Avelyn and Laurey

Avelyn has a truly beautiful mind, a logical and pleasing mass of insulation and propagation. A convert-to-be if ever there was. Now we work on our project together, a brain child perhaps more her own than mine, and I am at once humbled and engaged.

Finbarr and Narvia

" F-Finny, what are you writing? I-I'm sorry for interrupting your creative process, but I need someone to talk to because I can't stop crying."

”Oh…”, Finbarr looked at her softly, his pen holding hand stopping in its tracks. ”It’s… nothing, just the script of a play that we were going to have when I was first taken away by the agents. I was the one in charge of making everyone’s lines, you see. I never managed to finish it…”

As Narvia went on, Finbarr kept listening, speaking not another word, waiting for her to complete whatever she had to say. It was as if fate had drawn them together in that room… plus she was an object of his conversion with Alan earlier.

” O-Oh yeah, what are you going to do with the 20 million galactic credits that Ashton and Flame gave us? I-I have no idea how to deal with or develop an idea that doesn’t feel like a waste. T-They were sweet in doing that.” Narvia said cutely, sad with tears going down her cheek.

”Well… first things first.” Finbarr dropped the pen and folded his arms over one another, hunching himself on the table as he gave Narvia direct eye contact. ”I’m thinking of buying land, and then investing on a business for stability’s sake. I may not be a marketing genius like those two, but I think I can do it. Somehow. And as for where… maybe I’ll get that plot in one of the sparsely populated colonies. If things go south for us in our quest… I guess I’ll get myself a place in an alien world that would be willing to accept us.”

Sighing, Finbarr continued. ”As for your other question… Happiness is something you find out for yourself. We just find out what… or who makes us happy.”

” A-A Play sounds pretty nice, Finny. If you do finish it I would like to try it.” Narvia said with interest in her eyes while still teary-eyed. Her body language was hurting a bit much.

She listened to Finbarr’s explanation on what he’ll do with the money buying land and being stable. It sounds like a really good idea compared to all the conflicting ideas she had in her mind or how she’s feeling. The alien world if things went south made her feel a bit more scared and start to shake a bit. However, it is thoughtful to stay away from the Ascendancy if things went completely bad for everyone involved.

” U-Um, Finny that is forward-thinking of you to have a backup plan if things go south. I do hope they don’t though.” Narvia said with a bit of tear going down her cheeks. She starts rubbing her arms since she feels a bit cold and wants to warm herself up.

Narvia hears Finbarr’s sigh and what he said to answer her happiness question. She starts to blush slightly because she hadn’t any idea why she would blush like she is. It was a bit embarrassing to hear it from Finny of all people. She slightly sighs since she feels like Finbarr is saying something without saying it but doesn’t know what exactly. ” F-Finny, what are you trying to say exactly? Please? I-I want to know.” Narvia said slightly embarrassed. She couldn’t tell why she’s embarrassed though but does feel like someone has been watching her from afar, doesn’t know who though. It is mostly because she had many other problems to not realize what these feelings mean deep in her heart.

”Well…” Finbarr was now getting the feeling that she was somewhat understanding the very, very subtle implication he was having in those words. ”You really want to know, eh..? Alright…”

Finbarr reached out from across the table, lightly touching her hand with his hand. ”I like you. And yes. I like you that way.”

Quickly, he fell back to his seat. ”Sorry. That must be quite sudden for me to say.”

Narvia had a look of true realization on her face when Finbarr touches her hand lightly with his hand. It made her get even redder and blush heavily in embarrassment, slightly her heartbeat races. She didn’t truly knew until now that Finbarr had a crush on her, ever since they met. ” Aww, that’s sweet of you to like me that way.” Narvia said. Her tears were still flowing but it means he loves her.

It takes her a bit until she decides to continue to speak after him saying sorry. ” Y-You shouldn’t be saying sorry. I-I should be saying sorry for ignoring these feelings in my heart…” Narvia said. It hurts, she tried to keep everyone at a distance, even if she was hurting so much as she is now.

”F-Finny… I like you that way too. It has been hard on me to even figure out these feelings but… I feel like I should stop being afraid of them and move on with my life.” Narvia said still crying. She was stopping running away from her feelings and everything else.

Narvia...” Finbarr responded. ”This is the best day of my life.” He then briskly walked around the table to get to her side. ”What are the odds… haha. Bloody hell.” He then placed his hand on her head, smiling. ”There there. It’s alright. At least we are now honest with each other. And… uh, does this mean… you and me?...”

Hoho.

Narvia blushes heavily with how Finbarr said her name. As well as what he responded afterward from the name, she was so embarrassed. ” I wonder if the super-geniuses knew the odds of this happening?” Narvia asked mostly hinting at Flame and Ashton mostly. She felt his hand on her head and she slightly giggles cutely and smiling in return. ” Yeah, it does mean that. I-I’m your girlfriend… now.” Narvia said cutely and emphasis on girlfriend. It was embarrassing to say but that’s like the first time she had that word on her mind.

” A-And you are m-my boyfriend, Finbarr.” Narvia said embarrassingly when she emphasized boyfriend before Finbarr. She said his full first name over saying his nickname too, which she gave him too.

”We’ll share that plot of land.” Finbarr wrapped his arms around her, slightly pressing his chin on her head. ”Though I think it's too soon to think about that far in the future, eh? We have a war to win, after all. But at the very least… Ashton and Flame are not the only lovebirds in this ship anymore. Eh?”

Narvia hears him say they will share the plot of land and it was cute to say to her. She wraps her arms around her and giggles at him cutely. It makes her happy to be with someone that always had her back. ” Yeah, a bit too far in the future. But it is happy to hear you say it though. Yes, a war that I want to win and to regain my mother and siblings. Hehe, lovebirds have increased by one is always nice when it’s between us.” Narvia said, agreeing with what Finbarr said. She cutely giggles and was happy as a bird in the sky. Always better to be with someone than no one feeling hurt all the time as she has. It was the true cause of her constantly crying in bed trying to fall asleep.

"Excellent." Finbarr nodded. "Well, with that out of the way, I think we should get going. I'm full, so I won't be sleeping for a while, yet."

Pouting, he then placed his hands on Narvia's, smirking. "You should get some rest now."

Narvia listens to Finbarr and she has a smile but some tears are still there. She cutely smiles and blushes when Finbarr places his hands on hers. It was what he said that made her realize she should get some more sleep than she had gotten. ” Y-Yeah, I should get some rest, Finbarr. I love this, it feels my heart with happiness, thank you.” Narvia said. Finbarr and her being a couple endears her heart and slowly fixes all those problems in her life, but she isn’t wanting to make a choice for her friends or her family. No one should have to make that decision. ” I hope you have a goodnight, Finbarr. Hehe, this was a wonderful conversation.” Narvia said with a sweet little smile on her face. She slowly gets up from her seat beside Finbarr and happily smiles at him. Her body language and how she moved to leave the mess hall were much better than she entered it. Her morale and her smile were recovered and Narvia waves Finbarr a good rest of his day or whatever it is.

"Scíth go maith mo ghrá." Finbarr then turned towards his own quarters, a smile etched into his face.

"Hah, I wonder what the others will think about this..."

Iris

Iris was elated to hear that Amy wanted to go on a shopping trip with her. In truth, Iris hasn't been on a real shopping trip in a long time. Before the mission, they were looking at weapons, but that was to sate her brother's curiosity more than anything else. And before that, her parents only took Samuel and her together, pushing towards cute matching outfits. Going with a super cute girl, hell, a girl has been Iris's list of things to do for years. She got a bit excited when Amy said she hadn't either, it made it feel like a little adventure.

Iris continued to listen as she relaxed her stance to lean on the wall. Iris's nervous phase at the beginning of the conversation has been replaced with her usual demeanor as the relief that she had actually done what she set out to do. Iris had no issue being forward with someone in most topics or scenarios thanks to her training in the Ascendency, but with something as personal as what she wants, she felt awkward. Similar to a novice being presented with their first big task, she had the feeling that she was fumbling and going to fail this basic task but she did it.

Amy had asked her what they wear at sleepovers and honestly, she only knew from having to share a room so often. Iris slightly nodded her head and said, "Well from my experience, you usually try to sleep in what is comfortable to you. Some people like heavier sets of sleepwear. I know some people who would just fall asleep in what they had on. Me, I usually stick with a pair of pajama shorts and a t-shirt. But I kinda want to get something fancier now."

Iris watched Amy get lost in her own thoughts. Giving Iris plenty of time to appreciate Amy for Amy. Iris has never met anyone so warm before. At first, it was just weird but it quickly turned into a form of affection towards it. Then seeing her struggle and get depressed had her worry for Amy. Strangely, that was a good thing to Iris. Iris may seem a bit airy and nice but she knows more than anyone that she is not. Whether she was like this before or after that war is hard to tell but all she knows is that if you aren't her brother and maybe Tarak, she doesn't care for you. Even during that fight with the mercenary, if the tides kept going in his favor, she would have left Nero there without a second thought. Amy is the exception to that and she hopes to learn from this as well as have fun.

Iris blushes and sends a thumbs up at Amy when she says she trusts her and that she was pretty. As Amy expressed concern about the compatibility of the clothes with her, Iris waved her hand to dismiss it and said, "Most of the places can probably modify it there and if they can't there is bound to be a seamstress at the Bazaar. Besides, I know you will look beautiful in anything."

Iris looks at the extended hand and takes it saying sure as she gets in close. Just as they were about to start talking, Iris felt a buzz from her back pocket, it was her omni-tool containing a message from the Doctor. The final preparations for their health monitoring system were in place and would finish soon. It was really important that it was functional because it would allow her to have more free time for her date. With a sigh, Iris turns towards Amy with a disappointed look on her face, "It seems that I need to go. The final preparations for the in-depth health monitoring system are in place. It should let me have a better way of using my healing magic. I guess we'll have to save the talks for the shopping trip." she started to move away and go to work.

Over the rest of the day she was working, she used all her extra time planning her trip with Amy to go without a hitch. With the docking of the ship at the galactic Bazaar, she met up with Amy. Iris had dressed in her only set of good clothes in hopes to look more presentable and more appealing. Iris gave a big smile to Amy and walks up to her with a happy, "Ready?"

Xuanzang - Hallway

As soon as she got on the ship, Maria likely gave an eerie first impression to most of the crew due to her lacking of emotion. She assumed one of her allies - most likely Tarak - gave the crew a short summary of her apathy problem and save her the trouble of explaining it herself. As for the crew itself... It certainly was a cascade of oddities, though one that struck her with interest is the red-skinned alien. She could tell this was a fellow adept of the Mind... and was no Amateur at it either. She could feel her attempt at peering into Maria's mind, and while Amy did fail to penetrate her mental shielding, Maria showed just as much failure in tapping into her mind right back.

Ironically enough, that same sense of unease that Amy felt towards Maria, Maria felt with Amy, and generally for the same reason. Because of this, Maria's instincts from her past was telling her to keep away from this 'Amy' girl.

...And yet, she could not deny a feeling of curiosity towards Amy. She has heard of her kind, as well as their natural affinity to the Mind, but Amy is the first of them she's ever saw. For now, she'd listen to her instincts and steer clear - she seems interested in Iris anyways, and it'd be unwise to get in the way of that - but she is interested in seeing what this 'Zevzd' can do, and so will keep that interest in the back of her mind for later on...

As a Child Prodigy, Maria was among those who assisted Natasha in this bold financial move. She had no knowledge of the digital realm beyond the basics, however, she did have financial experience from her past dealings before the Star Marine project, her family taught her much when it came to that. Still, The boldness of her new captain to take as much as they did from the wealthiest families of the Ascendancy was rather unexpected for her. So bold, in fact, that she didn't seem to realize that one of those wealthy families were her own. She did the best she could to keep the Wilhelm family away from the digital crosshairs of RealAscendancyStockBets. All that was left to have was a prayer.

As for her portion of what was stolen, 20 million credits... She was almost certain it was enough money that her other comrades had no idea what to do with it. The shock of having so much money did not hit her quite as hard seeing where she came from, and so she knew exactly where to put it. She wasted no time taking the money from the personal account it was distributed to, and transferring it into a separate account created by her family, secure and off the Ascendancy Grid. Of course she needed help in rubbing off the tracks to ensure that it stayed that way, and who better to ask than her "Big Bro" Tarak.

It must seem really weird from the outside looking in, the emotionless girl trying to act cute, calling Tarak "big bro" while keeping that apathetic tone of voice. But this too was something that the other Star Marines just got used to, she's been close to Tarak ever since she first met him in the facility all those years ago.

Still, she never had much chance of going to the Bazaar, especially since her last time there was short-lived and led to her and Alan going with Joey and the shenanigans that followed that. She didn't have any spending money for herself since she put all of that money into said separate account, but frankly she was ok with that. Interacting with Tarak and the others and seeing some actual sights at this bazaar was all she really needed. Maybe she can find a good place up on the rooftop of a building there to peacefully stargaze or something.

A peaceful area to stop and think...

"I guess I do have something I want after all, something I don't need money to get..."

Location: Xuanzang → The Galactic Bazaar
Interaction: Finbarr @The Man Emperor
Mention:

Narvia went to sleep in her bedroom on the Xuanzang, and it was well deserved and needed for what happened earlier. The confession to make herself much happier by having a boyfriend after all this time, she's growing up finally. She had a smile on her face while sleeping in her bed. It was peaceful, and she had tranquility in her heart compared to the frustrations of being away from her mother and older siblings. Narvia had found normalcy in her heart and feelings after the trials and tribulations. Hopefully, it does help, and there are no bad dreams that had caused her to be utterly depressed and felt like she was losing it.

