Current It's been three years since we lost Polymorpheus, a dear friend. It's felt like a lot longer, that time. I still think about Poly every so often, and how I miss them so very much. I won't forget them.

Bio

uhhhh, hi there

I am here and I sorta exist so yes this is my ‘bio’ and it will probably be rather brief and suck and be sloppy, just like me.
So, without further ado..

stuff about me

Most people call me Barti or Bart as well as a few other things since it’s just easier or meaner than the actual thing - I invite you to do so as well.

I’m a 23-year-old (bday June 20th!) Texan who enjoys thunderstorms and rain far too much, and likes anime, running, metal music, and copious amounts of DRUGS candy, among many other cool things - like DnD and MTG.

I enjoy group rps as well as 1x1s. For groups I have what I think is a decent array of interests, most of it being profusely weeb-y. I like Fantasystuffs (Modern especially), supernatural themes, pretty much all Japanese stuff - including historically accurate settings - as well as general dark/grim themes, comedic slice of life trash, academy rps, unique plots, etc. etc. As for 1x1s I pretty much do romance, but I can do non-romantic stuff too if you give me something to work with xP
The only genre I find myself not entirely comfortable with is really sci-fi stuff, but, if the plot/idea catches me enough it can hold my interest. Oh, and my writing level is high casual to low advanced.

I’m a sarcastic, snarky, bipolar-depressed, degenerate garbage can, but generally people seem to like me (I don’t know why in the hot hell you would) - but if you would also like to be my friendo lemme know.
I don’t bite.
Usually owo xd rawr

welppp...I guess that’s okay for now
thanks for reading, you potatoes

I don't think I'm missing anything, but if I am let me know. ^^
@Artifex I assume not everyone in the world is a summoner or has the capacity to be a summoner...right? Are there other forms of magic out there by the way? Not intending to use any of them, was just asking for background info.

Kheraket regained his footing as the zombie crumpled into the wall from the its own momentum plus the shade's attack. He quickly approached it with a shadowy mass - one much like a fist - sprouting from his staff, before bringing it down forcefully onto the corpse.

The gatekeeper then turned to the previous room again. Several of their undead attackers were seizing up and twitching - it seemed the others could hold their own, at least somewhat. But what happened next showed that they could clearly do more than just hold their own. One of the girls - the shortest of them - spoke a chant, which borne a crackling blade of lightning to her hand. She slashed through the nearest zombie, despite her great visible fatigue. Her willpower was a force not to be ignored.

But then she made an unexpected move. She thrust the crackling blade into her equally electric companion. He seemed to be unfazed by the attack - instead he began to visibly ooze energy. Soon enough, it seemed he absorbed more energy he could hold - he gave a warning. Kheraket heeded it, swiftly taking cover behind the side of the doorway opposite of where Brutus' ray would fire, presumably right at the cultist.

The energy surged forth violently from Brutus' body with a loud crack, thrumming around itself through the air as it shot straight towards the enemy. The attack could be felt even from Kheraket's position, the wild, yet contained, energy blasting a beam of pure hot electricity.

The searing ray seemed to engulf the cultist before coming to a stop some seconds after. The energy had washed over Kheraket and he doubted anyone who was hit by that attack could survive - they'd be reduced to ash. The dark-haired boy stood up and moved from his spot of cover, stepping into the room as he surveyed the deceased people. A shame..

However there were other matters to attend to. The other students seemed to be fine for now - and were conversing amongst themselves. Kheraket took the opportunity to move closer and wait for a chance to ask, "Is this a...regular occurrence in this city..? To be attacked by Necromancers?"

The smaller girl fell to her knees, visibly exhausted of all her stamina. "Oh. Um...is she alright?" he inquiried with a frown.

It was a few moments before she moved again. As she did move however, there was a snap in Kheraket's mind. He felt something there that was not meant to be. A feeling he knew as a calming one in other places, but not here. Being here meant death was afoot.

His eyes glowed a faint blue as his mind peeked into the soul-plane. He looked at Diana. She, apparently, had two souls. One of which - belonged to a Reaper. A helmsman of hell.

Kheraket's mind snapped back to the physical plane, his body having already took a half-step away from the girl now. W-What...Why..? Having a Reaper's soul in a mortal body was not something that should happen. He had no clue what was going on, but he knew that he was probably alone in trying to figure it out - unless he could ask Diana herself. How lucrative that would be...who knew?

