actually read about any last surprises after the gauntlet, that didn’t mean there couldn’t be, considering the unexpected ghosts that had blocked off him and Patches in the first place.
Chugging down both of his potions in quick succession, Amulak braced himself for the final leg of the journey and hauled Raime’s corpse back up, starting to trudge towards the exit of the Blasphemed Tunnels.

Step by step, Amulak drew closer to the end of the Tunnels. The mist grew thicker, the atmosphere electric. Fatigue should have clung to his body, but the pull of the end was too great, and the mage almost felt as if he were floating through. His ears began to ring, drowning out all other sound. The mist was impenetrable.

And then, the mist disappeared parted.

A black tree stood, bark scarred by countless bolts of lightning. Like the hand of a demon god, it burst out from the bedrock of the tunnel, reaching out to claw the clouds out of the sky. And yet, it could no longer grow. A mound of ash had settled around it, and its peak could not yet surpass the crevasse that it was stuck in. Countless rusted spikes were driving into its wretched form, crude in construction and glistening with fossilized resin. Amulak could feel his heart rate increase as he witnessed this deathly tree. Was it fear? Awe? Or merely anticipation? Whatever feelings stirred his heart, he could not deny the gravitas of the Ancient Blackened Tree.

Raime was discarded upon the ashen mounds, and slowly, with the spikes as handholds and footholds, Amulak began to climb, rising to a heaven he would never reach. The black bark was warm underneath his touch, and the rumbling of thunder shook his organs with their depth. Time passed. It must have passed. But the sensations of his body were distant. He reached up, hand over hand, until those hands grasped only air.

At the top of the tree, Amulak looked skywards.

And in that moment, he was filled with light.

Ten thousand volts of sheer, unrestrained power burst into his veins, searing flesh and boiling blood as agony, true agony, branded itself into his very mind. What mercy could a mere charm bring in comparison to the wrath of the heavens? What meager fortitude could he bring to muster against such an earth-shattering might?! His very eyes were marked, marked by the serpent’s afterimage that leapt from the clouds into his body, into his very being! The spreading roots of the nervous system, the might of mind and soul torn away by mere impulse! That was the essence of life, was it not? The taboo knowledge that infected the minds of so many, that drew humans into depravity! What difference was there, between men and monsters? There were none! They were all lightning incarnate, birthed from the first burst of light upon a barren wasteland.

It was neither brain, nor heart, nor mind, nor soul that commanded flesh. It was the nervous system, the gossamer threads that plucked at the mortal shell, granting the motion that the unenlightened defined as ‘life’.

That was the epiphany that struck Amulak and he fell back to the base of the blackened tree, flakes of carbonized skin peeling off to add to the ash there.

From the molting of his body, though, something else crawled out, horrifying yet...endearing.

For a moment, Amulak could only take in shuddering breaths, trying to think through the pain he’d just suffered. After that moment, though, he’d realized what had just happened.

A roar erupted across the grove.

There may have been many thoughts going through Ari's head as she dove into the waters again. Or perhaps, there were no thoughts at all, and for all the terror of a dive into the unknown, she was perfectly at peace. No matter her thoughts, however, the end of her journey was punctuated by a splat.

The gaps between the rocks at the bottom of the fall, though large enough to let water flow further into the aquifer that Nyu-Taro's residents would purify and then draw from, were unfortunately not large enough to accommodate a petite catgirl. Thus, with a split-open skull and a broken body, Ari died her second death, and inadvertently stood up the vendor that had been so kind as to start a tab for her.
@GreenGoat

Klein had both levels and a Nuclei, but overconfidence was still the insidious killer that it had always been. His previous encounters with the goblins had been in a group, with both Amulak and Raime providing the ranged attacks necessary to take down the wolves, while everyone else worked in the frontline to spread the damage out. Here though? His intimidating posture and the small tree that he dragged around with him only worked to his disadvantage: there was no way that the goblins were ever going to engage him in close combat.

And so, as mounted archers peppered him with arrows while maintaining an ideal distance utilizing the speed of the wolves, Klein came to the realization that a tank without a backline or potent movement options was really just a sitting duck. Death came soon after, and the goblins ate well that night.
@Shovel

And then, there were three.

But what a perfect three they were. Two frontliners, one who had a Nuclei that made them impossible to budge, and a high-level backliner who was now motivated to max his level as soon as possible. Their rampage through the Thunderstruck Grove, whilst not legendary, was still impressive for such a small party. Banishing ghosts with fists and magic, smashing abominations with justice and avarice, dueling giants with sword and sorcery, the trio of Ames, Amulak, and Magpie grew steadily stronger, racking up loot and EXP as they ventured through the mist-veiled forest. With the mage's crowd control capabilities, Ames was easily able to crush to bloody bits what forest critters there were, racking up a nice body count of different species of rodents, and Amulak's Seeker Chains could even be used to hold the warrior down in a puddle of stagnant water to fulfill the 300 second requirement that Ames was working towards.

