The appetising side of bacon came over on all fours, then stood up, tucked at his vest and reached out a front foot, then retracted it and wiped it clean with a handkerchief before reaching it out again. "Pleasure to meet you, newcomer. My name is Sweinfred Haxe. I'm the mayor of this town. If you are looking for a morning meal, I was just heading over to Mr. Kadoka's for some venison and then to Mr. Admoss' for some horseradish. If we're lucky, Minnow might have some leftover rolls from last night's dinner rush - well, if she hasn't gone to sleep already."
The mayor flashed a porcine grin before his small eyes turned to the neighbouring voice and nodded to Lea'Nariya. "Good morning, Ms. en Barcinna! All was well last night, I hope?"
It was a lovely morning in the middle of Summa and Mayor Haxe had stepped out of his mansion with a cupful of schlotschic, that most mysterious brew mixed from the pulverised beans of the schlotch tree and the juice of the hyic fruit. Together, they packed a sweet and sour punch that could wake up anyone from even the groggiest of morning moods. Some of it stuck to his snout and a rough tongue extended with a polite grunt and licked the spot clear before it could make his overdue shave all sticky. A cloven "hand" scratched at his chin and retrieved a napkin from his breast pocket to wipe away that which the tongue could not reach.
Ah, there was something special about today. Something was telling the mayor that the town was about to become just a little more lively than usual. He could feel it. It brought a porcine smile to his lips and he downed the rest of his cup. He set it on its little tea plate, retrieved his little hat, tucked his vest into a more professional shape and strolled off into town for his morning walk.
"Ah," he sighed with glee. "What a wonderful morning."
Race: Sweinfred is a pink-skinned pigman, a race that hails from the Grunting Woods. He stands 163cm tall and has a coat of thin, brisley hairs all over his body. Like most other pigmen, he has no hair on his head, however, so to mimic the fashion of the affluent higher humanoids, he wears a well-groomed white wig. Pigmen are, in spite of the stereotypes of laziness, sloppiness and uncleanliness, surprisingly well-organised and dedicated in their lives. Sweinfred like many of his kin values good hygiene and the finer arts to a high degree, and he strives to live is life in a way that exemplifies that pigfolk are far from dirty and lazy.
Job: Sweinfred is the mayor of Lorenstad. As mayor, Sweinfred makes sure to govern and uphold the law of the little town, and welcomes all new inhabitants and helps them settle down.
Background: Mr. Burgermeister hails from a long lineage who first made it big in the truffle business. With the money, old great-great-grandfather Snorto Haxe sent his son, Hocksley Haxe, to the Royal Academy to study law. Hocksley later inherited the family wealth and ventured out into the wilderness to settle down with his wife Pigella and his little piglets. They founded Lorenstad, and since then, the office of mayor has passed down the generations all the way up to Sweinfred. He has like his great-grandfather studied law in Grada and has a multitude of hobbies, including collecting magehopper bugs for their manadew.
Home: Mayor Haxe lives in the house of his great-grandfather, which has since then doubled up as the town hall. It holds way too many rooms for Mayor Haxe’s family, anyway, so why not?

Where am I?
You’re in Lorenstad, a small stop-over between the port city Struq in the east and the archduchess’ capital Grada in the west. People usually come here to rest on their way to either, but on occasion, we get one or two who feel like staying after getting to know the locals - that’s how we got most of our locals, anyhow.
What do you do here?
Why, we live our lives as we always have. The draft of people and goods through our humble piece of land means we’ve built up our share of artisans over the years - alchemists, mages, runesmiths, mip breeders, blacksmiths, potters, carpenters - the list goes on for a bit as you can imagine. Plenty of work to be made here, if you’ve got the skill.
‘Course, there’s also plenty of land, so if being a shepherd, farmer or forester fancies you more, there’s always room for that, too.
Why should I care?
Oh, I don’t mean to impose, I assure you. Our little town just always strives to be welcoming to all the Makers’ folks, whether they be elves, dwarves, trolls, giants, goblins, gnomes, kappa, satyrs - you get the picture. So if this fancies you, you know, we’re always happy to invite you to stay.
Welcome to Townsfolk of Lorenstad, a small-scale fantasy town RP set in the most generic of fantasy worlds. Why so generic? Well, frankly, the world at large is much too big to even fathom - for us townsfolk, anyway. Hence we don’t care much for it, save for some places central to our lives. What we care about is Lorenstad herself, and what a fine lil’ town she is.
So what’s this RP actually about? This is a small-scale character RP set in a small town. You make a character of a fantasy race of your choosing, give them a job (or no job if the bum or thief’s life is your calling) and join the fun - simple as.
Want to roleplay a 7 meter tall giant who makes a living by fishing for arcane crocodiles called froops in the nearby river? You can do that.
Want to roleplay a talking macaque the size of a thumb who entertains the tavern guests at night with sick tunes from the world’s smallest violin? Go right on ahead!
Want to roleplay a lizardman constable who hisses everything they say and thus never makes themself understood? If that’s your cuppa tea, you may!
Want to roleplay a dragon who lives in a cave outside of the village because no house could fit them and is forever surly over the fact? A little bitter, maybe, but feel free to do so!

