As a young buck, Jalen Daniels could often be found walking the mile and a half to 16th and Susquehanna busting out a seemingly endless stream of dribble moves with his off-hand. He had given verbal intent to go to Cheneyβ¦ but that was before the HS State Championships. Where his stock skyrocketed, as smaller point guards often could, where the measurables didnβt see them targeted as heavily, and college letters were more contingent on form. Drawing interest from the Kentucky Wildcats, βPoint Guard Uβ, he was left with the decision between staying with the small school, or somewhere in-state like Temple, or going all in on ball as a career. Freddie's early life was very carefully controlled. Much like the other children of the rich and the elite, there was a blend of restricted personal life, and rehearsed public appearances. His schools were private; his tutoring, even more so. And acting out was not allowed. Son of the heartthrob pop star Percy Ashford and queen of the red carpet Jean Averill, there were always going to be... expectations. Thirty years ago, they were the power couple that ruled the Hollywood spotlight - the awards show winners, the humanitarian aid advocates, the media darlings. You know what they say about killing your darlings. The divorce was messy. Scandalous. Public. And the press jumped on it like jackals. There wasn't a gossip rag that didn't cover it - and it was hot news for weeks as the court case carried on and on. Old interviews were dragged back into the limelight. Private correspondence was leaked. Past colleagues and present friends were interrogated for any shred of drama. Then there was the crash. The official release from Ashford's estate was that it was a tragic accident. There were rumours, of course. Some said that he had been trying to evade the press - others claimed that he had drugs in his system. All Freddie knew was that he was suddenly surrounded by lawyers and agents who were insisting on handling everything for him. The press release. His inheritance. The funeral. And his mother? His mother aged. Wrinkles, grey hairs. Things that Hollywood can't abide. Things that journalists brought up whenever they raked her back across the coals. Her crown passed on, to the next young, pretty thing. She was still a star, still on the red carpet, still beloved by many - but aging gracefully wasn't enough. And Hollywood is quietly cruel to those women who aren't enough. So Freddie learned the lesson. He put on a carefully crafted mask - friendly, personable, polite. He sealed the cracks. Gave the press enough to satisfy, but not enough to grab hold. Didn't act out. There would be no scandals, no mistakes. No jackals. β CAREERβ β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β Officially, Freddie's an actor. A few minor appearances, then a role in a high school drama series. And, as an adult, he slowly racked up movie credits until he landed the starring role in the summer's blockbuster romcom. That set the trend for the majority of his roles since. He's pretty sure teenage girls and single mothers make up the majority of his fanbase. Some people call his success nepotism - many directors he works under now, his mother worked with back in the day. And, well, Freddie doesn't disagree. None of the roles he's had are ones he would have chosen for himself. Good stories, but nothing revolutionary. Because that's what's good. That's what's safe. If you ask what Freddie thinks his job actually is? He shows up. At the talk shows, the football games, the art galleries, the parties. His mother - his manager - makes sure of it. That he's someone everybody knows, that everybody invites, that everybody wants to call a friend. He doesn't drink too much, he doesn't wear outlandish outfits - the most scandalous thing he's done, in the public eye? An underwear ad. He creates buzz, without being dangerous. Which is how he and Lucy got together. They've been in multiple projects together, and they formed an easy friendship. Their off-screen camaraderie and on-screen chemistry quickly sparked rumours, and Freddie's mother proposed that they lean into it - drum up interest in their most recent films. A couple of staged public photos to stir up the fans. An interview where they denied anything, but cast shy glances at each other. It's a game they play - a joke they say they're laughing at. 'The on-screen romance was real!'. A cage that they trapped themselves in, more like. The ball kept rolling from there. Generating just enough buzz with every movie one of them stars in, every red-carpet photo op. They've been living together for the past four years. Nobody else gets to know the truth. |
![]() | JEAN AVERILL Jean has mostly retired from the spotlight, now operating her own talent agency, and despite having people assigned to him, she spends a lot of time operating as her son's personal manager. In the shadow of that spotlight, the pressure of her expectations fell on Freddie. It's unclear if it's bitterness towards the industry, or if she's desperate to protect him from the same fall from grace that she had. There is warmth there, still, but it conflicts with his growing resentment of her grasp on his life. | ![]() | LUCY MASON Freddie's best friend, and to the world, his girlfriend. A rising starlet in her own right. She doesn't have the family history or the rich parents he does, but she's got parts of her life she'd like to keep private, which is why she agreed to date Freddie. In public, she's the perfect girlfriend, sweet, attentive, but not possessive - in private, they complain to each other about difficult work days, eat food they're not supposed to, and watch bad movies with a bottle of wine between them. |