Thankfully, no such nightmares popped up this time around while she was sleeping, and all she could do was dream something more meaningful. It was about Finbarr and her instead of anything, but how innocent Narvia is, it wasn't any underlying meaning to it. Narvia's dream boils down to what her love spoke earlier before she went to sleep and got some ideas and need to plan to get through it. It will take a long time to get those ideas through anyone since they are wild and imaginative like, Narvia is.

Narvia didn't toss or turn as much as she has in her sleep, but she was cuddling her seal plushie as cutely as possible. It was the one that her Godfather bought her after all, and why wouldn't she cuddle it. However, the second one she has was crafted by Phi, and she loves it too. The plushie that Phi crafted was correct beside her in reach of her arms because it was also adorable. It didn't take long for her to have two seal plushies in her arms while sleeping. Narvia felt relaxed in this whole situation and wanders her dream space.

Narvia slowly wakes up in her bed after that beautiful dream and finally goes into her happy place. True happiness is with others and forgiving and forgetting past mistakes of people's actions. It shows, proper growth and she looks at her omnitool, and she got much more sleep than she had thought. Her omnitool was optimized to shows how long she has slept by some of its calculations. She saw it was at least 7 hours of sleep, as Narvia needed rest after not getting that much sleep. ' I will Dragius, I will tell Nikolas I don't hate him anymore." Narvia thought to herself with a smile on her face.

She gets up from her bed and takes a shower since it would be better to feel happy and fresh. It causes her to get different casual clothes that are even more beautiful than her previous outfit. Her new casual attire has a baby fluffy seal laying on snow on her t-shirt with words of adorable and pretty on the back of her shirt. And a pretty cute skirt that's multicolored to be aligned with her favorite colors primarily. Her socks particularly match her t-shirt's color of bluish silver. " I-I'm so cute in this outfit. I do hope Finbarr loves it." Narvia said out loud in front of her mirror. All she could do is giggle to herself while brushing her incredibly long hair.

Narvia didn't take long to brush her incredibly long hair and puts it in her favorite hairstyle of a ponytail, with the white ribbon her mother bought her. She had a smile on her face, and she remembered the ship was going to be at the Galactic Bazaar. It gives her an idea, and she should shop with Finbarr, it would be a wonderful idea for their first date. " Hehe, hopefully, he will accept my invitation to shop at the Bazaar." Narvia said. She sent an encoded message to Finbarr so none of the other Star Marines can take a peek at it. Finbarr, want to shop with me at the Galactic Bazaar? It would be lovely. I hope to see you, my love.

Narvia slowly gets out and puts on her cute tennis shoes, and she wears on a broken deal since her combat boots would quite clash with her outfit. She thinks for a slight second and wonders if she has a makeup kit. It didn't take too long to remember she doesn't have any because, for one being part of the Dragon's Brigade Fleet, her Godfather didn't want to buy her some. Nikolas’s philosophy was by the book of what a soldier should look like on the battlefield. She was only on the battlefield once, and all the other times were only on the flagship of the Fleet. ' I guess I could buy myself some makeup at the Galactic Bazaar. Also, other things I would need too. I should probably buy my love something at the Bazaar also.' Narvia thought to herself. She would have a new experience by buying for someone that makes her feel complete. However, all these outfits and stuff she has are because of herself mostly.

Therefore, Narvia walks out of her room, shuts the door, and walks to Xuanzang's Exit to reach the Galactic Bazaar. She stops at Xuanzang's departure door for Finbarr to go on their first date and figure out what she wants to buy at the Galactic Bazaar. Narvia looks at her omnitool to precisely see the specific shop she wants to buy at, a beauty product that sells a place with makeup. It was cute, and she was trying to find beauty products though she was running out of her favorite shampoo and conditioner since it would be a pain if her hair gets tangled. She tears up every time she has to brush her hair when it's so twisted with tangles, and it hurts every single time. ' I'm going to add that on my list then since the Revitalize Shampoo and Conditioner is vital to my hair not being tangled.' Narvia thought about making a list of products to buy that she remembers. She's going to be careful not to blow all her GCs, but she still needs to think about what she's going to do.

An idea popped up in Narvia's head about plushies and what to do with them, but it was something instead of nothing like she had previously. She probably would need to set it up and get a plan together about the finer details of her idea. It'll be similar to what Finbarr is planning with a business to keep them afloat since they would be living in the same house. Narvia blushes a bit while nervously thinking about her idea with the money as a backdrop. She doesn't want to spend her galactic credits illogically or against her ideals since it would be too much like what others want her to do. ' Plushies, but I should probably think about this more than I have. I do wonder what kind of thingy could open with plushies. I wouldn't want to use it for ill intentions. Everyone needs a cuddly little friend near them, though!' Narvia thought with a smile and still red from blushing. She found a list maker on her Omnitool and made a list of what she wants to buy for herself and Finbarr.

Narvia walks out of the exit door of the Xuanzang and felt slightly nervous and worried. Therefore, she sent out another message to Finbarr telling him exactly where she was since she was a bit nervous. All because it would be safer with him than without him, but she can defend herself. Only it is because it's the first time she ever fell in love with someone. " Uhh, did I forget anything else?" Narvia asked herself a rhetorical question.

Alexander Kherol

The Last Ascendancy Commander

Everything's Alright

2454 AD

Earth

He was only twelve. But his demeanor, his posture, the jacket hung over his shoulder and the neatly-combed white hair didn't tell the same story. Every stride was him growing up before age, breaking boundaries, meeting everyone's high expectations of the genius kid. His last one was through the gates of the University of Mortier.

"Alex!"

Before he even realized who that was, he was already jumped on, to the curious gazes of the passerby, all almost a decade older than the boy. He felt her arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders, her body weighting on his back like a hanger, her fragrant reeks of dirt and grass as she edged her cheeks near him. After hours studying and working in the disinfected labs with these cold mindless equipment, this feeling was a bit overwhelming.

"Sarie?" It didn't take him long to recognize who it was. "How did you find me?"

"I asked!" She replied almost immediately, her tone unusually cheerful, as if she had just brushed a huge weight off her shoulder.

"Who did you ask?" He knew he was quite a sensation in his neighbourhood, but he doubted if they'd just outright tell him where exactly he'd be.

"Your mom." She replied. "She said you're done in the afternoon, but I didn't know when in the afternoon, so I just came here early. Didn't expect ya to be this late."

"How long did you wait?" Alexander asked.

"Four hours."

Four hours?!

"What did you do?!" Alexander was very much perplexed. He quickly prompted his friend to get off his back. He looked at her in that emerald eyes. She seemed completely oblivious to her actions, even proud almost. "How do you wait for me for so long?"

"I was in the field right over there!" She pointed in the general direction. "I just ran around, catching some cicadas or talked with the birds."

Geez. She didn't need to do this. Didn't she have friends who she'd rather hung out with. He was the closest one sure, but he's probably not the only one. Unless she'd have to be very lonely to keep hanging on him like that. She didn't seem like that kind of girl though.

"Why though?"

So why?

"...You didn't show up at the park to play for a while." She said, her tone went down significantly. "So I was curious to what ya up to."

"Oh I see." He patted her on the shoulders. "It's mostly schoolwork. I just have more than usual." He gave her a warm smile. "I'll come when I'm free. You don't need to do this."

Her lips curled uncomfortably. "No I do. It's not fun anymore." She confessed. The white-haired boy looked at her worryingly. "I have many friends, but you're the only one who's fun to hang out with."

He was the only one who didn't look at her the same way as people do: a collection of funny labels that resembled her. Rustic. That girl with a comical accent. The shameless one. None of that he ever said to her. Despite being pretty much out of reach for her to be around a boy of his stature, he was a nice friend, never belittled her for her status, never made fun of her for her looks, how she acts, respected her thoughts, and always one to laugh at her antics, even if he was on the receiving end of it. Even though she still had other friends willing to play, she never had one willing to appreciate her presence.

Alexander stood there, silent. The gentle autumn breeze continued, as if to rush those busy commuters home to the warmth of the setting sun.

"Do you want to...uhhh..." It never took him this long over a math problem in comparison. "...get something to eat?" He stumbled.

"Sure!" Sarie replied, her enthusiasm seemingly on the recovery, but it didn't feel the same way again.

After indecisively wandering through the food district, having too many snacks to choose from, both of them decided on some chocolate cookies. Classic but delicious and quite nice for growing up kids. To add the icing on it, they were just passing by a beautiful beach. It was artificially made, but the scenery and authenticity was great enough that the two didn't really care if they were fake or not. They just wanted some company, after having drifted away from each other for long.

"You know what...thanks, Sarie. Thanks" Alexander said. Sarie was a little confused. "I didn't know I needed this." He sat down on the grass above the walkway parallel to the beach. "You know about the Prodigy Supplementary Program in our city?"

"Nay. I have no idea what that is." She shook her head, to which Alexander laughed. He forgot this wasn't a college student, a professor or a school teacher he's talking to.

"It's something for people like me. I excel in schools. They decided I could be better if I have a different curriculum, so my time at school will mostly be at...well...where you waited for me. Studying high concepts that you don't wanna know." He said. "It took a lot more time than others my age."

"So that's why you've been off." The orange-haired girl caught on. Alexander nodded.

"I like the atmosphere, the people are great, smart and respectful, but...it just isn't the same as this." He said. "I've always found you a unique friend."

People usually keep to their own groupings when it comes to friendship, especially as it was just as cool to people as it was disgusting to hate on those who aren't them. Rich kids on rich kids. Poor kids on poor kids. Kids with their addictions to that one FPS shooter. But Sarie? As shameless she was sometimes, that confidence and her obliviousness to this was appealing. He didn't need to approach her to connect a diverse group of friends. She approached him, not with drools of being with the cool kid, nor begging for attention. She just did, because she liked him.

"I can ask my program advisor. They probably would let up on me." He said, smiling warmly to her. Considering he was still doing better than others in the program, it probably isn't much to ask. "So we can play together more often."

Sarie, upon hearing this, gave the young Alexander the biggest hug she had. A hearty laugh was shared. It was as if their friendship was once again blooming.

"Alex. Are those your friends?" Sarie said after breaking away from the hug, looking behind him. Alexander looked behind him as well. There were two men in black suit and sunglasses walking in their direction on the walkway.

"...No. I don't know them." He knew a lot of adults in the university, but none of them resembled these two. None of them had that edgy aesthetics.

"Why'd you ask?"

He didn't get a reply. Because before she could, those two men were already right next to both of them. The girl is interesting, but the boy was their main target. The renowned prodigy of Alexandria. One of the man grabbed Alexander by the neck from behind, his arm choked him, a knife's edge placed right near his face. The warm happiness just earlier turned into terror, but their fear only just registered. Alexander was just suppressing the tremor in his arms and legs, while Sarie was just paralyzed. Her arms wrapped around herself, her lips too trembling to even scream. Her knees pointed into each other as she battled herself to look away with her wide eyes and shut them tight.

"I got the boy. You go grab her."

The other man in black nodded and approached Sarie. In plain view of the also shaken Alexander. He didn't know what was going on. Just a few seconds ago, they were eating chocolate and chatting, now he was being choked. She was going to be choked too. What's going to happen to both of them? What's going to happen to Sarie? He didn't even run the possibilities. He was terrified. But what could happen to her was even more terrifying. That was not to sit. He might be choked, but he was not choking.

Alexander felt the stinging pain running across his palm as he suddenly grabbed into the knife itself by the edge, his hands bare to feel the metal on his flesh. His other hand grabbed onto the handle of the knife, around the man's hand. Briefly submitting to his animal instinct, his teeth mounted onto the man's hand like a predator sinking its fangs on its hapless prey. Blood spilled out of both their hands. In a sudden and bad pain, the man let go of his grip of both him and the knife, which went right into Alexander's hands then right back into the man's abdomen. The other man realized what happened, turned back and impulsively lunged at the boy. A quick slash through the hand, coming close to almost severing his fingers clean was the price to pay. Their task had met unexpected disaster.

The spine-chilling stare, blood dripping from both his teeth and his other hand, gently laid on his dear friend nudging her to back away. This is no soft-spoken child.

"HEY! YOU!"

The commotion had alerted the neighbourhood. The two men could see people running to the two kids’ aids. Their initial attempts at stealth had failed. The boy was too resistant. Normally they would switch to stun weapons, but they were both quite badly injured beyond their expectations. With time rapidly closing in on them, the two men decided to retreat, their hands gripping on their injuries.

As the adrenalines died down, the knife slipped from his hand and fell onto the dirt. And soon after, himself.

Thankfully, it was just simple blood loss.

But Alexander wouldn't know how close he had come to losing his hand right there.

The next thing he knew, he was in the hospital, his hands well-patched up with several stitches. Outside of a blood transfusion, he was fine. His parents were here, having cried pretty much the entire night, even after knowing he was ok. What was more entrenched was that they had taken actions. They knew of the missing prodigies. They knew what would happen to them. They knew now he would be next. He made it out alive today, but what if they came after him tomorrow, the day after, when he wasn't ready to defend himself?

But they weren't the only one to sob for him.

"Alex?"

The hospital door slowly opened, then halfway through swung open violently.

"ALEX!"

Alexander couldn't muster a response before being smothered. She clinched him in her arms, pressed him onto her chest, his head pinned in one spot, his hand raised in concerns. Her hold was so tight they could feel each other's breathing. But she wasn't ready to let go. If hugs could heal, she'd do it all night.

"There there. It's fine, see?" He raised his arms, trying to laugh it off before returning her hug.

"I thought I lost you..."

He saw the blood stain on her shirt, still there. It all happened so fast, he didn't even remember what happened exactly, but there was only one man close enough to her that moment. It was his blood. Blood given to save his best friend.

"It's ok. It's ok..." His bandaged hand, the hand that protects her, now patting her from behind. He softly whispered. "Everything will be alright."

Everything will be alright...

