02/22/22 Atleast in for me it was. We're not going to be able to experience such a confluence of time like this in our lifetimes again.

One last time then.

Roles perhaps.

Beyond:

A captain, or pilot

Deck hands

Bosun

Special consideration for specialists eg. Cannoneers, Shanty Singers/muscians, navigators

What we wouldn't need are blood thirsty pirates and the like.

Vikingr:

Run of the mill Dane-men, Norse men are always welcome. Your basic viking, with axe or spear, shield and leather armor and a kick ass beard and hair cut, or even a strong and strong willed shield maiden, beautiful but deadly.

As I'd like to give this RP a slight fantasy twist. I'll give consideration to a spell-singing Skald, or curse-biting flyter. A siedr weaving shaman is also welcome.

Berserkers you may ask? I'd be willing to have one in the player party, though there would be others as NPCs. But you'd need to give me a really good believable background to the Berserker player character.

I am also willing to entertain the idea of a single thegn among the player party. Rich Dane-man with mail and helm and sword and shield.
I don't like bumping topics. But just a few times then.

RP ideas maybe?

Beyond the Edge:

Finding a Atlantis like sea nation

A multi day escape from a pirate/privateer vessel

An encounter with a classic sea monster, was thinking either a Lusca or a sea dragon.

A Vikingr:

Starting with the Heathen Army attack on the Northumbrian fyrd.

Then from there having the army fracture up to begin raiding. The player group consisting of the players and a number of NPCs would be free to raid Northumbrian and North Mercia, before heading south and finding more looting oppurtunities.

While down there a moment of looting leads to the discovery of ancient tomes speaking of strange curses and great treasure hidden by dark things.
@Kenshi

Well if that's interest, that's one vote for A Vikingr there then.
Two ideas. I intend to only run one, so I want to put the ideas forth. See if either get any interest. They may seem fairly similiar but they are playing to quite different play styles.

Beyond the Edge

A distant star, a distant time.

The Elders say we've explored all the world. From shore to shore. Our tall ships ply the rivers, and the lakes and the cool green and blue waters from north to south. Our World is known to us.

It's true.

But well there are old seaman's stories. That no one has ever been further then 55 Nautical miles from the ocean shores. Only far enough to the Outer Islands. The old stories they tell tales of distant lands. Lands on no map, lands that no one has been too in our known annals.

And everyone was quite happy to let that stands for years.

Until one day in a sailing town on the west shores, a flyer is put up anonymously.

Seeking Brave souls.

We sail for the edge of the map and beyond.

Be you corsair, merchantman, or Old Tar

All are welcome

Seek out the Lady Syren

A crew and a ship, perhaps a foolish adventure, maybe it'd be back within a week finding nothing.

Or maybe out beyond the edge of the map they'd find new an amazing things that we could never imagine.

A Vikingr

Ragnar Lothbrok is dead. The Great King of the Danes is dead!

So the skalds sing for days and nights. He lays dead. Distinguished upon crushed velvet. Many pay homage before the great king was buried like the old kings. Set afloat on a longship and it being lit aflame by a volley of flaming arrows.

After a few months though the songs fo King Ragnar are sung few and far between, but new songs and news is known. The Ragnarsson's call for any good Dane or Norseman. They seek too avenge Ragnar Lothbrok, and teach the Saxon's that they cannot humilate Nations and expect to be left without reprecussion.

An army, a great one indeed, is called. Many long ships. Many warriors.

The Skalds sing, and many will answer.

==========================

Okay. So a little more details.

Beyond the Edge will be a long term tall ship exploration story, a highly fantasized journey to the New World, in a fantasy setting. It will be slow and it will not be filled with great action. But there will be fantasy moments and plays on mystery.

Seakings, mysterious waters, and great ocean monsters. As well as fantastic moments of discovery.

Inspired by things like Fallen London, Sunless Sea, and various lovecraftian and mariner legends and stories.

Meanwhile A Vikingr, scratches a personal itch, a play on the Viking age of history, with a slight fantasy twist. Viking sorcerors, shamans spinning curses, berserkers and great hosts of bearded men and golden hair battle maids charging the fields and writing an alternate history.

Players can and will die, maybe come back to live and die again. Great fantasy beasts borne of legend may stalk the land.

Starting with the march of the Great Heathen Army, lead by the Sons of Ragnar before venturing deep into legend, myth and fantasy.

Neither RP will be more then 4 to maybe 6 players. 4 or 5 perferably.

If there are questions then please ask them and I'll do my best to answer it. Maybe not to your satisfaction but I will answer.
You know what I'm not too knowledgable about the Mass Effect world but this seems interesting so I'll keep an eye on this.
WIP at the moment I'm putting down what I have right now. I don't want to lose it. Work is heavy right now and I'm worried I'll lose this idea if I don't put it down somewhere.

Okay I'm still kinda wrapping my head around the ideas of the background story but I'd be interested in getting in on this.

If you'll have me anyway.
@Aristocles

Koglan jerks his head from looking at Hafinjal. He'd sired many children through his life but he won't fool himself, this litter may be one of the final ones he sires. He's getting far too old. Soon his work will all be what keeps him a working part of the clan. The Iron and Steel he weaves for the hunters and warriors may end up being all he can manage. But this young goblin may be his legacy.

But that jerk of his head shows he's surprised. He looks at the other goblin baby in her arms, "A girl." He leans forward a little, "A girl-child." He nods, the father usually doesn't have this much hand in the raising of their children. This is an interesting turn around. He hums, "Tiwa...perhaps. Like her mother. May she be as good a dancer as her mother perhaps." He chuckles. Then looks at Siwa, "I cannot promise to be a proper father to them, I have no head for it. But if they come to me asking for help, shelter and even food, I will do my best to give them what they need. Never let it be said that Koglan Ironweaver will turn away his own blood." He nods, his powerful shoulders and arms flexing, "And the same goes for you Siwa. My door is always open to you, as is my larder. You are welcome and so is your litter."

He gets up and grabs the basket, "I brought you food. Bread, some dried fruit, some salted meats and a few skins of water and a skin of milk." He sets the basket down. And from atop it pulls up the paired dancing rings, "And these...I made them as a gift and an experiment. Meant to rest on your arms or if you're brave, your ankles. To chime and ring as you dance." He smiles proud of himself despite his awkward words.
Interesting. I'd like to toss my own hat into this if it's okay with everyone? This sounds like fun.
@Aristocles

Koglan stopped at the door.

Then opened it slowly and carefully.

Far more careful then he would be in many things.

And there on the floor, tiny mewling goblins. Babies. The Kits of the Goblin people. He gulped, and set the basket of food beside the door and the dancing chime atop it.

Oh how he felt awkward and out of place. Male Goblins did not usually make themselves a huge part in their offspring. But here these would likely have his blood in them. He picked his way past the kits as they rolled and slept on the mat. And made his way to Siwa, and there saw the oldest. The resemblance he could see clearly enough, the eldest Goblin is indeed his. The same sharp nose he can see, which would grow to the spear point that rests on his own face. The same slightly grey-green skin. He nodded, "Hafinjal, after my great grand sire. Before me, one of the greatest Smiths we ever had in this clan. Or so the stories say." He said proudly, "If you will still allow me too Siwa, I will train him when he is older. Pass down what I can. With any hope when my time draws nearer I can pass on my forge to him, and he can be our next smith."

Koglan carefully knelt, and looked down as one of the crawling Kits made it over and latched onto his leg hugging it softly. The old Goblin smith getting a soft look in his eyes as he looked down at the kit. He then looked back to Siwa, "You said there was something else?"
