This is one example of what I mean. An avatar of sorts that allows me to interact in a much more personal way, not to mention without having to make use of cumbersome portals.

Shinji: in each room there is a vacuum sealed door to space, and beside it a breathe-kit for temporary exposure. Put it on. Once your ready, open the door and let an energy blast out. Trap or not, they'll come. They think either way that they will succeed, and that's what we're counting on.