Ashton and Flame - The Galactic Bazaar

Ashton and Flame sent a message to Nero and Laurey through omni-tool text, saying simply, Hey, you two! We’re going to the bazaar to look for some bootleg Earth Music - J-Pop, Classical, and Heavy Metal! Want to come with?

PS: We might try and enter Korta Stock Markets next - They have their own Stock Exchange and Corporations and have had them even during their vassalage. Won’t that be fun?

The message bleeped inside Laurey’s mind as she lay, spaced out, on a crate in the Cargo Bay. The Mech towered over her. Avelyn, where had she gone? Oh well.

Music? Yeah, that’s what she needed. Something to really transport her. And Stock Markets… that seemed important, like something sober Laurey wanted to know about.

So came her reply: “You know it!”

It’s funny, because at the time, Nero was actually trying to figure out what the hell he could spend several million credits on besides ‘the best goddamn chainsaw in the world. That was still bookmarked, but while he was seeing about maybe finding some really good low-profile armor online before hitting the bazaar, a message appeared!

Ah stupid pop-ups… Always when I’m- Oh wait. Nah, this is legit.

After all, he didn’t usually get messages from people who were...you know...in the same ship as him. But since they’d landed at the Bazaar now, that probably made it a bit more necessary. He wasn’t sure about Classical music. Some people swore by it. Nero’s eyebrow DID go up at J-Pop and Heavy Metal. He didn’t know Metal as much as the other, ‘cause...you know...orphan Japanese boy, buuut he was curious, so he sent a -Sure, why the hell not?- in reply and also needed to know their location.

The response was, We’re still near the ship’s airlock, waiting for you guys. After that, we’re going to the hangar and taking a Food Crawler so we can have breakfast, while also heading for the Main Bazaar where we can go to an obscure but good music shop in the northern section of the superstructure. By the way, the two of us are paying.

“Double neat!” Laurey messaged back, swinging herself upright and almost toppling straight over again, “Thanks guys. I’ll make my way there.” Despite having just gone shopping, it wasn’t that daunting to go again, and there was breakfast. Can’t argue with breakfast.

”Eh?”

They wanted to pay? But weren’t they all…? Ah, he’d explain it to ‘em in person. Nero would show up at the airlock in basic casuals, then. Still armed, of course, but mainly stuff in his pockets so it’s not so obvious. Not that it was gonna be an issue where being taken by surprise was concerned. With the way he’d upgraded, the young assassin was feeling pretty good about handling shit right now. Besides the fact, teaching a basic novice like Laurey kind of underlined how frigging cool he was, so bonus ego boost! Thanks to all that, well, it’s not like the boy was in any sort of sour mood as he broke the confusion to the pair by the airlock.

”How come you guys wanna pay the way when I could spend literal years trying to figure out what to do with all those credits?”

Ashton blinked at that and said, “Well, we invited you, so it’d be rude to ask you guys to pay -”

Flame sighed and said, “Ashton, we should probably get to the food crawler - That and I do have some ideas on how Nero can spend his money.” He looked at Nero, “Basically, once all this is over, why don’t you buy a farm, as well as settle down with the… Partner of your choice? Or if that’s boring, why not learn how to be a gunsmith?”

The Food Crawler in question, a gigantic restaurant on wheels, was quickly approaching. Perhaps it’s time to get out of the ship?

Yeah, Nero would be leaving to flag that sucker down while they were walking and talking. He’d given the duo kind of an incredulous stare. You know, the whole ‘You serious?’ look.

”Ya gotta be kidding me. Farming? Gunsmitching? Putting aside the part about ‘partner’, although a girl who can keep up’d be nice, you just said two things I’m definitely no good at. I spent the war killing plants with knives. I mean, c’mon, Flame. Literally the worst guy to do those things. I’d be a better...uhhh....hey, computer: What’s that prize-fighter wrestler with a mask?”

The Omnitool replied ”Luchadore.”, and he nodded, going ”That.”.

At this point Laurey arrived, dressed in her tatty and curry-stained clothing (the only set she had besides the Ascendancy uniform and her brand-spanking-new overalls). She did not seem to notice, or care.

“Fellas,” she nodded to the three. They had nice auras, purple-green lights dancing about them. She shook her head. “You ready to eat until our stomachs burst?”

“Yes!” Ashton said, while Flame thought about Nero being a Luchadore and nodded to show his approval for the idea.

Minor Timeskip

This food cart had a wider variety of food than the last one, and quite a bit of Earth food too, such as steaks and ribs and salads and vegetable soups. Also fresh fruits grown in greenhouses on the Bazaar, such as plums and apples and oranges and grapes. Then Flame said, “You guys want to know something potentially gross? Some Rau’ve bodies are edible, just like fruits and vegetables. Rau’ve can also grow fruit and flowers, too, and those are edible as well.”

“Gee, Flame,” Ashton said to his boyfriend, “You could have made me lose last night’s dinner right now, you know that?”

“Same goes for humans,” Laurey said, wearing a dramatically grim look, “doesn’t mean you’ll catch me chowing down.”

Yes, they were enjoying a great deal of foods to feast on, aaand when Flame brought up the subject of eating Rau’ve, there was...sort of a cough or a grunt of some kinda’ noise from Nero’s direction. It sounded a little...like embarrassment.

”So uhh...I may’ve actually figured that part out… I was a bit low on rations, and it wasn’t cannibalism, so...”

It was also a bit of trial and error, because there were also parts that weren’t edible.

Ashton twitched as Flame said, “To be honest, if it’s flowers and seedless fruits, it’s no less different than eating hair or fingernails. Still gross, but not cannibalism -”

“Okay,” Ashton said, “Let’s talk about something else.” He looked at all three of his companions and said, “My father is a fencing teacher, and by fencing, I mean swordfighting, and by sword fighting, I don’t mean the pretty stuff with rapiers and sabers. My dad knows how to use a longsword, like the one that Crow guy kept waving around, only not Perfected Electrum. He taught me and my adoptive brother a few tricks, too.”

Flame looked at Ashton and said, “That Arthur kid?”

Ashton smiled and said, “Yes, Arthur, my brother. We found him trying to take shelter from the rain - We didn’t ask why he was running away - And then we took him in and adoption was surprisingly smooth due to me being able to afford the right bribes. He fast became my dad’s finest student and was teaching him new tricks after a time.”

He then stood up from his seat and began to demonstrate a few poses and stances, not caring about what the other customers thought. Laurey clapped for the little display. If Nero gave it a thought, those were nigh-identical to Blue Crow’s fighting style when the latter eventually decided to ‘get serious’ instead of just throwing magic around...

“Nero’s been teaching me how to fight,” Laurey said as she chewed something wholly unsentient, “Not with a sword though.”

”Yeah, with proper fists and that.”, continued Nero, swallowing so he became a bit more intelligible. He had noticed the similarity in the stance from the Crow guy when he started fighting properly. Really, the boy had been a little more interested in the sword itself, but hey, he was observant.

”This father of yours have like a student that he expelled or something? That merc kinda’ fought like that. Not like really well, but I did get rushed when he launched out from the wall.”

Ashton said, “He taught for money - Gave courses lasting for years and made a few dozen apprentices in addition to his students. I was his best, though… And Arthur was better.” He sighed, “I miss them. I miss my family.”

Flame said, “So, what about your mother, Ashton?”

Ashton perked up again and said, “Well, she was a mechanic. A mechanic for sports cars. Also did the family expenses. I wonder how they’re doing, how they must be worried about me - At least the Ascendancy didn’t take Arthur, though… Maybe they thought I was the bigger pain.”

Nero sat back a bit. His capacity for food was reaching its limit.

”I don’t know or care for family. Yours have been fine, but mine are a pair of right fucks, so the hell with ‘em.”

Always a sensitive topic, in a way. Nero’s parents were on his list of people that he wanted dead, somewhere after the ascendancy commanders who’d started the Star Marine project and that of the soldiers - any who survived, that is - who brought him in when the orphanage basically sold him to them. Come to think of it, if those people weren’t sort of taking care of some other kids up shit creek like him, he’d off them too. Maybe he’d kick them around a little. Wasn’t sure. Point is, Nero had no love of family. They fucked up his life long before the Ascendancy ever got the chance. He didn’t like the subject, but he had no problem talking about his hatred for them. This was obviously part of the reason he was so standoffish. Where would he gain the trust of anyone in his life? Nowhere, that’s where.

“Hear hear,” Laurey said, raising a glass of blue ice wine in toast, “To family, can’t live with them, can’t live without them. No, shit, can’t be born without them. Without your parents.” A pause and a wry smile, “Fuck them. To us, and the infinite potentials of suffering and solace born unto us.” She finished off the last of her drink.

Once the food was over - Obviously, it was paid for beforehand - Ashton and Flame led the way towards the interior of the Galactic Bazaar, where they eventually entered a shop filled with musical instruments and old laserdiscs ran by an old Korta, who greeted the four and said, “Wolf Cub! Fire-boy! Glad to see you - I just got a few new pieces of Old Earth Music you guys might like!”

He then looked at Nero and Laurey, asking, “New friends? Don’t worry, I won’t pry!”

This was one of those off-to-the-side and out-of-the-way spots, as opposed to the guy shouting for business at a vendor spot marked ‘Akbar’s Emporium’ a ways back. Strange little man, that one. Anyway, this shop had a whole helluva lot that was music, ranging from instruments that Nero might be interested in messing with, here and there, to musics of all kinds and in all forms. At the mention of him and Laurey, the young assassin just shrugged and went ”Yeah, basically.”, and returned to looking around. He wasn’t completely ignorant of music. He just didn’t really own much, so certain things would get his attention. Laurey gazed at the metaphorical candy, a child.

Just as the Korta had greeted his new customers, another entered the shop, though they were not as human as the rest. Jude had been tasked with checking in on those who were spending their time and recently acquired credits down at the Galactic Bazaar. Jude didn't have any interest in spending their portion, browsing the wares of the market or even really leaving their room, but they'd long since stopped refusing direct orders from anyone in a position of authority, so off to the shops they went. After sweeping a few of the bigger stores, this particular shop caught their eye. They were a music lover, and hey, everyone was really so it couldn't hurt too bad to check for the crew in here. At the least it'd be less than a waste of time than that stupid Akbar's Emporium.

Miraculously, Jude ended up picking correctly. First they spotted Nero, then Laurey, Ashton and Flame too. They cursed their luck at not having time to browse, and approached the group. "I was told to make sure you were all fine. Are you?"

Holy moly. An eidolon of the future man had arrived from the future, man. Laurey’s mouth ran away with her, “Are you a messenger of the Great Machine?” Her face glittered like smashed glass.

A disappointed sigh escaped Jude's 'mouth,' even as Laurey's face beamed in excitement. "I am not an AI. I was human. This metal shell is just, what the Ascendancy made me, I guess. I would appreciate it if you didn't call me a robot." Jude said, their voice carrying the slight sadness their face could not. "You're… Laurey, right? I think I've seen you around. I recognize one of the guys over there too." Jude mentioned, pointing to Ashton. "Are you all with Moonstrike? Like I said, I was just checking in."

“That’s odd, I’ve never seen you,” was all she said, before letting the others deal with the not-robot. She hid her disappointment in the meticulous study of the music.

“Jude!” Ashton said as he waved at the big guy, “Glad to see you - The higher-ups allowed you to finally join us, it seems?”

Flame then introduced Jude to Laurey, “Laurey, this is Jude - He’s one of us, experimented on more… Comprehensively than usual by our old tormentors.” He then gave a rare smile and asked, “So, do you have a favored genre of music? This place sells obscure Earth songs...”

Nero looked over back at the new arrival who was being kinda’ obvious, openly talking about Moonstrike and all. Granted, the guy running this place was a friend of Ash and Flame’s, so he wouldn’t mind, but it was a bad idea to just open your yap about the rebel organization. The interaction between him and Laurey was also kinda’ weird, but then it was obvious that both of them were cybered up and...hang on a minute. Even as he was being introduced, Nero snapped his fingers.

Now I remember. I saw you in combat once. Think I jumped off that helmet once into somebody’s guts. Nice swords.”

Jude wouldn’t recognize Nero right off because he wasn’t in his mask or any combat armor right now. The reverse was possible because the cyborg always looked the way he did now. Nevertheless, the instance of some Star Marine hopping off of his head and diving headfirst into someone to vibro into their body with vibroblades would be something he could easily recall.

Jude was a tad confused at how Ashton seemed happy to see them, at first, but then they were swept up into introductions and the like and didn't really have time to process all that. Flame was here as well, and approached Laurey and themself with Ashton, eager to introduce the two. Jude was glad he had got Laurey's name right, not much of a worse introduction than getting someone's name wrong, but they were far happier at Flame smiling at them and making pleasant small talk. If only those of Jude's old squad were as welcoming…

Before Jude could answer, though, the last person in the shop, who, again Jude thought they recognized something about, introduced himself. Apparently they had been in combat together, Nero vaulting off of Jude into someone they were currently fighting and disemboweling them.

"Thank you. For the help in that fight and the compliment. As for the music question… Um, well, I have kinda eccentric taste? Or, eclectic? I'd be interested in some softer rock music, stuff from around the start of the 21st century."

“We have those!” the Korta shopkeeper was in his element, “Let’s just say that during the ‘dark days’ of our vassalage, we made plenty of illegal contacts with illegal music sellers on Earth…”

Galactic Bazaar

(A Collaboration post with @The Man Emperor)

"Sheesh, as dirty and crowded as we left it...Out of all the places we could go to spend cash, why the hell would it be back here?" Alan asked as he and Maria walked through the main street of the Bazaar, his hands behind his back as he stared at the surrounding environment, bored and unimpressed.

"...It is a merchant's melting pot, varied in qualities and prices." Maria simply said, staring outward as if through the crowds and into space. She was as doll-like and lifeless as ever it seems.