Alright, some quick roles before you get started:
No godmode/metagame/powerplay and make sure to reach out to people before involving their stuff and characters in your own stuff unless they’ve given their clear.
While any fantasy race, job and concept is fair game, please don’t pick a world-ending entity like a balrog or an elemental lord or something like that. Won’t be much of a town life RP if the town is wiped out by a firestorm. Job-wise, please don’t pick anything that would obviously draw a lot of attention or outrank the mayor (doesn’t count for military ranks - your character can be a bypassing general of the archduchess’ army if that pleases).
Please give the GM a quick message on the OOC if circumstances dictate that you will become inactive in the RP for a time. I’m sure we’ve all seen the phenomena of people simply vanishing; it’s frustrating and leaves work where the others have to pick up the narrative pieces.
Since it’s a small village, people can meet up and even do sexy times. In such an event, please keep it PG-13 and fade to black.
How big is the town?
It’s more of a village to be clear - the number of inhabitants is fairly fluid, but not much bigger than 300 people.
How does time work in this universe?
We will be using the IRL calendar to decide time. The days and months have different names than in English, though, and these will be used IC. The months are as follows:

First week of Hotsa: Festival of Taiho, Maker of Fire - villagers of Lorenstad celebrate the hottest week of the year with a feast to the fire-maker Taiho.
Last week of Reapa: Festival of Ahgri-Cuhlt-Ur, Maker of Harvests - villagers of Lorenstad celebrate the harvest by feasting in honour of the Grainmaker.
Last week of Snowa: Festival of Kotatsu, Maker of the Hearth - villagers spend the coldest week of the year inside with their friends and family and feast of the sweetest and fattiest meals of the year in honour of the Cozy One.
Last week of Frosta: Festival of Sabuntawa, Maker of New Beginnings - villagers celebrate the renewal of the year with a feast in honour of the Wheel of Time and welcome the spring anew.
First week of Sowsa: Festival of Fruh, Maker of Seeds - villagers sow the fields for the year and pay homage to the Cosmic Scarecrow and pray that it will keep their harvest save until Ahgri-Cuhlt-Ur takes over the reins midway through Summa.
If you have anymore ideas for festivals or Makers in general, toss them out and they'll most likely be added!
Do I have to know any lore before I join?
Players will be bringing their own lore to the table, and our world will be constructed from that, so the best way to get up to speed with the lore of this universe is to check out the character sheets of your fellow players.
Okay, but is there any lore that exists outside of the sheets that I should know?
The IC part of the OOC drops in particularly three names that can be left up to interpretation and uncertainity: the capital city Grada, the port-city Struq and the Makers. However, these have no established lore of their own, so whatever the players write in regards to interactions with them will become canon when it’s written. In the event that we have conflicting canons, this’ll be discussed OOC. The only ideas I as a GM have for these is that Grada is beeg city, Struq is beeg port-city and the Makers is a beeg pantheon of gods. Plenty of room for players to make their own stuff here!
Character Sheet
Name: Add a name here. Can be anything of any language root, fictional or otherwise. Race: Can also be anything (see rule nr. 2 for what is considered ‘within reason’). Please also add a short description of what the race is like, what its traits are and maybe even where it’s from in the world (since the world lore is so limited, the player is completely free to create their race’s place of origin from scratch). Pictures are welcome! Job: Tell us what your character’s job in the town is! Virtually anything goes, so pick something you’d like to explore with your character. Background: Here you fill out your character’s background. Are they new to the town or have they been here for a while? Perhaps they’re from one of the lineages that founded the town way back? Maybe they’re from a legendary lineage from far, far away and live in exile? Are they single? Are they married? Are they perhaps above (or below) familial ties, or of a religion that does not condone marriage? What is their religion? Do they believe in the Makers? Home: Every townsperson oughta have a home, so add a picture or a description of where and how your character lives. Do they live in a mansion or in a wooden barrel in an alley?