But he decided to keep quiet for now. Interfering with the machinations of a Reaper was against his ideals - not to mention that they were technically higher in rank than him, and could boss him around. But he had to inquire what this was about, eventually...
Hello! I just discovered this and found it to be pretty interesting, I do have a question or two, though. I plan on probably making a House Bestia character, and I wondered if a shapeshifter-type creature would be allowed? I also was wondering the extent of what a Bestia summon’s ‘abilities’ could be - for example, if some bestial summon could have an aura of fear it invokes upon those around it. That kinda sounds like a phantasma effect, but I wanted to clarify.
Cleophas Rook

[5:30 AM]

Brrring!...Brrring!...Brrring!

The high-pitched tone was met with a groan of protest. "Gahhh...Whaa-whyy.."

Brrring!...Brri- Beep

"Yeah..what-what time issit..?"

"Time for you to get ready for class. It's almost 5:30."

Rook sat up stock-straight when his dad replied. "Oh! Pops why're ya callin' so early!?" he asked as he stumbled out of bed towards his bags, rubbing sleep from his eyes. He'd yet to unpack his belongings into the dorm room he'd been assigned - he simply crashed on his bed the day before, not even making sure to tidy it up. It helped that he apparently didn't have a dorm-mate, yet.

He crooked the phone between his head and shoulder as he attempted to keep his balance while jumping into his pants.

"Can't have you being late for your first day of classes, can I? And you know how you've been lately when it comes to getting to class..." he responded, the last bit tinged with the sound of disappointment.

"Yea, yea...I get it. I'll be there. On time.", the boy replied. He genuinely felt bad sometimes for disappointing his father - but the classes were just so damn boring sometimes. It was hard to feel driven to attend. But this was a new year - he had to try harder.

Bzzt. Bzzt. Cleophas looked at his phone. He'd just received two messages.

"Ah- hey pops, a'gotta go. Gonna get ready for class."

"Right! Have a good first day, son. Text me about it after, all right? Talk to you then!"

Beep.

Rook picked up his tennis shoes and moved to sit on the bed as he read over the texts he had just received.

Woah...a hero? Ad'be so cool'ta meet some sorta Arms-Master Vigilante!

Rook didn't know who this person was sending the text, but it seemed the opportunity was almost too good to pass up. Ignoring the first message, he replied to the second, "I'm in."

He tucked his phone away into his pocket as he grabbed his backpack, having finished dressing, before heading out the door, closing it thoughtlessly behind him.

-----

Minutes later, Rook came to a screeching halt as he stepped past the threshold of his homeroom class - a second after the bell sounded. Much to his chagrin, it had taken him a little time to find the correct classroom. A few students stared at his entrance as he blew a tuft of (forgettingly ungroomed) hair out of his face.

"Mawnin'..." he greeted as he waved hesitantly.

boop

It had appeared Kheraket's magic had accomplished its task - he drew the cultist's attention away from the students. However, it also seemed the man had a contingency plan of sorts. Several bodies around the room - including a doctor's which was only a foot or so away from Kheraket - began twitching, bringing along that cold tingle that Kheraket had felt earlier. Before they pulled themselves into motion.

The smock-clad body lunged at Kheraket's ankles, causing him to stumble backwards to make an attempt to not be trapped. He lost his balance, giving him little time to prepare his stance for the other two charging thralls. But, fortunately for him, the very students he had just protected from the Draugr were taking action while their enemy was distracted. Several flashes throughout the Medical Pavilion signaled the various gifts of all of those present being utilized - one of them had summoned an elemental sword, and slashed at one of the foes. But some powers were more subtle at times.

The orb of Kheraket's staff grew dark, becoming enshrouded in a haze of shadow, before an inky, elongated arm shot out and dug wicked claws into the Pavilion's doorway, preventing his fall. The boy brought his other not-grabbed foot down on the wrist of the doctor, and although it probably wouldn't hurt, it would weaken the corpse's grasp enough for him to pull both his legs back and land him in a crouch.

But by then one of the charging zombies was upon him. Kheraket tumbled to the side, the tails of his longcoat flaying the air as he moved from the doorway. The shadowy claw flayed its own target as it withdrew from its clasp on the wall, tearing at the zombie's back as the boy attempted to avoid its rush.

The shade is a somewhat weak creature - but they are flexible. They are one of the easiest summons Kheraket traffics normally. So much so that he can summon them within seconds, and deploy them in various fashions. One of his most favored methods is to use them in combination with his staff for formidable melee reach.

But a shade was not likely to defeat the Necromancer alone. However, he was outnumbered - perhaps he would retreat.