"And a paradise for thieves and con-men. I don't think I ever liked large marketplaces like this; it's too loud and so annoyingly crowded, and it just....well, it brings up some bad memories, let's put it that way. ...Why are you even dragging me here? I thought you put your money in some secret account or some shit." Alan asked; as loud and talkative as ever it seems.

"To help get away from the crowds and noise. You claim to grow up in places like this. Perhaps you know things about this environment that I do not. A roof is suitable."

"Can't you just fly up there?"

"Negative. It would bring unneeded attention." She said as they headed towards Klein's location unwittingly.

Klein, having been unaware that Maria and Alan were heading right towards his location, was still wandering around, a glazed doughnut in his hand. He took tentative bites every now and then, salivating at the sweet glaze as he did so. It has been a long time since he had a moment of peace, even if it was in the middle of a massive, crowded space station.

"Scary ass bastard." Klein thought, memories of being accosted by Squad 0 flashing through his mind. "Can't tell anyone to do anything without threatening them. Hmph. I'll get back on you one day, when this job is done. What job is it even?! They just told me to go in and... ugh."

A mere moment later, he saw Alan and Maria, and they were headed right towards him, their eyes clearly seeing him right now. Did they recognize him? Or...?

"Oh, by God. Too soon."

Discreetly, he started to walked away. He had long legs and a fast pace; it won't take long for him to disappear. It was now or never...

Indeed they did notice him, and indeed they did recognize him, it didn't take long for them to recognize a 'friend' that hasn't been seen for a long time. Especially so when they were last seen doing something memorable...like deserting them right before the Battle of Proxima. Sure nothing actually happened after that battle and the Rau've turned out nicer than expected, but they certainly did not know that at the time. Klein may as well have left all of his allies to death that day, had the Rau've been as merciless as believed.

Maria said and did nothing, simply staring at Klein with those dead eyes of hers.

"Oh... hello." She simply said, unperturbed and calm as if everything was normal.

"...Klein?" Alan simply said, wincing his eyes so as to ensure he wasn't making a mistake. He then noticed that Klein was about ready to book it out of there, and so he ran after him.

"OH No you don't, get back here!" Alan said as he chased after Klein. Maria simply stood there, looking up towards the sky and proceeding to check if any rooftops were accessible.

Klein quickened his pace, trying very hard not to break into a full run in order not to draw any attention to himself amongst the crowd. He would, however, bump right unto a particularly opulent Gill, whose great girth knocked him back a little.

Grinning nervously, he briskly walked past the Gill, only to trip on a Kanarusian Feldraken's tail, who looked upon him with a face of death.

"I'm so sorry." Klein blurted out, trying to get up, but Alan would soon catch him right then and there...

Alan was having just as much trouble getting through the crowds, a major reason he hated crowded places like this in the first place. In his case however, it seemed someone else bumped into him, he could feel a human handprint right on his back and pushing him forward.

"Hey, what the fuck, man!?"

"Sorry matey, in a hurry!" This fucker didn't even turn to face him as he said that. All Alan could see of him was tail of a red coat consumed in the crowded mass and some weird ass hat.

"Who the hell...? Whatever, head in the game, A. Head in the fucking game." Alan thought. Fortunately for him, this was about the time his target tripped on a Kanarusian tail and as soon as Alan caught eyes with Klein again, he took the chance and bolted towards him like a missile, not giving a fuck who he himself pushes out his way.

"Every step you take away from me's a punch to your cowardly face, asshat, I'd suggest stopping while it's still just one."

"Fine, fine." Klein stood up from his fall, using his cane to support himself. He looked forward, his other hand twitching just a little itty bit. "Sorry, have we met before? I don't remember."

Yes we have.

The Audacity...

Without warning, as if in response to the question, Alan gets close and goes in for a quick sucker punch to Klein's left cheek.

...He did say Klein was at one, after all.

"Ow..." Klein fell backwards unto the floor, much to the surprise of surrounding onlookers. "What... Oh, it's you. I remember now. Alan... was it? You're still mad at me for deserting, huh?"

In response Alan grabbed hold of him and dragged him away, looking at the Onlookers.

"Dine-and-Dasher. Been sent to bring him back to pay back his dues. ...Nothing to see here, go about your lives." He said, as he and Klein head towards a back alley, the others seeming to believe what he said about him. When the two were alone, he pushed him towards a wall.

"Don't go treating it like a minor inconvenience. Friends died in that battle, and we were in a position where we'd be next. Luckily for you, things didn't go out as we expected it to. So that punch is for abandoning us like you did. Far as I'm concerned, you've paid your debt now and only reason why I'm not going to flat-out kill you is because those Aliens weren't as bloodthirsty as we were told. I don't know what kind of coincidence brought you here, but at least you had to have grown some balls to show your face to us again either way." He said to him.

"I know..." Klein replied simply, looking down on Alan because he was just way taller. "I abandoned my friends because I was afraid, a coward, as you said. I didn't want to have any more part in the war, so I fled right before the battle."

Sighing, Klein softly continued. "You don't have to forgive me. Just let me fight again, with you. Maybe that can suffice as atonement for abandoning you all. Who else is there?"

Alan gave a sigh. On the one hand, Klein's only real vice he's seen is that cowardice of his. Throughout the time that he's seen him, Klein has been a lot of things to Alan and a liar isn't one of them.

On the other hand, he didn't think Crowley or his posse of ladies were murderous psychopaths and boy, did they prove him wrong.

"...Okay...I'll take you to them. It's best we meet up with them together as opposed to me simply explaining it to you. All you need to know right now is that Maria is still with us...and Tarak...and Nero. So you might want to brace yourself before we get there, cause I've been reunited with most of them for a short time myself, so I honestly don't know how any of them will react to you coming back. Ashton's literally the only one I'm picturing will be completely forgiving." He said, loosening his hold on Klein and looking out towards the main street before then getting close again.

"One more thing, just so we're crystal clear...? Since you weren't at the battle of Proxima, you probably have no idea...But we got betrayed before. You know Squad 0? ...Those bitches - Crowley especially included - butchered the Squad Leaders...Most of 'em. Our crew has the only ones left alive. Moreover, this rebel situation is important, nay, vital to them. So if you do something to fuck us up, like leave us for dead, or something even worse... it'll really burn me up! ...Are we clear?" Alan then said, while he tried to be calm, the very moment he said "burn" his free hand erupted into white flames, and kept burning like a torch.

"What...?" Klein looked keenly surprised, not because he was pretending really hard not to know about the betrayal of Squad 0, but he really didn't know that they had slaughtered the squad leaders. When they intercepted him, they weren't exactly sharing any details. All he knew that their boy leader went from a sweet kid to a mad psychopath that threatened him and his family back in Cerespont. "They killed the squad leaders..."

Grunting, Klein fixed his gaze back at Alan. "Crystal clear it is, then. I won't leave you, not again. The guilt of one time is bad enough."

Alan stared into his eyes, and while he couldn't completely put his faith in him, the answer he gave was good enough for him. He gave a few nods and finally lets Klein go. His hand still on fire.

"Ok, Our first step should probably be to get back to Maria. Kind of left her alone there when I was chasing you." He said, having Klein follow him back down the road, people seeming to stare now at the fact that his hand was on fire, but no smoke from it.

"You're keeping that on?" Klein whispered, concerned that Alan was exposing himself with his magic. "Ugh, nevermind."

He kept on walking, simply following Alan. Now, what's next...

"Hmm...? Oh this? It's a little hard to turn it off sometimes, and I'd rather not wait on it and keep her alone. Let them think I'm a circus freak or something, and give it a minute, it'll go out eventually." He said as he walked. He couldn't afford to worry about himself at the moment, and it's not like he really gave a shit about how people viewed him anyways.

"Huh..." Klein nodded. He hoped that the people in there would find it in them to trust him again, or at least tolerate him. He needs it to happen. There is no other way.

NERO KAYAKOS

Then...

There's always something that Nero isn't telling you, always something he keeps to himself. It's how he does things. If it isn't important or it's something he can handle, he doesn't really mention it. Let's walk you through, shall we?

We'll start with him testing out the fullness of his magic out, namely the abilities that nobody really knew that he had. Oh, the things he could do with everyone in the galaxy none the wiser! He'd set The Black Spot on Crowley from Squad 0 and was rewarded with the general sensation of what direction he was in, and a vague-but-present sense of his distance. The power could give at least this much on any target he so desired, no fail. It was only vaguely helpful on a galactic scale, much more useful if you were on the same planet, and as effective as a tracking bug if you were in the same general area. Nero got that, and then proceeded to test his Necro-Blade on an empty box in the cargo bay of the Xuanzang. Let's just face it - he spent a fair amount of time there messing about, if he wasn't in his room or wandering the ductwork or something. Much was the young assassin's amusement to watch the cut from the Necro-Blade expand in degradation until the cardboard had disintegrated. It stayed limited to the box in question, which was good, and provided a short while of entertainment. That, however, was when he noticed a sensation that made him sit upright and blink. It was a familiar feeling, one that fed back the sensation of the Black Spot on him and-

"Aw crap! Cancel, cancel, cancel!"

Nobody was aware of any of this, and his mood was still a bit too high off of himself to get mad, so it became more of a 'Whoops! Guess I chose the wrong guy!' thing after the initial shock. They might get a little information out of that, but no harm done...probably. Nero had gone for his stash after that, trying not to think about the incident, and had been snacking and drinking with Laurey in the kitchen area when she brought up the matter of the regularly-scheduled toxin-scrub that rushes through the ductwork and that she was aware of his presence in them, at times. He was inwardly mad about the risk he'd been apparently subjectign himself to each time, but the irritation was fueled by the early screw-up and it made 'im feel like he was getting sloppy. This immediately got turned on its head, though, when Laurey made a stunning confession: She couldn't fight to save her life. So, he ended up starting up some training with her to throw a decent punch, kick people where it hurts, knock people off-balance, etc. It was fun, and it took his mind off of the fuck-ups he'd performed as of late.

He did a fair amount of footwork because he insisted that Laurey work on a REAL target, which is to say one that could move and duck and weave. It wasn't that hard to avoid someone that hadn't really been in a fight before when he was a seasoned veteran, but afterwards, he'd obviously exerted himself a while, so he'd decided to sleep as they headed off to the Galactic Bazaar. Nero hadn't been awake when he received the call, so naturally there'd been a bit of groggginess about him when he looked at the message. And hey, taking a food crawler to a place to buy some music? Why the hell not? Hopefully, this time, they could get down to business without being attacked by another crawler and- Ah, who are we kidding here? Nero definitely wanted another chance at such a fight! No such occurrance, of course. No, this was definitely more chill, and as they were in the music store, the only real surprise was seeing a familiar cyborg from the battlefront that he could hardly mistake. No harm there, for sure, and by the time we reach this point, all fuck-ups forgotten and no worries. He even forgot that Laurey apparently had NO headaches now, even though that was clearly something she'd often had. Something strange...but then she was strange. Ah well.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now...

He stepped out of the music store.

"Later, guys! I'm gonna go find me a chainsaw!"

Avelyn had him pegged about what he'd put on a mech, no question. Not that it was a bad thing. He had certain tastes that were naturally influenced by his training, but then that was similarly-influenced by him being him. Maybe you're wondering just what the hell he did to those Ascendancy people back when he was 'recruited'. Well, try to imagine a Home Alone situation in which Macaulay Culkin isn't just out to injure the Wet Bandits, but outright kill them. It doesn't exactly work because they're in armored uniforms and he's still a kid, but the injuries incurred with things full of nails, random chemicals smeared all over stuff, his cutthroat attacks when they were distracted - you can imagine why the Ascendancy soldiers HATED him. It was kind of ironic that now that he was essentially a free mercenary that he was in a better mood now than any time in his youth. He was making a mental list of all the things he needed, all while carrying a tied-up box of laserdiscs he'd gotten from the music store.

Let's see, first a chainsaw, then new snacks, and then-

"Heppy Birthday."

"Eh?"

That was his Omnitool. It spoke up, out of the blue. He looked at it now.

"The fuck you going on about?"

"You are sixteen years of age at this time."

"What? Come on, there's nothing on file with that info. I don't even know when I was born."

"Bio-scans have been able to determine the exact age of this user's body. You are sixteen. Why not throw a party with friends and loved ones?"

"Ehh, I dunno... Never really celebrated that sorta' thing."

"That is sad. One moment. Now playing some complementary upbeat music in close match to your recent purchases."

There was a pause from the machine, and then it began to play...uhh what?

Was it trying to...cheer him up?

'Once all this is over, why don’t you buy a farm, as well as settle down with the...partner of your choice?'

Dammit, you and Flame... Okay, you get to stay on.

And so, with this playing, Nero headed off in search of the right kind of tool place to gain his coveted chainsaw. His Omnitool managed to point him in a direction, and now all he had to do was make his way around all the people without dropping or damaging the package in his hands. Laserdiscs were a bit fragile, and even the sturdiness of the box wouldn't protect them from everything. Nearest crawler was too crowded, so he was out walkin'. No big deal. He had a natural grace that'd be hard for Finbarr's cat-form to keep up. Well...that is until he found himself bumping into a trio of toughs, humans who looked like they had nothing better to do than grift and steal. There wasn't NO crime on this station, after all. Naturally, the leader was pissed.

"Watch where you're going, runt! Made me drop my cigarette... Well, you gonna apologize or what?"

"Hey, you're the taller one. You should watch out."

"That ain't how it works, kid. I'm large and in charge, so you fall in line."

"Oh, fuck off with that shit, dick-brain."

"What'd you call me?!"

He and his best mates approached him and started throwing punches. Nero was about to school them when he suddenly remembered what he was carrying and avoided strikes while looking the package out of reach, slipping in between the bastards as they kept trying to land a punch. Okay, they were better than Laurey when she started out - not as awkward - but he was getting them to friendly-fire one another, here and there, and then cloaked himself to merge with one of their shadows.

