While on the topic of not reading character sheets, there's a special place in hell for people that don't EVER read the CSs of their fellow ACTIVE roleplayers. I spend more time on my sheets then I do on 4 or 5 big posts combined. And I ALWAYS read and make an effort to get to know the other characters. I thought this was like common courtesy or something? Are there a lot of people out there doing this? Why??

I do make it an effort to read other people's CS. This is especially so in large group RPs, and I'd often go back and do reference check to make sure I got the things right as I interact with the various player characters, or even doing collabs. I don't like inconsistency, which is stemmed from my experience with reading murder-mystery novels in the past and develop the "bad" habit of keeping an eye out for details and foreshadowing. Also, reading their sheets is helpful to give me a general idea of how their characters feels like, which can aid me in visualizing how my character might react/interact with them in certain situations.

The rest is just like you've said: if one doesn't bother to read the sheets of other player characters, why do they bother to RP with other players, especially in large groups where there are many characters involved that it can get difficult to keep track at times? I'll be amazed at those who can do this and are active in multiple RPs - how the hell can your brain keep up with every little detail across so many different RPs without reading anything beyond your own CS?

As a long time RP player in Tabletop Games as a player and Game Master of rpg ranging from D&D, White Wolf's portfolio World of Darkness, Cyberpunk, ect. I had to be aware of my players and see to it that they felt as if they were contributing to the game so they'd continue to show up to the table. I also encouraged my players to interact so as to build a sense of community.

I know online forum RP seem a bit more sterile because you aren't sitting there across from people but in the end we all share a love for storytelling and when anyone leaves because they grow tired of solo posting it limits our available pool of players and slows the guild.

Sorry for rambling but thought I'd post my feelings and experience on the issue

I... didn't list my new RP's Join Status as "Full" on accident... don't suddenly show up with a fully completed CS... don't-- don't do that, bruh. Just... no.

Now I have to add an ugly looking message at the top of my OOC until the IC gets enough posts in it to deter people from attempting to join. Totes messes up the aesthetic.

The Guild is slow and I think part of the cause is all the neglected RP that people have spread themselves across. It has reduced the posting speeds down to a level not usually witnessed in Forum RP and more like PBEM RP, well at least it isn't as slow as the theoretical Snail Mail RP which I still believe to be myth