As a young kid in Compton, Adrian began life in extreme duress. Known for its gang violence, and high rates of homicide, Compton had Adrian's family in a chokehold, constantly pulling them into a life of violence. With his mother working two jobs, he spent most of his time with his father, a member of the Piru Bloods. Piru Bloods were a prominent gang in Compton, keeping Adrian's father busy but also Adrian would end up meeting other children of gang members that he would come to call friends. He would see the violence that his father was apart of, spurring him on to follow in his father's footsteps. Following in his father's foot steps, he'd get into fights, and talk about the gang as if it was family. This was the example set by those around him and Adrian only knew this life, struggling every day for a meal, watching his mother stressed and his father in and out of the home. Eventually the life would catch up to his father, never making it home one night, found shot in the middle of the street. Only 13 when his father was murdered, this one act of violence would end up changing Adrian's life for the worse and for the better. The gang would end up recruiting the son of the recently murdered, happy to use Adrian's gifts for their own ends. Like his father before him, the boy sat at 6'0" and fit the stereotype of Samoans being notoriously big and powerful individuals. Enlisted by the gang, Adrian was given a gun and sent to get revenge for his father's murder. The task was easy enough, catching the suspected killer outside his home, playing with his child. For a moment it seemed like Adrian would pull that trigger, ending not only that man's life but his own. Instead he hesitated, emotion flaring as the confrontation grew louder and louder until the police finally arrived to take him into custody. Adrian's trial would go unheard by the public at large, ending in a guilty verdict and a sentence of 2 years in a juvenile detention center plus a half a year of probation. Those two years would be the roughest time of his life, having to fight to protect himself, keeping himself solitary from the other youth as a way to keep himself out of trouble. His mother would rarely visit, a disdain for her son and the life he chose. Upon his exit of the Juvenile facility, the most unlikely person would show up, his uncle Anthony Mata'afa. This is the part where the for better would begin. β CAREERβ β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β β Instead of harping upon the boy, Anthony would end up enrolling young Adrian into boxing at his gym, giving the boy an outlet for his anger and a way to keep himself off the streets. Those gangs didn't care about him nor his wellbeing which helped him see just how much he nearly messed up his life. Boxing would call to him, showcasing a natural talent that many took notice of. Soon enough Adrian would decide that he wanted to go into the amateurs after nearly knocking out an experienced amateur that was soon to make his pro debut. Adrian's first amateur match was a work of art, beating his opponent in only three rounds. The moment that Adrian turned 18, his pro career would begin. After many years going undefeated on the amateur circuit, there was a level of hype surrounding the boy that was only reserved for a few notable boxers in history. He would end up living up to that hype and more, continuing his undefeated streak in his first handful of matches. Fame would follow the wins, leading to the meeting of his future wife and famous actress Dianna King and coach/best friend Marcus Graves. Fame would rapidly grow around the now world famous boxer, leading to him pursuing the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship, and eventually winning that title in a dominant performance. The first Samoan to ever hold the title brought a level of prestige that not even Adrian was prepared for. Soon would come the partying, wild expenditures, and adventuring across the planet. Though his greatest achievement would be the birth of his daughter, a joy greater than any belt could provide him. As the Undisputed Champ, Adrian would exude a level of cool and calm that many latched onto, seeing him as a people's champion, making sure to always give back except for the community he was born in. There would always be contention to how he treated his former home of Compton, California but it couldn't overshadow his accomplishments. Underneath that demeanor he presented was a silent rage from his past that had gotten him into trouble a few times and sued by a fan once before. This life would soon take a toll on the Champ. Before his most recent defense, a back injury would plague the champ, an injury of such magnitude that the doctors intended for him to be out of action for seven months. Instead Adrian would make it back in action in only four, something most people would consider a miracle but not completely out of the realm of possibility. Everyone would come up with many conclusions for why he was able to return so soon and there seemed to be issues leading up to his defense but one thing for sure was that he passed his pre-fight and post-fight drug tests. He head proved once again why he was a generational talent and not much could ruin his career...for now. |
![]() | Dianna King Dianna met Adrian when he was 20 and has stayed by his side ever since. From the day they met, love blossomed, leading to a relationship that secure and comforting for both individuals. She has pursued the theater and the big screen for most of her life, ending up securing her place Hollywood as a renown actress excelling in the category of drama. Exuding kindness, compassion, and understanding, Dianna can embody roles that are direct opposites to her personality. He's Adrian's best friend, godfather to Adrian's daughter, and always looking forward instead wallowing in the past. He's a good man shrouded by a negative public image. |

7x Thank
Cast Announcement!
Thank you everybody for your interest in the game - it's been great seeing all the applications and reading through your wonderful sheets! As promised, today is deadline day; and without further delay, alongside mine and @Rockette's characters, we're pleased to confirm the starting roster. Per the disclaimer at the top of the thread, there were players with priority slots, and they are as follows:
@Stormyx as Hayden Fenwick, "The Fighter"
@Melissa as Scarlett Wren, "The Influencer"
@Lord Wraith as Jag, "The Rockstar"
@Qia as Cozy Rosie, "The Streamer"
@Hound55 as Jalen Daniels, "The Athlete"
Beyond our priority players, Rockette are I are also pleased to welcome some fresh faces into the fold!
@Mole as Eleanor Hill, "The Author"
@Xandrya as Anna Svensson, "The Princess"
@Sleepy Tani as Charles Aponte, "The Founder"
We landed at a nice even 10; apologies to those who didn't make it - it's not personal! Every applicant was wonderful; we just had a lot to weigh up. If at any point we look to expand, we'll make sure you're the first to know.
With this announcement I'm also excited to confirm the IC is now live! The party's started and you're all invited.
Looking forward to your posts!