"What the fuck- Fan out and get that kid! I want 'im in a broken mess when we're done with 'im!"

They all took off in different directions. Once one of them was close-ish to the store he needed to get to, Nero slipped out and you'd see this package on the back of some shadowy animal - A grumpy-looking cat? - amble on into the store before changing back to him again, where the clerk was a little surprised, but he was a Korta who'd seen some shit in his time, so he wasn't too put out, especially since Nero was a potential customer with money to burn. He told that he wanted a chainsaw, a chainsaw that could saw so much that other chainsaws killed themselves with jealousy.

"I want a chainsaw that fucks shit up, lasts a good long time, and isn't a pain to carry, 'cause I still got shit to do today."

"Would sir prefer that I just send the item to his ship direct? There is only a small surcharge fee-"

"A what? You mean you guys deliver?"

"Why, yes. Everyone on this station delivers. It allows customers to keep shopping to their heart's content."

"Well, shit. They didn't tell me that before. Maybe I ran out too quickly... Yeah, this'll be sent to the Xuanzang, and do me a favor: Send this package too, alright?"

"Will do."

Nero ended up buying the Jaws-of-Slice Super-Cutter with self-sharpening chainsaw, a device shown to cut through pretty much all but tough alloys that was also able to collapse the chain section into the main chassis for easier transport. Comes with spare chains, cleaning kit, and decent warranty. Nero wasn't allowed to try it out there in the store, but he was happy, and as the Korta was in back sending off his items...the grifters found him.

"Alright, kid. Nowhere to run!"

They all charged him and...well...he just grinned and took them apart! No knives or anything dangerous. He just dodged them - kicking, punching, and flipping them so they'd end up on the ground in pain. He'd cracked some joints and ribs, and got a satisfying breaking of jaws on top of that! Nero stood amidst the mess they were now on the ground and smirked before wandering off.

"I need to get more snacks...and a cake."

Finbarr Callaghan

The Galactic Bazaar

Finbarr slept in his cat form within his quarters, curled up into a little ball of fur on those white sheets. He had chosen to take the form of the feline of terrible doom; a green eyed cat with fur as black as the darkest of nights. The superstitious would have refused to cross paths with him, lest they be cursed with a damnable fate in the future.

However, within that mind of his, he dreamed of what could be; a quiet farmhouse in the countryside, blue skies and white clouds up ahead. There was grilling of hog meat on the backyard... He could even smell it. On the fields, he frolicked with his future children. And of course, they had a dog. A big, proud golden retriever.

ring...

Finbarr sleep addled mind would be roused into wakefulness by the low him of his own Omni-Tool, interrupting his eight hours of sleep. He yawned as a cat, and picked it up as a human, stumbling a bit out of grogginess.

"Ah, by the emeralds. She's calling me to shop with her in the Bazaar..." Rubbing his palms together to produce some heat to put his head back into wakeful reality, Finbarr typed into the device, sending back a message to Narvia. "Coming. Give me a minute."

It was just shopping, so he went for elegant simplicity. He slipped himself on a grey and black coat over his white shirt, completing the look with slightly baggy trousers and a pair of shoes. Taking another minute, he combed his hair, making sure that the undercut that he had was still neat.

And, well, he walked out of the Xuanzang, still a little sleepy, but awake. "My, my." He approached Narvia with a low smirk. "For a shopper, you surely are well dressed. But, I guess we think alike. Shall we go now?"

Location: The Galactic Bazaar
Interaction: Finbarr @The Man Emperor
Mention:

Narvia’s omnitool made a noise, and she looks at it and sees that Finbarr response to her messages to him. She had a smile on her face, and it means that she’ll don’t have to wait too long outside of the Xuanzang in the Galactic Bazaar. It did cause her to try to think about other things, but she wants to be with her boyfriend and shopping with him. It is an excellent way to get shopping out of the way before they have to go on another mission by Moonstrike. ’ I’m happy for the first time in my life. Hopefully, I will not get any more nightmares.’ She thought to herself with a slight bit of trying to figure out if she had forgotten anything extra.

Narvia had been a bit distracted with her thoughts, but when the Xuanzang door opened, and she saw Finbarr come out. She smiles wonderfully and beautifully when she sees Finbarr and what he is wearing. It looks handsome on him. It didn’t take too long for her to recognize what he says and asks of her, and they should be going so they can shop. ” Hehe, same to you, Finbarr. I love this outfit I have on, and it’s so cute on me. Yes, we should go.” Narvia said. She wasn’t nervous at all about what’s going on right now. It was serenity and peace.

It didn’t take long for Narvia to get close to her boyfriend so they can stay close together while they travel through the Galactic Bazaar. Narvia wanted to shop and get a gift for Finbarr for helping her open up. ” I am so happy that we are together, Finbarr.” Narvia said cutely. It will probably take a long time to heal from all the self-made disasters that happened to her by her father’s plans. At least, right this second, Narvia feels happiness and never wants to let it go again as all the times she didn’t fight for it previously.

Narvia remembered one thing before they genuinely get down with shopping. ” Um, Finbarr, do you have anything you want to buy? While we are shopping.” Narvia said with a curious look on her face. She did want to know what he was going to shop for since she had something to buy for him. It is a fun thing to deal with, wondering what the other person will buy while at the Galactic Bazaar.

A Collab post with @FalloutJack

-Clap, Clap, Clap-

"Bravo, Bravo, An excellent display of technique over strength. People often overlook the value of such things, don't they? They oft tend to think of power as the only way to do things. Using brute force to get whatever they feel like is oft a bully's perception. Wouldn't you Agree?" Nero heard a girl's voice say from behind him, complete with the sound of a slow clapping in applause. Should Nero look behind, he would see a rather...odd duo walking towards him and the people he's beaten up.

The one talking was a girl, looked not that much older than him, maybe even the same age as him, wearing a rather old fashioned black lolita dress, complete with black high-heel slippers and silky gloves, a small top hat leaning to the left of her head, holding an indigo umbrella over her with purple leather gloves.

To her left was another person, slightly taller than the girl and Nero both, dressed up in a white hooded cloak. Most of the body was covered in it, but what could be seen was his face, his short blonde hair and blue eyes, and some of his rather odd sophisticated attire, starting with the white collar and blue tie seen through the hood, to the grey pants and brown leather shoes the white cloak couldn't reach.

"Ah great...another couple of freaks to go with this punk-ass..." One of the hooligans on the ground from Nero's attacks said, trying and failing to get up, still in pain from the beatdown.

"Well, I don't disagree, but...M'lady, are you certain this is wise, walking up to him like this? ...Erm, Just after a fight, I mean." The hooded man asked the girl, blatantly ignoring the voice of the downed hooligan. As a response, she put her fingers to her chin in contemplation, her heterochromia eyes of emerald and amber looking intently at Nero as if staring into his soul...or something like that.

"Hmm...Well, ...Yes, I think it's very wise. He did save us some trouble after all, it's only fair we thank him for it." She said in response with a smile, immediately lightening up as if faking the intensity of the staredown.

He had stopped when the voice seemed to address him, looking back with some idle interest and not - at first - knowing what the owner of said voice was going on about. Nero turned around to give whatever this was his full-ish attention. What were these two all about? Did they lose a bet? Why the odd arrangement? He responded to the question with an ”Uhh, sure.” response, scratching his head and…oh. Found one of the guys’ teeth in his hair. Must’ve been when he headbutted his lower jaw. Nero wasn’t exactly sure what to say to this for two very good reasons. Number one, while he had plenty of technique, there could be no question that he graduated from the School of Badass Rumble, kicking the crap out of anyone who gave him trouble. Just because he was smaller and more wiry than these guys didn’t mean he didn’t exercise as much brutality as agility. Number two was that he had NO fricking clue why the lolita and the cultist wannabe were even talking to him...yet. It took him a moment, but Nero smirked at the pair now.

”Oh, I get it now. Bounty hunters. Yeah, sure, all in a day’s work or some shit.”

He didn’t actually give a damn. Maybe it was just because they were weird, but he didn’t really wanna be involved in whatever they were doing. Looked like something they’d insist on him wearing a funny hat for, and that was gonna be a straight-up NO.

Bounty Hunters, you say? ...Well, I suppose you’re not too far off. You’ve certainly saved us a lot of trouble, considering these three were three of our targets, Escapees from the Circle of Hell prison ship. ...Three of a most unfortunate few that escaped the Planet it crashed on… Oh, what was its name again… Plenty? ...Oh, I didn’t mean to scare you with that little bit of bad news. You really needn’t worry, it hasn’t been put on the news yet, but we managed to round up a majority of the criminals that escaped. These are but a small few that managed to escape our grasp. We’ll be capturing the rest of them soon, so you can rest easy tonight. ...Honestly, it shouldn’t have gotten this bad. If we could have focused on it, none of them would have left there, not free or alive, anyways. Unfortunately, of all the luck, this happens right in the middle of a blasted rebellion of all things. It’s just one thing after another... The girl ranted as she walked forward, purposely stepping on the three he beat up with her high-heels, making them screech in pain. The hooded man simply walked around them as he followed her.

Mmm, Madam, If I may, aren’t speaking a touch too much on confidential affairs?” The man asked her, trying to keep his voice low.

I’m only going into as much as what the media does, nothing I say is anything he won’t hear later on anyways, Consider it a sneak preview in gratitude for his service. After all, ...he couldn’t possibly know of this beforehand, right?” She asked him, once again looking directly at Nero as she said her last sentence.

The mention of Plenty and the Circle of Hell didn’t narrow his gaze because of that. It was more the thought, all of a sudden, that these two could’ve been working for the crow-boy with the shiny sword. Not such the case, it would seem. The girl seemed to be going on and on about her troubles finding these people, as they’d escaped and she was there to round them up, not him. Not that he could’ve been so-easily identified...except by his fighting style. Well, as it happened, not here for him, probably just a coincid- No, it’s not. She definitely was in the know, somehow. The way she walked up and stared him right in the eye while seemingly daring him to either own up or deny having any knowledge of what went down in Plenty town said it all. Nero put on a big smile now.

”As I said to a friend of mine earlier, I ain’t got no interest in farming.”

He was full of it, lying to her face, and she would know it. She knew it even before she walked in on him, and she wanted to hear him say what he said. These two might’ve been trouble, after all, despite what they said. There was something...ahh, what? Familiar? Yeah, that was a good word for it. He didn’t know ‘er, though. All his memories worked and she wasn’t on his shit-list yet, so what was this all about?

Indeed she could tell that this one was lying, he knows it. His statement neither confirmed nor denied her subliminal accusation on his whereabouts...well, that was fine. She may not know why he was there, but she knows he was without a doubt. That spike in underworld magic she sensed back then during her raid on one of the rebel bases on Plenty was no lie. The fact he would make such a throw-away line as that was good enough for her to at least work under the assumption he was there.

No interest in farming…? Well, me neither.” She said, at first with a smile on her face before then relaxing her expression and turning around. “I respect the working man as much as anyone should, but such activities are a bit too rough on these sensitive hands. These farmers go through enough during their time without a band of reckless misfits running about making things worse for them. Which is why I’ve taken to hunt down as many of them as I can and bring them back to Planet Alca where they belong.” She said, walking back as she talked, once again stepping on the group. If Nero had good ears, he could probably hear the sound of snapping and popping coming from them as she did. She then turned around again looking towards Nero, this time with a rather solemn expression.

Sadly, there’s a few of these criminals that are more…difficult to find and capture for one reason or another. We will find them sooner or later, of course, but I’m beginning to think our normal approach may not work all that well.“ She said, an especially painful stomp on one of the hoodlums at the word Difficult, before she then sat on the three like a makeshift throne, twirling her fingers about as she spoke. The hooded one walked to her side, a look of shocked disturbance on his face.

Madam, please, there’s little reason to go this far giving info to this person we don’t even know!” The man whispered.

All I am saying, is that we need some information to help with the search, it’s a classic tactic of investigation.” She said, suddenly having a cup of tea in hand of which she sips...where the hell did she get that from?

Then might I suggest we stop beating around the bush before we start slipping into a troublesome territory?” He asked as she kept sipping her tea.

I suppose you’re right… Have you by chance encountered anyone strange lately? ...Present company excluded? ...Specifically, we’re looking for a boy, about your age and… how do I put this… Well, let’s just say he’s special. May have been backed by aliens? Know of anyone with any peculiar…abilities?” She asked Nero.

Genuine confusion here. Apart from the girl’s mode of speech - that dichotomy of sophistication and sadism towards a perceived foe - she started talking about things that were a bit outside of Nero’s personal knowledge. The tea was also a bit of a throw, but that wasn’t what was important. Fact is, the young assassin was having a hard time trying to figure if she had him and his crew in mind or Squad 0 or somebody else. Was Moonstrike backed by aliens? He honestly couldn’t remember...because he just didn’t care! I mean, she could’ve been talking about Crowley, but how would he begin to know for sure or figure out a good way to put the heat on ‘im without implicating himself? It didn’t help that he hadn’t really paid much attention to his current crew enough to even know if they were being implicated either.

”Ya think you could be a bit more specific on what you're looking for? ”Special’ and working with aliens covers alot of ground. I ain’t got time in my life to play guessing games. Why doncha’ take your guy’s advice and just cut to the chase, already?”

Yeah, he heard the guy muttering away, even though the guy was trying to keep himself muffled. The lack of patience made the blondey’s words carry. So yeah, Nero was saying that she should just lay it out plain for him or leave him alone.

Does it now?” She asked, giving a little chuckle at his response.