The usage of his ankle bells as weapons wasn't all too difficult either, even if more than a few of the bells were dented due to his reckless kicking, and if nothing else, it seemed to have worked out...

...at least until the exhausted party returned to Nyu-Taro's Keystone to check out the requirements, and Ames found out that he hadn't fulfilled any spellcasting requirements at all. Perhaps instruments didn't register as spellcasting implements when one wasn't a bard? It was an oversight, maybe, on the part of the warrior, but on the plus side? For some reason, the 'Die' requirement of the Animist class was filled up! That, of course, made Ames's plans of killing themselves a bit more questionable, but since they were all planning to log-off for the day anyways, a 24 hour timer on logging back in probably wasn't too bad.

And thus, Ames sought his death, hoping that self-murder still counted for the Kegare's murder requirement.

It didn't.
@Psyker Landshark@Yankee@OwO

Another day, another grind. Mondays were dreaded, regardless of where one lived, but time marched on into oblivion, and it was the small moments of happiness that got one up. A morning run through a nearby park. Coffee brewed by a lover you hadn't seen for some time. Opportunities to meet up with classmates who may be friends or something more. The promise of rising stocks, of a stronger portfolio. An hour or two of peace, as siblings file out of the house. A social media feed that contained new articles curated to your own interest. Perhaps a new serialization, or a morning talk show. Obligations woke one up and got one out of bed, but it was the small things that kept one moving through the day.

And once the day's humdrum settled down, once dinner was made and eaten, it was nice to recline and relax. Time dilation virtual reality, though harassed by niche researchers as harmful to the 'youth' of the brain, had the pleasant side-effect of lengthening one's leisure time, no matter how many real hours they've put into their work. Friends were pinging friends, and last-minute bathroom breaks were made so accidents didn't need to happen afterwards. FDDs were booted up, the familiar instructions were read out in surround sound, the loading screen began to hum, and you...

...became someone else.

There was a strange buzz at the Keystone Plaza in Nyu-Taro, one that could be sensed immediately as the Immortals manifested. It had been one week since the Rinshan Annihilation Tournament, long enough now that everyone in Horogi knew of the power of the Flamebringer Princess. While the majority of low-leveled players within Nyu-taro had little grasp on the politics of the situation, that didn't mean that they weren't influenced by it. Ryoku-Jo, the clan whom the Flamebringer Princess was affiliated with, could sit pretty, after all, but the Tato-Ie, closest neighboring clan to the Ryoku-Jo and one whom was constantly at odds with the clan they had once split off from was feeling the pressure as a result; none of their Immortals were even in the Top 16, and though dueling ability wasn't the only demonstration of strength, it was significant nonetheless. In a grab for power then, a declaration was made.

The Tato-Ie will invade the Mora-Sho in one week's time. If the Mora-Sho will fight to the last, then so be it, but if they were willing to become a vassal clan to the Tato-Ie and add their Dead Soldiers to the military might of the Tato-Ie, then that would be preferable.

Such news was on the lips of every Rien, from the teashops to the markets. Merchants looked for Immortal escorts and packed up their wares, eager to sell high to the Mora-Sho clan who'd most likely be willing to pay premium for any supplies that could bolster their chances of surviving the invasion. The Tato-Ie were mustering up mercenaries too, not to engage in the invasion efforts themselves, but to serve as a bulwark against a possible attack by the Ryoku-Jo while the main army was southwards. Mora-Sho emissaries in Nyu-Taro were decrying the act as unjustified, but the nature of Horogi was rarely one that lead to righteous conflicts. San-Li had not yet acted yet, but there were whispers too that the Gakui-Re may be planning something before the battles began. Curious jobs that involved the capture, rather than destruction, of certain types of monsters within the Thunderstruck Grove had popped up amongst the wooden planks nailed to the wall, the tsuchigumo and ushi-oni being the most common. It was messy, undoubtedly, but there was a strangely festive energy in all this too.

For the Immortals, after all, this was an event that could do anything from make them famous to making them a profit, and for the Riens, this was much the same. An inter-clan conflict, if it didn't involve the clan that you were a part of, was simply another opportunity.

But for Ames, Amulak, Magpie, Klein, Raime, Lugh, and Ari, could the same be said?

Or were they preoccupied with other matters instead?

HP: 320/320 | MP: 336/336 | SP: 352/352

The scout simply sat on one of the available while waiting for the rest of his companions to group up and fiddling with the character menu. But judging from the group chat? He won't be seeing Lugh or Ari anytime soon. It wasn't rare that they would get under each other's skin once in a while, but it has been quite a while since they had people actively avoiding one another. But at least this as bad as the group's noodle incident with Mags a few years back. God that was a nightmare and a half to deal with. Raime frowned at the memory while allocating his 3 passive levels to his two skills; opting to allocate two levels to [Ranged Proficiency] and one level for [First In, First Out]. Scouts couldn't hit as hard or take hard hits as well as other classes, but he could at least mitigate that difference by increasing his familiarity and accuracy with any ranged weapon as well as being faster than his foes to avoid damage.
