the ad spam isn't that much of a problem in terms of covering content. but its a hurtful reminder that the many algorithms that decide what ads to serve think I am the kind of person to gamble

I've been RPing about a decade starting mostly with chat stuff and some LARPs/reenactments, doing the stuff of this site for maybe half a decade now. I'm a former serviceman, and while I was conscripted I make sure to stay in related circles. As a day job I'm a programmer letting me usually work from home even when we don't have coronavirus forcing us to do so and thus I got a lot of time for RP.

Quietly and with no noise the Kriegsman followed the footsteps of the Praetorian. He stopped dead in his tracks with less than a heartbeat in him when the servitor came about, as though he was now a statue. Indeed when he he resumed the most avid of listeners would have heard his heart's beat almost mechanical, in perfect controlled rhythm.
As they entered the armoury, the Krieger had something theoretically comparable to happiness in him. However, to his dismay the majority of the weapons present were almost alien to him at first glance. However, he lit up after a quick search. In his luck he managed to find a few Lucius pattern shotguns, the variant that the Krieg and other regiments favoured for it's simple revolver mechanism combined with swift rate of fire. Holding the weapon like a child, he stood for a few moments thinking. Grudgingly, he went over to where armour was and took a carapace cuirass, helmet, joint pads, gloves, and some other garments to put upon himself at first shifting uncomfortably in them. Then, he once more thought practically. With his shotgun he was now more or less directly equivalent to the Engineers of the Krieg in capability, so he would run further along those lines. With a swift search he grabbed two laspistols, two combat knives and four frag grenades. Be it an enemy trench or a tight room he was now suited for close combat of any sort.
As the doors began to open, Epsilon took his spot at the cover of the left side of the wall beside the door. The shotgun was set down upon the ground stock-first, and he grabbed two of his frag grenades. He pulled the pins, and started counting mentally, ready to throw them in to reduce enemy cover as well as do some suppression, particularly to let himself and the flamer armed Ork hunter through so their nasty close combat weapons could sweep up the enemy like the worthless sacks of manure they were.

A bit dated, but the UAE is trying to colonize Mars. Good on them for inadvertently going down the terraforming path to achieve it, too.
It'll definitely help them if the oil reserves run out.
Inshallah, we shall have our Mars Ancapistani Caliphate after all!
As an aside, I'm surprised people outside of communities that are too primitive to know the word climate change still deny it. Even if theoretically it was mostly a result of natural cycles these are clearly natural cycles that will not end well for millions of people which we should not be trying to speed up.

All evidence criminal and scientific was engineered by a shadowy democratic clique that is right now planning to take your guns and turn America into a UN camp where you will be forced to use the correct pronoun at gunpoint. And I do mean all evidence. For everything.

Whereas before the weapons was held threateningly the Krieger gently lowered it to not cause alarm but kept it just high enough to melt the knee of the mean before him should they try something. The situation needed careful reassessment, so the Krieger stood quietly in thought whilst things happened around him. He looked to the people either side of him with something akin to suspicion. They were all too enthusiastic to betray the Emperor and to fight the Holy Inquisition. They were all threats to Imperial security, and if he was the officer he'd certainly remember the proverb "always shoot a traitor before an enemy."
He turned to the Praetorian with the same expressionless face he always had and then to the dead soldier. He gave the corpse a methodical prod on a spot that seemed sterile, before looking up once more. How many men were present? Were these lasguns the last weapons not in the hands of the enemy? What chance did they loyalists have?
It didn't matter. Ready or not, they would go forth and make their last moments glorious to kill the enemies of Emperor and Imperium.
"Yes." Draeta said. "I will join you on your endeavour, then." It took a few more moments for him to think of "However as we go on I wish you to tell us everything you can on the enemy. Their numbers and strength. Now, we must hurry into the fray." With that, he looked side to side ready to go.