Very well. A few prisoners of the Circle of Hell with exceptional, outright magical abilities, escaped from Plenty alongside the riff-raff below me, and are now with other similarly gifted criminals, one of which was said to produce white-hot flames combusted from his own body. We know that they are here - in one of the most popular areas in the Ascendancy - for reasons I can’t possibly fathom.” The girl explained.

Not that he really needed her to be more specific, per se, but that he was getting rather impatient about his time being taken up by this girl who seemed to have some idea of what he was and may or may not be after him and the crew of the Xuanzang. It seemed right to just get her to confirm whether he needed to attack her right now or not, hence why he asked. The answer uhh...didn’t ring any actual bells, funnily enough. He kinda’ forgot what some of the wayward Star Marines he’d been around did, you see, and he hadn’t seen many people while aboard the Circle of Hell that weren’t guards he’d taken out or the Blue Crow and company. So really, he couldn’t think of who she was talking about and shook his head.

”Nah, I would’ve noticed white freakin’ flames or anything like that. We done here? I still got shit to do.”

He hadn’t gotten his snacks yet, dammit!

Hmm...I see. Well, that’s a dead end then. I appreciate the cooperation. If you garner any information on the matter, do let me know, I’m a rather easy person to find when I want to be. Sir, get these ruffians ready for transport.” She said. Whether she actually believed his answer or not, it seemed she was content to accept it easily enough. The hooded man beside her breathed a sigh of relief that she did not dig deeper into this info trade. He had no idea how far down the confidentiality rabbit hole she’d have stepped further into before she got in trouble. In response to her order, he picked up the three and was about to secure them.

But just as he was ready to leave with them…

Oh, there is one more thing, actually.

Oh, Goddammit…

Apologies, but I promise this is the last thing I feel the need to ask. Would you happen to have heard anything about a stolen AI program? It seems that was unfortunately taken during the skirmish on the Circle of Hell as well. I’m not really knowledgeable when it comes to advanced technology, so it’s difficult to explain why it’s relevant. It’s an AI, so I imagine it’s due to what information it may hold. More importantly, ...Let’s just say it has been very dangerous when it was loose, it’s imperative we get it back before it causes anymore harm.” The girl said.

Yup, that clinches it. She was hired by their enemy to find them, but Nero decided to remain playing dumb on this. His actual response was to give her the most incredulous look you could ever give someone, snort with amusement, and say ”A stolen AI? Get real!”, before laughing. He’d been kinda’ surprised by all of this, but he was playing it off as well as he was because he had a certain level of street etiquette that made him seem like just another schmoe doing nothing out of the ordinary.

”No one would ever believe a story like this. A girl in fancy dress with her cultist pal are out looking for prisoners escaped from a prison ship around the food planet, and on top of that they’re looking for a rogue computer program? Come on… I don’t know shit like that! I’m just a dude shopping!”

Wow, tell the whole world, why don’t you, Nero? Oh wait, that might’ve been the point. He wanted to make the guy in the robe sweat about how their not-very-covert activities were going to get out a little too soon, and want to beat a hasty retreat.

The “cultist” looked like he was going to say something about what Nero just said, but hesitated and chose to say nothing. To be fair, it was understandable that of him as a cultist, what with the whole hooded cloak and all, and so he couldn’t help but give a look that just said “Touche’”.

The girl, on the other hand, gave a few blinks in silence at the response Nero gave, before pressing her hand to her mouth to contain her laughter.

You’re a funny guy, funny and interesting. I ask about people with special, outright magical powers, even about one that can combust white flames, and you don’t bat an eye. But the more real and often seen occurrence of an AI being stolen, that’s the point of no return for your suspension of disbelief? You have a rather...unique perspective on things, don’t you? ...Not that I mind it. People like you keeps people like us on our toes, make things entertaining and interesting.” She said, a child-like smile to match her child-like appearance.

While the two were...for lack of a better word, flabbergasted by Nero’s response one of the ruffians thought it was a good idea to get out of there, pulling a knife out and dashing towards the little lady.

As if sensing his approach, the girl’s smile immediately turned to a frown of, what could only be described as solemn boredom.

I ain’t going back to Alca, you gothic freaky bi-” He didn’t even finish his sentence before he noticed something was very wrong. With what appeared to be just a flick of a couple of fingers by the girl, the punk’s knife holding arm was removed from the rest of his body, blood splashing out and covering the top of her umbrella. If Nero had good eyesight, he would notice right then how this happened, as light seemed to reflect off what appeared to be strings around the, as well as the punk. It seemed the poor bastard got caught in monomolecular fiber cords, not just him but the other two as well unknowingly. It seems that was why she was moving back and forth through the ruffians, like a spider spinning her web, she was tangling up her prisoners.

She looked down towards the injured man, his screams muffled by the “cultist” covering his mouth.

Relax, We’ll have that cauterize as soon as possible. Be thankful we live in an age where a limb can easily be replaced if need be. But pull a stunt like that before we leave, and especially in a crowded area as opposed to here, where people could get hurt…And the next thing I remove, you won’t replace.” She told him with a cold stare. It seemed this was enough for the other two to get in line and comply with the Cultist. Her head turned back to Nero, and once again there was a smile on his face.

Sorry about that, Now where was I…? Oh yes, The AI… Well, disbelief aside, if you don’t know about that either, then we’ll have to go looking elsewhere for it. Thank you for your cooperation, if you find out anything about the AI or any other escapees, do let us know. ...Ah, My, how rude of me, I spoke all this time and I’ve yet to introduce myself. ...I am Madam Nuletta of Nyx. This hefty hooded fellow is my partner, Sir Zebul of Baal. Ask a soldier, and they’ll tell you where to find us. Now then, we should get these three moving before another starts trying to escape.” She said, finally introducing themselves to this young man. She turned to the cultist, “Zebul”, and the two decided to walk off, Zebul relieved that this potential nightmare was over. She then stopped and looked towards Nero again.

May we meet again, Nero.” She told him, and without seeing his response to that, she turned and ran off.

Believe it or not, Nero enjoyed the display, although some of that reminded him a little of the chain girl of Squad 0 when the girl here was messing with those monowires. Still, his amusement was unexpectedly shut down when she mentioned his name. All the other stuff, he could let go and claim to have no knowledge of, but then she revealed that she knew of him, somehow. THAT surprised him, although she hadn’t seen the look on his face, the sudden eyes-widening and general WTF-ness. There was ALOT to examine here, and almost a guarantee that he wasn’t going to remember those ridiculous names…

Good thing he recorded that shit with his Omnitool!

Alexander Kherol

The High School Lecture Meeting

ANS Manfred von Richthofen. Conference room.

The room was tranquil quiet, as the last of the civilian crew members left the room to their next assignment or stood at attention by the door outside in case any issue evolved throughout the meeting. A meeting between some of the Ascendancy's most powerful men and women.

One by one the key members logged into the conference room, the time of arrival varied perfectly reflecting their personality. But despite everyone there, the Grand Admiral was still not yet content to begin the meeting.

"Uhh, still waiting on someone?" His captain Carina Sansonetti poked Alexander in his arm.

"Yeah. I didn't expect him for today, but why not let him join as well. He should be here any minute now."

A proud warrior and youngest man in active command in the Ascendancy military. Quite a peculiar fellow, but enthusiastic and very loyal. Kotaro Winterborn

Any Admiral in this situation in Kherol's fleet would be walking into their Grand Admiral's ship proud and eager to report their success. The Rebellion on Plenty was just about over, Their leaders gone, their soldiers outgunned and forced to surrender, and all while also rounding up escaped convicts from an unexpected crash landing of the most infamously secure prison ship on the entire Ascendancy fleet. There were a few escapees - some of which escaped right before his eyes - but he already sent two of his unit to chase them down and round them up as well, and third only to his fellow Admirals and Grand Admiral Kherol himself, the Paladins were those he had nothing but faith in the talents and quality of.

It wasn't a perfect, supreme victory, but it was a victory nonetheless.

Yet, it's been a while since Kotaro felt this down. Peaceful negotiations failed, the criminals stole from and killed innocent people who were already having a rough time trying to live peacefully amidst the civil war that transpired, and more soldiers and rebelling farmers died than necessary. Some of them died right in front of him thanks to that gun-slinging traitorous bastard, Joseph Albion, and he couldn't even capture them.

The other Paladins, particularly a trio of what can only be described as clowns wrapped in Dazzle Camouflage cloaks of Red, Green, and Blue, were essentially pulling a comedy act in front of him as he walked to help cheer him up, the shortest of which banged the other two's heads together to silence them, the yellow-cloaked boy appeared beside him as they walked.

"Look, Boss. I know this turned real sour after the fact, but you can't let it get to you, ok? We're only human after all, we all make mistakes, and we all can't always be at the right place at the right time." The boy said, before another cloaked boy, one with a Cyan cloak clearly around his late teens, looked towards him.

"But this is war, Crys. People were bound to die, whether they deserved it or not. Our Lord has to accept that, not just as a Vice-Admiral, but as a Soldier." He bluntly said. The yellow-cloaked boy, "Crys", simply looked disapprovingly at him in response, with a Magenta-cloaked boy also looking at them, holding up his hands as if to quell the potential fire that could ignite between the other two.

"I think what Seidon means is, be thankful we saved who we could, and mourn for who we couldn't."

"That's not-"

"A lot more people could have died from this rampage if it wasn't for you managing things in the place of that psycho. I'm almost certain he would have let those crooks steal from and kill those farmers and villagers if not for you taking command away. We did all we could and prevented the worst case scenario...So please don't beat yourself up over what you couldn't do, Lord Kotaro." He said, that gentle tone of voice you don't often find in soldiers these days.

"Talk over me again, Ein, see what happens!" the blue-cloaked Seidon said, a fearful smile on the magenta-cloaked Ein's face. The shortest of the clowns, about the same size as Crys, dressed in a green dazzle cloak, jumped up and slapped both Seidon and Ein to stop their little conflict. They were about to be in the presence of their superiors, after all.

Still, Kotaro couldn't help but crack a smile at his comrades...Seidon may have been blunt, but he and the rest of them said what needed to be said. This was a Civil War, the neutralizing of a rebel force made worse by the escaped inmates causing further havoc. People were going to die no matter what he did; he can't save everyone, but his actions kept further deaths as low as he possibly could.

"My oh my, I leave for about a day or two, and you lot are already at each other's throats. ...I suppose it is acting within your ages though." A voice said as the girl from before, Nuletta, and her partner Zebul, appeared to them as they walked. Well, not necessarily to them, though they were moving with them, they weren't moving a muscle, their translucent bodies simply floating still at the same speed as the rest of them. This is because they were holograms, moving thanks to a rail on the ceiling of the hall moving the projector to match the speed of the group.

Zebul was still covered in a white cloak, while Nuletta seemed to have placed a black cloak over her dress. Now, they both look like cultists...but she supposes the same could be said for the rest of them.

"Oh, Hello Nuletta, Status report?" Kotaro asked her.

"I arrived some time ago at the last location of our targets. It seems they made their way to the Galactic Bazaar. I don't quite understand why they'd come here of all places, but sure enough, I happened upon three of these lowlives already."

"Any trouble?"

"Well, aside from being unable to find the other prisoners as of yet, things were actually quite smooth, a certain someone had a beef with them and essentially rounded them up for us. ...Now I got your signal, what's this all about, M'Lord?" Nuletta replied.

"Grand Admiral Kherol arranged a meeting. He wanted us to come along for it. It might have to do with a report regarding what happened here."

"I see...Very well, If the Grand Admiral asks for us, we must heed the call. We don't have much of a lead at the moment anyways, and our targets haven't made their move as of yet, so the timing's quite perfect." Nuletta said. With that, all of them took a position side-by-side with each other, and moved onto the Conference room of the ship.

Eight of them walked in first, two lines of four with a space in the center, before each one made a step in front of the others, making the lines go from horizontal to outer-diagonal, looking towards the Grand Admiral and the other members of his fleet. They all took off their hoods, and bowed to them. Walking in last at the center was Kotaro himself, walking towards the front and saluting to the Grand Admiral and to those gathered here for the meeting.

"The Paladins have assembled, Sir!" Kotaro announced.

The Paladins of Kherol... A group of nine outright superhuman agents and enforcers, loyal only to their leader, Kotaro Winterborn, and to Kherol and any he deems worthy of loyalty. Unlike the other members of Kherol's inner circle, and save for Kotaro Winterborn himself, the paladins have no military authority beyond their agency to Kherol. They are rankless, and - with exceptions - are nowhere near the level of tactical or strategic prowess as Kherol's admirals. Instead, their role is to be the enforcer, hunters, and frontliners of his will and the secretive destroyers of his enemies. Under Kotaro's command, they often protect civilians from the shadows, and destroy elements that pose a major threat to them. Hence the name Paladin, they are essentially honorable knights who swore their proverbial sword to Kherol. It got to a point where they've become essentially an urban legend among the Ascendancy.

Each one was sired by Kotaro, and given a different name, according to their specialty, and under a pagan god of ancient earth as a symbol of what could be watching over them, and a colored cloak.

“Hmm. Just in time.”The Grand Admiral gave the nine individuals a nod to acknowledge their timeliness. “Come. You might have heard or even worked under these fine ladies and gentlemen.”

One by one, in a clockwise manner, the admirals and generals gave their introduction, to each the variety. Annette and Faro were just a quick nod/salute and stating their names, while Antony, the most gigantic in the room with curly locks, gave a rather elegant and extravagant bow, along with his usual flowery language. Lan introduced last, and she seemed rather itching curious.

“So you guys are the Space Circus, eh? Heard a lot about ye.” Was the first word out of her mouth after letting her names be known. The others immediately glanced at her as if she had committed some cardinal sin. “What? It’s true. Look at how colorful they are! A circus can still be good at its job.”

As strange as it was, the vanguard general of the fleet had never actually commanded any of them throughout the Rau’ve war. She’s heard stories, but a little rumor wouldn’t get in her way of making up funny comparisons. And she was filterless enough to let it echo. The same applies for everyone she knew.

