Jackson might be the oldest Drake-Hart child descending from the current heads of the dual houses of Hart and Drake,
Violet Hart and
Leonidas Drake (otherwise known as mom and dad), but he is in no way the odds on favorite to one day take the reigns from his parents, otherwise known as the tyrannical dictators who like to take every chance they can of reminding him just how much more they like his
younger sister better. Jackson might be, if this were medieval times, the prodigal son being groomed to take on a more active role within the family hierarchy. Instead of that being the case, he is treated as an outcast, like his opinions about what the family should be doing in both magic and muggle worlds, like what a reworking on the public image in both worlds would do for the family's longevity. It's not that his ideas are bad or even good but none of them are taken into account. So why even bother right?
It was a hard adjustment, but Jackson eventually figured his place in the family. Eventually, he knew it was best not to cause trouble on a grand scale. Consider him the black sheep to the shining lioness Savanna was in their eyes. This was fine. He never cared for their approval anyway ...or rather he was never given the chance for that to be something he might one day want. So instead, Jackson fell into his own crowd and did what he wanted to do. Maybe this is why he often hangs around misfits and those rejected from the status quo. Maybe this was why, whenever those in charge at Salem Witches Institute noticed some reckless fun was about to be had and property was damaged, even if Jackson wasn't responsible, nobody would think twice about believing it was his doing.
During his time at SWI, though he never stood out academically like his sister did, Jackson excelled in other areas. Throughout his six years in total, Jackson has proven himself to be quite the offensive wizard-in-the-making. Spellcasting and those directed for offensive tactics seemed to be something Jackson himself was able to get down nigh effortlessly. He would never call himself a prodigy because he hated that word, but he's on the precipice of realizing just how good he is. Another subject Jackson proved to be skilled at was the act of transmutation. It's difficult to say how that tied into say defense against the dark arts, but in his own words:
"It centers me, bro." So take that what you will. He also really digs flying.
Anyone who has gotten to know Jackson in any regard would know he doesn't like to sit on ideas for longer than a few minutes after thinking of it. Whether this idea leads him down a path of several rules being broken or faces being smashed in (yeah despite knowing a few spells, he likes to get close and personal), Jackson has built himself something of a reputation of being a hotheaded maniac with low impulse control and even lower brain cells (
Most rumors are fake news but also not.). Jackson's like the Ghostbusters when it comes to bad ideas and their results, but instead of having a wicked costume and ghosts causing trouble, Jackson has his reckless behavior of being the fall guy even if he didn't do anything.
That is Jackson Drake. For better or worse, he does more with his heart than he does with his brain. Whatever your opinion of him, Jackson is a true Nighthound.
"Woof Woof!"