“But didn’t you say this is an officer meeting? Are they involved somehow?”

“Well…” Alexander replied, shrugging his shoulders. “Not really. It’s kinda a coincidence that they’re here the same time as Kotaro, so it’s a good time to properly introduce them.” He then turned to the colorful collections. “You guys can stay if you want to.”

The Paladins nodded, saying “Sir!” in unison as military acknowledgement.

"Right, I'll cut to the chase so as not to waste your Friday evening." Alexander opened. "The rebellion on Plenty has been put down, the rogue remnants of Berkeley's fleet destroyed, but I fear that the crisis might not be over."

The admirals all exchanged glances at the statement. All except for the most hot-headed of the bunch.

"You mean more rebels? Sure. Tell me where they are and I'll collect their payments for existing!" Lan declared, slamming her hands on the table.

"Well, I appreciate the enthusiasm." The Grand Admiral chuckled at the joke, but he promptly calmed her with a handwave. "But we are not sure of the status. This is me extrapolating from gut instincts."

"Then what's the logic?" The coarse voice of the old general and instructor echoed, as demanding as ever.

"Two things. One is the dubious presence of this Windsor's Autonomous Trading Fleet. Their fleet size is quite, to be honest, concerning. And their attitude has been increasingly hostile towards the Ascendancy thus far. Lately, their members have been attempting to crash the stock markets of the Ascendancy. Now I know this is FAAARR from concrete evidence, but it's worth considering." Alexander said. "Second...well Kotaro go ahead."

“...So essentially, the tax was what started the wind, and some fools turned it into a storm.” Faro was silent for quite some time, summarizing the presentation for the others, who had now made themselves comfortable in their seats, before turning for Annette. “I assume you have this in our system.”

“Yeah. It’s new, but the intelligence sector is making progress with them. Hopefully we’ll have something soon.” Annette replied. “My and Kherol’s concern is mostly on that tax loophole. This is no religious or racial issue.”

“The system’s rigged.” Faro could not say he was surprised. If anything he should know this the best. “Anything else?”

If the first half of the presentation already took a while for Faro to compile and summarize, midway through the second, the commanders were visibly struggling to keep up. Lan was overwhelmed with the logical progression that her head was basically on her arm. Antony was throwing his legs on the table. Annette already knew everything and was just counting minutes on her watch at this point. Faro, the only one maintaining his elegance, was stoically listening and trying to put the rambling together. Alexander was the only one unreadable, thankfully as his eyes were never seen. But Annette could feel his unseeable gaze. She nodded quickly and stood up just as Kotaro finished.

“The abridge version is: This ship is deliberately sabotaged. In the investigation, we uncovered suspected connections to rebel organizations. Moonstrike, and maybe a gang of pirates. We’re not sure as of yet. So...”

The light-haired woman was in the midst of a hand gesture as she said that, and repeated it several times, staring intently at her colleague lying flat on her table on her flagship.

"So...from this I assume," Lan said, finally awakened from her stupor. "we will not be demobilizing our newest 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th any time soon." To Alexander and Annette’s nonchalant nod. "I mean not that we'd want to do it anyway."

"Yes and this would be a perfect excuse to stick it to the Senate." Faro smirked, a sideway glance to match his contempt.

"Ok, so to quickly cap this off...Lan, your work here is the simplest of us all." Alexander, too having felt the length of this, began with the one whom he knew were only good for the dirty work, but was really good at it. "Just get these green greens into real soldiers. Also keep the rest of your Battle Groups in top shape. Same goes for everyone here with a command."

"Aye." The general in question gave a salute, yet accompanied with an informal tone.

"Faro." Now to his most trusted chief of staff. "How long is it going to take the cartography team to materialize the operational map of the Ascendancy?"

"The Ascendancy..." The Old Guard bit his lips for several seconds. "Since info is a lot more up to date and transparent with Ascendancy maps, I would say 2-3 days."

"Perfect, as soon as it’s reaady, have them submit the maps to Antony, Annette." As their names were called, the other two stood at attention. "This is going to be tricky, but..."

Alexander reached for the computer panels and forwarded several files to the two individuals. "After the maps are submitted, you're going to formulate formal legislation. And make sure this doesn't die in the Senate House."

Leaving the two a moment to digest the whole thing, the Grand Admiral turned to Kotaro and the remaining Paladins and gave each of them a salute.

“Thank you for the report. You’re free to go.”

Sir Yes Sir!” The Paladins all said. Nuletta and Zebul switched off the holograms and the Paladins - some aware of how the Admirals treated the report, some weren’t so - walked out of the Conference room, at least one of them seemed to be chuckling and cracking a joke at Ein’s expense. Not that he or Kotaro minded. Ein never really managed to read the room around him when it comes to his passion, this was known, and some- Seidon especially - saw it coming. In Kotaro’s case, it was more that he raised himself as to believe that he needed to report with as much detail as he could. Admittingly, it’s more become a habit than anything else.

In any case, with this report, the rebellion he has been witnessing for two weeks was officially over. As much as he wanted to stay and help the planet recover, it was best to leave it for people more capable… The farmers are likely not wanting help from him anyways after all that transpired. Besides, there were things he now needed to look into. As for the rest of the Paladins, except for Nuletta and Zebul, they were essentially on stand-by until he, Kherol, or any of his Admirals, had a need for them, choosing to make good with their moments of relief.

Meanwhile, the two commanders in the room exchanged glances with one another again as they read through the files. Annette was quiet, but Antony was visibly concerned. From a little head scratch, head tilt then a palm on his temple, the dashing looking flamboyant commander finally turned away from it and got serious.

"I won't lie, my dear Alexander." Antony shook his head as he leaned his hands on the table. "If there's any rumors in the Senate before that you're trying to buy yourself a crown, it certainly is clear now."

Galactic Bazaar - Marketplace district

"Well... That happened." This was all Maria could think of when she saw Alan - her guide to getting a good roof seat - ran off chasing after an old cowardly friend and leaving her behind. Not that she minded that though, him being there was a convenience for her and not much more.

Thus, sticking to her original plan, Maria wandered around the area mostly looking at the skyline to see if there was any rooftops worth heading up to.

She found a building suitable to her; nice, tall, and seemed emptied out for a time. As she was walking towards the roof however, she heard something in the building's middle-most floor. Curious, she snuck just outside the they were in and decided to eavesdrop. It was a group of three sitting opposite to each other three-to-two on a round table in an otherwise abandoned and messed up room. It seemed she stumbled on a condemned building, the kind that seedy business types are often seen doing business in.

To one side was a boy and a girl, about the age of her comrades, the boy looking slightly younger than the girl. She couldn't make out their attire exactly, but she could tell one had black hair, and the other had a sapphire blue.

To the other side, was a small man in a suit with a couple of armed brutes on both sides of him. Giving the impression of being a crime lord. She couldn't make out their voices, and their minds are just filled with thoughts of the boy and the don backstabbing each other sooner or later. The girl, on the other hand, was difficult to make out, possibly due to the long range.

However, there was one thing she could hear that caught her attention.

"These are gifts, from us to you, courtesy of Moonstrike."

Courtesy of Moonstrike? Were those two a part of Moonstrike...? No, it didn't seem like it. The way the boy phrased that suggested he was some outside force...

Before she could think on it more, she heard something in her mind.

"Hey Maria, Where are you right now?" The voice said. It was Alan's voice. While he doesn't have telepathy, Maria used her own to make a telepathic network of sorts between the Star Marines back during the war, using herself as the core keeping it up. All her allies had to do was say her name, and use their mind as a transmitter and receiver, and she could pick up messages from them and send messages herself.

She looked towards the deal happening in the other room. This was something to think of for another time. Whoever they were - friend or foe - Moonstrike One will likely mention them when asked either way.

"Still trying to find a good scenic spot on the rooftops. ...Did you catch Klein?" She asked Alan, walking down the stairs and towards the entrance of the building.

"Who do you take me for? Course I did. Guy says he's going to join us, but I want a good scan of his head first just in case." Alan responded. Maria couldn't help but give a sigh. She already tapped into Klein's mind while she was in eye contact with him. She could only see so much from such a quick look around, granted, but from what she saw, there didn't seem to be much to worry about. Still, may not hurt to have a good thorough scan just in case.

She exited out of the building and noticed people around her looking towards something in sheer awe and fear, some of them running away screaming. She looked towards the direction they were looking at, only to find...

"Ah, there you are. See, Klein, what'd I tell ya? She always pops out in the nick of time." Alan said, very nonchalantly given what's happening...

Alan's arm was on fire. White fire at that. By the looks of things, it didn't seem like Alan noticed, perhaps his own magic enveloping him doesn't cause any pain. More importantly, his arm was on fire in public, in the middle of the street. Not even she could imagine what must be going through Klein's head to see Alan just walking around in broad daylight in a town of thousands with white flames moving up his right arm, encompassing the right side of his chest.

"Explain... Now." Maria simply said. Though the way she said it was in a deadpan tone to match the deadpan expression on her face, it was still rather easy to tell: She was pissed.

"Hmmm...? ...Oh, ...Right. Long story short: Turned it on to make a point to Klein here, and now I can't seem to turn it off. Every time I try to force it to turn off, it gets even worse. ...Oh, and now both arms are on fire, ...Okay!" He said as he suddenly noticed his left arm was now matching the right. Maria put her hand to her face; one would assume as a reaction of shock, but in actuality, it was to contemplate on what was going on with him. This was bad... Alan was lighting up like a human bonfire, and everyone around them was seeing them as a bunch of freaks, monsters, and/or aliens by proxy. Clearly it wasn't something he was in control of, but it's definitely his magic - his lacking of pain to his now burning arms proved this - so it's not like he's been infected by another's...

"...By another's?"

"...Ummm...Everyone like my Act? Just down here to promote the circus in town and...accidently got too carried away on the oil. Don't try this at home, hehe... Come on, come on, come on...turn off, damn you." Alan said, at first trying to write it off as a freak show performance to try and keep people from being scared of him, before then whispering to himself to turn the flames off.

...It did not work, and if anything, it started to get worse as he suddenly became a bit nauseous, white flames suddenly coming out of his mouth at unspecific intervals like the breath of a dragon. He turned his head to the floor as soon as he figured that out to keep from hurting anyone on accident, and the flames were enough to shoot him up and hover off the ground for a few second crashing back down a flaming mess. The flames continuing to slowly explode outward, yelps of fright echoed throughout.

"This reaction... If I'm right... Alan, stand up, raise your arms and look towards the sky." Maria said.

"The hell...? Now's...-Cough- -Cough- not the time for stretches, little lady." He said as he slowly got up, spitting up white plasma-like slime from his mouth that erupted into a flame of its own.

"Just do it!" Maria said, trying clearly to be as stern as her static voice and expression can make her. Not having much to lose, Alan slowly did as he was told; he looked towards the sky, and stretched his burning arms as high as he could. He could feel the energy building up within him getting focused into his arms and head.

"Oohhhhh, SHHIIIIIIII-" Was all he could say as all the built-up energy suddenly burst forth from his hands and mouth, creating a giant pillar of white flames shooting towards the top of the dome, tall enough to where just about everyone in the Bazaar could see it, and all of the civilians began look in awe and dread. The civilians around Alan, Klein, and Maria in particular now running away in panic. The Bazaar's Security department and law enforcers saw what happened and were effectively on the move towards the source.

Meanwhile, at the northern part of the Bazaar, where some of the more important buildings reside, including a Stock Trading Center, the security there had effectively saw the pillar as well and an alert was called asking for all forces to come through. A couple of guards stayed behind to guard the trade center.

...Bad luck for them.

As they stared at the pillar of white flames in the distance, they heard what appeared to be a hiccup, and looked towards the right, seeing some boy in a lavish red velvet coat, moving erratically on shaky legs and with some goofy smile on his face; basically, a drunkard.

"Aye! 'Ello Guvnors! ...Any of you two know where I can find a good bar at?" The drunken man(?) said in a rather gritty cockney accent, looking closer, he looked quite young, no older than maybe 16...wearing an ancient captain's hat, and an eyepatch, one would assume he's out trick-or-treating early.

"...I think you've had enough already. You got an ID, boy? You look a little young for a drunk."

"Wh-Wha-No, Not for a swig of the good ol' rum, just some cheap food to fill me up. Just pulled some muscles and blew me load - not...in that way - and I am abso-flutely-flamished." The poor kid on his shaky legs looked like he was a brisk wind away from just collapsing on to the ground. Didn't take long before that actually happened. Prompting one of them to run off towards him.

"Hey, You alright, kid?" Said guard asked. The boy's eye were practically spinning in circles as if his whole world was spinning out of control. The guy tried to do what first aid he could for him, until he suddenly felt a sharp pain of his own, as from behind him, something large bit onto his arm, he couldn't see what it was before a sudden rush of searing pain like nothing he ever felt before coursed through his arm and his entire body, too painful to even scream as he himself went on the ground, he couldn't see what it was that bit him, before he went unconscious. But he could see a faint shadow of what it was on his last moments of consciousness...

And what it was: a giant lizard, painted in a reticulated pattern of orange and black, humanoid much like a Karusian. But whereas Karusians were more akin to dragons, this one was more a humanoid form of an actual lizard. More accurately, he was a giant muscular Gila monster, in torn grey jeans and a fur-loined bomber jacket. The sleeves of which were removed, likely to not get in the way of the other factor of this giant lizard man, the sleek black metal contraptions that could be described as his arms.

The other guard was better off in comparison, a tiny robot snuck on him while he was about to head over to save his partner, tasering him with electricity and knocking him unconscious. From out of the shadows, an old man in a white coat to match his equally silver hair and mustache slowly walked out to stare at him, grab the bot, and then look towards the Lizard.

The boy in question was none other than the Pirate that entered the Circle of Hell and escaped, Arron Falcon.

Making the old man the now-confirmed accomplice, Professor Audric Abreo.

This third one, the lizard, was an unknown however. But most likely, it was the one Kotaro and Ein caught on the Security camera that day.

"A bit excessive, don't you think? Casualties to a minimum and all..." Professor Abreo said. The lizard sighed and looked at the old man with his brown eyes.

"He'll live, The venom's powerful, but non-lethal. ...He'll just wish he was dead for a while. Besides, I do what I need to." The lizard said in response. The professor sighed and shrugged.

"...Fair enough. Still seems a little extreme, but we don't have time to discuss ethics. Grab the captain and come inside. We got work to do." Abreo walked into the Trade Center right after saying this. In response, the Lizard nodded and grabbed the mumbling Arron Falcon by the right leg and dragged him inside the Trade Center. Arron mumbling a song all the while.

"~And they sailed their ship cross the ocean blue, a bloodthirsty captain and cutthroat crew. It's as dark a tale as was ever told, of the lust for treasure and the love of gold~"

GM Post - Ashton and Flame

Ashton and Flame, having had their laserdiscs and a few musical instruments delivered to the Xuanzang, were now looking for a place to catch up with Jude, having decided to accompany him home to the Xuanzang.

Then they saw the pillar of white fire from some distance away and Flame said, "Damnit. It's either us, the Ascendancy, or miscellaneous terrorists. Either way, we need to warn the others - Ashton?!"

His boyfriend was already looking at the pillar, a bad idea considering the fact that it could be radioactive, and taking a moment to concentrate, a long moment to use Supernal Vision. Then he said to Flame, "It's World Magic, but much amplified as if someone pumped in a lot of Mana." His face turned firm as he said, "Let's go - Maybe we can do something."

As he began running towards the source of the danger, Flame, already activating his 'Prenatural Calmness' spell (he had taken that instead of a Nuking spell - That can be learned later) said using the telepathic link being lent to them, <Maria! Are you here? Tell me what's happening with the pillar of fire! Also, send a message to every one of our crew in the Bazaar to rendezvous in the Pillar of Fire!>

Just in case Maria was somehow incapacitated, Flame would also send a voicemail to his' and the others' omni-tools, saying, "There's a Pillar of Fire in Sector North! One of us is at fault! Help us put it out and then flee the Bazaar at once - Security will not look kindly on what we're going to do!"

Ashton, meanwhile, was making a few automated purchases, ones which relied on his Omni-tool and access to autonomous delivery drones. One of the latter flew overhead and dropped three hoverscooters/airspeeders in front of them, which both kids hopped on and began driving towards the flaming pillar (it was up to Jude if he wanted his'). The second purchase, meanwhile, would be dropped off at where the Pillar of Fire was, and contain several containers of high-grade fire-extinguishing foam which was resistant to radiation as well.

"Maria!" Ashton said, before shifting to the borrowed telepathic link, <We just ordered several containers of high-grade fire extinguisher - The type which can put out flaming lava - Dropped off to the site of the incident! Are you okay?> Then shifting gears to talk to Jude and Finbarr in his mind, Ashton added, <Jude, we might need the Stasis power if I remember right about you having it, while as for you, Finbarr, we're going to need an escape route back to the ship as soon as possible, so rendezvous with us so we can flee!>

Why were they going to flee again? Because Bazaar Security in gunships and old-fashioned ground vehicles (which were cheaper and less vulnerable to counterattack than hovering speeders), was already flying towards Alan and the pillar of fire, saying, "Attention! Attention! You kids are under arrest for Suspected Terrorism and Unauthorized Magic Use!"

Finbarr Callaghan

The Galactic Bazaar

Narvia remembered one thing before they genuinely get down with shopping. ” Um, Finbarr, do you have anything you want to buy? While we are shopping.” Narvia said with a curious look on her face. She did want to know what he was going to shop for since she had something to buy for him. It is a fun thing to deal with, wondering what the other person will buy while at the Galactic Bazaar.

"I'm not even sure what I want to buy at the moment..." Finbarr smirked in response to Narvia'scquestion. "Maybe some beef and tomato paste for me to make some kind of broth out of. Heh. Or whiskey."

Finbarr chuckled lightly at that one, tapping at her shoulder to wave away any worries she would have about that particular thing. "Ah, don't worry about it. I'll wait till I'm old enough. At the moment, I suppose I'll be wanting to-"

"There's a Pillar of Fire in Sector North! One of us is at fault! Help us put it out and then flee the Bazaar at once - Security will not look kindly on what we're going to do!"

"Ruddy bloody hell, here we go again." Finbarr shook his head and rolled his eyes at the apparent commotion that Alan had quite literally sparked right in the middle of the Galactic Bazaar. "Why can't we have nice things?! Damn it. Narvia, looks like we gotta go."

And now, they will go to the rendezvous with Ashton, Flame, and the others; it looks like that they will have another operation today. And in his head, Finbarr is calling it 'Operation Fire Extinguisher'. After all, that's what they need to do.

Klein Harris

The Galactic Bazaar

"Oohhhhh, SHHIIIIIIII-" Was all he could say as all the built-up energy suddenly burst forth from his hands and mouth, creating a giant pillar of white flames shooting towards the top of the dome, tall enough to where just about everyone in the Bazaar could see it, and all of the civilians began look in awe and dread. The civilians around Alan, Klein, and Maria in particular now running away in panic. The Bazaar's Security department and law enforcers saw what happened and were effectively on the move towards the source.

The sudden fiery outburst caused Klein to recoil in fear of being singed, and topple he did. He fell backwards onto the floor, shielding his eyes with his long spindly arms as a pillar of flame erupted in the middle of everything. He adjusted his glasses, and gaped at just how big the pillar of flame was. If anything, it was like a little volcanic eruption.

"What the hell did you eat?" Klein demanded, getting up from the floor with a bit of effort. "Mana infused burgers?"

"Do you want me to do something about that?" Klein asked Alan. Maria could sense his mind drifting towards the dark thoughts of his own shadowy magic, specifically the contemplation to send forth nightmares of the people around. Klein didn't do anything, though, not yet at least.

"This is bad, this is bad!" Klein grumbled lowly, readying to summon the nightmare creatures out of the worst dreams out of the civilians. They're going to be under arrest, anyway, so trying to negotiate would be useless. Would the security people even believe anything they say?

Jude Styles

Jude was actually having a fairly pleasant day. Whilst they usually avoided others, and others avoided them, Ashton and Flame operated under no such rudeness. The two wanted to catch up with Jude, since they had not talked in a fair amount of time. Jude was couldn't well turn down the offer, as they were some of the few to engage in pleasantries with Jude, even during everyone's Ascendancy days. Besides, if they loved old Earth music like Jude did, the pair could be kindred spirits. Maybe.

All good things must come to an end, of course. As Ashton and Flame were just beginning to get Jude to open up a tad, some kind of pillar of white flame appeared on the horizon. For a few moments, all Jude could do was stare at it. It was a majestic thing, almost heavenly, really. Awe inspiring, certainly. But then, all great and powerful things were, really. And power was often abused to harm. Jude tuned back into reality just as Ashton explained what exactly was happening. Highly concentrated world magic. Knowing it wasn't the result of a bomb just anyone could use put Jude's mind a little at ease, but people were in danger, so they couldn't calm down. They had to act.

Jude launched into action just as Ashton and Flame did, though Jude's robotic legs carried them farther with each stride. They did not strategize or communicate like Ashton and Flame did-- the Ascendancy built Jude to brutalize, and taught them only as much. However, their robotic muscles could do more good than harm in the right circumstance. Many a time did they use their body to shield a squishy comrade, or lift up debris. Strength like that could be useful if the pillar originated inside of a building, or if there was more to worry about than just a bomb.

Jude wasn't totally tuned out and in their own head, of course. They listened to what Ashton and Flame were doing, and accepted their help in the form of the hoverspeeder. They also replied to Ashton, mentally, even if Jude wasn't a super fan of the bizarre psychic link between the lot of them. 'I can only freeze myself, so I think I'd be best helping citizens...' Jude "said." Unfortunately, it looked like helping in evacuation wasn't really on anyone's mind, least the security of the bazaar, who were currently gunning on arresting what was apparently one of them.

'...Or fending off security. If we could have just one day off...'

Location: The Galactic Bazaar
Interaction: Finbarr @The Man Emperor, Flame & Ashton by Omnitool Message @Letter Bee
Mention:

Narvia had a smile on her face while she listens to Finbarr’s response since it is hard to figure out what you want to buy. Her facial features slightly changed when he said or whiskey and made her a bit worried. It was clear as day on her face because they shouldn’t be drinking at all. However, Finbarr chuckled and tapped her on the shoulder made her sigh in relief that he was joking about it. ” You had me worried, Finbarr. Yeah, it would be better to wait on something like that.” Narvia said with a smile. It didn’t take long for her mood to be a bit frustrated when she saw her omnitool start giving out a message from Flame.

Narvia gave out a slight sigh in frustration, and all she wanted to do was relax and have fun shopping with her boyfriend. She sighed slightly more about the whole ordeal, but the Star Marines needed to be helped out, but she wouldn’t want to harm anyone. ” Agreed, Finbarr.” Narvia said with a sigh and rolled her eyes. She felt like the world was against them to have a normal life or something, but they were experimented on by the Ascendancy. ” Finbarr, it looks like our date has to take a rain check. What’s the world coming to when I want to have a normal life now? Yeah, let’s go. We have to help our friends.” Narvia said with a slightly frustrated look on her face.

So Narvia kept up with Finbarr to rendezvous with Ashton, Flame, and the others. She kept close to Finbarr to reach where they need to meet with the other Star Marines. Hopefully, they can deal with not causing any harm to anyone in the Galactic Bazaar. ’ What did my godfather usually say? Oh yeah, suspect the unexpected. I should not lower my guard, but I want to relax with Finbarr. It feels like we need an enormous fire extinguisher or something for that pillar of fire.’ Narvia thought in her head. Her feelings were mixed about the whole thing but keeping causalities to a minimum and keeping her friends alive is a top priority.

Narvia sends a message to the other Star Marines that aren’t with her that Finbarr is. ’ Finbarr and I will rendezvous with you, Ashton and Flame!’ Her messages are adorable when she sends messages to everyone since it is how she acts all the time. However, this message was a bit more adorable with how she put Finbarr before her in a different type of way. If it weren’t hinting at something, many people would be blind or deaf to what has happened between Finbarr and her.

NERO KAYAKOS

So, the good news was...he'd finished shopping. The bad news? Ohhh...EVERYTHING ELSE!!

Let's be clear, though: This wasn't his fault, nor did it directly affect him, so technically it wasn't that bad. The problem was that he'd just gotten done sending things to the Xuanzang - He found a cake that was just Holy Shit tasty, and he had to have it! - when everything seemed to happen at once. First, there was a GREAT release of flames - white flames, in fact - and then there was a message from Flame on his Omnitool proclaiming that the fire raging out of control was one of their own doing it.

Huh... I guess she was right, and I forgot. We DO have a white flame user. Wait a minute...

Putting aside the fact that the fancy-pants chick was probably looking for ALL of them, she had mentioned the white flames specifically, and she was probably still HERE in the Galactic Bazaar! In short, that idiotic beacon was going to draw them in on top of the local authorities. Nero would've been fine to just let that wait until they were all on the ship and headed out of there, but apparently that shit just couldn't wait! So, as soon as a flying Bazaar Security vehicle flew overhead, he was on it. Well...under it. It was a matter of seeing it coming, finding the appropriate way to parkour up a goddamn building to reach it, and finding something to cling on at the underside, or making places to hold on with what weapons he had on him. He'd quickly gone to Shadow-Step to avoid detection while pulling off this feat, which is why Nero had a free ride to the site, and this was the time in which he'd take out his Omnitool to warn them.

-Hey guys, I don't want to put the pressure on or anything, but I found a couple of bounty hunters or something looking to pinch escapees from the Circle of Hell. And while they didn't seem interested in me, they DID mention they were looking for a guy wielding white flames, and lookit that! White flames, all over the place! When we're done with this, there is going to be such a frigging chew-out session that you'll be hungry, just watching. Which reminds me, I bought a cake. Just saying.-

He then described the two 'hunters' or whatever they were as a girl in fancy dress and a guy in a cloak that immediately makes you think 'cultist'. He didn't know who they were, exactly, but they were clearly opposition to be watched for and not lacking in skill. With this part concluded, Nero was actually THERE when the Bazaar Security began to shout in the area of the flame. Because the machine cast a shadow at its underside, nobody saw him under there from street level or anything. Now much closer to the fire, you could see this wraith-like form. That is...until it went all shapeless to gain some entry to the craft.

You guys want terrorism? I'LL give you terrorism!

Specifically, because he could effectively meld with shadows by becoming an amorphous physical one, Nero was able to slip in through the small gaps of the machine, and after a sudden cursing from the occupants, things went a little silent in there, as we find the operators unconscious in the passenger spot and Nero in the driver's seat of the gunship! Oh god, this is terrible! Nero can't drive, let alone fly!

"Ah, how hard could it be? Hey computer, gimme some appropriate reckless endangerment music."

"Now playing a relevent track."

Remember, he was still in stealth. All sound that he was generating was confined to the wraith-like field around him, concealing identity even if they got a decent look. So, if any other Bazaar Security happened to see ANY of this before the show started, good luck finding out who and how and why! As for those who were handling the situation with the fire, there wasn't exactly much that Nero could do to help the situation down there. This was WAY more his speed, as this gunship began flying around like a kid without a driver's licence was at the helm! He was just gunning it all over the place! Not with the actual guns, just the gas. Even still...

"Man, they're gonna hate us after today."
